Episode 110. In this conversation, Kate sits down with author Bonnie Tsui to talk about her new book On Muscle: The Stuff that Moves Us and Why It Matters. This episode explores themes of strength, resilience, and the interplay between the physical and the philosophical. Kate and Bonnie have a wide ranging discussion that spans the metaphor and biology of muscle, how death brings us into the present, and the joy found in movement and play. They touch on how strength is also about what moves us, not just physically, but socially, touching on the importance of collective movement and community resilience. It's an exploration into how physical activities can foster connection and healing. They also delve into the science behind movement, the significance of finding connection in everyday life, and the power of incremental change in personal strength. The conversation concludes with a light-hearted discussion about whales, joy, and the connections we share with nature.Find Bonnie: Instagram: @bonnietsui8WebsiteOn Muscle: The Stuff that Moves Us and Why It MattersSarah and the Big WaveWhy We SwimAmerican ChinatownSupport Kate: PatreonSubstackPayPal-Leave a One Time TipBest of Movement Focused Episodes:Episode 94: An Ecology of Movement with Katy Bowman Episode 109: We Can Pick Up and Carry Heavy Loads: Exploring Movement in Context with Kate KavanaughEpisode 64: One Foot in Front of the Other with Kate KavanaughEpisode 77: Our Relationship to Resources with Kate KavanaughEpisode 54: Staying Human is the Greatest Skill with Daniel Vitalis

As the digital world looms, this discussion is an exploration of built and natural worlds and how they impact us as a species. Daniel Vitalis, host of WildFed on the Outdoor Channel and formerly host of the podcasts Rewild Yourself and Wild Fed, joins Kate in a conversation that finds humanity at different points in time and with different viewpoints of time itself. It's an exploration of the environments that shaped our species, from our hunter-gatherer roots, to agriculture, and into our dreams of launching ourselves into space. At this precipice that we find ourselves on, it's more important than ever to consider how modern thinking has been shaped by our environments - the natural world, the built world, the socio-political world, and beyond. Nested in the conversation is an exploration of death's role in connecting us to reality and to our food. Towards the end, there is a question around what skills we want future generations to know that we must keep alive today, as it's not just multiple species that are on the brink of extinction. We also talk about:Living in captivity and the degeneration of humansHow our thoughts and viewpoints might impact something like how we run or swimCyclical time Find Daniel:Instagram: @wild.fed @danielvitalis @surthrival Website: WildFed, Surthrival Podcasts: WildFed, Rewild Yourself Timestamps:00:00:00: Kate introduces Daniel in her intro00:09:16: Built vs Natural world 00:22:48: A Space Race00:32:50: Are we zoo animals?00:43:22: Feeding hunter-gatherers00:50:49: Cataclysmic events change humans01:00:31: How we think influences how we do anything01:07:50: Getting back to cycles: men, women, time, days of the week01:24:20: Death is part of the cycle01:39:52: Saving skills for the next generationOther Great Interviews with Daniel: on the Align PodcastOn Luke Storey(A Few) Favorite Episodes of Wild Fed:Doug Bock ClarkPhilippe Grenade-WillisDan FloresBooks Mentioned:Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

In this episode, I talk to Daniel Vitalis. He is the host of the television show WildFed on the Outdoor Channel. What can I say, Daniel and I talk about some things that have never been talked about on this podcast before. Creationism, Luciferian influences in modern culture, and the mind raping of the masses are just some of the rabbit holes we go down in this episode. This episode is very removed from the norm of this show. However, it all ties together in the end. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We're back for another episode this week, our second conversation-style AMA where I'm joined by my bright-minded cohort, Bailey, to field questions from the Life Stylist Facebook group, which you too can join by simply searching for the group and requesting access to join the fun. As usual, we don't cover as much ground as we planned – but this one is packed with useful information nonetheless. We start with deep diet-based musings on veganism and the ancestral power of animal-based protein, move through a couple full-body wellness favorites in red light and ozone therapies, bust myths about probiotics and non-VOC paints, and close by ruffling some feathers in the earthing/grounding industry. It truly is an honor for me to share what I've learned along the way on my journey. My learnings, my wounds, my lessons – are my gift to you. And I'm as thankful as ever that you make the conscious decision to receive that gift each and every week. DISCLAIMER: This podcast is presented for educational and exploratory purposes only. [include file=get-in-itunes.html]Daniel Vitalis from Surthrival.com joined us to talk about the noble qualities of water, where water comes from, water filtration, vortex energy and so much more. You know it's interesting how little we really understand about this magical liquid substance we call water. Scientists still