“For me, the real wealth in starting a business lies in time flexibility and autonomy,” shares May Yeo Silvers. In this episode, she delves into how true wealth encompasses more than just financial success; it includes personal freedom and time flexibility. She recounts her journey, particularly a significant year when her business flourished financially but at the expense of her well-being, prompting her to reassess her priorities. May highlights how many entrepreneurs lose sight of their initial goals of financial and time freedom in their pursuit of profit. Through her experiences, she underscores the importance of balancing financial goals with personal well-being. She advises entrepreneurs to intentionally define their version of real wealth and build their businesses accordingly. The episode also underscores that real wealth is subjective and varies for each individual. May shares her sister's decision to choose a less stressful job for better work-life balance as an example that wealth isn't always tied to high financial income. She encourages entrepreneurs to regularly evaluate and adjust their business strategies to align with their personal values and goals, emphasizing that true success in entrepreneurship is about creating a fulfilling and balanced life. Quotes • “To last in the business and maintain your well-being, you need to build your business with a holistic intention. This means considering how to live your life, leave a legacy, and achieve financial freedom and stability all at the same time.” (06:27 | May Yeo Silvers) • “Financial freedom may look very different for every person.” (07:22 | May Yeo Silvers) • “When you build your business with intention, you constantly have conversations with yourself. What is the real intention here? How can I build my business in a way that allows me to gain a certain level of wealth and a certain level of financial, time, and choice freedom? Only you will have the answer to these questions. You, and only you, will know the financial numbers that matter to you, how much time you need, and what you want to do with the time you've gained. This is how you build the real wealth that is meaningful to you, not what social media dictates.” (34:09 | May Yeo Silvers) • “If you don't build your business with intention, you risk burning out and losing the very wealth you've achieved. Sacrificing time and choice freedom in the pursuit of financial gain is not sustainable. Real wealth encompasses financial success as well as the freedom to enjoy your time and make choices that align with your values and desires.” (35:06 | May Yeo Silvers) Links If you are thinking of starting an event planning business and you want to build your business with INTENTION like how I explained in this podcast episode, the Mindset and Productivity module inside our 24 courses Business Kickstart Bundle will help guide you on how to manage your time to have a work life balance, one of the REAL wealth of owning a business. “Leave it on the floor. No regrets.” Continuing with Olympic month, host John Corella welcomes Kristie Phillips, 1988 Olympic team member, former national champion, winner of the American Cup to the Dance Dad podcast—and his inner child is screaming. For all of her career achievements thus far, Kristie exemplifies that unlimited opportunities lay ahead—opportunities to learn new things, embrace new experiences and, in turn, provide new opportunities for other people. Today she discusses how she helped to change the sport of gymnastics as an athlete, and later as an athlete representative and an elite judge. As much as Kristie has won, she also knows what it means to fail—and to be made to feel insignificant as a result. Failure is part of the process and we must know how to deal with it, while remembering that we are enough just as we are. Citing Simone Biles as an example, Kristie and John discuss the changing attitudes toward the health and well-being of athletes in competition, and the importance of inclusivity at all levels, and why gymnastics is the best preparation for life. Join today's discussion to hear Kristie talk about her relationship to legendary gymnast coaching duo the Karolyis, appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated making a gymnastics comeback ‘late in life,' and taking up ballroom dancing for the first time. Quotes “To me it's kind of the mother of all sports. It embodies grace, power, discipline, perseverance, self-motivation. It's just every life lesson that you're going to need in your life, you will experience in the sport of gymnastics at a high level of competition.” (13:23 | Kristie Phillips) “Everybody's enough. You're born enough. And I think as society, we're so judgmental, and we're so quick to tear someone down and I wish we could get back into building people up.” (16:15 | Kristie Phillips) “I just enjoyed being out there and performing and making people happy and touching lives. Inspiring people. That's what I love to do…I love providing for people opportunities—probably my kids would say I like to do that too much—but I just truly enjoy giving to other people and helping them on their journey.” (34:34 | Kristie Phillips) “I see the big picture now. I think I've kind of lived my life with blinders on and kept doing what's next—what's next—what's next and so I'm starting to really enjoy the process and really starting to appreciate the opportunities that life has given me.” (1:01:32 | Kristie Phillips) “Once you're there, leave it all on the floor. Don't doubt yourself. Don't hold back. Don't try to save it. Go for it. Go big or go home. And enjoy giving it your all. If you win, you win; if you don't, you don't, but there will be no regrets. Leave it on the floor. Put it all out there and enjoy every minute of it.” (1:03:47 | Kristie Phillips) Links Connect with Kristie Phillips: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kristie_phillips_kpac/ Website: www.kpacgym.com Dance Dad with John Corella on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dancedadwithjohncorella/ John on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/john_corella/ Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

You may not think of people at work as your community, but they are. And when you build strong relationships with your community, you get more done. It's more creative. It's more resourceful. The results are just better. That's one of the things we're talking about today with the help of our special guest, Senior Director of Brand & Digital Marketing at Collibra, Victoria Bowman.Together, we take marketing lessons from Abbott Elementary, including partnering up with your coworkers, showing that you understand your audience, and testing your ideas before investing in them.About our guest, Victoria BowmanVictoria Bowman is an accomplished marketing leader with extensive experience building brands and accelerating growth in fast-paced award-winning companies, including Collibra, MITRE and Dell Technologies. She is Senior Director of Brand and Digital Marketing at Collibra, the leading data intelligence platform. Her team includes Brand and Creative, Digital & Websites, Social Media, Community and Marketing Operations. Victoria fosters a strong culture of trust and collaboration on her team, empowering impactful cross-functional work on campaigns, events, website optimization, thought leadership programs and evolution of the brand. Collibra was recently recognized with wins in multiple categories from both the MarCom Awards and Communicator Awards. At MITRE, a nonprofit which performs R&D on behalf of the federal government as well as industry partners, Victoria helped Strategic Communications navigate proper brand marketing in an organization dating back to 1958. Her primary focus was on relaunching mitre.org with a design system refresh and 90 net-new pages of concise content, as well as developing the employer brand and deploying high-impact campaigns to talent acquisition targets. As Director of Brand Marketing at Dell Boomi, a SaaS company within Dell Technologies, Victoria built and led large cross-functional teams of creatives and developers, relaunched the corporate website twice during her tenure, rebranded the company, and created infrastructure and improved processes that helped Dell Boomi to scale. These strategies enabled growth initiatives and lead-generating campaigns that resulted in direct, measurable business impact.Prior to working in tech / SaaS, Victoria held leadership roles in consumer packaged goods and online retail organizations. In those positions, she created innovative visual communications and marketing campaign strategies that effectively engaged B2B/B2C channels, planned and executed large events, expanded omnichannel brand awareness, and directly increased sales and customer retention. