Life circumstances gave him reason to take some unexpected turns along his career path (political campaigns?), but everything came together in the career he has today–in Broadway Licensing! Who knew he would end up in a space with such historical significance to the acting field? Check out Jeff's story to hear how everything came together into the incredible career he has today. Once a week I cover trends and trending topics on my radio show. On this show I cover "fluting" as a hot 2024 design trend and "grounding shoes," as a current meta trend. Oh and how 98% of influencers are making less than 100K not millions as you might have been led to believe. Yet these days everybody and their mother and grandmother too, wants to be an influencer, which would be fine if everybody had a good cause they were trying to influence. Terry Torok who joined me in the studio this week has a company called 'Creative Intelligence Agency' and represents rising Influencers & A-List Artists with Causes. People like George Clooney, Elton John, Alicia Keys, Jamie Fox, Kevin Bacon, and Deepak Chopra. His focus is on creating films and projects of positive impact. Terry has worked in Entertainment Media for 30 years, including brand sponsorships for the Super Bowl 1/2-time show, 4 Olympics and 3 World Cups. He was also one of the original pioneers of Esports, creating the first world competitions, tours, TV series and the first Esports arenas in Times Square. Terry is also the Executive Producer at Live from Earth Entertainment. Terry and Deepak Chopra just collaborated on a new game called 'Graticube'. They've gamified a way to more meaningful conversations for people interested in connecting deeper with others. Graticube is a game that aligns with my own personal mission to inspire more authentic connections and conversation between perfect strangers, best friends, family, and co-workers. It's the same reason I wrote a book called "How To Talk To Strangers Advice from a Professional Stranger Talker" that just debuted on Amazon. The Graticube game involves dice and cards that prompt players to share stories and foster deeper connections during gameplay. Terry and I discussed the importance of establishing trust for meaningful interactions and we talked about how social media platforms like LinkedIn often lack genuine conversation, even though you'd assume a platform for connecting in business would see a higher rate of returned messages after you've reached out to someone. Fortunately, Terry and I are the kind of people who respond! LOL We originally met on LinkedIn, and established the trust and connection which led to this warm and wonderful in-person catch up. Enjoy this podcast of our live inspiring conversation on The Debbie Nigro Show .

SPONENT zeigt keinen Sport, SPONTENT produziert Sportcontent. Episode #37 - In this episode of At The Lucky Duck, hosts Chase and Myles share conversation over cocktails.
Our guest today is David Lee, Co-Founder of Ebony Ascent. Through the creation of Ebony Ascent, Lee is disrupting the Black entertainment media industry, breaking down barriers, and opening a brighter future for African American voices to be heard. Authenticity, connection, and meaningful conversations are all at the core of the mission behind Lee's media company Ebony Ascent. This is where David Lee is shaking up the industry. Inspired by a desire to share his own in-depth knowledge of financing and entrepreneurship, Lee started Ebony Ascent as a platform for the African American community to come together to create meaningful content and conversations. Now, led by the inspiring vision of Lee, Ebony Ascent is continuing to grow into a place to discuss important topics ranging from financial security to mental health to the issues Black communities in America are facing today. Key Takeaways: Many people feel forced into conformity, which cuts down on authenticity and valuable conversations. Until we are able to communicate in a way that is true to our core culture, we will miss out on significant insights and growth. The vision for Ebony Ascent has always been to cut through the noise and offer a space where the most important topics can be discussed in candid, even raw ways. Culture is much bigger than just race, and there is a critical value to communicating with your culture in the language and ways you understand. When people do not have access to information represented by their own culture, it creates huge limitations. Ebony Ascent is on a powerful journey to allow creators to showcase important stories that mainstream media is not telling. Not only that, but Lee is also passionate about creating a platform that will empower his community to speak openly and without conforming to societal pressures. Sometimes the most pivotal moments in life come from a place of personal introspection. Lee's journey into disruption began when he realized his deep unhappiness in what, to an outsider, would have looked like a successful life. By being true to himself, Lee was able to innovate and shake things up in powerful ways. Quote of the Show: 10:17 “Right. Culture is bigger than just race, and it's this community-type field of how we connect and even goes back, anthropologically. If you start looking at when we were tribes and all this stuff or whatever, like each tribe had their own way of communicating. Something just feels like home, right? Yeah. Like if, you know, if you grow up with brothers and sisters, they just feel like home. There is a language that you and your brothers and sister have that nobody else has, but you automatically understand you walk into a room and see your brother.” Links: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hdavidlee/ Company Website: https://www.ebonyascent.com Ways to Tune In: Amazon Music - https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/eccda84d-4d5b-4c52-ba54-7fd8af3cbe87/disruption-interruption Apple Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/disruption-interruption/id1581985755 Google Play - https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cub21ueWNvbnRlbnQuY29tL2QvcGxheWxpc3QvODE5NjRmY2EtYTQ5OC00NTAyLThjZjktYWI3YzAwMmRiZTM2LzNiZTZiNzJhLWEzODItNDhhNS04MDc5LWFmYTAwMTI2M2FiNi9kZDYzMGE4Mi04ZGI4LTQyMGUtOGNmYi1hZmEwMDEyNjNhZDkvcG9kY2FzdC5yc3M= Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/6yGSwcSp8J354awJkCmJlD Stitcher - https://www.stitcher.com/show/disruption-interruption YouTube - https://youtu.be/pbP9a8YYHJ4 See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

