You may not think of people at work as your community, but they are. And when you build strong relationships with your community, you get more done. It's more creative. It's more resourceful. The results are just better. That's one of the things we're talking about today with the help of our special guest, Senior Director of Brand & Digital Marketing at Collibra, Victoria Bowman.Together, we take marketing lessons from Abbott Elementary, including partnering up with your coworkers, showing that you understand your audience, and testing your ideas before investing in them.About our guest, Victoria BowmanVictoria Bowman is an accomplished marketing leader with extensive experience building brands and accelerating growth in fast-paced award-winning companies, including Collibra, MITRE and Dell Technologies. She is Senior Director of Brand and Digital Marketing at Collibra, the leading data intelligence platform. Her team includes Brand and Creative, Digital & Websites, Social Media, Community and Marketing Operations. Victoria fosters a strong culture of trust and collaboration on her team, empowering impactful cross-functional work on campaigns, events, website optimization, thought leadership programs and evolution of the brand. Collibra was recently recognized with wins in multiple categories from both the MarCom Awards and Communicator Awards. At MITRE, a nonprofit which performs R&D on behalf of the federal government as well as industry partners, Victoria helped Strategic Communications navigate proper brand marketing in an organization dating back to 1958. Her primary focus was on relaunching mitre.org with a design system refresh and 90 net-new pages of concise content, as well as developing the employer brand and deploying high-impact campaigns to talent acquisition targets. As Director of Brand Marketing at Dell Boomi, a SaaS company within Dell Technologies, Victoria built and led large cross-functional teams of creatives and developers, relaunched the corporate website twice during her tenure, rebranded the company, and created infrastructure and improved processes that helped Dell Boomi to scale. These strategies enabled growth initiatives and lead-generating campaigns that resulted in direct, measurable business impact.Prior to working in tech / SaaS, Victoria held leadership roles in consumer packaged goods and online retail organizations. In those positions, she created innovative visual communications and marketing campaign strategies that effectively engaged B2B/B2C channels, planned and executed large events, expanded omnichannel brand awareness, and directly increased sales and customer retention. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Abbott Elementary:Partner up. Don't feel like you have to operate alone. Working collaboratively with others results in a more thoughtful, creative, and unique outcome. Victoria says, “Relationships are crucial to your success. All of the characters on Abbott Elementary really rely on each other. And they've built trust by learning across generations and different backgrounds. And I think that culture of trust really is what fosters great partnership and creativity and innovation. Fostering connections and gaining that shared understanding and having mutual support is important, and the element of discovery that comes from all of those shared experiences.”Show that you understand your audience. Appeal to their values, concerns, frustrations and priorities. That's when content “clicks” for them and you create an emotional bond. Victoria says, “Show that you understand and speak to and meet the needs of your audience. Exemplify that in your marketing, that you understand their problems, you understand their needs, that you are listening, that you're accessible.”Test. Try out new marketing strategies before really investing in them. Victoria says, “Be entrepreneurial. Try out new things. Experiment and test and improve the benefit before you sink budget and resources into something. That's how new activities can turn into successful programs. Never lose that sense of curiosity and that entrepreneurial approach.”Quotes*”To be successful at content marketing, you cannot work in silos. It takes a village to do B2B marketing well, and that means keeping the communication flowing and building trust and having that open collaboration.”*”Bring your whole self to work; your creativity, your resilience and humor. You really, as a leader, should set an example of how to be open and curious and flexible and authentic because it is contagious and it will help you to build an amazing culture on your team.”*”Experiment often. Learn from what works and what doesn't work and keep iterating. Model for people what it looks like to learn from failures and keep moving forward with optimism and lessons learned. So make sure you celebrate the wins that you recognize the great work and you build on it. As agencies continue to embrace cloud solutions, the need to integrate systems has taken on new importance. At the same time, finding the right talent to help with cloud integration remains a challenge. That's where a low-code, no-code integration platform-as-a-service model is becoming increasingly beneficial for agencies, says Public Sector Chief Technology Officer Joseph Flynn at Dell Boomi. “Part of what makes [cloud integration] difficult is the explosive growth in [agencies'] applications and data. It challenges not only technical decision-making, but also business decisions, budgets and contracts,” says Flynn. This podcast is sponsored by Boomi. Het antwoord ligt in integratie of iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service). Via integratie kunnen applicaties op de achtergrond data uitwisselen en beter functioneren. Hiervoor zijn verschillende oplossingen en methoden beschikbaar. Die we bespreken in deze podcast. Ashleigh and Kasey talk to Raul Gutierrez, Inside Sales Account Manager at Dell Boomi, about improving the interview process, finding the right environment, and his future.SHOW NOTESHis Sales Journey / 00:00:58-Raul's sales journey began in college when he co-founded a small cyber-security software solution with friends, and they tasked him with pitching to investors.-Through doing this, he found out he could be successful in career technology sales and started at New Relic as an SDR before moving to another big tech company and eventually realizing he enjoys being at startups.DEI Dialogue / 00:05:19-Raul stresses that people shouldn't be afraid to have these hard conversations. When we speak openly and respectfully about what makes us uncomfortable or nervous, it not only makes it easier to discuss but brings us together.Company Culture and Interviewing / 00:09:23-Almost all companies, small or large, will sell you a vision during the interview process that seldom is accurate, and you won't know what it's actually like until starting.