Mary Danielsen Well, we told you so: 2026 was coming. And we even counted it down on headline days. So while that’s not terribly profound, we all get a week or two to remember to number our days and God says that’s wisdom. While we’re thinking about it, we often resort to New Year’s resolutions to ease the pain of past fails. It might be related to our behaviour, our self-discipline or lack thereof, but we all understand starting fresh, turning a page. But outside of Christ, is wholesale change really just a fantasy? By February, how’s it going? If the answer is “not so well”, we have a far better way: Christian maturity. Growing up in all things unto Christ our Head. The template for all this is the church, but how is THAT going? Not so well. Nevertheless, Christ is the Head, our ever-living Head who sanctifies us by His blood, by His grace. Today we look at some perspectives on how the culture at large has returned to using pacifiers like media and self-love to go the other direction, also known as the Eternal Adolescence of the American Mind. We need grown ups in the culture, and in the church particularly. How does one influence the other? A long look at the 20th century youth cult and what we need to do to grow up. Mary Danielsen Mary takes some time today to focus on the end game, geopolitically – and at what point the world runs out of real estate to do a global build-out designed for the final rebellion against Jesus Christ at His coming. The image in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, the metal man depicting the significant world powers that will succeed each other from Babylon to Rome, is one of the greatest, most astonishing prophecies the world has ever been privy to. The end of the matter tells us that in the days of those Roman Empire kings, the toes of the image, the revived Roman Empire – God will set up His everlasting kingdom. As joyous as that is to think about, the process involves going from Satan’s kingdom of man that has ruled for millennia, to the righteous Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is often depicted as the birth process, birth pangs – that increase in frequency and intensity. It also can be summed up this way: “expect turbulence”, and you frequent flyers will understand that. We look at how Satan even got this world as a prize, how he fell, why he was able to offer it to Jesus – and maybe why he has saved his most awful bag of tricks for this late hour. We also look at the importance of Genesis in interpreting Revelation. Most churches don’t pay any heed to their connection, but it is incredible to see all the events that begin in Genesis having their fulfillment in Revelation. As we are on the verge of a new year, let’s be found watching and waiting, and building up our knowledge and understanding of why things are the way they are. When the Danielsens bought their starter home, it was old and leaning but still had value. When they moved out, it was older and leaned further, but worth a significant amount more. Why is this? Value, investments, worth - the world will tell us just what we can get for pretty much anything. Antiques Roadshow is a very popular program. Since we can't take it with us, we might as well buy and sell and get through the economic murk. But what really has untold eternal value - the gospel - is what is hidden deep in these old earthen vessels. And we need to rightly handle it, in honor of those who gave their lives for it, so WE could hear it and pass it along, like a human chain through the ages. How can we get that out of our lives? Is it possible? Oh yes.  Talking hope in the midst of whatever, we all need that. As we bid farewell to the first half of 2025 and welcome the carefree days of Summer, Mary takes a look at stars, time, and how crucial it is to understand the witness of the heavens. Even on a foundational level, the heavens are a message system that show forth God's glory. Many of us might look up night after night and enjoy the beauty on these warm evenings, but do we really understand that it is glory we are beholding? How does that provide the foundation for our faith, and where does the concept of time enter in? Eternity past, the present, the future, eternity future - are these just something to dwell in after we make our entrance into this life, or are they so much more? Even the very spot we put our feet every day outdoors is on something that was made out of nothing. Oh, and "He made the stars also." If we really want to peel back the complexities of this stifling world system, and get down to basics, the primer that is the heavens is that great leveler - that thing that helps us begin to keep the main thing the main thing, and look forward to dwelling forever with the One Who made it all - and has put eternity in our hearts. "I loved it as a child" does not serve the believer in Christ who must learn that having a Christian worldview requires filtering every decision through the lens of Scripture. Like all matters of conscience, there are no laws - but there certainly should be biblical sense and sensibilities involved.