can't tell us accurately why water acts the way it does. One of the things we do know is that water is substance from which we build our blood. As it has been said, the life of the flesh is in the blood. Oxygen rich red blood cells as well as immune system white blood cells are all carried by means of the blood. If you listened to our interview with Dr. Harvey Bigelsen, you'll know that the blood is a hologram and has holographic qualities. Dr. Bigelsen has even seen pictures in the blood of events that haven't even happened to people yet. That means that somehow the blood is outside of time and perhaps exists in multiple dimensions? It's enough to make your head spin. Listen to that show and you'll understand how important your blood is and all of the mysterious qualities that surround it. We build our blood our of the water that we drink. If we're drinking plastic tap water loaded with synthetic chemicals, phyto estrogens and other contaminants, how can you expect your blood (your very life) to be healthy? Lots of reports have been coming out stating that some bottled water companies are taking recylcled municipal city water and bottling that up and putting their labels on it. It would be healthier for you to drink the unfiltered tap water because at least you're not getting the water absorbing xeno estrogens from plastic bottle sitting in the sun. Then if you switch to municipal city water for your water source, you've got a whole host of other issues. Some city waters actually fluroridate their water which causes a whole cascade of health problems. The first couple that come to mind are microscopic spores of nano bacteria and inorganic calcium along with the hardening and calcification of the pineal gland. If you're interested in the dangers of calcium you can read more about that by clicking the link above. On top of the calcium and fluoride issues on city water, you have homeopathic residues of chemotherapy, prescription drugs and chemicals of all kinds. Where does that leave us? Tap water is out and so is bottled water. There are some great filters we recommend but we recommend finding a spring and using that for the water you drink. We understand you can't shower in your fresh spring water but you can get a filter for your shower and to do your dishes but for drinking, Daniel and I both recommend spring water from the source. Daniel Vitalis is a true resource of amazing and unique information in this world. He delivers information about complex subject matter in very entertaining and unique ways which are easy to understand. We hope you enjoy this interview with Mr. Daniel Vitalis on the subject of water and our goal is for you to understand and treat this magical substance in a more sacred way. Also if you can please make a donation to FindASpring.com so he can continue to further this important work. After you listen, comment below and tell us what you think! We discuss the following and so much more: Where real water comes from How water is not just H2o How water can be structured How water can carry information within it The problems with bottled and tap water His worst to best list of preferred waters His thoughts about Fiji water What he thinks about well water, de-ionized water, reverse osmosis water and other waters And so much more! What a fun show we had with Mr. Daniel Vitalis today all about business, his story and why he started Surthrival. We talked a lot about capitalism and why that system is not something that he endorses and yet we must live in it so why not make it work for us? We talked about doing business consciously and ethically with the root desire being to help people in their lives. Daniel's work has to do with creating products and supplements that help people feel better and have more energy which ultimately translates to more fulfillment in all areas of their life. Then on the flip side of his business he loves to give rise to cutting edge information that is also designed to wake people up and open their eyes so they can be empowered to make changes in their lives. With that in mind, we talked about how and why he started Surthrival and some of the ethical practices he infuses not only into his business but into his personal life as well. One of the main things we talked about was developing yourself and that means maintaining a spiritual practice as well as a health practice and a practice where you're stimulated in every area of your life. When you're constantly learning, evolving and growing in your relationships and even mentally, you're going to learn who you are and what you stand for. You're going to "come into your own" as a person and begin to have a set of ethics and principles by which you live your life. While you're doing all that (if you're interested in being an entrepreneur) you can start developing a small community around all that you're learning. In a couple of years when you're rooted in a firm foundation of what you're on earth to do (and you have a growing community built around that) launching a website and starting a business is simply another extension of what you're giving birth to in the world. It's a beautiful process if you balance all 4 elements (like Daniel talks about on the show) in your life while having the intention of helping people in this life. Daniel's heart really showed in this show and we know you'll notice it as he explains his ideas. :) If you