Last Saturday I published a text edition instead based on differing accounts of the forced resignation of University of Virginia President Jim Ryan. For a while I was posting these on Mondays, but the gravity of my workflow means they come out best on Saturday mornings. I've been an audio producer for most of my journalism career dating back to 1995 and an internship at WVTF Public Radio. Recording audio is how I've always conducted interviews, though I've not done that for a while.I would like to do so, though. Since beginning this newsletter in the summer of 2020, I've mostly relied on harvesting government meetings and information releases. For me that is efficient approach because it can be much more time consuming to process those interviews and turn them into finished pieces. The nature of my business plan is to be as prolific as possible.I'm a journalist first. Being a business person ranks lower, though I've added a lot of over the past five and a half years. I'm excited to look ahead to 2026 and trying out some new things as I can. Maybe I'll finally finish that media kit! Let me know if you want to see a preview. For now it is time to finish this up and move on with the day. Below is an image from one of the stories this week. This is a public episode. Jason Jessup, CEO and Director of Magna Mining (TSX.V: NICU) (OTCQB: MGMNF), joins us for an operations and development update at the producing McCreedy West copper mine, the current exploration strategy and pathway to future production at the Levack Mine, the larger vision and optionality multiple other prior-producing polymetallic mines and development projects located in Sudbury, Canada.   Jason kicks off the conversation with a review of how production and development has been going over the last 5 weeks at McCreedy West copper mine, since the company took over the operations.  The main focus over the next few months is going to be on grade-control, mining efficiencies, and adding a fourth work shift into the rotation.  The other are we highlight is some of the recent high-grade assays returned from drilling at McCreedy West, announced on March 31st, that focused on the 700 Footwall Cu-PGE zone resource expansion and definition in support of mid-term production planning, and targeted areas near historical mining.   Highlights from the new assay results McCreedy West Mine include:   FNX33323: 4.4% Cu, 0.6% Ni, 13.8 g/t Pt + Pd + Au over 18.0 metres, including 8.2% Cu, 0.8% Ni, 7.5 g/t Pt + Pd + Au over 7.3 metres FNX33338: 8.7% Cu, 0.3% Ni, 32.8 g/t Pt + Pd + Au over 3.2 metres, and 3.7% Cu, 3.1% Ni, 2.8 g/t Pt + Pd + Au over 17.5 metres FNX33361: 4.3% Cu, 5.0% Ni, 3.6 g/t Pt + Pd + Au over 2.9 metres   Next we transitioned over to all the exploration focus at the past-producing Levack mine. Jason outlines the Company strategy to put out a Mine Restart Plan later this year, that will detail the development pathway for bringing the Levack Mine back into production in 2026.  We also reviewed the recent high-grade intercepts returned from drilling where hole FNX33323 returned 12.2 % Cu, 0.5% Ni, 2.8 g/t Pt + Pd + Au over 3.4 metres, including 24.9% Cu, 0.4% Ni, 5.0 g/t Pt + Pd + Au over 1.6 metres.   Wrapping up we discussed how the company is well cashed up after closing the $33.5 Million private placement on March 5th.   This gives them the flexibility to continue invest in further exploration and development of both McCreedy West and Levack, and optimize their production profile over the balance of this year and next year.   Jason also points out the optionality that they have if the cost of capital improves or if they can attract a strategic investment from government funds to speed up their timeline of development at the Crean Hill Project and Podolsky Mine as the next key assets in their portfolio.       If you have questions for Jason regarding Magna Mining, then please email me at Shad@kereport.com.   In full disclosure, Shad is a shareholder of Magna Mining at the time of this recording.   Click here to follow along with the news at Magna Mining

Talisker Resources – Comprehensive Exploration And Development Update As The Mustang Mine Is Moving Towards Near-term Production At The Bralorne Gold Project

