Hi everybody, and welcome to Episode 235 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.  The Detroit Red Wings season is done and it's time to submit the Detroit Red WIngs Player Grades for the 2021-22 Season. As per our tradition, the Red Wings will be graded by Little Caesars Menu Items. All items on the menu are up for grabs and cannot be repeated. The Red Wings saw All-Star level performances from Dylan Larkin, Elite performances from Moritz Seider, and surprise breakout performances from Lucas Raymond. And some incredible goal scoring from Jakub Vrana. While the Red Wings team and fans saw some good to take away from this past season, the losing record and goal differential definitely mean there were some not-so-great performances as well. The likes of Adam Erne, Givani Smith, Nick Leddy, Thomas Greiss, and Gustav Lindstrom stand out. But for all of the great and not so great performances, the Red Wings had a lot of middling and tough to decide on performances, either because they did improve as the season went on, we did see some glimpses of greatness, or we just couldn't ask them to be better than they are: Joe Veleno, Michael Rasmussen, Filip Zadina, Jordan Oesterle, Filip Hronek, and the list goes on. Hit us up in the chat with your grades and which menu items you'd award Tyler Bertuzzi, Robby Fabbri, and Alex Nedeljkovic. Episode sponsored by Draft Kings. With Christmas on the horizon and a new year set to begin soon, we delve deep into what's going on around the league.  The big news which we expected is that the NHL is going to pause until after Christmas at the earliest.  How long will this continue?  The Devils have utilized 6, yes 6 goaltenders this season, and we haven't reached Christmas yet.  The bigger surprise may be that this ties a team record.  Mike takes a deep dive into D scoring in the league and relates it to the Boston defense. Have the Kraken swindled their fans and the hockey community?  We attempt to answer this question.  Robby Fabbri has inked a new deal in Detroit.  Is he a 4 million dollar player?  The All Star Voting has begun and there are no surprises.  Will the Winter Classic be played?  We make our picks anyway.  The Office of Player Safety got it right (Mike admits this) with regards to Brett Connolly's hit on Tanner Kero.  Joe Haggerty writes that Jacob Chychrun will solve the B's biggest issue and we break down a deal posited by a commenter on an Athletic article about Boston's goaltending.  Merry Christmas to all, this is our gift to you!  Enjoy the Show!

Larkin beat Vitek Vanecek 1:37 into OT. Adam Erne started the comeback with a goal in the second, and Thomas Greiss made 26 saves for the Red Wings. Alex Ovechkin scored his eighth goal of the season and Evgeny Kuznetsov his fifth to stake Washington to a 2-0 lead. Ovechkin's goal was the 738th of his career, putting him three back of Brett Hull for fourth on the NHL career list. Maple Leafs 3, Blackhawks 2 – OT – Maple Leafs snap losing streak in 3-2 OT win over Blackhawks William Nylander scored in overtime to lift the Toronto Maple Leafs over the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 on Wednesday. The Leafs snapped a four-game losing streak with the victory, and extended the Blackhawks' record to 0-6-1 since the start of the season. John Tavares and David Kampf also scored for Toronto, and Jack Campbell stopped 25 shots. Chicago got 36 saves from Kevin Lankinen, and goals from Kirby Dach and Alex DeBrincat. NHL – 'Animalism': Blackhawks scandal raises culture questions The former player at the heart of the Chicago Blackhawks assault scandal has come forward publicly. Kyle Beach tells TSN he felt “alone and dark” in the days following the alleged assault in 2010.  Earlier this week, a report detailed how senior team leaders badly mishandled Beach's allegations that an assistant coach sexually assaulted him. The ramifications now stretch beyond Chicago. Florida coach Joel Quenneville is slated to meet with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman on Thursday. Winnipeg general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff also is planning to talk to the commissioner next week. Both were with the Blackhawks when the allegations were first reported to team leadership. NHL – Quenneville's meeting with Bettman may decide fate in Florida The Panthers are rolling this season but coach Joel Quenneville being named in a report detailing how the Chicago Blackhawks mishandled sexual assault allegations that an assistant on his staff sexually assaulted a player during the team's Stanley Cup run in 2010 could derail Florida's hopes. Quenneville was back on the ice with the Panthers on Wednesday. He's going to sit with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman on Thursday, a meeting that'll probably determine his coaching future. The Panthers believe they have a Stanley Cup contender and say that continues to be their focus. Jose Altuve doubled early, homered late and scored twice to break out at the plate. Siri's speed and aggressive play created havoc on the bases, leading to a four-run second inning that helped the Astros snap a five-game skid at home in the World Series. MLB – World Series opener viewers up 17.5% over last year's low Atlanta's 6-2 victory over Houston in World Series Game 1 drew an average of 10,811,000 viewers on Fox, up 17.5% from the record low of 9,195,000 for the Los Angeles Dodgers' opening 8-3 win over Tampa Bay last year. Fox said Tuesday night's game averaged 11,077,000 viewers combined for Fox, Fox Deportes for Spanish-language coverage and Fox's streaming apps.

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 175, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home. Today we recap the Detroit Red Wings 2021-22 home opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Saturday matchup with the Vancouver Canucks. The Detroit Red Wings got out to a huge 6-3 lead against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but talent, circumstance, and being short-handed (in more ways than one) led to a tremendous comeback and win for the defending Stanley Cup Champs. Tyler Bertuzzi got off to an extremely hot start with 4 goals that rocked the Little Caesars Arena crowd and threw them into a frenzy. Moritz Seider also walked away with 2A in his first game and finished with a solid 20 minutes of ice time. We'll also discuss the roller coaster of a game for Alex Nedeljkovic, the Marc Staal mistakes, and Gustav Lindstrom clearly earning his role over Troy Stecher and Jordan Oesterle. The Red Wings defeat the Vancouver Canucks 3-1. Robby Fabbri and Filip Zadina each scored with Sam Gagner chipping in an Empty Net Goal.  The 1st star of the game was Thomas Greiss, who stopped 40 of 41 shots. Filip Zadina was also hurt in the game but did return. He was checked by Connor Garland and went down in a heap. Filip Hronek went after Garland for most of the game following the incident. We discuss the chippiness of the Detroit Red Wings games so far and if the Red Wings are developing an identity. And is that good or bad? Episode sponsored by Draft Kings.