enjoyed this show, please do us a favor and click like and share on this page to share this knowledge with your friends. Thanks for tuning in today! Every once and a while it's fun to take a break from interviewing and just have a conversation between Daniel and our producer and editor Grant — musing, rambling, and recounting our recent adventures and shenanigans. If you're new to the show, maybe go back an episode to hear our typical format. Otherwise, behold the obnoxious characters who bring you these shows each week, as they sound when not speaking to their betters. Here in Maine, we are beginning the descent into winter. We're pretty excited about that. We're gonna get some much-needed catch-up time at home, the ice fishing season will start soon, and we can put the finishing touches on Season 3 of the WildFed TV show before it goes to air. We still have a little bit of filming left for Season 3 of WildFed, and everything is on track for a Season 4 — so if all goes as planned we'll jump right into filming again this coming spring! We still have time for your TV episode ideas, so please write us at info@wild-fed.com or on our social media to plant the seeds of future episodes you'd like to see, host, or even be a part of. In the meantime, we just want to thank you again for all your support! It means the world to us to have such a wonderful audience for the content we produce. So thank you for tuning in here for the podcast, and on the Outdoor Channel or Amazon Prime for the TV show. And of course, we'll be back next week with another interview — covering the kinds of wild food and ecological literacy topics we love to feature here. On this episode, we're LIVE from Flaghill Distillery and Winery in Lee, New Hampshire! We sat down with Daniel Vitalis, AJ DeRosa, Emilie Cram, and Brian Ferguson to talk the future of hunting, the centrality of habitat work for sustainable wildlife populations, and much more. A special thanks to our title sponsor, Nomad Outdoor.
It's always fun for Daniel to sit down with his good friend — WildFed producer and cinematographer Grant Guiliano — to podcast without a guest. Just them, talking behind the scenes. Daniel and Grant are currently filming Season 3 of the WildFed TV show for Outdoor Channel, which means they're on the road a lot — flying, driving, boating, hunting, fishing, and foraging, and, of course, filming it all. It's a lot of hotels, AirBnBs, and time away from home. One constant is the time they end up spending together, so there's always a lot to talk about when they sit down to record a show like this one. Our team has just come off of a really exciting trip out to Maryland, where we did some offshore fishing and some inland pawpaw foraging, and so it was fun to recap those experiences. Currently, we're in the midst of filming an archery deer hunt on an island off the coast of Maine, and then we'll have 2 more episodes to make to finish out our season! Those episodes will all go live in just a few more months, so stay tuned for that! In the meantime, if there are any topics you'd like to hear us discuss or guests you'd like to hear on the show, write us at info@wild-fed.com or hit us up on any of our social media feeds. We always love hearing from you! Thanks for all your incredible support and know we are hard at work creating another great season of the WildFed TV show for you! Today's guests, Dr. Eric Laarakker and Dolf Zantinge of the innovative water structuring brand, Analemma, bring yet another mind-blowing expert perspective to the show. We talk about their incredible wand device, what it's doing to the water it's exposed to, and what important benefits water they refer to as “coherent” can have on our health and the natural world. They reaffirm what we know to be true – water is so much more than H2O. It is all around us – in the air, in our food, and in our bodies. That's why I'm so obsessed with learning more about it. I'm so stoked to bring Dr. Sarah Rahal to you all today. Finally, an expert on colostrum, nature's oldest healing elixir. For the yet uninformed, colostrum is secreted by all mammals for a few days right after giving birth, before the more commonly understood breast milk starts to flow. And yes, you guessed it – it has incredible health and healing benefits. As a huge fan of the stuff and longtime user, I had been searching for someone to speak on the subject with authority. Today is that day, folks. The fact of the matter is, and Dr. Rahal is one to cement this fact, that colostrum is the only real superfood. Why? Because it's the only one meant for our own consumption for the sole purpose of fortifying our health. Everything else is a plant or individual being that lives and survives on its own volition without us. Plain and simple: colostrum is food – first, foremost, and very specifically. We talk about its incredible molecular makeup, the 5,000+ clinical studies on colostrum that exist, and why you probably haven't heard of them. Sarah then breaks down autoimmune symptoms, leaky gut, and general inflammation as the root to most of our health challenges. For those of you listening who find yourself colostrum curious by the end of the show, Dr. Rahal's boundary breaking new brand, ARMRA, has provided a discount for you. We're diving in the deep end of one of my absolute favorite subjects today, folks, with the esteemed Dr. Gerald Pollack. Dr. Pollack's