This podcast with Dr Marc Cooper centers on a conversation between host Doug Beitz and Dr. Mark Cooper, an elder who emphasizes a distinct approach to aging and wisdom. The conversation explores the difference between simply being “older” and embracing the state of “elderhood,” which Dr Cooper defines as a way of being, a state of self-awareness and higher consciousness achieved through embracing intuition, letting go of fear of death, and finding purpose beyond material pursuits. The podcast aims to guide listeners to demystify and develop their own intuition by understanding how a shift in perspective can lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life, even as one ages. www.drmarcbcooper.com www.requestingwisdom.com www.linkedin.com/in/drmarcbcooper/ info@dougbeitz.com dougbeitz.com facebook.com/dougbeitz instagram.com/dougbeitz

Unfortunately, the way Jonah's story has been taught in Sunday school for the past 30 years has been all about the fish, causing many people to miss the actual heart and message of this short Old Testament book. Instead, the story of Jonah is a narrative about a renegade prophet in need of grace, and a compassionate God who shows that grace both to those He works through and those He saves. In this message, Elder Dr. Mike Sedler continues our series with Jonah Chapter 2 and exploring the psychology behind finding yourself in the belly of the whale. We'd love to connect with you! Today is special day of giving since our very own Pastor Dr. Karl Badu is approaching his farewell. Elder Dr. Samuel Ameyaw preaches on the topic of Honoring the Lord's Servants in Love.
Elder Dr. Tommy McDonald preaches on Luke 23
"1Ti 3:1 ¶ This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work." Church governance has taken different forms across different denominations and religious groups. Within the Churches of Christ, church government is managed and overseen by Elders and Deacons. This arrangement can often lead to disagreements over the 'qualifications' of Elders, and whether or not a man meets those qualifications to serve as an Elder. Dr. Patrick Mead, former pulpit minister of the 4th Avenue Church of Christ and co-founder and Senior Pastor of Our Safe Harbor Church joins Kevin and Lee for a conversation about his life, his ministry through the years, and the so-called 'office' of an Elder and how it can be approached in a very different yet still Biblical manner today. More of Dr. Mead's work, including sermons and his "Who Told You..." series can be found on their YouTube Channel and Our Safe Harbor Church's podcast channel. If you'd like to reach Kevin and Lee, email us at exploringfaithpursuinggrace@gmail.com Thanks for listening!
This was the last of four incredible conversations in a series titled The Wisdom of Elders. Elder Nii speaks his message with a simplicity that cuts through the rationalizations and justifications we all sometimes hold on to, and he does it with kindness and sincerity. I encourage you to check out the work he's doing in Canada and globally, and listen in as we discuss the challenges all of us face, the needs of the earth beneath our feet, and role of initiation, elders, women, and men in the days to come. Elder Dr. Dave Courchene — Nii Gaani Aki Innini (Leading Earth Man) — is a respected elder and knowledge keeper of the Anishinaabe Nation who has devoted his life to sharing Indigenous knowledge, carrying a message of hope, peace, and environmental stewardship. From lighting the sacred fire at the United Nations Earth Summit in 1992, to sharing the stage with spiritual leaders including the Dalai Lama, Elder Dr. Courchene's leadership has had a global influence. In 2002, he founded the Turtle Lodge International Centre for Indigenous Education and Wellness, a sacred lodge recognized internationally and by the Assembly of First Nations and the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs as one of the most important gathering places for Indigenous peoples in Canada. Individuals from around the world gather at the Turtle Lodge to facilitate intergenerational knowledge sharing, language revitalization, youth leadership training, and environmental solutions to climate change. Courchene has built alliances with institutions, academics, and policymakers across the Canada. His work has been recognized with many prestigious honours, including the INDSPIRE National Aboriginal Achievement Award in Culture, Heritage, and Spirituality; an Honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of Winnipeg, the Volunteer Manitoba Award for Outstanding Community Leadership; the International Award of Excellence; the Aboriginal Circle of Educators Award; and the International Indigenous Leadership Award. He is a deeply respected elder, known for his ability to inspire dialogue and cross-cultural understanding between Indigenous knowledge keepers and western-trained scientists. His leadership is rooted in generosity, kindness, and a desire for peace and sustainability. On May 27, the First Nations community was shaken when the remains of 215 First Nations children were found in unmarked graves on what was once a residential school in Kamloops, B.C. Some of the children were as young as three years old. These are the voices of our First Nations pained by the loss, frustrated by systemic racism and oppression, and the stories of survivors who lived through horrific conditions at these schools. The news of these lost children pained Nii Gaani Aki Inini (Leading Earth Man), Elder Dr. David Courchene of The Turtle Lodge International Centre for Indigenous Education and Wellness in Sagkeeng First Nation. He now turns his thoughts to today's and tomorrow's children and asking what sort of world will we leave for them. A helpline for residential school survivors can be reached at 1-866-925-4419.
Spending much of his childhood outside in nature, Christian Friis grew to realize the beauty and power of nature. While attending Mount Allison University, he volunteered for Long Point Bird Observatory. This experience would solidify where he would focus his career - bird conservation. Christian now works for the Canadian Wildlife Service, Ontario Region as a Wildlife Biologist, where he focusses on shorebird monitoring and conservation. The closest community to me is the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. This region is the traditional territory of the Anishnaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples, which they shared peacefully under the Dish with One Spoon Wampum agreement. Today, it is still home to many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples.Music by Scott Holmeshttps://freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_Holmes