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Abbott Elementary:Partner up. Don't feel like you have to operate alone. Working collaboratively with others results in a more thoughtful, creative, and unique outcome. Victoria says, “Relationships are crucial to your success. All of the characters on Abbott Elementary really rely on each other. And they've built trust by learning across generations and different backgrounds. And I think that culture of trust really is what fosters great partnership and creativity and innovation. Fostering connections and gaining that shared understanding and having mutual support is important, and the element of discovery that comes from all of those shared experiences.”Show that you understand your audience. Appeal to their values, concerns, frustrations and priorities. That's when content “clicks” for them and you create an emotional bond. Victoria says, “Show that you understand and speak to and meet the needs of your audience. Exemplify that in your marketing, that you understand their problems, you understand their needs, that you are listening, that you're accessible.”Test. Try out new marketing strategies before really investing in them. Victoria says, “Be entrepreneurial. Try out new things. Experiment and test and improve the benefit before you sink budget and resources into something. That's how new activities can turn into successful programs. Never lose that sense of curiosity and that entrepreneurial approach.”Quotes*”To be successful at content marketing, you cannot work in silos. It takes a village to do B2B marketing well, and that means keeping the communication flowing and building trust and having that open collaboration.”*”Bring your whole self to work; your creativity, your resilience and humor. You really, as a leader, should set an example of how to be open and curious and flexible and authentic because it is contagious and it will help you to build an amazing culture on your team.”*”Experiment often. Learn from what works and what doesn't work and keep iterating. Model for people what it looks like to learn from failures and keep moving forward with optimism and lessons learned. So make sure you celebrate the wins that you recognize the great work and you build on it. What does the pursuit of Black sovereignty look like through the lens of history and community activism? Calvin sits down with Dr. Timothy Nelson about this concept. Dr. Nelson shares his journey from a tough upbringing in Compton to being inspired by Malcolm X's autobiography, leading him to academia where he studied Blackdom—an early 20th-century Black community that formed its own government and established a business in oil. He illustrates how Blackdom exemplifies Black sovereignty through municipal governance and economic independence. The discussion covers the challenges of achieving true community sovereignty. Dr. Nelson highlights the essential role of education and collective understanding in advancing Black communities' autonomy. Later in the episode, community activist Curtis Pitts brings a practical perspective on activism. With decades of experience, Pitts explores how reclaiming and effectively utilizing community resources are crucial for development and local control. This episode connects historical examples and contemporary challenges faced by Black communities striving for self-determination and economic independence, offering insights into the past and guidance for today's efforts in community sovereignty and empowerment. Quotes “To be Black is to be political.” (06:51 | Dr. Timothy E. Nelson) “If I'm talking to you and I'm telling you about Black people, it's different than when I'm telling my dissertation chair about Black people. Because now, I'm trying to prove that Black people are human to my dissertation chair, who is white.” (15:43 | Dr. Timothy E. Nelson) “Sovereign is a state of mind. I heard that a sovereign requires agreement and understanding. I had to be sovereign. You have to invest. And once you get to the point where you have a sovereign mind, then you have to find a way to protect that sovereign mind. And remember that you still live in a place that is threatened by your sovereignty.” (22:49 | Calvin) “People don't realize that black folks going to the projects was a forced migration. It was not a voluntary thing. They forced us into the project, they broke up our families, they sent us in there, and we developed this dependent mentality that was never us. We have to go back from being at the children's table at the picnic and force our way back to the adults table. And the way we do that is we have to be able to say, ‘What we brought to the table allows us to eat the good food and the good news.'” (38:28 | Curtis Pitts) “We have to create sovereignty by creating a hub of self-help and self-work. That does not mean we have to exclude anyone. Racism and Black nationalism is not a place where we have to use that as a means and a medium to destroy and move others by taking pride in our history and culture… It took them 70 years to separate us from our economics, our culture, our music, our faith, and our families, because they know with our churches and our families, they could never defeat us. We got married in slavery, even when they didn't know it.” (49:12 | Curtis Pitts) Links Dr. Timothy E. Today we're going to try and help you understand one of the most vexing components of the climate challenge — namely, the overlapping, interlinking, and contradictory land titles that determine control of so many tropical forests — in this case, the Amazon, the lungs of the planet. With no clarity over control and no realistic way of enforcing it, there's no way to sustainably manage and protect this massive bulwark against climate change. Today's episode centers around a few individuals, most notably a Japan-born physician named Jonas Morioka, who migrated to Brazil in the 1980s, purchased timberland in the 1990s, pivoted to conservation in the 2000s, and is now embroiled in a title fight over a transaction that may or may not have taken place a century ago. His story is far from unique, and it shows how easy it is to chop the forest, how difficult it is to save it, and how tenure disputes make it even more difficult to leverage carbon finance for the common good. My guests are Vinny Maffei and Olivier LeJune of Quantum Commodity Intelligence. We collaborated in a recent story they ran called “How a decree created a REDD old mess in Brazil, and the new effort to fix it,” which you can read here: https://www.qcintel.com/carbon/article/long-read-how-a-decree-created-a-redd-old-mess-in-brazil-and-the-new-effort-to-fix-it-23409.html Quotes "To meet the climate challenge, we must save the Amazon." - 00:02:38-00:02:49 "Decades of research have shown that you reduce deforestation in part by reducing poverty, and you reduce poverty in part by giving people an incentive to manage land sustainably." - 00:04:23-00:04:34 "Brazil is very famous for having a lot of large properties owned by just a few people. It's a very unequal country." - 00:19:33-00:19:44 "Forest conservation starts with the people in and around the forest." - 00:28:16-00:28:26 "Deforestation isn't a puzzle book with answers in the back. It's a wicked problem with no simple solution." - 00:30:24-00:30:36 "There are groups out there that are devoted to going in and finding things wrong." - 00:45:01-00:45:12 "There's a lot of interest around REDD+, amongst the media and other actors." - 00:46:39-00:46:49 Timestamps 00:00:00 - Introduction to the Climate Challenge 00:05:30 - Introduction of Michael Greene and Initial Impressions 00:10:12 - Overview of Land Titles in Para, Brazil 00:14:06 - Discussion on Pará State and Porto Region 00:18:29 - Jonas Morioka's Land Purchases and Legal Issues 00:21:48 - Land Ownership and Settlements 00:25:52 - Legal Disputes and Involvement of Public Defender 00:30:03 - Discussion on Indigenous and Environmental Groups 00:32:27 - Arguments Regarding Land Rights and Conservation Efforts 00:37:00 - Negotiations with ITERPA and School Construction 00:41:21 - Financial Aspects and Legal Agreements 00:43:10 - Status of School Construction and Legal Challenges

