V prvi krščanski Cerkvi je bila zelo priljubljena pripoved o dveh učencih, ki sta na poti v Emavs prepoznala vstalega Gospoda. Evangelist Luka, ki je zapisal ta dogodek, še posebej poudarja konec te zgodbe, bratski, se pravi prijateljski obed in veselje nad praznim grobom. Iz te pripovedi namreč odseva vsa bistvena vsebina veselega oznanila, sporočila Jezusovega evangelija. Gre namreč za to, da učenca spoznata, da sta lahko trpljenje in žrtev tudi blagoslov, kadar ju doživimo v obzorju ljubezni, tistega osebnega odnosa, v katerem se žrtvujemo za druge. Kristus učencema jasno razloži, da je z ljubeznijo mogoče premagati vsako stisko, trpljenje in obup. Ljubezen, ki prihaja od Boga, je tista, ki premaga celo smrt. V luči velikonočne zmagovite ljubezni pa lahko razumemo tudi današnji praznik Marijinega vnebovzetja. Spomnimo se, da sta apostola Peter in Janez na priporočilo svetih žena stekla h Kristusovemu grobu in ga našla praznega. Podobno so pozneje tudi Jezusovi učeni obiskali Marijin grob v Jeruzalemu in ga prav tako našli praznega. Spomnili so se Jezusovega učenja, da takrat, ko nastopi najvišja ljubezen, ni mogoče, da bi se vse končalo s trohnenjem telesa v grobu. Ljubezen zmaguje naprej in prinaša novo življenje, ki pelje v večnost. Kristus je kot Božji sin vstal od mrtvih, a Marija je bila le človek in te moči ni imela. Imela pa je pogum sprejeti najvišjo Božjo dobroto, ki jo je popeljala v večnost. Pomen praznika Marijinega Vnebovzetja je prav to, da tudi mi ne vidimo v trohnenju človeškega telesa zadnje postaje človekove zgodovine, marveč samo obdobje pričakovanja, ko nas bo večna ljubezen v celoti, z dušo in telesom, popeljala v večnost. Človeško telo je kljub smrti voz, ki našo dušo, se pravi naše radosti, trpljenje in upe popelje v večnost. Pogoj pa je, da tudi mi znamo kot učenca na poti v Emavs sesti za mizo k bratski pojedini in da delimo med seboj tisto, kar pač imamo. Po krščanskem izročilu je Marija z apostoli obhajala zadnjo večerjo in potem skupaj z njimi opravljala spomin nanjo. Zato je tudi znala iz rok svojega sina sprejeti, da jo je z dušo in telesom popeljal v večno ljubezen. Zato krščanska tradicija vidi v njej najlepšo ženo, okrašeno z najlepšimi etičnimi vrlinami miline, dobrote in ljubezni.

In this edition of In The Ring, I analyse Prince Mashele's responses in interviews granted to eNCA, 702 and the SABC, in light of media reports that he had, ok the face of it, been dishonest about the nature of his biography of Herman Mashaba. Herman Mashaba is leader of politica  part  ActionSA, and prior to that was always known as a very successful businessman in an against-all-odds tale at the height of apartheid; in recent years he a new career pivot that had also seen him becoming mayor of Johannesburg.Mashele, a well-known South African political analyst, had claimed that he had "self-funded" his book on Mashaba, and the subtitle of the book declared it to be "unauthorised".It has emerged that Mashaba had provided funding for the book, and had engaged the author on drafts of the chapter. This raises sharp ethical questions: was the work unauthorised or authtoised ? Did Mashele lie on eNCA? Did Mashele WRONGLY withheld the information from Jonathan Ball ? What, most importantly, are the consequences for the professional integrity of the author? And what are we to make of the other actors in this drama: the subject; the publisher; the researcher/former best friend Brutus Malada who 'blew the whistle'?Have a listen to my uhm unauthorised take.