Terry Harbort, President and CEO of Talisker Resources (TSX: TSK) (OTCQX:TSKFF), joins me for a comprehensive update on the confidence in the mineral resources, ongoing exploration and development work, and the near-term pathway towards moving into gold production at the Mustang Mine, located on their Bralorne Gold Project in British Columbia.   Terry outlines the mineral inventory that their team has delineated after 150,000 meters of exploration drilling, and then an additional 15,000 meters drill last year to upgrade categories and confidence in the resource estimate and model.   We review that main area of focus for the development declines and work up until this point in time has been in the unmined area, between the historically mined Bralorne  and King mines, now referred to as the Mustang Mine.  In addition to being amenable to toll mining at nearby processing centers with spare capacity, there have been studies underway looking at upgrading the ore on site using ore-sorting technology, so that higher-grade material, with less associated waste would make it more economical to be shipped to additional processing centers.   We shift over to the remaining work there to be completed, a rough idea of the sustaining capital that will be needed to put the Mustang Mine into production imminently and start ramping up the throughput from 100 tonnes per day (tpd) in the next couple months, to 175 tpd after that, and then up to 250 tpd by year-end.  Moving into next year it is anticipated that throughput can rise up to 500 tpd and then eventually 750 tpd in the years thereafter.  That will involve pulling in material from the unmined areas between the historic Bralorne and Pioneer mines as a second eventual area of focus.   Wrapping up we discuss the health of their treasury, the strength of the management and operational teams, and the key milestones and news on tap for the balance of this year.   If you have any follow up questions for Terry then please email me at Shad@kereport.com.   Click here to follow the latest news from Talisker Resources

Shaun Heinrichs, President and CEO of 1911 Gold Corp (TSXV: AUMB) (OTCBB: AUMBF), joins me to introduce this junior exploration Company that is advancing their True North Project, which includes a permitted mine and mill complex located on the Company's 100%-owned Rice Lake Gold property, spanning  61,647 hectares within and adjacent to the Archean Rice Lake greenstone belt in Manitoba, Canada.   Shaun outlines how 1911 Gold believes its land package is a prime exploration opportunity, with the potential to develop a mining district centered on expanding resources and eventually moving back into the development of the past-producing True North complex.  In addition to the permitted mine, there is a 1300 tpd permitted mill in place, which is expandable to 2250 tpd, which would have access to cheap hydroelectric power, and there is a permitted tailings area.   There is an ongoing aggressive exploration program underway at surface for shallow high-grade targets as well as at depth, to keep expanding the known resources of around 1.1 million ounces of gold in all categories. There will be a steady stream of exploration updates over the balance of this year. Additionally, this exploration date will be fed into future resource updates and mining and engineering models as the company works towards a PEA, anticipated by year-end.   There is also the exploration upside across the larger land package with idea to provide organically funded regional scale exploration for a hub and spoke approach once the True North mine and mill moves back into production.   The company is financially sound, with Eric Sprott, 3 institutional investors, and 2 corporate gold producers all in as strategic shareholders in the company. The treasury is cashed up with around $8 million raised the end of last year, and partners that will help provide access to capital on further financings.   If you have any questions for Shaun regarding 1911 Gold Corp, then please email me at Shad@kereport.com.   Click here to follow the latest news from 1911 Gold Corp

David shares how their approach has optimizing metal recoveries at both areas using separate copper, lead, and zinc concentrates; but also a new 2 phase system really improves the gold recoveries, which would impact future payables in production scenario at La Romanera which has a higher gold credit.  The company is also still exploring the viability of a 4th arsenopyrite concentrate circuit at Romanera to capture even higher gold values and payable arsenic credit that would report to this concentrate, but the previously mentioned 2-phase process doesn't require this.      Next we pivoted over to the exploration and development potential at El Cura , which was not part of the Phase 1 or Phase 2 metallurgical study, but is going through it's own testing at present.  There has also been a continued focus on exploration drilling and expanding the mineralized area so that this 3rd deposit it can be included in the coming updated resource estimate due out in late Q1.  David walks us through how each of these 3 deposit areas plays into the larger development strategy where the earlier stage mining at La Infanta can now drift through El Cura on the way to the development of La Romanera, bringing in El Cura as a future economic driver much earlier in the mining sequence now.  This will be highlighted in a PFS due out later in 2025.   We wrap up noting the ongoing exploration work at the earlier-stage Nuevo Tintillo Project, and got an update on where things are in the courts, with 3 months until the sentencing portion of the legal proceedings in their initiative to be awarded the high-grade polymetallic Aznalcóllar Project.   If you have any follow up questions for David regarding Emerita Resources, then email those in to me at  Shad@kereport.com.   Click here to follow the latest news from Emerita Resources