expertise in water, specifically, what he's called “fourth phase” water, is absolutely mind blowing stuff – and changes how we might think about this critically important and ever-present natural substance. Dr. Pollack is firm in his standing as what some might determine as a traditional scientist. So, while he is kind to entertain some of my more adventurous theories, his perspective is really strongly rooted in scientific method, testing, and repeatability – an important POV to be sure. Still, what he presents in this conversation is truly paradigm breaking stuff. Given his stance as a by-the-book scientist, his EZ water takeaways carry even more weight and urge even more curiosity. Reconnecting to the cycle of life pulls us back into the fact that nature's cycles affect not just our health but who we are at a fundamental level. Daniel's aim is to help close that circle and inspire all of us to reconnect to nature through food. Wild Fed is not just a TV show but also a podcast, blog and community. Do you know what species of grass you have in your backyard? Chances are, you don't. In this episode of The Align podcast, David Vitalis and I chat about our loss of connection with nature. Many of us live a life where we can't identify the animals in our backyard or the herbs that grow in our local forests, which are things hunters and gatherers used to be able to do. We unravel the implication such a change may have on our evolution as a species. We also chat about how our ancestors created communities and tribes that are different from the ones we create today. David Vitalis is a Registered Maine Guide, writer, public speaker, interviewer, and lifestyle pioneer who's especially interested in helping people reconnect with wildness, both inside and outside of themselves. After learning to hunt, fish, and forage as an adult, Daniel created WildFed to inspire others to start a wild-food journey of their own. What we discuss: 02:19: Why is the overall health of our population in constant decline despite medical and scientific advancements in health care? 05:10: Is it really possible to feed the masses without industrialized farms? 23:53: Did we make technology or did technology make us? 42:00: Is the hunter-gather theory over-romanticized? 47:53: The truth about communities and tribes 01:04:00: What does the Bible really say about God? Today Daniel's sitting down with his good friend, WildFed Cinematographer and Producer Grant Guiliano to talk a bit about what we've been up to this year and to give you a behind-the-scenes look at our upcoming third season of the WildFed TV show on Outdoor Channel. We're currently filming ten new episodes that'll debut this coming winter, so we've been in the woods and on the water, but also in the air and on the road too. Grant and Daniel don't get to do too many shows like this one, just catching up and sharing what we've been working on, so this was a lot of fun for them. We hope you enjoy it, and we hope that you — like us — are having a great season too! View full show notes, including links to resources from this episode here: https://www.wild-fed.com/podcast/140

Thanks for listening, friends! Today's topic is rewilding, a topic near and dear to my heart. If you've been listening along, you'll recall my BOSS course experience had a profound impact upon my worldview, outlook and life direction. Rewilding connects the dots between various experiences of my life, so I wanted to to share some of the ways one can get into the movement and reconnect with ancestral and primitive skills, technologies, methodologies and ways of being. I mention a few of my favorite podcasts, authors and books throughout the course of the podcast. Daniel Vitalis had an amazing podcast called ReWild Yourself; his current venture is Wild Fed. It's been highly impactful for me to listen and learn as I go; I first heard of him on the Life Stylist podcast. RewildU is a great resource for rewilding topics, as is rewild.com, especially their detailed analyses of the misrepresentations of hunter gatherers in common culture, and the huge implications those sometimes-purposeful misrepresentations have on our perception of the role of hunter gatherers, tribalism, peacefulness, land use, and their lives of meaning. It's definitely worth checking out, and checking your media-conditioned presumptions before you read the articles. Christopher McDougall wrote Born to Run, a bestselling book that spurred the interest in ultramarathons, barefoot shoes, zero drop and the colorful characters in the ultramarathon world including Jenn Shelton, Scott Jurek and Barefoot Ted who promotes natural movement. Local plant books are a great way to reconnect to the wildness and beauty around you; Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Rockies is what I'm currently reading. Enjoy the episode, folks! As always, connect with me at wisdomofthewilderness@protonmail.com with questions, comments and guest requests. Cheers! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wisdomofthewilderness/message

