Cody was an only child who moved around a lot as a child due to his father's military career. After high school, Cody lived on the streets, in a commune, and in friends backyards, and then in a brush shelter as he was attending college where he earned a B.A. in Depth Psychology and Holistic Health (Prescott College). Cody founded the Aboriginal Living Skills School in 1991, in Prescott Arizona where he teaches wilderness survival, and primitive living skills among others. Cody lives "off-grid" and he hasn't worn shoes, or pants for over 25 years. Cody has great pride, and confidence in his abilities, and in sharing those things with his fans and students. He's authored two books: 98.6 Degrees: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive, and When All Hell Breaks Loose: Stuff You Need to Survive When Disaster Strikes. Cody hosted Discovery Channels Lost in the Wild in 2004, and was a co-host alongside Dave Canterbury on Discovery's Dual Survival from 2010-2014.

You may recognise Cody Lundin from the TV, you may have read his books, if not, Cody is a survival instructor of the highest calibre. AL and Tom speak to Cody about his life and what it means to be in his position when it comes to calling out all of the bulls**t that we see on TV when it comes to survival. Cody also gives you listeners some hand survival pointers just in case you find yourselves exposed to the elements. In the Later Lounge AL gets Tom to score an American BBQ join that he visited in Shrewsbury, aka the Smoke Stop (they do a mean BBQ brisket). The guys also cover episodes 1-2 of Loki with some heavy spoilers.
Fast this way. Dave Asprey. This is water. David Foster . Believe!,.
Poet, librarian and educator, Alison Rollins talks with Nat and Nina about survival of many kinds, including wilderness time travel, archives, and letting the birds come to you. Find Alison's book Library of Small Catastrophes with Copper Canyon Press, and find another great interview with Alison and fellow queer survivalist Latria Graham at the Poetry Podcast. Also! You can now support Queers At the End of the World on Patreon by going to patreon.com/queersattheendoftheworld. Come to support queer art, stay for a bunch more queer art! Please note that this version of the interview is a slightly edited form of the episode we originally put out, and that’s because one of our awesome listeners from Australia got in touch to tell us that the course name for Cody Lundin’s class includes a word that is incredibly offensive there, a slur that’s used against indigenous people. We’ve taken it out of this version, because we don’t want anyone else to feel that gut punch. We do want to say that we’re super grateful to the person who called us in about it. This show is a relationship with you, each other, and our guests, and that means we really, really hope that if any of you listeners is ever like, do Nat and Nina want to know that this thing they said caused me pain? Or do Nat and Nina want to know that something they said stands to harm folks I care about? The answer is yes. We want to know. And we’ll be grateful anytime we’re given a chance to try and repair. Send us a message if you want to talk, and thanks for listening! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/queerworlds/support

In this week's episode we had the chance to talk with our good friend and hiking super enthusiast, Najib Alami. We talked about all things outdoors and how it's an aspect of life that we as people are losing more and more each day. Have a listen! "I've always been tied to nature and the mountains for as long as I can remember- the experiences, the physical, the psychological, the emotional, and the spiritual connection- I am the mountains and the mountains are me. My introduction as a little child to the wilderness by my parents and my cousins - the mountains have become my healthy addiction and it's energy and soul has taken my heart and soul. Inspirations by “celebrity survival or primitive experts” such as Les Stroud, Bear Grylls, Cody Lundin, Matt Graham, Joe Teti- have all contributed to keeping alive the skills, traditions, tools and abilities one NEEDS to have in order to survive and not lose grasp of nature due to nature deficiency. Mountains have so many lessons to teach and so many positive things to offer, especially if you are craving a healing force; you will feel peace and comfort- and it comes from Mother Nature. Mountains are our Medicine." -Najib Alami Najib's YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLOHtSKLOGHNLZ2mA79wE8w/videos -If you have questions, feedback, or would like to be considered as a guest on the podcast, please email us at: DiametricConvergence@gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/DiametricConvergence/ #ColoradoHiking #ColoradoAdventures #TheThrillOfTheChase #ForrestFennTreasure #ForrestFenn #RockyMountains #Survival #Hiking #WorldTravel #WorldAdventures --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

