Questions? Comments? Text Us!In the newest What's On Your Mind, host Scott Langdon sits down with Dr. Jerry L. Martin for a deep and heartfelt conversation about divine growth, spiritual tension, and the unfolding mystery of God's nature. As they revisit God's revelation to the ancient prophet Zoroaster, the discussion opens with Jerry's experience of spiritual anxiety, and how his body reacted to the unknown before divine communication began. This leads into a powerful exploration of how God Himself describes being not all-powerful, not all-knowing, and not all-good; at least not in the absolute sense. Instead, God is growing, evolving, and seeking fullness through relationship, through the world, and through us.Through Zoroaster's divine encounter, God comes to see His “other side.” A concept that challenges traditional theology but resonates deeply with those who see spirituality as a journey, not a fixed set of beliefs. Scott and Jerry explore themes like duality, good and evil, panentheism, and the reality of imperfection in divine creation.Drawing from metaphors in music, embodiment, and human love, the conversation touches on Beethoven, spiritual embodiment, and how meaning is co-created through lived experience. This episode will speak to anyone curious about the divine, questioning inherited beliefs, or wondering if God can grow with us.

Send us a texthttps://www.pastorbencooper.co.uk/What happens when the eternal pierces the temporary? When heaven breaks into the rhythms of ordinary life, even the most seasoned believers can find themselves trembling. In this soul-stirring episode, we dive deep into Luke 1:5–25, where Zachariah, a blameless priest of Israel, stands in the Holy Place—offering incense to God—when the angel Gabriel suddenly appears.Zachariah wasn't unfaithful. He wasn't rebellious. He was righteous, aged, and obedient. Yet when the divine touched the natural, he was gripped with fear. His reaction wasn't a failure; it was a mirror. This moment echoes throughout Scripture: when God draws near, trembling follows. Moses hid his face (Exodus 3:6). Isaiah cried, “Woe is me!” (Isaiah 6:5). Daniel fainted (Daniel 10:8–10). Zachariah joins a long line of prophets and priests whose first response to God's glory was fear. But here's where it gets personal—Zachariah doubted. He asked, “How can I be sure?” And God, in His mercy, doesn't cast him aside. Instead, He silences him. The silence wasn't punishment—it was pruning. It was a sacred pause to prepare him for a greater unveiling. In the silence, faith grew. Sometimes God removes our voice so we can hear His more clearly.Zachariah and Elizabeth's barrenness was not a barrier; it was the very condition God chose to reveal His power. Their child would be John the Baptist, the prophetic bridge between the Old Covenant and the New, the “voice crying out in the wilderness” (Isaiah 40:3). This wasn't just a birth—it was a fulfillment of generations of promise.Fear didn't cancel Zachariah's calling—and it won't cancel yours. If you've been feeling silenced by anxiety, disqualified by age, or paralyzed by doubt, this episode is for you. God often calls us in our weakness, not despite it. He works in trembling hearts, not fearless ones.We unpack how worship becomes our way through fear, not around it. 1 John 4:18 tells us “Perfect love casts out fear,” but that's not a one-time event. That's a journey. Psalm 56:3 doesn't say “if I'm afraid,” but “when I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Fear may visit, but it doesn't have to rule.