Daniel Vitalis joins the show for a fascinating conversation about connecting to the natural world through food and how to positively impact our environment, communities, and family by learning practical lessons and outdoor skills to improve our lives in an overly digital and virtual world. The topics covered are broad, ranging from the local food model to Otzi the Iceman.Daniel is a successful entrepreneur, public speaker, podcaster, writer, lifestyle pioneer, hunting guide, and ancestral living advocate. I recorded this interview some years ago when creating my program, Your Conscious Pregnancy and Parenting Guide. This is the first part of the interview, the conclusion of which is found inside Your Conscious Pregnancy and Parenting Guide.I just re-released this program at a fraction of the cost of the original price ($297 down to $47 USD) as I feel that the time is NOW for consciously raising our children, more than ever before. To get The Guide: www.sovereigncollective.org/gettheguide There is also a special, TIME-SENSITIVE offer included in this price that expires end of day January 6th, 2021.Daniel has deep knowledge on restoring health and there are so many applicable tips and insights in this interviewDaniel Vitalis is on a mission to re-wild the planet and to continually move towards living on this planet as the original indigenous people did - harmoniously and full of robust vigour. Luckily for us he's educating us along the whole way, providing us with many growth opportunities and tips for improving the quality of our lives and that of future generations. He is a well known speaker and educator, and today in 2020 he is the producer of the show WildFed. This is an interview that covers a lot of ground and can be controversial for some. Note, if you are a raw vegan, a portion of this interview may not please you, but please do consider what Daniel says. Here is some of what you will learn:The main factor governing how indigenous cultures choose their foodsHow we have traditionally supported healthy procreation for generationsThe key to developing a healthy nervous system in our babiesA major factor affecting modern fertility ratesWhy we need to intentionally develop our fecundityHow some men are losing some of their innate 'manly-ness'The power of epigenetics and how gene expression is controlled3 major changes we can do today to ensure the health of future generationsHow to harmonize our 'habitats'Whether raising babies as raw vegans is a good ideaThe multiple benefits of consuming colostrumWhat Daniel the future dad may look like and the environment and experiences he sees for the healthy development of his future childEnjoy! To find Daniel:http://www.danielvitalis.com/To learn more about The Guide:www.sovereigncollective.org/gettheguideSupport me: https://www.patreon.com/sovereigncollectiveEmail me: support@sovereigncollective.orgWebsite: www.sovereigncollective.org
www.sovereigncollective.org/gettheguideI am excited to announce that I am re-releasing my online program, Your Conscious Pregnancy and Parenting Guide! This is a program I created after having my son in 2009 which consists of interviews with leading experts in the fields of energy and consciousness, genetics, pregnancy and birthing, nutrition, herbology, homeopathy, parenting and more. You will recognize names such as Dr. Bruce Lipton, David Wolfe, Daniel Vitalis, Naomi Aldort and more.If anything comes out of 2020, I hope it's a re-focus and re-evaluation of how we bring our children into this world, how we raise them and how we educate them. The future lies with our children and every time we interact with them we are literally 'touching the future', as Michael Mendizza says. This program has some new content, with more new content on the way. However, the bulk of the information contained within the program is timeless and is relevant to All humans at any time of their life.I used to sell this program for $297, but now, for a limited time, it is just $47 AND if you sign up by January 6th, 2021 at midnight, you get a spot for FREE for a live online nutrition class I am putting on at the end of January. In my opinion this is amazing value, so I hope you take advantage of it. The field of pre- and peri-natal psychology has given us insight into human development and behaviour for several decades now, but the information is yet to be mainstream. I intend to change that with this program and inspire parents and parents-to-be around the world to make their health, their children and their families a top priority.Thank you for checking it out. If you like what you find, please share around. I've made it affordable so that it is accessible to mostly everyone. This is information that NEEDS to be shared so that we can correct this crash course that humanity is on before it's too late. We have to decide to make it so!Here is where you can find it:www.sovereigncollective.org/gettheguideRemember, $47 for a limited time PLUS a free class if you sign up by end of day January 6th.I'd love to hear from you!support me: https://www.patreon.com/sovereigncollectiveemail me: support@sovereigncollective.org