David shares their approach to optimizing metal recoveries at both areas using separate copper, lead, and zinc concentrates; but also shares how their could be a 4th arsenic concentrate at Romanera to capture the high gold values that would report to this concentrate.  Another option would be an additional circuit removing the arsenic and pouring gold dore bars on site if not going after that 4th concentrate.    El Cura was not part of the Phase 1 or Phase 2 metallurgical study, but is going through it's own testing at present, along with a continued focus on exploration drilling and expanding the defining the resources at this 3rd deposit area.  David walks us through how each of these 3 deposit areas plays into the larger development strategy that the company is explorating, and that this IBW project is now a project designated as significant in Spain, and how the government has been helpful in working along side the Company and navigating the best practices and permitting process.   We wrap up noting the ongoing exploration work at the earlier-stage Nuevo Tintillo Project, and got an update on where things are in the courts, with 4 months until the sentencing portion of the legal proceedings in their initiative to be awarded the high-grade polymetallic Aznalcóllar Project/   If you have any follow up questions for David regarding Emerita Resources, then email those in to me at  Shad@kereport.com.   Click here to follow the latest news from Emerita Resources

West Red Lake Gold Mines – More High-Grade Broad Gold Intercepts From South Austin Zone And A Development Update On The Pathway To A Mine Restart

Will Robinson, VP of Exploration at West Red Lake Gold Mines (TSX.V:WRLG – OTCQB:WRLGF), joins us to review some of the recent high-grade gold drill results returned from the South Austin Zone, and to expand upon other exploration targets for the  2024 field season at Madsen Gold Project, in the Red Lake district of Ontario, Canada. We also get a development update on the different milestones and steps to take on the pathway to a mine restart.   We started off having Will share the main takeaways from the news release June 11th,  where definition drilling was focused on the high-grade South Austin Zone.  Drill Hole # MM24D-09-4068- 012 intersected 8 meters @ 16.69 g/t Au, including 1 meter @ 127.98 g/t Au. Drill Hole # MM24D-09-4068-009 Intersected 17.83 meters @ 6.17 g/t Au, including 1 meter @ 30.05 g/t Au, and also including 1 meter @ 28.33 g/t Au, and also including 1 meter @ 14.59 g/t Au. Drill Hole # MM24D-09-4068-010 intersected 12 meters @ 7.48 g/t Au, including 1 meter @ 73.56 g/t Au, and also Including 0.5 meter @ 16.77 g/t Au. Drill Hole # MM24D-07-4198-012 intersected 3.1 meters @ 21.33 g/t Au, including 0.5 meter @ 32.74 g/t Au, and also including 1 meter @ 28.78 g/t Au. The purpose of this drilling was definition within South Austin to continue building an inventory of high-confidence ounces for eventual restart of the Madsen Mine.   Next we discussed how the exploration strategy at Madsen has been focused at the North Austin Zone, the Main Austin Zone, and the South Austin Zone because it is the ideal mineralized area to exploit in a mining restart scenario in the second half of 2025.   We also review the potential at depth at Madsen with both the South Austin Zone still open, and then some underground drilling work planned for this summer at the 8-Zone, underneath the McVeigh Zone.  Underground drilling of these targets will allow the exploration team to follow up on these areas with more accuracy, and much more efficient holes, than trying to drill from surface as prior operators had done.  There will also be a lot of regional exploration work and metallurgical testing completed at the Madsen Gold Project this year, further derisking and delineating the project, to optimize a potential mine restart next year.   We wrap up getting an update on what needs to be procured, built, and developed at the mine site over the next six to twelve months to achieve our goal of restarting the mine in 2025.  One of the key work projects will be the Connection Drift; which is a 1,200-meter haulage way to connect the East and West portals/declines at the Madsen Mine, to increase material hauling efficiency, ventilation, and safety. Will points out that since there will also be immediate exploration opportunities from this Connection Drift underground, that this work also qualifies for deploying a portion of their flow-through funds already raised.   Will also highlights that all the development work will feed into an updated Pre-Feasibility Study, targeted for release in early 2025, that will further detail the restart plan.    If you have any follow up questions for the team over at West Red Lake Gold please email us at Fleck@kereport.com and Shad@kereport.com.   In full disclosure, Shad is a shareholder of West Red Lake Gold Mines at the time of this recording.   Click here to visit the West Red Lake Gold website and read over the recent news we discussed.