313 Rediscovering Yourself Change is a fundamental law of nature, nothing stays the same forever. This is especially true when it comes to people, we are never the same even from moment to moment, we are allowed and expected to change, to grow, to become a version of ourselves that we can be proud of. In this episode Sarah Elkins and Michelle Cooper discuss growth, change, and the pains that come with it. Michelle brings warmth, empathy, and a depth of emotion that will make you laugh, maybe cry, but certainly bring you some hope and determination for the new year. Highlights Sometimes all you need to do is learn the rules because you already have the skills. Acknowledging the other people who help shape your story. Sometimes finding your voice and your purpose can cause friction in your life, but it is your responsibility to work together and remedy the strife. Quotes “To me whether it's a partner or a friend or a family member, it doesn't really matter. If they can't support something that's really important to you then they shouldn't be in your energy.” “You've got to have some data, you've got to go with your gut, and you have to come from an empowered place, not a victim, not a limited mindset, not survival. So how do we change that?” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, What about this conversation really resonated with you? Was it this idea of finding community somehow in your late thirties? Was it about knowing that sometimes you need to have those hard conversations to give your partner a chance to change and to grow with you rather than leaving them behind? What will you do in 2024 cause it's early still, to make a decision about something that maybe you committed to without fully being committed to it but you're afraid to let it go? And, as always, thank you for listening. About Michelle Michelle Cooper is a Business Mentor, Author, Podcast Host, and International Speaker. About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. Web Description: For the most part, we do not like being confronted about things we lack or need to work on in our lives. But a confrontation can be helpful. After seeing Christ transformed, Peter, James, and John were confronted by their own inability to heal someone. And the truth is that we are confronted daily by our inability to do the works that Christ said we are to do. We can choose to explain that away, or we can let it show us what we need to seek Him for and press into it. Show Notes: Peter, James, and John were with Yeshua (Jesus) on the mountain when He was transfigured or, in another sense, transmuted into the form He had with the Father before He took on human form. The three disciples witnessed this, just as Christ had told them that they would see Him coming in His Kingdom. When these disciples came down from the mountain, they were faced with a sharp contrast between this revelation of the Kingdom and the application of it in the natural realm. The disciples were unable to heal as Christ expected them to. This was a tremendous comparison that is very applicable to us today. The disciples saw the absolute difference between the level they were on and the level Christ was on in His relationship with the Father. And we live daily with this same comparison. We are to have a relationship with Christ and the Father in the Spirit. Yet we tend to think that the way we function in the natural realm is normal, whereas the spirit realm is something we cannot explain or relate to or participate in. In contrast, the Scriptures tell us that we are born again of the Spirit to walk and function in the spirit realm. We need an honest comparison rather than making excuses or trying to explain away what we read in the Word. Let us examine ourselves and ask: What are we not moving in that we as believers should be able to move in? We have been baptized into the same Spirit that empowered the apostles to heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons. And it is good to take a moment to evaluate where we are by comparison. Certainly, there are things that we already have. But there are still things we need to seek the Lord about rather than feeling like everything is fine the way it is. Key Verses: • Matthew 16:28. “Some … will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His Kingdom.” • Matthew 17:1–8. “He was transfigured before them.” • Exodus 33:9–11. “The LORD used to speak to Moses face to face.” • Exodus 34:30–35. “The skin of Moses' face shone. So Moses would replace the veil over his face.” • 2 Corinthians 3:18. “We all, with unveiled face … are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.” • Matthew 17:9–20. “I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.” • John 3:3. “Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” • Acts 17:28. “In Him we live and move and exist.” • 1 John 4:17. “As He is, so also are we in this world.” • Philippians 3:10. “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection.” Quotes: • “To me, my walk with God is not fine the way it is. I need to grow into the things that God has for me. I need an experience like this transmutation that comes into a higher form, a higher element of what God really has available for us.” • “I'm not saying you're going to walk around in some strange form. You're going to look maybe just like you are right now, but you are going to be in a higher form, moving in elements of God's creation as Christ did.” • “Don't try to get rid of the littleness of faith. Try to get a belief in the absolute power of the resurrection of Christ that dwells in us.” Takeaways: 1. Yeshua told the disciples that some of them would not see death until they saw Him coming in His Kingdom. Then three of them saw Christ transmuted into a higher form in an experience known as the Transformation. This revealing of Christ in the form He had before coming out of heaven into earth is what He related to the Kingdom. 2. Immediately after this experience of Christ's Kingdom, the three disciples who witnessed it were confronted on the natural level by a healing that the disciples were incapable of doing. This was a moment of comparison that we should see as being important for us. It is a good thing for us to evaluate ourselves. We need to evaluate where we are in our walk with the Lord, especially in our ability to live and move in the realm of spirit. 3. The Scriptures tell us we are to walk in the Spirit and by the Spirit and dwell in the Spirit in Him. It is not that we only have a little bit of faith in that. It is that we have absolute belief against it. We believe in the natural world and our physical humanity to such an extent that it is impossible for us to believe in our ability to live in the spirit realm. But we were baptized into His death and raised into His life, and that life dwells in us now. We need to learn to walk in that and live there. That is our reality.