[include file=get-in-itunes.html] Stephen Heuer from Synergistic Nutrition joined us on the show today to talk about Green Meadow Whey! We had such a great guest on the show today. I can't get over how passionate and how energetic some of our guests are. Stephen Heuer was amazing. He was talking about the importance of detoxification for cleansing, healing, tissue repair and ultimately rebuilding the body into what it was designed for. As I said in the show, you can go down to your local GNC health store and pick up a tub of protein powder and I guarantee you the owner of that company isn't going to be as knowledgeable, passionate and energetic as Stephen Heuer is. People buy a lot of junk products and when it comes to food and supplements that's the one thing we shouldn't skimp out on. Think about it. We're putting something into our bodies and we're willing to buy cheap products for stuff we're going to put INTO our bodies? At the same time we'll spend money on a fancy car or a fancy hotel, all of which are outside our bodies. It's amazing what some people will do. Stephen Heuer has many great products over at Synergistic Nutrition (I think it used to be called Cocoon Nutrition if my memory serves me correctly) not just his flagship product which is called One World Whey. I believe it's the first whey protein powder product on the market that's grass fed and 100% raw. You're not going to find this type of product just anywhere. Stephen is really leading the way bringing cutting edge and innovative food products to the market place. It's very similar to what David Wolfe did with goji berries, cacao and maca and even what Daniel Vitalis is doing with pine pollen, deer antler and colostrum. Obviously all of these products have been on the market but not in this way. David, Daniel and Stephen are sticklers for details and are perfectionists. I can tell you right now that eating a raw grass fed protein powder like One World Whey is going to start to become a staple in your diet after listening to this interview. You're going to be so excited to try this magical substance. Stephen Heuer is really a great guy and the work he's doing at Synergistic Nutrition is just amazing. It's blows my mind that even in the worst of times (think GMO, chemtrails, vaccinations, high fructose corn syrup, McDonalds) we have the best of times. Think of ocean ormus, rock dust for our gardens, marine phytoplankton, super foods like golden berries, apricot kernels, chlorella, blue green algae as well as herbs like reishi, chaga and other medicinal mushrooms. It's amazing what we have access to today. Make sure to take advantage of all the abundance we have in our world. Pick one new super food or super herb and add it into your diet. Why not start with One World Whey protein powder? I think you're going to absolutely love it! We discuss the following and so much more: Why it's important to detoxify the body If One World Whey is okay for people with lactose intolerance or casein issues Why raw and grass fed is so important How many scoops to build muscle His current diet How much protein we need for optimum health How mercury amalgam fillings destroy our health And so much more! Daniel Vitalis is a wealth of interesting information. Today we talked about the intrinsic taboo and why societal norms are the way they are. Daniel is the lead man behind http://www.surthrival.com where he develops some of the highest quality unique products you'll find in the world today. We also discussed the myriad of ways that these societal norms not only influence our lives but adversely affect our health as well. He posed the question during the show which was, why is it looked down upon to eat your dog? If a family in your neighborhood growing up made it a practice of eating their dogs and cats for dinner, how would everybody else treat them? It's not like we were told to NOT eat our dogs. This kind of taboo in our culture typically permeates our lives through a subtle form of osmosis that's difficult to detect. It could be an off the cuff comment by a perceived person of authority when we were young or even a conversation by two people on a tv show. This kind of subtle indoctrination happens to all of us in our culture whether we're aware of it or not. In this episode Daniel Vitalis asks some questions that need to be answered. For example we did a show on urine therapy which is very much taboo in our society. But if urine contains incredible healing compounds in it, then that means we are preventing ourselves from ingesting nature's most powerful medicine simply because we failed to ask the kind of questions Daniel brought up during the show. We talked about agriculture and how civilization arose out of man's desire to stop being nomadic wild hunters to being drawn to agriculture and organic farming. At the end of the show we discussed all kinds of ways (20 actually) that you can begin to regain control of some wildness in our lives. Like Daniel said we can't go back. We can't go backwards but what we can do is take some principles of living in the wild, into our modern lives. It's very simple and easy to begin the quest of personal development in terms of developing daily disciplines that will bring us back to our wild nature. We hope you enjoyed this episode as much as we enjoyed being on the air with Daniel Vitalis. The was Shawn Stevenson's second time on the show and what a treat it was. For those that don't know Shawn Stevenson is the creator of The Fat Loss Code which we recommend to people all the time who are interested in learning how to lose weight the right way. I really like the work that he's doing and the heart with which he does it. This episode we talked about sleep and how to improve sleep naturally and cure insomnia. Here's some of the topics we discussed: What's the best sleep attire Time going to bed, does it matter? Polyphasic sleep patterns Temperature of the room The best time for melatonin production Low Blue Light glasses and if they work Angle of