Sometimes we have to stop and really look at where we are in our lives today. Especially, when things don't seem to be going our way. This past weekend's chaos from the presidential race had a few people up in arms, but I want to remind everyone that there's a better space for your head than in everyone else's business. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/generalfitnesscompany/support

In the forty-fifth episode of Making Mt. Rushmore, host/moderator/panelist Steve Riddle welcomes Chad Campbell to discuss which East Coast Rap Songs deserve a place on their respective lists. Is “Juicy” by Notorious B.I.G. a no-brainer? What about “Life's A Bitch” by Nas? Does “O.P.P.” by Naughty By Nature grab a spot? Does “Brooklyn Zoo” by Ol' Dirty Bastard or “Rebel Without A Pause” by Public Enemy deserve a place? After that, they discuss which West Coast Rap Songs will be part of that grouping. Can you argue that “California Love” by 2Pac shouldn't get a spot? Will “Straight Outta Compton” by N.W.A. be included? Is “It Was A Good Day” by Ice Cube in the conversation? What about “Gin And Juice” by Snoop Dogg & “Nothin' But a G Thang” by Dr. Dre?
Our favorite vinyl records from bands or artists filed under "G". And...GO! In the early 1970s, legendary collaborator and self-proclaimed non-musician Brian Eno famously designed a deck of 115 cards containing elliptical imperatives to spark in the user creative connections unobtainable through regular modes of work. He called his creation "Oblique Strategies." For nearly one half of a century, countless artists and professionals across the globe have benefited from utilizing the oblique strategies technique when attempting to overcome a lull in creative output. In 2022, idiot basement-dwelling, award-winning* hobby podcasters and self-proclaimed Lightnin' Lickers Jay and Deon found themselves uninspired when contemplating the potential themes of their upcoming thirty-first episode. Together, they decided... to default back to the alphabet. Because they have a reasonably good handle on the alphabet. B. Cox and J. Owe look back at Dr. Dre's transcendent debut album The Chronic as it turns 30. After spending half a decade as the architect and chief producer for both NWA and Ruthless Records, Dr. Dre split in 1991 to help co-found Death Row Records with Marion "Suge" Knight with the backing of Interscope Records. As their prime producer and executive, the record label would become a symbol of power and success in the 1990s, starting with his debut album.Using techniques of producing beats over sampled funk records, deep bass and transformative melodies, the album is credited by many as not originating, but popularizing the "G-Funk" sound that became the label and southern California's hip-hop's identity.Assisted by the likes of a young rap phenom Snoop Doggy Dog, RBX, Daz and Kurupt of the Dogg Pound and Lady of Rage among others, the Dr. also lent his own vocals as a signature defining moment for his career assisted by the pen of Snoop and also the legendary D.O.C., who was relegated to writing after his traffic accident prematurely ended his promising career on the mic. The result was an album full of legendary bars and quotables that would become a part of hip-hop and pop culture lexicon. The album was backed by three Billboard top ten singles : the classics "Nuthin But a G Thang", "Dre Day" and "Let Me Ride". Certified triple platinum, The Chronic has been universally acclaimed as both a foundational album of West Coast hip-hop, the hip-hop genre overall and a culture-shifting supernova that few albums have been able to match in terms of quality and impact since.Visit The Vault Classic Music Reviews Onlinewww.vaultclassicpod.comSupport The Vault Classic Music Review on Buy Me A Coffeehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/vaultclassicpodShow NotesAlbumism: Dr. Dre's 'The Chronic' Turns 30 | Album Anniversaryhttps://albumism.com/features/dr-dre-the-chronic-album-anniversaryEurWeb: Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" Turns 30 https://eurweb.com/2022/dr-dres-the-chronic-turns-30/HipHopHero: 30 years of 'The Chronic': Dr. Dre's exceptional debut album https://hiphophero.com/30-years-of-dr-dre-album-the-chronic/MusicMusingsAndSuch: Celebrating An Iconic and Complex Debut Album: Dr. Dre's "The Chronic"https://www.musicmusingsandsuch.com/musicmusingsandsuch/2022/11/16/feature-celebrating-an-iconic-and-complex-debut-album-dr-dres-the-chronic-at-thirtyBillboard: Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" Turns 30. Torae & Bonsu are closing out the year strong, much like Dre & Snoop did in '92 with The Chronic. After NWA disbanded many were left wondering what would come next. Ice Cube was enjoying a successful solo career and the tension between Eazy-E and Dre was pretty high. On the Deep Cover soundtrack we got a glimpse of what was to come when a tall slim rapper from Long Beach stepped on the scene. Dre & Snoop (along with the rest of the Death Row family) created an album that would forever change hip-hop and at the same time set the launching pad for one of the most iconic careers in music history. Tap in to our last episode of 2022 as the guys hit The Chronic and once again prove Hard2Earn ain't Nuthin' But a G Thang.

In the milestone 20th episode, Travis and John continue the 2017 fantasy season's exit interview. Was it a giveaway that Josh McCown would be a startable superflex quarterback? Or that he would raise Robby Anderson's value along with his own? The guys are discussing expectations of rookie quarterbacks as giveaways as well, not to mention Adam Thielen after his white hot finish to his rookie season. Their takeaways include bad teams turning it around (with a revolting suggestion on a potential sleeper offense in 2018), and late season pass catching breakouts, with a couple way-too-early sleepers. And which path should an owner take in dynasty startups: RBs to rule, or WRs to win? Plus, trades involving Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, early first round draft picks, Hunter Henry and Sammy Watkins; “You're Nuts!” predictions on a quarterback with a modest goal and a running back with redemption on his mind.
