I met Shirah at a pickleball event at a local indoor pickleball club after she had emailed my wife regarding FROPRO and her newly started Palm Beach Founders Club. After Chelsea and I attended her amazing event where we got to meet other founders, business owners, VCs and new startups it was clear that Shirah knew what she was doing and an unstoppable force. Her story began as a teen whose friend had her drink spiked at an outing which led to Shirah thinking that there has to be a way to stop that from happening. Her thought turned to immediate action where she took a scrunchie and other materials and created a rough prototype that essentially covered any drink to prevent from drink spiking. With the help of her family she took her idea and started to work with manufacturers and production facilities until the exact idea became a reality which is now called NIGHTCAPit. As a result, she was invited on Shark Tank and pitched her idea where Shark Lori Greiner invested in helping her grow the product. Shirah has sold over 500k products in over 40 countries and now focusing on legislation where bars, clubs and other places will have to provide a covering on drinks if asked for. Now, Shirah focuses her time on running her business from anywhere she pleases and looks to connect and grow with other founders and business owners. If you are thinking about an idea, starting a business or seeking an entrepreneurial journey she says "throw yourself into it' and make it become a reality. On SUPERWOMEN, I talked to Shirah Benarde, the 22-year-old CEO and co-founder of NightCap. When she was just 16, Shirah found out that one of her friends had been roofied. Not long after, she got to work, taping together a pair of pantyhose and a scrunchie to make a prototype of a device that can help protect people from drink-spiking. Cut to one year later: Shirah and her brother Michael pitched the product on “Shark Tank” and secured a deal. But launching her business as a Gen Z founder was far from easy. “I knew deep down that I had no idea what I was doing, and that made it really hard for other people to see me in a professional way,” she told me. Shirah pushed herself to really understand her business, making costly mistakes along her journey.“We definitely spent a lot of money on things that we didn't know that worked,” she said, “but it was a huge learning lesson.” In the process of building her company, she discovered how to get people to trust her vision: “You have to take yourself seriously.” NightCap has since taken off, partnering with nonprofits, and over 200 universities. The company has also been spearheading legislation to help people stay safe when they go out. This week on SUPERWOMEN, I talked to @shirahbenarde, the 22-year-old CEO and co-founder of @nightcapit about drink-spiking and her life-saving (literally!) accessories that help people stay safe when they go out. Shirah lets us in how she deals with the stigma of being a Gen Z woman in business, her time on “Shark Tank,” and how she personally convinced the CEO of a multinational fashion company at a conference to team up with her company.Thank you for listening! With Rabbi Choni Friedman from Pittsburgh, PASupport us here  We are excited to launch a Shir Hashirim Weekly Daf Cycle to be learned in addition to the Daily Daf of Torah Ohr in order to finish the entire Torah Ohr / Likkutei Torah in one year!“Shir Hashirim asher l'Shlomo, yashekeini m'nishikas pihu, ki tovim dodecha m'yayin”Hashem is called Chosson, and BN”Y (collectively and individually) are called Kallah. Chosson implies hashpaah: Hashem gives Himself to BN”Y through Torah.Kalah implies 1) nullification, and 2) desire. In Krias Shemah, there are two types of MS”N. The first is related to “Echad”, and the second to “B'chol nafshecha”.Q1- what are these two types of MS”N?Q2- what is the difference between the two?Q3- if the first one implies complete bittul, how does one then have the second one, which is a result of realizing that Hashem is the source of one's life?A1/2/3: The first kind of MS”N occurs when one contemplates the fact that from the perspective of Ein Sof, nothing exists outside of Hashem (Echad). From this perspective, Chillul Hashem= identifying something as being separate/distinct from Hashem, including one's own self. One's desires are completely nullified, and all that is left is one's desire to be enveloped in Ein Sof (mi li bashomayim). (This is the perspective of YICH”I)The second type of MS”N comes when one is aware of one's self and the world as separate from Hashem, but desires to come close to Hashem. In between these two types of MS”N (and the source of the latter) is Boruch shem, which represents the way Hashem is invested in creating the world, and yet at the same time, the world is not really separate from Elokus (This is the perspective of YICH”T)Through this, we can go from the level of echad to the level of bchol nafshecha. The two types of Kallah correspond to two types of Chosson. The first type of Chosson (we will discuss the second type next week)We need to understand the idea of “shmo hagadol”, “hu ushmo bilvad”:Hakadosh Baruch Hu= Atzmus. “yoshev v'osek b'Torah”= the way Atzmus invests itself in Torah. At the deepest level, Shmo=Yicholes. This is shmo Hagadol, which is infinite. Creation only comes from a progression of SHSH”T+Tzimtzumim (which allows for there not to be any change in Hashem, and for the world to be limited). There is the way Torah exists in Atzilut (Oraysa m'Chochma…) and there is the higher level of Torah (Taamei Torah) which is beyond Atzilus and is rooted in Taanug (Kesser). This is called the “song of Torah” (raninah d'oraisah) and is expressed in the musical notation of Torah, which is higher than the letters of Torah.