If you've been to the newly revamped Changi Airport Terminal 2, you've would've noticed this landmark feature located at the heart of the departure hall. Does an immersive digital waterfall ring a bell? Called The Wonderfall, the 14-metre tall digital waterfall is a piece of digital art and is said to be the result of a highly creative and technical challenge. The LED wall, for one thing, is made up of close to 900 flat and flexi-curve tiles, which blends seamlessly with the vertical green wall and the facade of the airport terminal. Along with piano music and sounds of the waterfall rush, the Wonderfall was quite the spectacle. But ever wondered who are the ones behind such digital entertainment experiences combining video, lighting, sounds and special effects? Well, that's exactly who we're going to talk to for today. Founded in 2001, our guest Moment Factory is a multimedia entertainment studio that specialises in the conception and production of immersive environments for its customers in public spaces. The Montreal-headquartered firm has a geographical presence in major cities such as Paris, Tokyo, New York and Singapore. It serves some of the world's largest companies such as Microsoft, Billie Eilish, Changi Airport, the NFL, Madonna, the City of Barcelona, Sony and cruise operator Royal Caribbean, and is behind some of the most notable installations like Las Vegas Sphere. But how would the firm define its value proposition given such a diverse customer base? Meanwhile, Grand View Research estimates the global immersive entertainment market to grow at a CAGR of 24.6% from 2024 to 2030 to reach US$426.77 billion by 2030. But where does digital immersive experience fit within the market, and what will be the key drivers of growth for Moment Factory? On Under the Radar, The Evening Runway's finance presenter Chua Tian Tian posed these questions to Danny Tan, Singapore-based Managing Producer, Moment Factory.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Today on Too Opinionated, we share a drink with actor/director Ted Lange! After appearing in the film Black Belt Jones in 1974, he portrayed Junior on the series That's My Mama before landing the role of the ship's bartender, Isaac, on The Love Boat in 1977, opposite Gavin MacLeod. In the early 1980s, following a letter of recommendation from Lynn Redgrave (whom he met on an episode of The Love Boat), Lange attended a summer school at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to perfect his Shakespeare acting skills. After he left the show in 1987, Lange appeared in various films and in guest roles on 227, In the Heat of the Night, Evening Shade, Boy Meets World, The King of Queens, Scrubs, Drake & Josh, Psych, The Cleveland Show, and Are We There Yet?. Ted's classical background as well as his years before the camera have enabled him to become known as an actor's director inspiring not only emotional but also comedic scenes. His four-camera directing expertise includes sixty episodes for Entertainment Studios', The First Family and Mr. Box Office, and twelve episodes of Are We There Yet?, for Executive Producer, Ali Leroi. His one-camera directing experience is showcased in the independent films, Othello and For Love of Amy as well as the one-camera television comedies, The New Gidget and The Brothers Garcia for Universal. Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. After the success of Johannes Roberts film, 47 METERS DOWN (2017), the production company Entertainment Studios authorized a follow up film. Though titled 47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED (2019), the new film had no relation with the first. However Johannes Roberts was brought back to direct and also co-write it with original screenwriter Ernest Riera. The film was released to theaters on August 16, 2019. Stepsisters Mia (Sophi Nélisse) and Sasha (Corinne Foxx) have followed their respective parents to Mexico for an underwater archeological dig. Their ex-pat school friends, Alexa (Brianne Tju) and Nicole (Sistine Stallone), get the two to ditch a tour boat to instead go check out the dig. After an unfortunate accident occurs, the four have to swim out the main entrance only to discover an unexpected danger waiting for them. The cast includes up-and-coming actresses, including Jamie Foxx’s daughter Corinne and Sylvester Stallone’s daughter and Instagram favorite Sistine Stallone. With its fairly decent reviews, the movie oddly underperformed but still made almost three times its budget. Dark Discussions takes a look at this new when-animals-attack film and gives their thoughts. LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios (ES) and the National Association of African-American Owned Media (NAAAOM) – plaintiffs in federal lawsuits filed against Comcast and Charter Communications – are pleased to announce two decisions issued today by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The lawsuits were filed against two of the largest cable television carriers in the country—$20 billion against Comcast and $10 billion against Charter—for violating the Civil Rights Act of 1866, 42 U.S.C. § 1981, prohibiting racial