In this week's episode, Chief Victory Officer, Eric Guy, is once again joined by Alex Pursglove, Business and Transformation Coach. They discuss how to deepen your relationships by cultivating trust and acceptance of others.Takeaways:- Understanding vulnerability requires discerning what it is not.- Nourish the growth of your relationship by articulating your needs while graciously making room for your partner's desires.- The catalyst for change doesn't always require detailed descriptions; often, embodying the change itself is the most potent force.- Experiencing acceptance in our most vulnerable state from someone we love stands as one of life's most beautiful and fulfilling encounters.- Break free from people-pleasing by transforming your relationship with yourself. Authentic self-honesty paves the way for openness with those closest to you.- Gauge your partner's readiness by checking their capacity to engage with your thoughts: “On a scale of 1 to 10, how open are you to discussing this right now?”- Foster honesty and a non-judgmental atmosphere in your relationship by incorporating the phrase: “My preference is that we _______, and I'm open to your genuine feelings about this.”- Encouraging openness about desires invites a judgment-free space for genuine honesty.- Shift from personalizing your feelings to framing them as the narrative you're experiencing when communicating about emotions.Quotes:- “To trust another person, you need to start with trusting yourself.”- “Address the problem as US against the issue, instead of YOU being the issue.”- “When you remove judgement, your left with acceptance.”MAKE THIS YOUR BEST DAY YET!

I have always done checks and balances, checks with what we were supposed to collect, what was being deposited, and that sort of thing. I had a patient that came to me and said she thought somebody was stealing from me — and it was very cut and dry. It wasn't like she could think it. It was, from what she presented, we knew. And it was, I think, more surprising because I and my whole team would have never thought this one person would have ever done it.” (3:22—4:04)“You still think, ‘Okay, how did this happen? Has it happened before?' But you're also like, ‘Well, certainly, there has to be something in [the embezzler's] life that made her do this for just a moment. There's just a moment that she's doing this. This was something that just happened. Maybe she owed some money. I don't know.' So, I automatically go into this compassionate, like, ‘There had to have been something that happened that made her do this. This couldn't be a long-term thing because we certainly would have caught it.'” (7:30—8:03)“[After finding out about the embezzlement and] I started digging, then I'm starting to get angry. I'm angry at myself, and I'm angry at the person doing this. I'm angry at the fact that she's done this to a patient, and then the patient trusted us to hire somebody that wouldn't do this. And then, also the patients' trust that we're also doing checks and balances. You start to go into this whole...

Should you be charging a consultation fee? In today's episode, the question of whether to charge a consultation fee is explored by host May Yeo Silvers. This topic can be quite divisive in the business world, with some advocating for fees and others against it. May firmly stands on the side of not charging for discovery calls, BUT charge for consultations, which most people often confuse the two. Discovery calls are for you to find out more details about what your potential clients need help with and determine if you have the capability and bandwidth to help them. Consultation calls are for you to CONSULT AND SHARE PROFESSIONAL ADVICE, hence, you should charge a consultation fee. The best way to grow a business is to build a safe and trustworthy relationship with your potential clients. Because when people can trust you, they are more likely to invest into your services. For example, May draws inspiration from successful business models like Costco, which uses the concept of free samples to attract and engage customers. And for event planners, the easiest way to input this strategy into your own business is by providing free content through newsletters, videos, and social media posts. Ultimately, the decision to charge a consultation fee depends on your business model, expertise, and client base. But May's approach aims to create a strong foundation for attracting and converting clients without tripping over a thousand dollars to pick up a dollar by charging a “consultation fee”. Quotes • "To make people part with their hard earned money and want to work with you, you have to create an environment that it is safe for them to invest in you." (2:08 | May) • "Giving away something for free is a good way to close the gap of trying to get this person to pay me to fulfill a service. It can make it easier for me to convert a lead into a paying client." (4:06 | May) • "I like being able to learn from within my own industry and also learn from people from other industries to see what they have done and see how I can customize it and implement it in my own events business." (6:13 | May) • "When people pay a consultation fee, they expect you to show that you are legit." (33:45 | May) • "If you have nothing to show in the digital world or your local market, you should not consider charging a consultation fee. Build a presence, share free content, and create goodwill before asking for payment." Please share with me in the comments! In this episode: When does the trauma response kick in? 272 The Importance of Differences As we grow and meet people we come to find that how we portray ourselves and our stories is immensely important to how we are perceived and how we build connections within and outside of our communities. In this episode Sarah Elkins and Jeanette Jergens discuss the importance of our stories and cultures, even from county to county. Without differences and uniqueness among one another there wouldn't be many differing stories and that would be quite boring. Highlights You don't waste good in any form, even if you can't see it at first. The difference of cultures and stories even in our own country. Even if your lifestyles are different, you can still be centered with your values and the value of the friendship you share. Quotes “To hear her struggles and my struggles are so different, but yet they're the same.” “To know that something that you do and your lifestyle makes a difference.” “Sometimes we get locked in our worlds and, like, I compare my world to a baseball. It's kind of beat up after a long time, but yet kids will come and pick it up, and it becomes a gem to them. And then you know sometime you'll be put on a shelf for someone to treasure.” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, What stories are you telling that you don't even realize how meaningful they can be to others? What stories are you telling to represent your life, your beaten up baseball, so that others can value them and treasure those stories? And, as always, thank you for listening. About Jeanette Jeanette Jergens is a furrier and rancher in Shelby Montana who knows firsthand what hard work and determination is. After discovering her passion for being a furrier, which is when one is creating costumes or heirlooms out of fur, Jeanette has made not only a living but priceless connections between other people from all over the country. After meeting Sarah at the Montana Farmers Union Women's Conference, her stories had such an impact on the Chief Storymaker that Sarah had to have Jeanette on the podcast. Be sure to check out Jeanette's Instagram! Be sure to check out the Job Interview Storytelling Course as well to make sure you nail that next interview!