During these years of migration, with no formal base to call home, Nature became Cody’s constant companion. Today he is one of the world’s leading survival experts and the founder of the Aboriginal Living Skills School. He has been featured in media outlets including The Today Show, History Channel, Dateline NBC, CBS News, USA Today, The New York Times, Good Morning America, Newsweek, Fox News, and CNN to name a few. Let's connect: Website | Facebook | Twitter About Your Host Jim Harshaw My name is Jim Harshaw. And I know where you’re at. You’re working hard and qualified for what you do but you aren’t getting what you want. You have plans on getting to the C-suite or launching a business but ultimate success seems as far away today as ever. You’re at the right place because you can get there from here. And I can help. Who I Am I’m a speaker, coach, and former Division I All-American wrestler that helps motivated former athletes to reach their full potential by getting clarity on what they really want and taking aggressive action to lead their ideal life not just despite their prior failures but because of them. I’m a husband and father of four. And I’m a serial entrepreneur. I’ve launched multiple successful businesses as well as the obligatory failed one. I’ve been the executive director of a non-profit and have raised millions of dollars. I’ve worked in sales. I’ve even been a Division I head coach. While I was born in a blue-collar home I have spent my life surrounded by Olympians, CEO’s and millionaires. Jim Rohn said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” I’ve been lucky. I’ve learned the habits of successful people and guess what. You’re just like them. I know because I know your type. You’re programmed for hard work, which is a prerequisite for success, but you’ve never been shown how to use what you know to create the life you want with the tools you have. I will show you how. Why You Are Here You've worked hard to achieve greatness. You’ve set goals and maybe even set records. You’ve definitely failed and you’ve at some point found yourself questioning if you were on the right track. You need to understand this: You are far more prepared to succeed than those who’ve not tried, competed, struggled and overcome like you have. That’s the value of your education as someone who aims high. You are prepared to be as successful as your wildest dreams will allow. Here I will teach you, with the help of brilliant minds that have been shaped by failure, struggle, and adversity, to be who you want to be. I sense that you want this because you have read this far. Today's Flash Back Friday takes us back to episode 9, from October 5, 2009. Everyone had to do the same standard fire and earthquake drills in school, but were we ever really prepared for what to do if a disaster hits your community and you're suddenly in charge of your family's survival? Jason Hartman talks with Cody Lundin, best-selling author of 2 survival and preparedness books: 98.6 Degrees: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive, and When All Hell Breaks Loose: Stuff You Need to Survive When Disaster Strikes. Cody's survival expertise comes especially from the two years he spent living in a brush shelter in the woods. For those 2 years he slept on pine needles, and cooked over an open fire. His book, When All Hell Breaks Loose, aims to teach every family how to prepare mentally and physically for when a disaster hits at home, in the office, in your car, or wherever you happen to be at the time. Most importantly, these techniques need to be mastered BEFORE disaster happens. Website: www.codylundin.com
This solo episode is a comprehensive breakdown of my experiences with barefooting. As a long-time barefooting proponent, I’ve traversed thousands of miles of various terrain with bare feet or minimalist footwear, and I’ve learned quite a bit about the often unknown and under-utilized capabilities of the human foot. I detail my experiences wearing minimalist footwear in challenges like the Tough Mudder and GoRuck, as well as during my recent backcountry hunter course. I break down my favorite minimalist footwear brands, unpack the myth of arch support and share some not often discussed benefits of barefooting that I’ve discovered over the years. Note: This podcast is best enjoyed while walking barefoot on a forest trail. In an apocalypse, how would you biohack your survival? This episode dives into answering this question and discusses all things stress-related. It was a blast having Sam Sheridan, best selling author of The Disaster Diaries: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Apocalypse, on the show to talk about a wide variety of topics ranging from endurance vs. interval training to Cooper’s Color Code and shamans. You’ll hear about the science and psychology of stress, the best way to handle stress, and how to better your chances of surviving an apocalypse. Sam Sheridan was an amateur MMA fighter, EMT, wild-land fire fighter, cowboy, sailor and worked construction at the South Pole. He is also the best selling author of A Fighters Heart: One Man’s Journey Through the World of Fighting, he Fighters Mind: Inside the Mental Game. During research for his latest book The Disaster Diaries: Sam immerses himself in the survivalist and dooms-day preparation subculture by: Attending stunt driving school; Learning the art of eskrima (Filipino knife fighting); Participating in Cody Lundin’s (Dual Survival on Discovery Channel) Aboriginal Living Skills School; Learning how to steal a car with ex-gang bangers in Los Angeles. A large portion of The Disaster Diaries explains the bio-chemical cocktail that our bodies produce during moments of intense stress (i.e. an apocalypse.)
