Dan Patrick joined The Texan's senior reporter Hayden Sparks to discuss the recent acquittal of Attorney General Ken Paxton.“There is some truth in this, that it was orchestrated from the beginning and that members were coerced to vote. That's true — in the House,” said Patrick. “Not in the Senate. It was the House.”Discussing his remarks at the end of the trial when he sharply criticized the way the House acted during the impeachment process, Patrick explained, “The reason I made my remarks on the dais before I adjourned was this: it needed to be in the historic record because 50 or 100 or 150 years from now, no legislator is going to come back and look at this interview or any other interview I've done or any TV interview that anyone's done.”“We weren't perfect, but I wanted history to reflect that this House under this speaker, under that investigative committee, they totally ignored past precedent, totally ignored due process, totally ignored fairness,” said Patrick.In addition to discussing the process of the impeachment trial, Patrick also weighed in on the political ramifications and how the trial might affect elections next year.

A day after Patrick announced the appointment, Marc Brown declined it, citing a campaign contribution he made to Paxton's GOP primary opponent in 2021.

WESLACO, RGV - State Sen. Eddie Lucio says he will be bringing Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath to the Rio Grande Valley.Speaking at a meeting of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council, Lucio said the visit would not be political in nature.Rather, it would include a town hall meeting in October that would focus on the increased funding state legislators approved for public education. Lucio also expressed support for a constitutional amendment that is on the November ballot. The amendment would allow the Texas Water Development Board to issue $200 million in bonds for water supply, sewer service, and drainage projects in areas defined as economically distressed.

School Maintenance and Operation funds shall be allocated from the state’s general fund to Texas’ Independent School Districts via an inflation-adjusted, per-student-allocation. ” Religious Freedom & Privacy “Pass legislation prohibiting the violation of the rights and freedoms of individuals, organizations and businesses, to exercise their sincerely held religious beliefs by local ordinances or state laws; and pass legislation that protects the privacy and safety of women and children in multi-use facilities such as bathrooms, locker rooms and showers in all Texas schools and government buildings and oppose legislation that would undermine these privacy and safety protections.” https://www.texasgop.org/priorities/ A very weak attempt at Property Tax Reform is all that passed. So in reality not one of the Top 5 priorities passed and the Republicans held once again a majority in the House and the Senate.
