Passage: 1 And as he came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!” 2 And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” 5 And Jesus began to say to them, “See that no one leads you astray. 6 Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!' and they will lead many astray. 7 And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. This must take place, but the end is not yet. 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These are but the beginning of the birth pains. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Day 235 Today's Reading: 1 John 5 Next time you are in the airport, I want you to notice something: observe the difference between passengers who hold confirmed tickets and those who are on a standby list. The ones with confirmed tickets read newspapers, chat with their friends, or sleep. The ones on standby hang around the ticket counter, pace, and wait to hear their names called to go to the front desk. Which is the signal they have a seat. The difference in the two types of passengers is caused by the assurance factor. For the standby passengers, their whole day is one big question mark. Will they get on the plane? What time will they get home? How long will they have to wait? There is nothing worse than living a travel day with one big question mark. There is a travel day coming for every human being, and we have two destinations: heaven and hell. Let's talk about a confirmed ticket for eternal life. Can we really know for sure? Today's chapter gives us that assurance to eternal life: “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13). If you ask someone the question, “Do you know if you are going to heaven?” and their answer is, “I hope so” or “I think I am,” that person seems to have a standby ticket attitude with a confirmed ticket in hand. It's unbiblical and reveals an unread Bible. There is a whole book of the Bible to give them—and us—assurance. It is 1 John. Verse 13 is so clear: “These things I have written . . . so you can know you have eternal life.” John wants us to know we have a confirmed ticket and we can have a confirmed-ticket attitude. He is saying to every Christian that we should not be a question mark but an exclamation point for God. And he helps us to do it. We are not any more secure in Christ whether we have a big faith or a small faith—as long as we have a true faith. And true faith is this—that we believe in the Son of God. Every Christian should be able to say, “I know I am saved and going to heaven.” Why? Edward Mote's lyrics from this old hymn tell us: My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus' name. One phrase always sticks out to me with this famous hymn: I dare not trust the sweetest frame. What does “frame” mean? We say things like, “He is not in the right frame of mind.” Webster's dictionary says that “frame” is a particular mood that influences one's attitude or behavior. And the songwriter says, “I dare not trust it”—even when it's sweet. Even the sweetest frame will let us down. We are born again not because of how we feel but because of what Christ has done for you and me, and we believe He died for you and me. A man once came to D. L. Moody and said he was worried because he didn't feel saved. Moody asked, “Was Noah safe in the ark?” “Certainly he was,” the man replied. “Well, what made him safe, his feeling or the ark?” The inquirer got the point. “How foolish I've been!” he said. “It is not my feeling; it is Christ who saves!” If you follow or know anything about golf, you've probably heard names such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods. But have you ever heard of Doug Ford? He won the 1957 Masters. He never won again and he hasn't made the cut since 1971 (four years before Tiger Woods was born), but every year he is invited to play in the Masters. Why is Doug Ford invited? Because the Masters' rules include a lifetime invitation to every champion to play in the event. Although Ford only won the tournament once, hasn't qualified in nearly three decades, and hasn't been able to break par since 1958, he still gets to play in the tournament. One single occasion got him the forever invite. Our salvation is

Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Musical Reflection: “Breathe on Me, Breath of God,” tune by Robert Jackson Reflection Notes: TRENTHAM is a tune by Robert Jackson, an English composer during the nineteenth century. It fits perfectly with the text for “Breath On Me, Breath of God,” by Edwin Hatch; each phrase is allotted ample space for reflection. Prayer: Father, what we know not, teach us; what we have not, give us; what we are not, make us; for the sake of your Son our Savior. Amen. -Old Anglican Prayer

“My Hope is Built on Nothing Less” is both the title and the first line of the hymn which was one of Edward Mote's wonderful legacies to Christian collections. Published in 931 hymnals, this tune has since touched many Christian hearts as they listen to it and sing it. Founded on lyrics that exude hope and assurance that God will be with us until the end. And although we may travel on rough roads, we have countless trials and troubles, He serves as the solid rock we can cling to. Christ is the sole means of our salvation. Our hope is truly built on nothing less than Jesus.