discrimination in contracting. For years, Entertainment Studios has been requesting that Comcast and Charter carry its networks, which are distributed by Comcast and Charter’s competitors, including Verizon, DirecTV, AT&T, DISH, and many other carriers, to millions of people around the country. Both Comcast and Charter, however, rebuffed all of Allen’s requests for network carriage. Accordingly, Allen filed lawsuits in federal district court in Los Angeles. The cases are entitled National Association of African American-Owned Media, et al. v. Comcast Corporation, Case No. 2:15-cv-01239-TJH-MAN (C.D. Cal.) and National Association of African American-Owned Media, et al. v. Charter Communications, Case No. 2:16-cv-00609-GW-FFM (C.D. BYRON ALLEN is a multiple Emmy winning 35-year entertainment veteran, who began his career as a stand-up. At 14 years old, he got his first break when Jimmie Walker saw his stand-up act and was so impressed that he invited him to join his comedy writing team alongside promising young comedians Jay Leno and David Letterman. By the age of 18, Allen made his television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and was the youngest comedian ever to have performed on the show. His first job hosting a TV show was that same year on Real People, which he co-hosted for 5 years on NBC, after the producers saw him on Carson. Presently, he is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Entertainment Studios, which he started from his dining room table in 1993, with no capital and no investors, while working to launch his first television show, Entertainers with Byron Allen. He now oversees production of original programming, advertising sales, and distribution for his company which is now the largest independent producer/distributor of first-run syndicated programming for broadcast television globally. In 2009, Allen became the first television entrepreneur to own and launch a portfolio of six 24-hour HD television networks simultaneously, including Pets.TV, Comedy.TV, Recipe.TV, Cars.TV, ES.TV, and MyDestination.TV. Among the company’s top programs are Emmy-winning Cars.TV, Emmy nominated America's Court with Judge Ross, We the People With Gloria Allred, Comics Unleashed, Comedy.TV, and The Young Icons. This year, his company bought the film 47 Meters Down from Dimension films. The film became a surprise hit, making close to 50 million dollars at the box office for a budget of only 5 million. Recently, at the Toronto Film Festival, Allen bought the films Replicas starring Keanu Reeves for 4 million dollars and the highly anticipated movie about Ted Kennedy Chappaquiddick starring Jason Clarke, Kate Mara and Bruce Dern for 20 million dollars.
Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. Though around for a bit, British director Johannes Roberts came to note to genre fans with his 2012 alien apocalypse film Storage 24. Now in 2017, he has returned with his latest horror thriller, 47 Meters Down, starring Mandy Moore and Claire Holt. Shark films re-emerged in popularity with last years The Shallows and 47 Meters Down joins the latest in a very popular subgenre. Sisters Lisa and Kate arrive in Mexico for a vacation. Originally Lisa’s boyfriend was to attend, but right before the trip, the two split. Very blue and quite depressed, Kate decides to cheer up her sister by suggesting all sorts of fun activities. Swimming, partying, sunbathing, fancy dinners, but then some local guys they meet suggest cage diving. Kate immediately says yes but Lisa has her doubts. Originally to be released by Dimension Films under the title In the Deep, the movie was sold off to Entertainment Studios who changed the title back to its original 47 Meters Down and gave it a theatrical release. Receiving decent reviews, the movie did make its modest budget back and then some. Dark Discussions takes a look at this new danger-in-the-water film and gives their critique. Presently, he is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Entertainment Studios, which he started from his dining room table in 1993, with no capital and no investors, while working to launch his first television show, Entertainers with Byron Allen. 20 years later, he now oversees production of original programming, advertising sales, and distribution for his company, which at any given time airs between 27 to 32 TV series on the air, making it the largest independent producer/distributor of first-run syndicated programming for broadcast television globally. In 2009, Allen became the first television entrepreneur to own and launch a portfolio of six 24-hour HD television networks simultaneously, including Pets.TV, Comedy.TV, Recipe.TV, Cars.TV, ES.TV, and MyDestination.TV.Among the company’s top programs are Emmy-winning Cars.TV, Emmy nominated America's Court with Judge Ross and We the People With Gloria Allred, Comics Unleashed, Comedy.TV, and The Young Icons. Recently his company made its first foray into scripted programming, producing two weekly primetime sitcoms--The First Family (starring John Witherspoon and Gladys Knight) and Mr. Box Office (starring Bill Bellamy, Jon Lovitz, and Vivica Fox).
