On Hour 2 of The FAN Morning Show, Kaitlyn McGrath, Blue Jays reporter for The Athletic, checks in from Dunedin to discuss the vibe down at spring training, Jose Berrios' slew of mechanical adjustments, how MLB's balk crackdown will impact Kevin Gausman, George Springer shifting to right field, John Schneider's approach to his first camp, Don Mattingly's individual work with Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and the future of the home run jacket. Later, Ailish and Justin are joined by Carl Gunnarsson, former NHL defenceman and 2019 Stanley Cup champion, to discuss his experience playing with Ryan O'Reilly in St. Louis, O'Reilly's leadership prowess, the Blues' regression since their storybook 2019 season, and the inherent legacy implications that come with playing in Toronto (25:00). The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
Jk joins "The Opening Drive" to talk abou the back-and-forth nature of the season so far for the Blues, the jump in play from Calle Rosen over the last few weeks, Randy & JK both comparing him to Carl Gunnarsson, why Leivo and Saad have brought out the best from ROR and that top line, the importance of Saad's return to the lineup and whether you can make an argument that Ovechkin is the greatest *sniper* in NHL history.
After missing the past few podcasts, Chris is back and the team is together again. We are slowly creeping towards the end of the season as the Stanley Cup Finals are about to get underway but we do have some St. Louis Blues talk to get to. Carl calls it a career. We chatted about Carl's impact on the Blues, who we think will win the Stanley Cup and another offseason rumor involving the Blues that has gotten a little more steam behind it now. Wait til you hear about our NFL ring ceremony concept...Jonah is back in from his Fresh year of college and contributes in a big way. Maria can best be described as mildly bemused and tolerant as the guys propose the following:1) What would you do if you had the Stanley Cup for a day?2) A total reimagining of the NFL Super Bowl ring ceremony. What if NFL Super Bowl rings were turned over every year like the Stanley Cup? 50 yard line, previous winners line up across from new winners and (Benny Hill theme starts playing) each player has to find another one to wear his ring.Would there be Red Carpet event fan overlap for the Super Bowl if there was a week long leadup with players discussing the rings, their potential outfits for the ceremony and who their potential targets might be?If this sounds to you like it might be a terrible idea, maybe you need to ask yourself this question: “If Elvis Grbac, 1994 Michigan Wolverines starting QB, thinks its a great idea...is it possible that maybe I’m the one missing the point?”*If you are an NFL athlete or know an NFL athlete, please explain to us why or how you think this will be successful and who to contact to make it work.*To date, Elvis Grbac is definitely unaware of this idea and may or may not think it’s a good idea. Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter.

Corey Miller and Ahmad Hicks react to probably the most historic game in Blues history as St. Louis beats Boston 3-2 in OT to claim the franchise's first ever Stanley Cup Final win. Carl Gunnarsson was the unlikely hero with the game-winning-goal in overtime, and the Blues battled through a physical 60 minutes before that.
The boys discuss Boston beer protocol, Carl Gunnarsson’s urinal prediction, NBA vs NHL and the rise of the Raptors, Gary Bettman’s press conference, Kuznetsov and coke, Phil Kessel trades, Dave Tippett and a full Stanley Cup Final food review! Sponsored by Leesa, Seat Geek and The Athletic.
The Blues win a back and forth game 3-2 on an overtime goal by Carl Gunnarsson just a few minutes in to overtime. It's a family affair on this week's edition of Beyond Checkerdome, and not because DK's son wandered onto the podcast! (He didn't.) We dive into a perfect Blues 4-game home stand which included Alexander Steen joining elite company with his father and Ivan Barbashev netting a hat trick in front of his parents and brother. With our beers of the episode, we discussed sustainable six-pack holders. We also covered the possible pending playoff spot the Blues could lock up soon, Jaden Schwartz's hat trick, how we were both wrong about when Vladimir Tarasenko was going to come back, Carl Gunnarsson's return to the lineup, a goal streak, some point streaks, how Steen and Jay Bouwmeester are "gray beards" without growing beards, CCR's upcoming trip to NY/NJ and so, SO much more . . . including our usual tangents. It is indeed a great time to be a Blues fan.
Cam Janssen and Hanna Yates are broadcasting live at their Monday night home at Three Kings Public House in Ronnie's Plaza. Cam recaps the Blues win against Tampa Bay and previews the matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights. Carl Gunnarsson is ready to make his return to the lineup and Cam and Hanna look at how he impacts the defense. Hanna also examines the team's increased scoring beyond the first line and goes one-on-one with Pat Maroon. Plus Cam is challenged to find a better fighter in the league than Vegas' Ryan Reaves.
The Blues went up 2-1 in the second period on a goal by defensmen Vince Dunn. The Senators would get a short handed goal early in the third period by former Blue Magnus Paajarvi to tie it up at 2-2. Carl Gunnarsson would break the tie and score the game winning goal in the third... The post The Blues show the Senators no diplomacy in a 3-2 win appeared first on The Drop Podcast.
The Bruins controlled the first period while testing Blues goaltender Jake Allen. Allen had to make several key saves to keep the Bruins off of the scoreboard in the first period. The Blues would take a 2-1 lead in the second on a goal by Carl Gunnarsson, but fomer Blues captain David Backes would deflect... Cam Janssen and Hanna Yates are broadcasting live from John P. Field's in Clayton. The Blues return home after a week on the road and the holiday break, and Cam and Hanna examine the state of the team and how close Robby Fabbri, Alex Pietrangelo, and Carl Gunnarsson are from returning to the lineup. The game also marks the first meeting for Ryan O'Reilly, Carter Hutton, Tage Thompson, and Vladimir Sobotka against their former teams.Plus Cam and Hanna look at the WJC action including Canda's absolute annihilation of Denmark.
The Blues inability to score took away from a great effort by their goalie Jake Allen. Jake allowed 2 goals, but one of them went off his own defensemen Carl Gunnarsson. How's that for a bounce back? After a big streak the Blues crashed and burned in Alberta, but rebounded nicely against the Canuckleheads. Six Flags may be closed for the winter, but the St Louis Blues have all of your roller coaster needs covered. We marvel at the voodoo of the Calgary game, and the failure of special teams in Alberta. The Vancouver victory is covered, as we got to see the much anticipated return of Carl Gunnarsson. Oh yeah, and that Brian Elliott guy, too. He was pretty OK. There's a nice rant about Paul Stastny, and we're getting close to a healthy team again. We talk about expansion in the NHL and NWHL, and the ramifications the ladies will have on "Capital H Hockey". All that, and much much more!
We're a litte late in getting this out this week, but that might be a good thing. This was recorded before the Calgary and Edmonton debacles. We were still riding the high of the winning streak that carried us through the top teams of the Western Conference. These games went 4-0, with goals from the usual suspects like Ryan Reaves and Patrik Berglund. Also, there was a disturbing trend that we've noticed before on the show - blown leads. There's the re-signing of Carl Gunnarsson and the return of Jori Lehtera from injury. We condemn the only player in the NHL that could compete with Shaw for general fuckholery, celebrate the conclusion of the CWHL and NWHL seasons, and rise to the defence of Dmitrij Jaskin. All that, and some other capital-H Hockey.