“Shirah”= the way each level of SD”H ascends to the level above it, in a way of RTV”S, oleh v'yored. This is the level of Kalah. Through this, we reach the raninah d'Oraysa=Shmo Hagadol=Oneg HaElyon, Chosson.“Asher l'Shlomo”: Shalom= peace, unity between Hashem and the world. This occurs through Torah/Taanug. “Yashkeini m'nishikas pihu”: Hashem's investment of Himself into (Taamei) Torah. Just as neshikin implies an expression of love that is beyond language and can only be expressed in a physical act, so too, Torah represents the deepest expression of Hashem's love towards BN”Y, and His desire to connect to them through His confining (Tzimztum) of Himself in Torah, Shmo Hagadol.ConceptsHashem= Chosson, BN”Y= KallahTwo types of MS”N= YICH”I/YICH”TTorah is the deepest expression of Hashem's desSupport the show (https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=SVCNKGSMCEANE) ★ Support this podcast ★

NightCap, as Shirah describes it, is a fun solution to a serious problem. She shares how having something slipped into your drink is a much more serious problem than many are aware of. This is often due to the fact that most incidents do not get reported. This happened to one of her friends when she was a teenager, and she was inspired to design a product that deters bad actors and also serves as a method of prevention for having your drink tampered with when you are out having fun. With the help of her family, she was able to turn this idea into a successful business. In this episode, I spoke with Shirah Benarde as she shares the inspiring journey of creating NightCap, a company focused on drink spiking prevention through innovative products like scrunchies and key chains that also cover drinks. Starting with an idea born from a dream at age 16, Shera developed a prototype using stockings and scrunchies and, after numerous iterations, brought NightCap to market. She discusses the challenges faced, such as initial skeptical consumer reception and how marketing on social media and appearing on Shark Tank enabled the product's success. Shera emphasizes the importance of awareness around drink spiking and NightCap's fun yet protective nature and encourages entrepreneurs to act on their ideas without striving for perfection. NightCap is a leading example of balancing fun with safety, providing a crucial deterrent against drink spiking while fostering conversation and education about personal safety. Connect with us:NightCapNightCap InstagramNightCap TikTokShe Built It® Instagram She Built It® CEO, Melanie Barr InstagramMelanie Barr LinkedInShe Built It® LinkedIn

When you socialize regularly in college, you tend to develop deep and lasting relationships. Even if some of the connections are shorter-term, they can support you in different ways. For example, maybe a college friend in your major is interested in starting a business with you.   According to American Addictions Centers, around 50 percent of women and men surveyed have had their drinks or food spiked at least once. This is a major issue facing Americans. It is also not an act that always involves street drugs being discreetly slipped into a victim's drink. Most often, alcohol is used to facilitate the crime of drug-assisted sexual assault. What also complicates spiking may be a lack of confidence in reporting the issue or even recognizing the symptoms.   Shirah Benarde is the CEO and Co-Founder at NightCap, an innovative company addressing drink spiking prevention. NightCap was invented by Shirah Benarde from West Palm Beach, Florida when she was 16 years old. The idea came to her in a dream after hearing about the horrors of drink spiking from friends who experienced it after going off to college. Fortunately, her friends were okay, but Shirah was determined to come up with a pragmatic solution to this problem that could protect her and her friends when they went off to college.   Shirah, a 21-year-old Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and co-founder of NightCap, transformed a personal tragedy into a mission to safeguard nightlife after a friend fell victim to drink spiking. At just 17, she appeared on Shark Tank, securing one of the fastest deals in the show's history. NightCap has since sold over 500,000 units across 40+ countries and partnered with over 170 major universities.   She also wanted to make sure that the product would be something that girls would feel comfortable using. The next morning, she went to her mother's closet, grabbed a pair of pantyhose, cut them up, and attached them to a scrunchie to create the first prototype.   For more information: https://nightcapit.com/ Follow: @nightcapit