H@H: Ep 75 - MBA student and BD and partnership lead at Visa, Alex Holden, was first introduced to professional sports by his grandfather, who gave him a Steve Young jersey. Since then, Alex knew he wanted to pursue a career in sports. As a child, he became fascinated with how players are chosen, traded, and the work that goes beyond brand partnerships. Adam and Alex discuss Alex's love for professional sports, and how he has successfully carved out a successful career for himself in the field he enjoys. Listen in as they talk about competitive advantage, sports management, and how American sports reflect American culture. Episode quotes:Haas' MBA program stays true to its commitment to diversity[00:05:25] I find that there is such a great diversity of thought. For me, all these MBA programs where they are sharing and talking up how much diversity they had, this and that, I look at this stuff and say, “All right, let's see really what it's like”. I was really so happily surprised that Haas really put their money where their mouth is. I'm surrounded by not just people from different backgrounds, and different countries, and different experiences. Well, look at the same problem in completely different ways. In class, we have 70 different opinions to solve the same problem.Professional sports bringing American communities together[00:09:10] I can tell you working in sports, being around professionals, that's just such a small percentage of what's going on. Sports is about family. Sports is about bringing people together, lifting people up. In this day and age, I mean, what other things can bring communities with absolutely nothing together, just wearing the same colors for, you know, one particular day? Being surrounded by a community of like-minded, ambitious individuals who will push you to be the best vision of yourself was very attractive to me.American Football reflects the American mindset about teams[00:11:00] Now, the interesting thing about football is, it was played in the late 18 hundreds, but it really rose in popularity closer to World War I. And when you think about the game itself, the lines, right? The offensive line defense alliance pushing against each other, unfortunately, was very similar to trench warfare. But the interesting thing about the game itself is that a lot of the ideals are American ideals. It's the team first. We can do this together, if we work harder, stronger, faster. We can have competitive advantages if we are more strategic than the other. Teams can have these competitive advantages. The media and entertainment is a growing and ever-evolving industry[00:34:09] For me in my journey, my immediate step is, I'm trying to round out that profile by perhaps getting a little more onto the media side of sports. Or getting onto more of the media side of entertainment, media technology side. So video gaming is an industry, of course, to think about. Think direct to consumer companies. Think audio. Absolutely. I mean, the podcast industry is growing like crazy. You know, here we are. So much growth and innovation in that space.Show Links:Alex Holden on LinkedInSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/here-at-haas/donations

Alight, we are all wildly aware of the toxic and over drawn stereotypes that have plagued the LGBTQIA+ community when it comes to creating a "gay character" in a books, films, tv shows, ect. Well, we are fed up with these "larger than life" and incredibly damaging stereotypes that seem to paint all LGBTQIA+ characters as one note. This week I invited some who I have admired for a long time due to their history and education within the LGBTQIA+ field. Not only are they a constant active activist in the community, but they have expanded my own ideas of what is truly means to be an ally for gay culture, gay representation. Lennon Gross joins us to talk through our collective history of knowledge when it comes to gay culture and how entertainment media has represented LGBTQIA+ characters, celebrities and TV personals. We go deep into our brains to pull out information from over 50 years ago, and discuss how characters and TV personalities were represented, treated and even poorly written. Now, we also make sure to point our the many changes we have seen (positively and negatively) in the last 10+ years that have really helped me move inclusion and diversity when it comes to gay characters forward. We made sure to point our some "heavy hitters" that really helped pave the way and put a stamp on history for some newer and more inclusive shows/films. So, remember that episode of The Brady Bunch when Carol Brady found a pack of cigarettes in Greg's jacket pocket and the entire episode revolved around if the parents believed Greg's lie when he stated that they weren't his? I do! I remember it effecting me pretty hard, always thinking, "I would NEVER smoke!" Yet, I was also watching 90210, Degrassi, Criminal Minds, Family Guy and many other shows that depicted a lot worse then smoking. Why and how are we (as the viewing audience) affected and changed by the media we watch, and how does addiction shown in entertainment media change our opinions? Does it change our opinions? This episode I got the opportunity to sit down and talk about this, and much more, with the incredibly funny, smart and positive Even Smith. Not only is he the co-host of Delta Sparks Pod along with @Andie.At.Electrical, but he is also a recovering addict. Even gives us a peak behind the certain and lets us in on a world that I am not enterally familiar with. Through his experiences and history with addiction and recovery, we take a closer look at how addiction and recovery are portrayed, analyzed and discussed in many different entertainment mediums. How is the show, "Mom" showing their AA meetings, and how are they making it recognizable and relatable to others who have gone through it? Why are we not surprised and shocked that Dr. Gregory House is addicted to pain killers while still being employed? Why is it easier to digest animated shows that are portraying addiction such as; American Dad, Archer, The Boondocks? Is it the responsibility of those who are making the shows, movies, music videos, documentaries to educate and inform the viewing audience? When does the line get crossed, when do we we say that it is too much? When will Tabloids and Magazines stop using a relapse as "Breaking News"?