the head and bed Shift work & why it's so damaging EMF Radiation and why it's harmful for sleep Grounding technologies What foods to avoid before bed How much sleep do we need? Sleep disorders and sleeping problems are a huge problem in today's world. Millions of people today deal with issues like sleep apnea, snoring, waking u in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and can't go back to sleep. He wrote a book called Sleep Smarter: 21 Proven Tips to Sleep Your Way To a Better Body, Better Health and Bigger Success that you might want to take a look at. It has received some pretty amazing reviews from people like Daniel Vitalis, Pat Flynn and others. I have not read it yet but having spent some time with Shawn in person down in San Diego and speaking with him over email and during our two conversations on this show, I'm pretty darn confident he's going to deliver some amazing information. I have the book on my Kindle and am going to read it as soon as I get a chance. We talked a lot about many different issues like what to do about your sleep patterns if you're a shift worker. We talked about how EMF damages your ability to have a deep restful sleep with lots of REM. We talked about why it's more important to focus on when you sleep vs how much sleep you get. We discussed the low blue light glasses I wear to help reduce the amount of blue light that gets emitted from computer screens, cell phones and iPad type devices. You can also get them from Amazon as well. After we spoke with Dr. Richard Hansler As an anecdotal story I wear them every night for several hours and I seem to sleep really well as a result. I'm a big fan of them. We don't produce as much melatonin when the spectrum of blue light enters our eyes for some reason. We also discussed the type of clothing we should wear when we go to bed. Did you know that women who wear bras (not the ones from Ohganix) when they're sleeping significantly increase their risk of breast cancer? It's pretty amazing that bras are so harmful to our health and we don't even know it. We also talked about polyphasic sleep cycles and why it's probably not that healthy for you. Today's Flash Back Friday comes from June 2012. Human domestication from a less natural diet and lifestyle has slowly but surely led to degeneration of our species. Jason Hartman is joined by Daniel Vitalis, health and nutrition specialist, for a discussion of getting back to the “wild,” understanding the effect of our processed and hybrid foods, and learning how wild plants are medicinal and healthier for a long and healthy life. Daniel explains that the domestic foods have been designed to be more palatable, while wild foods tend to be bitter. He gives a history lesson on bananas, which were originally full of seeds, less fleshy, and very small, needing to be cooked to be eaten. The yellow banana that we consume today came about in the 1800's. As an illustrative example of mutated domestication, he points out that all of the dogs we have today came from the gray wolf, which is the same mutation process that has happened with food, called GMOs. Daniel encourages travel and acclimating to other temperatures, foods and water to make the body stronger. This influence on your body through environment is called epigenetics, making body changes at the genetic level. Daniel explains that people think degenerative diseases are happening because we're living longer today, but this is a misnomer. Our bodies began premature degeneration around 10,000 years ago when farming began. This is when arthritis and cavities first began to appear. Indigenous people and wild animals do not suffer the same degenerative processes as domesticated people and animals and this is due to the difference in diet and how they live with the environment. Compact cities and urban communities have been a feeding ground for disease, and the main cure for such diseases as polio were from the introduction of plumbing more than from vaccines. Daniel emphasizes that the interaction with natural soil and landscapes provides immunity and a strong sense of wellbeing, reducing the need for manmade medicines. Daniel Vitalis is a Leading Health, Nutrition, and Personal Development Strategist as well as a Nature Based Philosopher. He teaches that our Invincible Health is a product of living in alignment with our biological design and our role in the ecosystem. The Fat-Burning Man Show by Abel James: The Future of Health & Performance
Dr. Bill Pawluk is definitely NOT one of those “overnight experts.” Far from it. He's got 25 years of experience in acupuncture, homeopathy, hypnosis and bodywork. In this week's episode, he talks about how the electric vibrations all around us affect our bodies and brains…and how we can use electromagnetic therapy for healing. You may have seen Dr. Pawluk on the Dr. Oz show, or perhaps heard him on the radio. He's an international expert in the use of electromagnetic fields for health and healing and a board certified family physician practicing holistic medicine in Baltimore. Bill and I have crossed paths several times over the last couple of years, but I'm super excited to actually have him sharing his wealth of knowledge about electromagnetism with us on the Fat-Burning Man Show. I think you're really going to dig it. We touch on a lot of great topics, including: Harnessing electricity for healing the body and mind. Why