Musical Reflection: Bless the Lord, My Soul by Jacques Berthier Reflection Notes: A contribution to the Taizé tradition, this tune by Berthier provides a reverent foundation for the text: “Bless the Lord, my soul, and bless God's holy name. Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. 41 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye. 43 “For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44 for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. 46 “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,' and not do what I tell you? 47 Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49 But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.” (Luke 6:39–49 ESV) Musical Reflection: Piano Sonata No. 16 in C Major, K. 545: II. Andante by W. A. Mozart Reflection Notes: In true fashion for Mozart's middle movements, this Andante blooms slowly with gentle and delicate notes; the melody ascends in joyful fashion at the most climactic points before settling back down with the satisfying left hand harmonies. Prayer: Almighty God, heavenly Father, because we are so weak in ourselves that we cannot stand even for a moment, and moreover, our sworn enemies—the devil, the world, and our own flesh—do not cease to attack us; will you, therefore, keep and strengthen us by the power of your Holy Spirit, so that we may firmly resist them and not go down to defeat in this spiritual war, but remain persistent until we finally obtain the complete victory and reign together with your Son, our Lord and Protector Jesus Christ, in your kingdom forevermore. Amen. -Zacharias Ursinus
In 1834, Edward Mote wrote the lyrics to this hymn sometime after finding his faith in a chapel service in London at age 15. It was not put to music and published until 1863, and appeared in the Devotional and Tune Book the following year.It speaks to the reality that as Biblical Christians, we need to continue to rely on Christ as the foundation of our faith in the battle over continuing sin.
God promises us peace, but not smooth sailing or immunity from life's problems. The Bible says you can ‘fear the Lord yet walk in darkness and trouble.' Check your Bible: a) Job lived an exemplary life yet he lost everything. Troubled and perplexed, he cried, ‘[God] has blocked my way…he has shrouded my paths in darkness (Job 19:8 NIV) b) Jeremiah, after preaching to a rebellious people who beat and imprisoned him, said, ‘Oh, that…my eyes [were] a fountain…I would weep day and night for…my people' (Jeremiah 9:1 NIV) c) Paul suffered so much he ‘despaired even of life' (2 Corinthians 1:8 KJV). Faith is like film; it's developed in the dark. Dark days make us lean on God in ways we normally wouldn't. The truth is, if our faith was never tested we wouldn't be motivated to pursue God and draw closer to Him. Edward Mote wrote: ‘When darkness seems to hide His face, I rest on His unchanging grace. When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.' It's easy to praise God when your health is good and your bills are paid. It's when light suddenly turns to darkness that we discover what our faith is made of and where our trust truly lies. It's in those seasons, that we develop night vision!
Choose a song you like, than play the chords. In this song there are ten chord changes, not four or five. However, there are only three different chords to learn. Edward Mote wrote the verses. Born in 1797 in London he became a carpenter, cabinet shop owner and Baptist pastor at age 55. For 21 years he pastored his flock. He passed away at age 77. Thanks for listening.
