Though he's already back to throwing, he admits he's not launching 60- or 70-yard passes yet. If healthy, Lock is expected to be the QB2, primarily due to his contract, but it remains to be seen whether Tommy DeVito will also stay on the roster.Lock also addressed the boos he received when he threw an interception and Tommy DeVito replaced him during a game. He acknowledged the crowd's reaction, attributing it to his mistake and praising DeVito's performance last season. Lock's attitude is fitting for New York—taking responsibility and moving forward, recognizing that fans can overreact during preseason, especially with new players. In other news, Tyree Jackson, a converted tight end who played quarterback at Buffalo, is being listed as the emergency QB for the Giants in their game against the Texans. Though unlikely to make the final roster, Jackson's role highlights the experimental nature of preseason, where teams explore different options before the regular season begins.Daniel Jones is expected to start against the Texans in what will be his first game action since his ACL injury. While his performance will undoubtedly be scrutinized, it's important to remember that this is just a preseason game, and Week 1 will provide a clearer picture of what lies ahead.Malik Nabers has suffered a left ankle sprain, though a fracture was avoided. He's listed as day-to-day, with the coaching staff planning to ease him back into practice as he recovers.Starting cornerback Cor'Dale Flott is dealing with a quad injury and will miss the upcoming week, opening the door for players like Nick McCloud to compete for his spot. Meanwhile, Dyontae Johnson, who shined during the preseason win against the Lions with a sack and two tackles for loss, is now week-to-week with a sprained ankle, which could impact his chances of making the roster.Evan Neal and John Michael Schmitz are back in practice, with Neal expressing his willingness to embrace any role the team has for him, including as a backup or even a guard. Schmitz, initially limited to individual drills, is also expected to play against the Texans, as live game reps are crucial for the starting offensive line to build familiarity. In roster moves, the Giants have signed RB Lorenzo Lingard and waived Jacob Saylors. Lingard, a UDFA out of Akron, faces stiff competition in a crowded backfield and is unlikely to make the roster. The Giants also signed LB K.J. Cloyd while waiving CB Kaleb Hayes. Cloyd, who was originally signed by the Vikings, might find a spot on the practice squad, especially with the recent injuries at linebacker. The Giants' Madden 25 ratings werFarrell Sports BusinessInterviews with unicorns from sports business and their career pathsListen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reported that Eluemenor left the field gingerly, accompanied by head trainer Ronnie Barnes, and was diagnosed with bruised ribs. Head Coach Brian Daboll assured that it was "nothing serious," noting, "Anybody Dex hits, you get sore from that." Eluemenor, who participated in the walkthrough portion of practice, commented on the hit, saying, "It's like getting hit by a truck," but emphasized his resilience, having never missed a day of training camp in his eight-year career. In the second day of training camp, Daniel Jones showed promising form, completing 9 of 13 passes, including a deep throw to Jalin Hyatt and a touchdown pass to Malik Nabers, although Nabers dropped another potential touchdown. This marked the second day Nabers dropped a pass, despite his otherwise strong performance. Nabers also made a notable over-the-shoulder catch in the end zone during one-on-one drills against Deonte Banks. Banks expressed enjoyment in competing against Nabers, citing their similar playing styles and the friendly competition.Other notable performances included Dennis Houston, who excelled in one-on-one drills, catching three passes and drawing a pass interference penalty on Darnay Holmes. Isaiah Hodgins caught a touchdown from Drew Lock, and Tyree Jackson caught a touchdown pass from Tommy DeVito after an extended scramble. Rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. received some first-team reps but fumbled after being hit by Brian Burns. Azeez Ojulari had a standout day, recording what would have been three sacks against second and third-team competition. Isaiah McKenzie, Gunner Olszewski, Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Ayir Asante all participated in punt return drills.Michael Strahan Listed as a Top 25 NFL Player from the 21st CenturyMichael Strahan was named one of the top 25 NFL players of the 21st century by ESPN. He was the 2001 Defensive Player of the Year, recording 22.5 sacks that season, a record he shares with T.J. Watt. Strahan's career, highlighted by a Super Bowl victory in his final season, significantly boosted his post-football career as a TV analyst and host. He noted that winning the Super Bowl made a substantial difference in his life.Malik Nabers Named to the All-Preseason Rookie Team by CBS SportsMalik Nabers was named to CBS Sports' All-Preseason Rookie Team by Chris Trapasso, who praised Nabers as his WR1 in the 2024 