-Raul would rather companies be honest from the beginning about the shortcomings of their company and the ugly parts of the job at hand. It would make it easier in the long run for both parties to decide if they're the right fit for each other.Gauging the Work Environment / 00:13:53-Ask about the challenges this role will face and what skills or characteristics are necessary to succeed in the position.-It's also okay to reach out and ask someone in the company that's not part of the interview process questions about the culture. The Right Environment / 00:23:21-It's imperative to be introspective and understand what the situation is, how you're interpreting it, and how it's making you feel.-Making a list of the pros and cons of your previous job as well as the job you want can be helpful.-Remember that you have choices. Your decisions and goals are what form your obligations. You can always make a change if you're not happy. His Future / 00:30:48-He has two overarching goals. The first is to share the knowledge he gains to help others achieve. The other is to seek fulfillment in himself through setting up weekly professional and personal goals. His Best Advice / 00:33:18-Just start. It can be poor quality or half-assed; it doesn't matter. Julie Guinn combines design, research, strategy, and systems thinking to help teams build innovation capabilities, solve complex business challenges and deliver delightful, intuitive product experiences. We discuss systems awareness, leading design work inside complex systems, and ways to pull system awareness and system design into your innovation efforts. Show host: Dawan Stanford. Show Summary Julie defines the differences between systems and complex adaptive systems, and how the many elements that are highly interconnected in complex adaptive systems create complexity and how that impacts the way you approach the design process. She talks about her first foray into designing for healthcare, and how she quickly discovered that none of the typical tools in a design thinker’s toolkit were working. Her discovering Designing for Care by Peter Jones started her on the path of learning about systems and system-centered design, which led to a whole new skillset and toolbox of methods specifically geared towards designing systems and designing inside systems. She discusses the unique challenges of designing for systems and how multiple phases and iterations are key when implementing change in complex adaptive systems. She also talks about some clients that were more challenging when it came to design implementation, and how some companies weren’t ready for design, and what she did to overcome these challenges. Julie talks about how to be intentional when building a plan for convening and facilitating systems design experiences, and why you should think differently when you plan projects, especially when considering how much time each step will take. Listen in to learn: Differences between systems and complex adaptive systems Critical parts of complex adaptive systems and the elements they encompass Mapping systems and how you can use mapping systems in design Types of considerations to think about when designing for healthcare systems When you need a system-centered practice as opposed to a design-centered practice Ways to address obstacles in client work Timescale and system change with placing new interventions in place Why you should break optimized systems around your target outcomes What can you do if you find yourself in a much more complicated system than you anticipated? According to a Gartner Report, Dell Boomi leads the way as an innovative strategic partner for its clients in the Enterprise iPaaS category, with over 8,000 customers and a churn rate below 3%. That’s the biggest compliment you can get, especially if you’re a company with a large service component. What role did marketing play in developing these relationships and garnering this reputation? Drew sits down on this week’s episode with Mandy Dhaliwal, Dell Boomi’s CMO and certified sommelier, to discuss how she kept Boomi’s marketing initiatives grounded in company strategy in order to modernize engagement across the board. When she joined in 2018, Mandy hit the ground running: she developed a company purpose within a six-week period (during a holiday, no less!), presented the positioning at the annual sales kickoff, and oversaw a complete rebrand with a clearer customer focus than ever before. This week’s Renegade Thinkers Unite is packed with remarkable insights. Check it out!

Content marketing is the best way to attract eyeballs of the global digital population of just over 4 billion. But while 91% of the B2B marketers use content marketing to reach their audience, a majority of them do not know how to produce engaging content, and they admit it. This results in content cacophony – a deafening noise of random words thrown together that neither create a connection nor evoke emotion. So, what is the actual science behind effectively cutting through this noise and creating truly engaging content? In the first episode of this Special Edition, we are joined by Tania Mushtaq, Head of Marketing, Asia Pacific and Japan at Dell Boomi as she discusses The Seven Cs of Smart Content You Can’t Ignore. Check out the full discussion here.
We take a 50-minute look into the life of Div Manickam and talk about all things B2B, no-meeting-Wednesdays, product portfolios, and elevating the role of product marketing on an industry-wide scale. --- "9 out of 10 times I would have people come to us, primarily the product team, and say "hey, here's the roadmap presentation, pretty it up." Or I would have sales say "okay, I'll put these slides together, can you pretty them up?" Like, yes, I can, but I can also help you shape the message so it does a better job."
Today, Dell Boomi is one of the leading players in the Australian integration market. How did Dell Boomi manage to move from newcomer to front-runner? Australian government departments and the private sector can use data to build trust and loyalty at a time when customers/consumers are more vocal and powerful than ever before, with the ability to cause havoc with a single tweet from a bad experience. We have seen many examples of how organisations have mismanaged customer data. What can organisations do to turn this around and harness data in a constructive way to build trusted and loyal relationships with customers? Cities around the world, including here in Australia, are racing to declare themselves “smart” to become more efficient, safe and sustainable. What are the big data challenges to overcome in order to realise the ambitions for Smart Cities? Hosted by Steve Nuttall, Head of CX Research at Fifth Quadrant.