With Bridjet Morris, Influencer and Lifestyle Blogger There was a time when we relied exclusively on newspapers, TV, or radio for the latest news updates. If we wanted information on the latest fashion and makeup trends, we'd spend hours gazing at colorful magazine ads or watching television commercials. But as magazine revenues plummeted and TV viewers began fast-forwarding through commercials, advertisers had to find new ways to get their products before the public. Thus began the golden age of the product “Influencer.” Influencers are all over the media, promoting product endorsements and touting the newest fashion trends. But what is an influencer and how can you become one? If you're already in the public eye or a well-known celebrity, companies are beating down your door to get you to promote their products. But if you're not a celebrity, can you still be paid to sponsor products? If you're just starting as an influencer, how do you expand your following or find sponsors? If you want to learn what it takes to become an influencer and build a brand, then you'll want to listen to my interview with popular women's empowerment mentor and motherhood and lifestyle blogger, Bridjet Morris. What You'll Hear in This Episode: What exactly is an influencer? Bridjet's 3 Es of blogging and influencing: Educate, Empower, and Entertain. Bridjet walks us through the process of developing her brand and how she finds companies and people to partner with. Should someone have a niche or can you be an influencer in a broad sense? Who inspired Bridjet to blog and create content? What are the qualities that make influencers successful? How does someone make money being an influencer? What does a motherhood influencer talk about? How does someone gain more followers? What are the common questions she gets? What does it mean to be a micro-influencer? What kinds of brand partnerships does she do? Today's Takeaway: Unless you're already a well-known celebrity with a huge social media following, you're not going to become an internet sensation overnight. It takes a tremendous amount of time, dedication, and commitment to build a brand and become a successful influencer. You need to know your audience, be relatable and get them to engage with you. Especially if you want your followers to rely upon your sponsored product recommendations or tips on how to make their lives easier. As we've heard from Bridjet, once you've identified your platform and area of expertise, it's important to establish that sense of authenticity that allows your audience to see you as someone they can trust, relate to, and connect with on a regular basis. It's also important to recognize that you're cultivating a community of like-minded individuals and sometimes it takes a village to validate and support each other. Remember every day is a gift and the gift we get from being vulnerable enough to reveal our true selves to others may very well encourage them to be just as real in return with us. I'm Florine Mark and that's “Today's Takeaway. Quotes: “To be honest with you, I kind of think we're all influencers in our own way.” — Bridjet “Honestly, it's just about having really vulnerable conversations because I think that's how my audience connects with me.” — Bridjet “My platform and my mission is to help inspire other women who feel alone and like they are the only ones going through something.” — Bridjet To be honest with you, my personal brand is ever-evolving, just like I am so you know just constantly cultivating that.” — Bridjet “The people that influenced me the most were the old school influencers, fashion bloggers.” — Bridjet “To be a blogger, you need to show some consistency, you need to use your voice, and you need to assert yourself as a thought leader.” — Bridjet “I try just to be authentic and honest. And that's, I think, where the true connection comes in.” — Bridjet Brought to You By: Florine Mark Mentioned in This Episode: Bridjet Morris Bridjet Morris Instagram
The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, discussing wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. Today we are joined by Hally Brooke, the Founder & CEO of Live Nourished. Hally works with her clients to heal their relationship with food and their bodies, teach them how to use food as medicine, and live a well-rounded life. She provides some incredible tips on how to shift our focus to living a nourished life in every aspect - food, water, play, joy, prayer, etc. and then dives into her four categories of food. Hally explains how our body uses food as medicine and how elimination diets are not an end-all-be-all. She also talks about how our body reacts to food that we are eating and what information it is getting from the food we are fueling it with. Tune into this empowering episode to better understand how to live a nourished life.IN THIS EPISODE:● [6:08] Hally shares her background and how she got to where she is today. ● [10:30] What does Hally mean when she says “Live Nourished”?● [12:28] How does Hally help clients learn that eating a burger can actually be more nourishing than a salad?● [18:25] Overview of the four categories of food.● [20:57] How do we think about the energy of foods?● [27:56] How does our food inform the body what actions to take? ● [35:05] How do we use food as medicine? ● [41:55] How do we manage the relationship with food and connection?● [53:11] New Year's Resolutions are typically given up by Mid-February. What tips would Hally give to people ready to throw their goals away? ● [53:45] What is the right way to approach goals?KEY TAKEAWAYS:● When you are making food decisions, use insourcing! The apps and diets out there are not the rules; listening to your body is the only rule and guideline that you need to follow. Sometimes we need to use food as medicine, but it is not a long-term plan; elimination should be used as healing. ● Our brains are hardwired to avoid failure. It's safer for our brain to have us quit than to see the potential of failure. ● Take a step back and get curious about your habits. Are you eating ice cream every night because you want it, and it's a nourishing behavior with your family and brings joy? Or are you eating it because it's just something you do? The goal is to make a nourishing choice 100% of the time. ● If your goals and values are not in alignment, the goal will not become a reality. Understanding why your goals and values are important to you is when the magic happens and what keeps you going.QUOTES: “To live nourished is to treat me like I love me, to eat vegetables, to drink water, to move, to play, to pray, to rest, to refresh, to enjoy, to have fun, to laugh, basically living nourished is a holistic, whole person, encompassing well being. It's mental, emotional, and physical. It's nutrition, exercise, relationship health, health, and the way we think about ourselves, and it's the idea that sometimes actually eating a burger and fries is a more nourishing meal than eating a salad. Sometimes taking a nap is a more nourishing choice than going for a run or doing a workout.” - Hally Brooke“Living Nourished is this beautiful way to honor our bodies as these incredible, miraculous things that they are and say we're actually really complex. Doing a diet is not living nourished; eating good whole foods is living nourished, honoring my friends' birthday party, and having a piece of cake at that birthday party is actually living nourished.” - Hally Brooke “Food is the