A minha fé e o meu amor, Estão firmados no senhor! *Aleluia! Scripture:Ephesians 3: 1-13 (NRSV)Paul’s Ministry to the Gentiles3 This is the reason that I Paul am a prisoner for Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles— 2 for surely you have already heard of the commission of God’s grace that was given me for you, 3 and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote above in a few words, 4 a reading of which will enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of Christ. 5 In former generations this mystery was not made known to humankind, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: 6 that is, the Gentiles have become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.7 Of this gospel I have become a servant according to the gift of God’s grace that was given me by the working of his power. 8 Although I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given to me to bring to the Gentiles the news of the boundless riches of Christ, 9 and to make everyone see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things; 10 so that through the church the wisdom of God in its rich variety might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was in accordance with the eternal purpose that he has carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have access to God in boldness and confidence through faith in him. 13 I pray therefore that you may not lose heart over my sufferings for you; they are your glory.Worship Set:“Open Up The Heavens” - Andi Rozier, James Mcdonald, Jason Ingram, Meredith Andrews, Stuart Garrad “Give Me Faith” - Chris Brown, Mack Brock, Wade Joye, London Gatch“Cornerstone” - William Batchelder Bradbury, Eric Lijiero, Reuben Morgan, Edward Mote, Jonas Myrin“Doxology” - Traditional“Build My Life” - Brett Younker, Karl Martin, Kirby Kaple, Matt Redman, Pat Barrett

Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people that they had acquired in Haran, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan, 6 Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. 8 From there he moved to the hill country on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. And there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord. 9 And Abram journeyed on, still going toward the Negeb.Genesis 12:1–9Sermon—God’s Promise to AbramLuke HumphreyStudy QuestionsRead Genesis 12:1–3. Matthew 15:30 NLT 'A vast crowd brought to him people who were lame, blind, crippled, those who couldn’t speak, and many others. They laid them before Jesus, and he healed them all.' Hope, a small but important idea, has come to mean something desired, perhaps as insubstantial as a dream. However, its roots provide those who choose to be hopeful with a confidence in their future. When young, hope is something almost instinctive. Yet, as the years pile up, I find it is at times very difficult to hold on to hope. Perhaps that’s because many hopes, when defined as something desired for, have never materialised. I’m then faced with a choice over the degree to which I will exercise confidence in my future. In honesty, I often falter through fear and anxiety. Jesus was unafraid to address those who were broken. Both the psychologically worn down, the physically sick, those blind to their future. I have seen miraculous healing, but I am convinced that healing is a much richer experience than that. It is finding something of value in God in the midst of an impossible problem. It is to discover hope in place of my hopelessness. Someone recently wrote to me who faced the challenge of cancer, saying, “We rarely choose to suffer voluntarily (and I would not want anyone to go through what I am going through). However, the blessings we receive through the experience often would never be realised without the suffering.” I quote them for this is their honest, lived experience. They have found hope, a fullness of life when circumstances turned against them. Hope is insubstantial, and like beauty, exists in the eye of the beholder alone. Where God is my basis for hope, I need to exercise those aching muscles to discover that every life experience can become an opportunity for learning where I choose to say yes to God. Your life experience and circumstances are unique to you. Comparing yourself unfavourably with others changes nothing. Reviewing and revising your perspective is the first step to recovering hope for today, and today is all that counts just now. QUESTION: How high or low is your reservoir of hope at present? PRAYER: “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness” (Edward Mote, 1797-1874).
Carlos E S Santos.