Leif Nilsson, CEO & Director of Surge Copper (TSX.V:SURG – OTCQX:SRGXF), joins me for a comprehensive update on the ongoing exploration and development work at the flagship copper-molybdenum-silver-gold Berg Project in British Columbia.   We start off having Leif outline the key economic metrics from the PEA released last summer, for a sense of the size and scale of the Project, and how it stacks up to other large copper development assets in Canada.    Base case after-tax NPV8% of C$2.1 billion and IRR of 20% based on long-term commodity price assumptions of US$4.00/lb copper, US$15.00/lb molybdenum, US$23/oz silver, and US$1,800/oz gold plus foreign exchange of 0.77 USDCAD 30-year mine life with total payable production of 5.8 billion pounds (2.6 million tonnes) of copper equivalent (CuEq), including 3.7 billion pounds (1.7 million tonnes) of copper Updated mineral resource estimate includes combined Measured & Indicated resource of 1.0 billion tonnes grading 0.23% copper, 0.03% molybdenum, 4.6 g/t silver, and 0.02 g/t gold, containing 5.1 billion pounds of copper, 633 million pounds of molybdenum, 150 million ounces of silver, and 744 thousand ounces of gold, plus an additional 0.5 billion tonnes of material in the Inferred category.   This leads into a discussion on how the economics would change with sensitivities to current metals prices, and we'll also include a table that demonstrates this optionality down below this interview.  We also mention that the critical minerals component of the copper and moly mineralization gives the company some optionality when looking at raising capital for the development of the project down the road.   Next we dig into to the news released to the market on April 10th, about the planned technical work programs in support of an upcoming Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS), which are expected to commence in the coming weeks and extend through the summer field season. Leif outline some of these initiatives for further derisking the Berg Project through metallurgical testing, environmental baseline studies, geochemistry and geotechnical work, and then more surface mapping and sampling to advance the high-priority Berg SW Target.  We also reviewed the  announced strategic investment by African Rainbow Minerals Limited (“ARM”), and the recent sidecar private placement to cash the company up for these work programs.   If you have any follow-up questions for Leif regarding Surge Copper, then please email them to me at Shad@kereport.com.   In full disclosure, Shad is a shareholder of Surge Copper at the time of this recording.   Click here to follow along with the latest news from Surge Copper

Brian Penny, CEO of Wallbridge Mining  (TSX: WM – OTCQX: WLBMF), joins me for a comprehensive exploration and development update at their flagship Fenelon Project, and the Martinière Project, with additional updates on regional exploration targets along the Detour-Fenelon trend, in Québec.   We start off having Brian recap the key milestones and work programs from 2023, and then dive right into the work already completed or still ongoing in 2024, and the balance of the work and key news looking ahead.   The overall drill program of 23,000 meters will be done in a few phases at various projects. At Fenelon, the Company has already completed 2,500 meters of drilling for both definition drilling and testing a few new areas, and those results should be coming out to the market in the near future.     The 2024 drill program at Martinière, 30 kilometres west of the Company's Fenelon gold project and 45 kilometres east of Agnico Eagle's Detour Lake gold mine, will be conducted in two phases.  In March, a diamond drill program with 7,500 meters kicked off using two rigs at its Martiniere gold project located in Northern Abitibi, Quebec.  The goals of this first phase of drilling are to expand and upgrade the current gold resource; to collect a representative sample of mineralized material for metallurgical characterization studies; and to collect oriented drill core data to support geotechnical rock mass characterization studies.   This first phase of drilling has been mostly completed, and the Phase 2 drilling will be based on the results returned from Phase 1 and is scheduled to commence in early Q3. The results from the Martiniere drilling program will be incorporated into a combined Fenelon/Martiniere Preliminary Economic Assessment (“PEA”) scheduled for completion in early 2026.   We also touch upon additional regional drill targets at Fenelon and Martinière that may see some drilling this year, as well as the outlook at Detour East with their JV partner Agnico Eagle, and some additional drilling planned at the Casault Project, that they are optioning into with Midland Exploration.  We wrap up discussing the recent participation in the private placement to raise capital for NorthX Nickel Corp. (formerly Archer Exploration Corp.) (CSE:NIX).   If you have any questions for Brian regarding Wallbridge Mining, then please email me at  Shad@kereport.com.   In full disclosure, Shad is a shareholder of Wallbridge Mining at the time of this recording.   Click here to follow the latest news from Wallbridge Mining