fastest way to heal ourselves or the slowest way to kill ourselves.” - Hally Brooke“We can shift our perspective from my fat is bad, and I hate it, and I hate my body, to actually, I'm really grateful for my fat because my fat is storing energy for when I need it most. And I can let my body know that I'm safe and that I don't need that extra energy right now because I'm going to give it the energy that it needs when it needs it. And so we can thank that fat, and we can release it from its job, and we can let it go.” - Hally Brooke “This is where the culture of wellness is doing everybody such a disservice because we're taught that this is the antithesis of health, that food as connection…is such a problem.” - Jenn TrepeckRESOURCES:Become A Member of Salad with a Side of FriesJenn's Free Menu PlanA Salad With a Side of FriesA Salad With a Side of Fries InstagramGUEST RESOURCES: Live Nourished Coaching Website --> Schedule a free consultHally Brooke Instagram Live Nourished Coaching Instagram Live Nourished Coaching Facebook GroupLive Nourished Coaching FacebookGUEST BIO:Hally Brooke is the Founder & CEO of Live Nourished; she is a Certified Functional Medicine Nutrition Counselor, Nationally Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, Fox 21 Fitness & Nutrition Expert, and fierce industry advocate. What started as pure personal training has morphed over the years into a full functional medicine wellness and nutrition practice. Summary:In learning to love our neighbor, do we allow a difference to cause us tothen not love our neighbor?Does that person love the Lord with all that they know how to do?Let us relate simply with the Love of the Lord for one another.Show Notes:• There are “proofs” that the rapture will take place in thescripture, does it really matter as to when?• Relationships are more important than doctrines.• The Centurion knew more principles than many even today.References:1 Corinthians 9:19-23 NIV19. Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave toeveryone, to win as many as possible.20. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under thelaw I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under thelaw), so as to win those under the law.21. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law(though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as towin those not having the law.22. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all thingsto all people so that by all possible means I might save some.23. One person values one day over another, another values every day thesame. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.6. The one who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and the onewho eats, does so with regard to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; andthe one who does not eat, it is for the Lord that he does not eat, and hegives thanks to God.7. For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself;8. for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord;therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.9. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord bothof the dead and of the living10. But as for you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Our Authenticity Depends on Our Values, Not Our Comfort Zones Throughout our lives we learn many lessons about ourselves and others, how we move on and grow from these lessons is how we become better versions of ourselves even if at the time it seems painful. By sharing what we've learned and our interests in a constructive and compassionate way, without sounding condescending or judgmental we can achieve our best selves. In this episode Sarah Elkins and Ben Albert talk about the importance of life lessons and sharing our interests with others in a way that doesn't sound conceited, as well as balancing our work and life in a healthy way, and through doing so learn how to reflect on ourselves in order to benefit others and ourselves by being empathetic and vulnerable. Highlights Being conscious of how you speak and rewording things that can seem negative. Being proud of being your whole self There is continuity in steps that feel disconnected Balance is essential for a healthy life Quotes “To me it doesn't matter who gets the trophy, so long as the solution is found.” - Ben Albert “ “Should” doesn't demonstrate care, it demonstrates judgment.” Sarah Elkins About Ben Albert Ben is the owner of Balbert Marketing LLC. About Sarah Elkins "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. “You don't have to be a therapist, a coach, or a leader, you can just be a caring human,” Alejandra says of anyone using the many tools in her communication toolbox. True, a few of the seven listeners featured, who recently called in to comment on the way they approach Alejandra's content and how it's helped them, are actual therapists. Ellen, Alejandra's “mother-in-love,” remarks upon the divine timing of Alejandra's chosen topics, and she used many of the tools in a recent session with her own client. Shannon acts as a conduit for Alejandra's message, turning others on to the podcast. Rebecca demonstrates the importance of recognizing your communication needs and choosing among the resources accordingly, while Karen gains insight into different communication methods just from reading the titles of the podcasts. Alejandra follows up each example with a takeaway and a summary of what we can learn from each listener's approach to the podcast, and how the tools presented in each podcast can be optimally incorporated into our own lives. It's incredibly important to reach as many people as you are to raise the consciousness of how we communicate with each other.” (4:19-4:36 | Karen) • “The fact that your episodes are shorter and more accessible really makes that barrier to people getting into what you have to share a lot easier.” (9:48-10:00 | Shannon) • “Another way you can use this podcast to build your transformative communication toolbox is by subscribing to it every week, listening to it every week, so every week you're picking up tools and letting these tools integrate with you so much so that when the moment comes you can mix and match them and support others in their communication.” (8:02-8:24 | Alejandra) • “When we transform the way we communicate, we transform our lives and relationships.” (11:39-11:45 | Alejandra) Links To participate in the podcast anniversary celebration and raffle, click here: languagealchemy.com/podcastanniversary To join the mailing list, visit: languagealchemy.com Podcast Music composed by Gary Lapow: open.spotify.com/artist/1HlMhcNfKIELxYil5mVqDI Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm
“We make it so that TV commercials are as effective as a Facebook ad,” is how Noah Palanksy describes the mission of his AI company Taiv. Having a drink at a bar one night, he watched as the TV played an ad for another bar down the street, and realized the potential for an establishment to promote itself on its own screen. Later, this idea evolved so that companies can now place their ads on the screens in bars, or anywhere where people congregate, to promote their business. From there, Taiv tracks where attending patrons then click, visit, or make purchases, after they leave the establishment. About a year and a half into bootstrapping their company, Noah and his co-founders were accepted into the prestigious Y Combinator program, which helps startups companies to successfully launch. All of the priceless information they learned there would soon be put to the test as they worked through the challenge of selling a socially driven concept, right as the world went into lockdown. On this episode, learn why it's so important to have hobbies, the difference between being cheap and treating every dollar like it's your last. Quotes: “To get enough funding to hire a few developers without giving up too much of the company is very challenging.”(8:50-8:59 | Noah) “Build something that people want, and actually figure out if you're providing value to people and don't just build a thing because it's cool.” (14:16-14:21 | Noah) “There's a million things you could spend money on and most of them are stupid.” (16:27-16:30 | Noah) “The hardest part of my job right now is balancing between trying to build new products and iterate, trying to make the thing we have better, and how to get users using the thing we already have.” (41:32-41:45 | Noah) “I think we're going through a transitionary period with advertising…so it's a good time to be doing something in this space.”(21:42-22:28 | Noah) Connect with Brendan Dell: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brendandell/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/BrendanDell Instagram: @thebrendandellTikTok: @brendandell39 Buy a copy of Brendan's Book, The 12 Immutable Laws of High-Impact Messaging: https://www.indiebound.org/book/9780578210926 Connect with Noah Palansky :Website: taiv.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/taivbox/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/noahpalansky/ Check out Noah's top 3 recommended books:The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz: https://www.indiebound.org/book/9780062273208 Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss: https://www.indiebound.org/book/9780062407801 Blitzscaling by Reid Hoffman and Chris Yeh: https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781524761417 Please don't forget to rate, comment, and subscribe to Billion Dollar Tech on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts! “When you give kids the right education, success can happen,” says Bill Stahl, Running Coach and Podcaster. Not a high school athlete himself, Bill first ran in college and quickly got the running bug. Since then, he has coached everywhere, from small to big schools to working with adults, proving that anyone can be a runner. With a career of coaching kids, Bill is well aware of young people's challenges today. Complicated schedules, too much access to junk food, and non-committed parents are all factors that prohibit kids from being present with their training. However, Bill reminds the listeners that if you incorporate running into your lifestyle, no matter what you're doing, you will be able to not only avoid injury, but succeed. Tune into this week's episode of The Code for a stimulating conversation on the commitment to run. Learn more about Bill's running journey, the most significant issues with kids today, and how to make training part of your lifestyle. Quotes • “To me, the biggest issue with kids these days is how busy they are. They have so many things going on. And so many conflicting schedules.” (16:53 - 17:03 | Bill) • “People in this country don't spend enough time thinking about, “What do I need as fuel?” instead of what's convenient.” (27:57 - 28:03 | Bill) • “When you give kids the right education, success can happen.” (28:31 - 28:37 | Bill) • “Until you develop the running lifestyle, you're going to go out and get hurt. You're going to quit. And it's the same thing as quitting your weight loss program. Until you do what you need to do, you're not going to be able to run successfully and long term.” (34:25 - 34:44 | Bill) • “All the other extraneous things you can't affect, you got to put a fence around it. And I just tell kids, you got to focus on this workout right now. That's the only way to succeed in that workout.” (49:51 - 49:02 | Bill) Links Bill Stahl Podcast | https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5zb3VuZGNsb3VkLmNvbS91c2Vycy9zb3VuZGNsb3VkOnVzZXJzOjMwNzU1NDYzMy9zb3VuZHMucnNz?sa=X&ved=0CAkQlvsGahcKEwiw8ZaIn_T3AhUAAAAAHQAAAAAQAQ&hl=en Connect with Physio Room: Website | https://physioroomco.com/ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/physioroomco/ Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/physioroomco Andrew's Personal Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/dr.andrewfix/ Andrew's Personal Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/andrew.fix.9/ Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm
The time used to invest in yourself reflects on the quality of relationships you engage in. In this episode, Carolyn Yates shares her expertise and advice for people struggling with their mental health. Our mental health condition is often affected by a lot of factors; the people around us, social media, and personal pressures but the best way to deal with this is to prioritize self-care. WHAT DID YOUNG CAROLYN WANT TO BE WHEN SHE GREW UP? Carolyn wasn't sure what she wanted to be when she grew up. But as a young kid, she's always been fascinated with how people think and behave. She explored a few different routes, but eventually, she became a psychology major in college. Through this, her interest in the human personality further developed. Then she finished her grad school and became a therapist. Although her journey started out with not being sure about what to be when she becomes older, there was a specific interest she kept in her heart that lead her to who she is today. Carolyn's advice for people who are afraid of making a pivot in their lives, “be open-minded to different ideas.” When she graduated in 2008, she entered the workforce but unfortunately, the economy collapsed. Our situations may seem like adversity initially, but they can become a blessing in the end. Because of the economic crisis, she decided to go back to school and explored new ways of life. TWEETS “Be open-minded to different ideas.” #chasingdreams QUOTES "Things that feel like adversity in your path may ultimately be blessings in the long term." GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF Most of us are raised to believe that we always have to put the needs of others first. This notion is deeply embedded in our culture that we think that by putting ourselves first, we are committing a crime. This thinking made some of us resentful toward life. There's lingering guilt of not being able to do what we've always wanted to because we put others first. When Carolyn was asked if it's possible for us to take care of ourselves first, she answered, “it's about giving yourself the permission to take care of yourself.” She adds, “to have a bit of time for yourself means you can show up in better ways.” There may be a lot of guilt involved in doing this, but this is actually not a bad thing. Some people may label this as being selfish but Carolyn reframes this. She makes people understand that spending time on yourself is always a worthy investment. When you prioritize yourself, you also get to evaluate how you are towards others and how you treat yourself. It allows you to be more patient and present. TWEETS "Take time for yourself." #chasingdreams QUOTES “To have a little bit of time for yourself means you can show up in better ways.” WAYS TO PERFORM SELF-CARE Your self-care methods don't have to be grand and expensive. When people think of self-care, they equate it with going on splendid vacations, spas, or shopping. These can be forms of self-care, but they can also be meditating, going for a walk, enjoying nature, journaling, exercising, or nourishing your body with a healthy meal. https://www.verywellmind.com/self-care-strategies-overall-stress-reduction-3144729 (Self-care) can be the simple things you do that give you joy, help you calm down, and re-center. It doesn't have to break the bank. It's not always a one-size-fits-all, so you have to explore what self-care methods work for you. As you engage in self-care, you see the world from a different perspective. You become more in tune with your thoughts, and emotions and begin to understand what it is that you need. You learn that you can be capable of achieving things if you nurture yourself first. TWEETS "Take some time to go outside, there's something about it that's calming and soothing." #chasingdreams QUOTES “Self-care is a way to manage stress.” WHY YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH The