class. Trapasso acknowledged concerns about Daniel Jones' ability to fuel a great rookie season for a receiver but highlighted Nabers' talent, speed, and YAC ability, which provide a solid foundation at the receiver spot. Notably, Giants rookie Tyler Nubin did not make the list or receive honorable mention.Giants Top 100 Players: 80-71Giants Top 100 Players: 70-61#giants #nygiants #giants100Support the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Hey there, Giants fans! Drew and Rob are back with another episode of "2 Giant Goofballs," and today, we're delving into the intriguing world of tight ends on the Big Blue roster. Get ready for some in-depth analysis and lively discussion as we break down the strengths, weaknesses, and potential additions to the Giants' TE corps!First up, let's talk about the big man himself, Darren Waller. Standing tall at 6'6” and weighing in at 245lbs, Waller brings a wealth of experience and talent to the table. With 52 receptions for 552 yards and a PFF rating of 69.4 last season, Waller is a force to be reckoned with in both the passing game and as a blocker. But Waller isn't the only tight end making waves for the Giants. Daniel Bellinger, despite a disappointing sophomore season, still has plenty of potential to make an impact. Standing at 6'5” and weighing 253lbs, Bellinger has shown flashes of brilliance in the past, and Giants fans are eager to see if he can bounce back and regain his form from his promising rookie year. And let's not forget about the rookies on the roster. Theo Johnson, a standout from Penn State, brings a combination of size and athleticism that could make him a dynamic playmaker in the NFL. Standing at 6'6” and weighing 254lbs, Johnson has a high ceiling but also a raw skill set, making him a player to watch as he continues to develop.Of course, the Giants also have their fair share of blocking tight ends in the mix. Players like Jack Stoll, Tyree Jackson, and Chris Manhertz provide valuable depth and versatility to the position, giving the Giants options both in the passing game and in run blocking situations. But with the talent already on the roster, do the Giants need to add another tight end to the mix? Drew and Rob weigh the pros and cons of potential free agent options like Logan Thomas, Robert Tonyan, Jimmy Graham, and Marcedes Lewis, considering factors like age, production, and fit within the team's offensive scheme. And finally, Drew and Rob compare the Giants' tight end situation from last year to this year. With the potential return of Waller, the development of young players like Bellinger and Johnson, and the addition of veteran depth, are the Giants better or worse off at the tight end position? Drew and Rob break down the stats, assess the impact of key players, and make their predictions for the upcoming season. So, Giants fans, get ready for some tight end tango as we dissect the ins and outs of the Big Blue TE corps. Whether you're a die-hard fan or just tuning in for some football analysis, "2 Giant Goofballs" has got you covered with all the latest insights and updates. Wait til you hear about our NFL ring ceremony concept...Jonah is back in from his Fresh year of college and contributes in a big way. Maria can best be described as mildly bemused and tolerant as the guys propose the following:1) What would you do if you had the Stanley Cup for a day?2) A total reimagining of the NFL Super Bowl ring ceremony. What if NFL Super Bowl rings were turned over every year like the Stanley Cup? 50 yard line, previous winners line up across from new winners and (Benny Hill theme starts playing) each player has to find another one to wear his ring.Would there be Red Carpet event fan overlap for the Super Bowl if there was a week long leadup with players discussing the rings, their potential outfits for the ceremony and who their potential targets might be?If this sounds to you like it might be a terrible idea, maybe you need to ask yourself this question: “If Elvis Grbac, 1994 Michigan Wolverines starting QB, thinks its a great idea...is it possible that maybe I’m the one missing the point?”*If you are an NFL athlete or know an NFL athlete, please explain to us why or how you think this will be successful and who to contact to make it work.*To date, Elvis Grbac is definitely unaware of this idea and may or may not think it’s a good idea. Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter. From the Archives: The guest on today’s Coach and Coordinator podcast is Andy Kotelnicki, offensive coordinator at the University of Buffalo. In his fourth season at Buffalo, Kotelnicki worked with the quarterbacks his first two years at the program before turning to the running backs last season. Offensively, Kotelnicki led Buffalo to ranking second in the Mid-American Conference in yards per game last season and set a school record for total offense in a single season. Kotelnicki has coached three All-MAC players and helped quarterback Tyree Jackson set the school record for passing yards thrown by a freshman. Before Buffalo, Kotelnicki coached at the NCAA Division III level for two years with Wisconsin-Whitewater, also as offensive coordinator. The