Questions? Comments? Text Us!What happens when a philosophy professor, known for teaching logic and critical thinking, has an undeniable encounter with God? Dr. Jerry L. Martin was a lifelong agnostic until one day, to his great surprise, God spoke to him. As a philosopher, he had no choice but to investigate. In this episode of From God to Jerry to You, Jerry takes a deep dive into one of the most pivotal moments in spiritual history: Moses and the burning bush. He unpacks not just what happened, but what it means for all of us. Why did God choose a burning bush? What was significant about Moses' response? And what can we learn from this moment about how the divine reaches out to us today? With his signature curiosity and philosophical rigor, Jerry distills 9 key lessons from Moses' encounter- lessons that challenge us to pay attention, trust, and respond when something greater calls. Jerry also reflects on how his own encounter with God mirrored aspects of Moses' story, from the shock of the experience to the life-altering consequences of obedience and saying "yes" to the divine. This isn't just a story from ancient scripture- it's a blueprint for how spiritual awakenings unfold and an invitation to examine your own encounters with the unseen. Are you paying attention?Visit godanautobiography.com for more information and to get your copy of God: An Autobiography, As Told To A Philosopher—the true story of an agnostic philosopher who heard the voice of God and recorded their conversations.Other Series:The podcast began with the Dramatic Adaptation of the book and now has several series:Life Wisdom Project: How to live a wiser, happier, and more meaningful life with special guests. From God To Jerry To You: Calling for the attention of spiritual seekers everywhere, featuring breakthroughs, pathways, and illuminations. Two Philosophers Wrestle With God: Sit in on a dialogue between philosophers about God and the questions we all have. What's On Our Mind- Connect the dots with Jerry and Scott over the most recent series of episodes. What's On Your Mind: What are readers and listeners saying? Questions? Comments? Text Us!Does God test us? What does obedience to God really mean? In this episode of What's On Our Mind, Scott Langdon and Dr. Jerry L. Martin dive deep into the complex and often misunderstood concepts of obedience, trust, and free will in our relationship with God.Exploring the story of Abraham and Isaac, they discuss whether obedience is simply following commands or if it is something much deeper- a spiritual transformation that brings us into alignment with God's will. Is faith about blind submission, or is it a partnership with the Divine?Through thought-provoking analogies of music, dance, and orchestration, Scott and Jerry reveal how obedience isn't about rigid control but about harmonizing with God's presence in our lives. They also uncover God's ultimate desire- not to demand unquestioning obedience, but to lead us toward fulfillment, awakening, and divine partnership.Join us as we break down misconceptions about faith, question whether God truly “tests” us, and discuss how to discern God's voice in our lives. If you've ever struggled with trusting God's plan or wondered what it means to truly walk in faith, this episode is for you.

"Born Again: A Life Changing Conversation" - Come and See Series Through the powerful nighttime encounter between Nicodemus and Jesus, we explore what it truly means to be "born again" and why religious knowledge alone isn't enough for salvation. This message reveals four critical insights about authentic faith: • Why intellectual understanding and religious status don't equal true salvation • The difference between seeking Jesus for answers versus seeking Him as Lord • Understanding spiritual transformation versus religious effort • How God's love transforms us from the inside out Key Scripture: John 3:1-15 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/JHN.3.NIV) This message challenges both seekers and long-time believers to examine their relationship with Jesus. Are we content with head knowledge, or are we allowing Jesus to transform our hearts? Through Nicodemus's story, discover why coming to Jesus requires more than curiosity - it demands surrender and openness to complete spiritual transformation. Anchor Scripture(s): Exodus 32:1-12 NKJV | This sermon entitled "Understanding Divine Encounter - Part 2" was delivered at the RCCG POV Sunday Service. It focuses on divine encounters by desperation. This type of divine encounter happens as a result of dissatisfaction with one's present situation or status quo. Every divine encounter by desperation is self-initiated. God introduces Himself, however, the responsibility to grow the relationship lies with the individual. This message shows the conditions to initiate a divine encounter, namely: (1) a pure motive, and (2) the love for God. The platforms for an encounter are (1) the Word of God (1 Samuel 3:21), (2) prayer (Acts 9), (3) Fasting (Isaiah 58:8), (4) praise and worship - Psalm 100:1-5, and (5) Service/hospitality - Hebrews 13:2. This is a conversation about certainty, mystery, and the divine. Our guest today is Liz Charlotte Grant, author of the book "Knock at the Sky." Liz takes us on a journey through her own life, from growing up in the certainty of white American evangelicalism, to encountering the mystery and presence of God in powerful experiences. As Liz dives into the book of Genesis, she shows us how reading the scriptures through a literary lens can breathe new life into these ancient stories. We explore the idea of God as a generous host, setting the table for humanity, and the importance of encountering the divine, even when it challenges our preconceptions. Liz encourages us to approach these texts with curiosity and humility, allowing our questions to guide us rather than clinging to rigid certainty. She reminds us that God is not afraid of our questions - in fact, engaging with the mystery may be the path to a deeper, more vibrant faith. This is a conversation that invites us to expand our imaginations, to see God in new ways, and to welcome others as fellow image-bearers. Luke 1:26-38 (ESV) Birth of Jesus Foretold 26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed[a] to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”[b] 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” 34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”[c] 35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born[d] will be called holy—the Son of God. 36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.” 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant[e] of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Jesus acknowledges the multitude's lingering questions and instructs them to ponder and pray until his return. Despite his urgency to minister to the lost tribes, Jesus lengthens his stay to heal the sick and bless the children, displaying profound compassion. The Nephites witness miraculous healings and angelic visitations. Jesus introduces the sacrament, emphasizing its significance. He concludes by empowering his disciples with the Holy Ghost and ascends into heaven, leaving the Nephites in awe of the divine manifestations they witnessed.