Change Starts With You In this episode, Michael explains how change starts with one person at a time and the first person is you. Before you can lead others, you have to lead yourself. This begins by recognizing your emotional state, your physiological state, and understanding how you're showing up. Michael promises that, if we begin by taking personal responsibility, our impact will be that much more powerful. It will powerfully influence relationships, your business, and everyone connected to you. For Heroes, It's All About the Process Michael wants us all to be heroes. In its truest sense, a hero is a protector motivated by love. When you're willing to express the best version of yourself and use that in service, you are heroic. Yet, we often find something standing in the way of taking the actions we want to take. Michael wants you to remember that this doesn't mean that something is wrong with you. Rather, you may just not be designing your environment properly. With that in mind, he describes some small steps you can take right away to build an environment designed to help you succeed. Making changes and growing will be uncomfortable. That's how you know it's working. But by not letting discomfort get you off track, you can continue making gains. Michael takes this a step further by designing systems that make it feel good to do what is actually good for us. This centers around celebrating every accomplishment no matter how trivial it may seem. What small win can you celebrate today! Leave a comment on the episode page! Nature never intended for us to unravel and diminish over time. Instead, we should celebrate and thrive in this prime phase of our lives. By doing the work to inquire about who you truly are, you can be open to the transformation that is menopause. Changing the Menopause Narrative with Susan Willson Susan Willson is a Certified Nurse Midwife with 45 years of experience guiding all phases of women's health. She has spent the last 20 years working exclusively with women in the menopausal transition, and her new book, Making Sense of Menopause: Harnessing the Power and Potency of your Wisdom Years, helps positively reframe this powerful time in a woman's life. She is passionate about exploring the falsehoods we have absorbed as women and offers a look into the deep sea change happening at this time in our lives. The Many Sides of Menopause Women have absorbed many false myths from society and the medical community about who we are and how our bodies work, impacting how we experience changes in our lives and our bodies. Often we get caught up in the physical changes of menopause but do not stop to think about the emotional, mental, and spiritual effects that this change is having on us as well. While menopause is a transition, it is also a time to review how you live your life and decide what you want to bring to this new phase of life. You Are Worth the Work Susan believes that the best tool to help you uplevel yourself during this next phase is by getting clear on what is serving you, what is meaningful to you, and what isn't. Menopause is a great time to become yourself fully with no restrictions, but you need to ask yourself what you are really passionate about. On episode 135 of the Adorned Podcast we discuss 1 Peter 2:11-25. Peter is continuing to explain what it looks like to live a holy life, and in this specific section he is focusing on submission to human authority. We know that this is a difficult and sometimes sensitive topic, but we try to break it down with grace while remembering that Peter's main goal is to point us to Jesus! Quotes: “To be fully free, we must have the desire, the ability, and the opportunity to do what will make us happy forever. No regrets. And only Jesus, the Son of God who died and rose for us, can make that possible.” -John Piper “Our motivation rests in this: submission to authority is the strongest apologetic against the view that Christians are never up to any good.” -David Helm Adorned Resource List *The beautiful music heard on today's episode is by Katie Cobbs*
“I am a better mom when I get to do something that I am happy doing,” says Lauren Nietubicz, owner of Niet Designs, a custom woodworking company. On this week's episode, Lauren talks with host Jeff Meyer about how she continues to find joy in her work after the devastating loss of her husband, Chris. Lauren has always been a stay-at-home mom for her children. After Chris passed away, she briefly contemplated getting a “normal” full-time job to support her family, but she quickly realized this shift wouldn't allow her to be the mother she wants to be. Lauren feels the happiest when she is able to be with her kids and share with them what she loves most: woodworking. Having her children experience her joy is an incomparable gift from God, and Lauren has placed her full trust in His plan. Lauren emphasizes the importance of surrounding yourself with supportive people regardless of what path you choose to pursue. It can be challenging to start something new, especially as an adult, and that's when you need encouragement the most. Whenever Lauren finds herself doubting her abilities or underselling her products, her family is there to boost her confidence and remind her of her value. Tune into this week's episode of Move Forward Anyway for a conversation with Lauren about allowing yourself to harness your abilities and being proud of who God made you to be! Quotes • “To have young kids is an easy way to keep moving forward because you can't stop. I can't just give up, I can't not make dinner, or pay the bills, or make sure they have the right clothes for school. We have to keep going.” (18:17-18:33) • “I want to have joy in whatever I do for work. I know that's not always practical, and I know it would make more sense for me to take a full-time job that has benefits, pays more, or is consistent. But I think I am a better mom when I get to do something that I am happy doing.” (25:25-25:45) • “I think it's really important to find pride in the things that you are able to do.” (27:10-27:18) Links Get in touch with Lauren Nietubicz: • Etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/NietDesigns • Facebook https://www.facebook.com/nietdesigns/ Get in touch with host Jeff Meyer: • www.jeffmeyer.org • Schedule a Discovery Call with Jeff: https://go.oncehub.com/DreamAcceleratorDiscoveryCall Podcast production and show notes provided by FIRESIDE Marketing