Scripture:Luke 21:5-19 (NRSV)The Destruction of the Temple Foretold5 When some were speaking about the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts dedicated to God, he said, 6 “As for these things that you see, the days will come when not one stone will be left upon another; all will be thrown down.”Signs and Persecutions7 They asked him, “Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign that this is about to take place?” 8 And he said, “Beware that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name and say, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is near!’ Do not go after them.9 “When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately.” 10 Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; 11 there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and plagues; and there will be dreadful portents and great signs from heaven.12 “But before all this occurs, they will arrest you and persecute you; they will hand you over to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. 13 This will give you an opportunity to testify. 14 So make up your minds not to prepare your defense in advance; 15 for I will give you words and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, by relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 You will be hated by all because of my name. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. 19 By your endurance you will gain your souls.Worship Set List:Grateful- Stefan Green, Chris Brown, Matthew Ntlele, and Steven FurtickGod Is Able- Ben Fielding and Reuben MorganFaithfulness- Jacob Sooter, Matt Maher, and Stephen McWhirterCornerstone- William Batchelder Bradbury, Eric Liljero, Reuben Morgan, Edward Mote, and Jonas Myrin
A Música do Dia de hoje é FIRMEZA. Layza Freire.. No caminho eu já tinha o refrão: A minha fé e o meu amor Estão firmados no Senhor, Estão firmados no Senhor. Hope in God!Pastor Robbie Gurley 11-25-18 Biblical hope is not based on uncertainty, but on an expectation and confidence that a certain good thing WILL happen. It is a normal Christian experience to fight and struggle to maintain our hope. 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him. Psalm 42:5 Hope: a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain (GOOD) thing to happen. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 We must remind ourselves of who we really are...of the great gifts given to us...of our immeasurable inheritance regardless if we deserve OR NOT! Our hope is in what Jesus did, is doing and WILL DO! Matthew 26:17-19 The Last Supper 17 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” 18 He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” 19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. Colossians 1:27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. John 16:7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. The glory - the manifested tangible presence of God resides in us - Christ in me, the hope of glory Isaiah 40:31... but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. How do we build our hope? TRUST HIM! Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. TRUST HIM! so you may OVERFLOW WITH HOPE! Trusting HIM is the opposite of trying to make it happen yourself. Hope begins to overflow when we let go and LET GOD have control. Even if you are the poorest, most neglected person on planet Earth, you can have HOPE because of the blood and body of Jesus Christ. You can EXPECT there is something good that WILL HAPPEN in your future. "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less" by Edward Mote, 1797-1874 1. My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus' blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. 2. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. 3. His oath, His covenant, and blood Support me in the whelming flood; When every earthly prop gives way, He then is all my Hope and Stay. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. 4. When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh, may I then in Him be found, Clothed in His righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before the throne! On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand

REFLECTION QUOTES “Have you realized that most of your unhappiness in life is due to the fact that you are listening to yourself instead of talking to yourself? Take those thoughts that come to you the moment you wake up in the morning. You have not originated them but they are talking to you, they bring back the problems of yesterday, etc. Somebody is talking. Who is talking to you? Your self is talking to you. Now this man's treatment [in Psalm 42] was this: instead of allowing this self to talk to him, he starts talking to himself. ‘Why art thou cast down, O my soul?' he asks. His soul had been depressing him, crushing him. So he stands up and says, ‘Self, listen for moment, I will speak to you.'” ~David Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Welsh Pastor and Medical Doctor “I read in a periodical the other day that the fundamental thing is how we think of God. By God Himself, it is not! How God thinks of us is not only more important, but infinitely more important. Indeed, how we think of Him is of no importance except in so far as it is related to how He thinks of us.” ~C.S. Lewis, British Theologian and Writer “The Psalms help us to pray our feelings.” ~Tim Keller, Pastor Redeemer Presbyterian Church of NYC “You say you'll give me, eyes in a moon of blindness, a river in a time of dryness, a harbor in the tempest, but all the promises we make from the cradle to the grave, when all I want is you.” ~Irish rock band, U2 “No one who ever said to God, ‘Thy will be done' and meant it with his heart, ever failed to find joy—not just in heaven, or even down the road in the future in this world, but in this world at that very moment, here and now.” ~Peter Kreeft, Professor and Theologian “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness…on Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand.” ~Edward Mote, British Pastor and Hymn Writer SERMON PASSAGE Psalm 63 (ESV) 1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. 5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, 6 when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; 7 for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. 8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. 9 But those who seek to destroy my life shall go down into the depths of the earth; 10 they shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be a portion for jackals. 11 But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by him shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be stopped.

Bradbury 1863( Music) Edward Mote, c.1834 Lyrics Copyright: Public Domain1. My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name. Refrain: On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand. 2. When Darkness veils his lovely face, I rest on his unchanging grace. In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil. (Refrain) 3. His oath, his covenant, his blood supports me in the whelming flood. When all around my soul gives way, he then is all my hope and stay. (Refrain) 4. When he shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in him be found! Dressed in his righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne!