two years Kotelnicki was there, Wisconsin-Whitewater went a combined 28-0. Kotelnicki also had stops at the University of Mary (Bismarck, North Dakota) at the D-II level, his alma mater UW-River Falls, and FCS school Western Illinois, as an offensive assistant at each stop. On today’s podcast, Kotelnicki and host Keith Grabowski talk about moving from coaching Division III to FBS, having multiple schemes and the keys to having a high-powered offense. Instead the referees left the game and the higher officials did not do enough to get the game going. Houston wins 32-23.The New York Guardians get their first road win as they routed the Renegades 30-12. Guardians QB Luis Perez threw a deep pass to Pearson that went 80 yards for a touchdown. He went 16-of-30 completions, 229 passing yards and a touchdown. The DC Defenders snapped their two game losing streak by benching Cardale Jones after he threw an interception. Tyree Jackson took the snap and DC defeated the Battlehawks 15-9. For Saint Louis, QB Ta'am could not get the offense going. He was pressured constantly and sacked four times during the process. Kicker Russolino made two of three field goals. Battlehawks did not score a touchdown.Lastly, the LA Wildcats erased an 18-point deficit to defeat the Tampa Bay Vipers on a 41-34 shoot out. It resulted in the supervisor to be relieved from duty. Here is a statement from the XFL:"Saturday's Seattle Dragons-Houston Roughnecks game should not have ended as it did. Replays showed clearly that the knee of Houston Quarterback PJ Walker touched the field, rendering him 'down' and the fourth-down play officially completed, with approximately two seconds remaining on the clock - effectively turning the ball over to Seattle on downs. WIth a nine-point differential in the score, Seattle was denied an opportunity to tie the game. The XFL sincerely regrets this error. In addition, Wes Booker, who served as officiating supervisor for Saturday's game, has been reassigned." Today’s guest on the Coach and Coordinator podcast is Andy Kotelnicki, offensive coordinator at the University of Buffalo (N.Y.). Currently in his fifth season at Buffalo, Kotelnicki worked with the quarterbacks during his first two years with the Bulls before turning to the running backs two seasons ago. Offensively in 2017, Kotelnicki led Buffalo to a No. 2 ranking in the Mid-American Conference in yards per game and set a school record for total offense in a single season. Kotelnicki has coached three All-MAC players and helped quarterback Tyree Jackson set the school record for passing yards thrown by a freshman. Prior to Buffalo, Kotelnicki coached at the NCAA Division III level for two years at Wisconsin-Whitewater, serving as their offensive coordinator. The two years Kotelnicki was there, Wisconsin-Whitewater went a combined 28-0. Kotelnicki also had offensive assistant coaching stints at D-II University of Mary (Bismarck, N.D.), his alma mater University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Western Illinois. Kotelnicki joins the podcast today to talk about different ways to distort the defense. Readyforthedraft.com's Gregg Schutze shares his passion for the NFL draft and takes you on a journey leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft. Episode 12 starts by taking a look at how Week 10 affected the College Football Playoff. With LSU's loss to Alabama, Notre Dame an Michigan are behind Alabama and Clemson with Georiga and Oklahoma the first two teams out. Gregg notes that Tua Tagovailoa has put up insane stats on the year while just playing in three quarters. However, while he's the odds-on favorite for the Heisman Trophy, could it be argued that fellow QB's and likely Heisman finalists Kyler Murray and Will Grier are more valuable to their teams? Gregg also talks quarterbacks for the 2019 Draft. Ryan Finley, Drew Lock and Will Grier are the front runners at the top of the draft class. Gregg also removed all underclassmen from his rankings until January when we know exactly who will be entering the draft. However, he does discuss why he feels Justin Herbert, Dwayne Haskins, Nate Stanley and Jarrett Stidham would all benefit from another year in school. If there is an underclassmen likely to enter the draft, it may be Tyree Jackson, who has led the Buffalo Bulls to an 8-1 record. The Wide Receiver class doesn't have the depth at the top in terms of viable 1st Round candidates, but the depth is in Day 2 and early Day 3 wideouts. While Marquise Brown, A.J. Brown and N'Keal Harry get all the hype at the top of the draft class, Kelvin Harmon is quickly emerging as a legitimate 1st Round candidate. Hakeem Butler and JJ Arcega-Whiteside are bringing the basketball mentality to the football field, while the Texas duo of Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Collin Johnson show of a tremendous catch radius., while David Sills V has a knack for finding the end zone. Buffalo's Anthony Johnson announced he's back with a huge game against Miami, OH. Gregg also mentions sleeper WR picks Preston Williams, Jonathan Duhart and Andy Isabella, all of whom are potential Day 3 picks who have a chance to make an NFL Roster.