Catastrophic events cause terrible destruction in the Western Hemisphere, attesting to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem. Chapter 8 details the overwhelming natural disasters that swept across the land, transforming the landscape and causing widespread devastation. As the people of Nephi grapple with the aftermath, they hear the voice of Christ proclaiming the destruction of their cities because of their wickedness. After some time, the remaining righteous of the people gather together at the temple and witness a profound event: the appearance of Jesus Christ. Amidst their astonishment and sorrow, the Savior speaks to them, offering a message of repentance and redemption. This divine encounter marks a pivotal moment, transforming mourning into joy and leading to the establishment of an increased spiritual foundation for the survivors.
Pastor Ethan brings us back to the book of Acts with a message on our calling as a church from Acts 8:26-40.

Father Len helps us grapple with tough times in our lives and understand the virtue of hope. What is it? Where does it come from? Why it's essential for peace and joy in our lives. Support Wrestling with God Productions: https://www.GiveSendGo.com/WWGProductions Highlights, Ideas, and Wisdom Paula D'Arcy Theologian of Hope “Gift of the Red Bird: The Story of a Divine Encounter” by Paula D'Arcy Faith, hope and love are different aspects of one spiritual reality. Hope is illogical. It's not a matter of sitting down and rationalizing with people why they should have hope. If you have some rational reason for hope, that's not hope. That's logic. Fear is logical. Depressed people are not irrational. They're just excessively logical and obsessed with their current state of life. “Notes from the Underground: The Original Unabridged and Complete Edition” by Fyodor Dostoyevsky Wealth, comfort and safety don't bring hope. Poverty and abuse don't take away hope. Hope is a theological virtue. It comes from God alone, not the circumstances of your life. Hope obliterates the idea that life should be easy. Hope is uncertain, it believes in possibilities. Hope takes work to participate in. It comes from this relationship with divine love and life. The Book of Revelation reveals the struggles we have on earth and tells us how the story ends with a huge victory party in heaven. “Optimism and pessimism are twins. Both are blind to possibilities and lock you in to your current state of life. Optimism believes you will always be happy and beautiful, with a full head of hair. Pessimism believes life will always be crap.” – Father Len Hope is not optimism. We live better in the United States than any human beings in history. We live in such incredible comfort. Yet, our young people have the highest rate of suicide and the highest use of prescription pharmaceutical drugs to deal with depression. If circumstances give hope, our children should be thriving. “We live in a culture of hopelessness because we keep telling people, you need the right circumstances to be happy. Unless you're a Kardashian, with tons of money and social media likes, unless the world treats you a certain way, you're a victim.” – Father Len Hopelessness suffocates hope. “Why Young Men: Rage, Race and the Crisis of Identity” – Jamil Jivani It's a myth to tell people if they have the right circumstances, they'll be happy, they'll be hopeful.