doctors rarely talk about health. How personal electromagnetic field systems balance your brain. Why nerds make the best doctors. Improving athletic performance with electromagnetic field therapy. How electromagnetism reduces inflammation. If you've ever felt drained after spending a ton of time on your computer… and then rejuvenated when you lay on the grass in your yard or dig your feet into the sand at the beach, you're experiencing the incredible effects of electromagnetism. It's really incredible. HERE'S THE SHOW IN WRITING! What is the concept of electricity as it relates to the human body? Electricity is something we use all the time in our day-to-day lives—to power our lights and gadgets, to operate our cars and cook our meals. But how it works within our own bodies is often a mystery. Here's the basic outline: Your tissues are made of molecules—the building block of chemistry. Every atom within every molecule is an electromagnet—this is physics. The laws of physics govern everything, including the atoms that comprise the molecules which comprise the tissues of your body. By manipulating those atomic electromagnets, you can manipulate your body into wellness. The practice of electromagnetic therapy has been around for a long time, but people are just now “getting it” in the mainstream population. We are realizing that health is not about the practice of medicine or going to a doctor. Doctors rarely give advice about health. The model of “disease and cure” is so ingrained in the western medical practice that rarely does a doctor even know a chiropractor or an acupuncturist, let alone an herbalist or energy healer. They're in the business of eradicating disease after it happens. The electromagnetic pulses in the body control the body's chemistry. If your body were compared to a construction site, you'd have the bricks and mortar, the workers, and the tools. Electromagnetic fields are the power source for the tools! Electromagnetic charges wake up your cells. You perform better and have more energy. As we age, we need more energy to perform the same tasks, so recharges become even more important. Abel: I'm a really light sleeper. I used to wake up at bizarre times through the night, and sleep is so important and necessary. I tried herbs, drugs, and intervention. Nothing worked. Then I realized that there was electricity all around me. I got into grounding, and then Earth Pulse. It hacks the electromagnetic field to induce sleep—and it worked! Pulse magnetic fields cause resonant effects in the body. For example, when you hit a glass of water with a fork, you can see the waves in the water. Or when you sit too close to a loud speaker, you can feel your body vibrate. The Earth Solar Pulse sends a vibration at a specific frequency into the brain and body to slow the mind down. When you are anxious or hyperalert, your brain is vibrating at a very high frequency—even up to 50 Hz. If you're hitting the pillow at 40 Hz, you're not going to be able to fall asleep very easily. You need to slow down to about 13 Hz or lower. Placing a magnetic system under your pillow lowers your brain frequency so that you can fall asleep easier. With some of the systems I've tested, my frequency is reset so low that I fall asleep while reading. These systems are great for people who aren't ready to meditate. It's like instant meditation! A room full of grandfather clocks with their pendulums all swinging at different intervals will eventually shift so that they're all swinging in unison. Our brain cells are electrical, and like the grandfather clock pendulums, will begin to resonate to the vibrations around them. The magnetic systems harness that tendency to help us reach the frequencies we desire for the intended outcome. The Schumann Resonance is an electromagnetic wave that exists between the Earth's crust and the edge of the ionosphere- about 55km up. It's not there all the time, but has to be excited by something like lightening. If there is a storm in Sri Lanka, it's going to affect your brain (in the U.S.) in a few seconds because those wavelengths are so long. *The earth's Schuman Resonance is generally steady at around 8 Hz. Your cell phones, computers, wifi, television and other gadgets put out their own pulse magnetic field. These frequencies can work to “charge you up.” Such frequencies as classical guitar or mellow music work to bring your frequency back down. The Harmony USB is geared to the Schumann Resonance. You simply plug the USB into your computer and it stimulates you at 7.83 cps. When your brain is set to this frequency, you experience enhanced performance and relaxation. It works to harmonize you against all of the external electromagnetic stimulation that's been jangling your nerves. PMF works on your body is basic ways- it transcends disease. Electromagnetic therapy is the complete opposite of modern medicine's “1,000 treatments for 1,000 diseases” approach. This therapy will drop the inflammation in your tissues down without using drugs. Doctors have to be re-educated, and that's challenging. Currently, medical instruction and protocols are managed by the institutions with money- Drug companies, research institutions, colleges. In order to be a good doctor, you have to be a nerd. You have to reach outside the house of medicine, you have to read and study and really be interested in learning about all of the alternatives.
