Hoka x Bodega : collab stylée, semelle Vibram.New Balance Tokyo Design Studio : encore du Vibram. Our Legacy, Asics, Moncler, Merrell... toutes utilisent Vibram. No me he olvidado, conste.

Today on the show, outdoor retailer Wes Allen returns to talk about the article he wrote for Rock Fight about the fallout of Altra giving REI exclusivity on the newest version of the popular Lone Peak trail running shoe. The Altra Lone Peak Plus is the first version of the iconic trail runner to feature a Vibram outsole, and will be available exclusively at REI for five months. This move has sparked significant discussion among outdoor specialty retailers, as it raises concerns about the impact of exclusivity on independent shops and the overall dynamics in the outdoor retail market. Wes joins Colin, outdoor industry insider Eoin Comerford, and Producer Dave to share his perspective on this move by Altra. The conversation then turns towards the recent CEO shakeup at REI as well as thoughts on gray marketed Cotopaxi products turning up at Costco. The show of course wraps up with The Parting Shot!Read Wes's piece on the Lone Peak exclusive by clicking here.Check out hundreds of wildly cool products by visiting and shopping at Garage Grown Gear!Help those who have been impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires by clicking here. Thanks for listening! To be honest I didn't think I'd ever get Brian the Bootmaker on this show—he doesn't do many interviews at all, and for whatever reason I was, quite frankly, kind of afraid to ask him. Which in hindsight is insane because he's about as sweet and genuine and fantastic to talk to as people come. Working out of the central Los Angeles workshop he first wandered into in high school while looking for thread to customize some sneakers, Brian IS Role Club, hand-making some of the world's most distinctive and in-demand custom boots alongside his beloved teacher Nacho for going on a decade and a half. One of the earliest stories I posted on Stitchdown.com was about a YouTube video of Brian resoling an Alden Indy Boot with a Vibram mini ripple sole. Some said it was sacrilege! But all of Brian's videos, and work, reflect him so well. He's an innovator despite relying on techniques hundreds of years old, a calm in the content storm, a still young man who loves nothing more than really old boots. And one of the most thoughtful people I've ever chatted with. Also he just might be Mister Rogers. Come to Stitchdown's Boot Camp, the world's fair of shoes and boots and leather and more in Brooklyn this Oct 12-13, 2024.https://www.stitchdownbootcamp.com/Support the Shoecast and join the most interesting shoe-and-boot-loving community on the internet with a Stitchdown Premium membershiphttps://www.stitchdown.com/join-stitchdown-premium/

Robert Fliri, an Italian designer and innovator in footwear design, shares his journey of reconnecting with nature and developing the concept of natural footwear. He grew up in the mountains, surrounded by nature, and was always drawn to technology and mechanical engineering. However, he felt a disconnect when he entered the world of design and decided to create a footwear prototype that would allow him to feel the ground like he was barefoot but with protection. This led to the development of Vibram FiveFingers, a glove-like shoe that revolutionized the way people think about footwear. The conversation explores the journey of Vibram's FiveFingers shoes and the natural foot movement. Robert Fliri, a product developer at Vibram, discusses the importance of finding balance in movement and not pushing oneself beyond their limits. He emphasizes the idea of using footwear as tools to extend human capabilities, but also recognizes the value of the human foot as the perfect tool for running and walking. The conversation delves into the initial response to FiveFingers, the challenges faced in bringing the product to market, and the controversy surrounding the health benefits of the shoe. It also touches on the need for proper education and a gradual transition when adopting a natural footwear approach. The conversation concludes with a discussion on the future of the natural foot movement and the potential for wider public adoption.

Trading her feet in the water for her feet in the dirt, Robyn set her sights on a life on the trails and in the mountains. For someone who was convinced that they couldn't run, to qualifying as the second-fastest woman in North America on the Golden Trail Series, Robyn continues to put the puzzle pieces into place as a professional trail runner for Vibram, whilst being a capo in the South Island-based  Katie Wright Mafia.
