Today's guest is Elena Sonnino. In this episode, Elena and I dive deep into filling up on “you”, aligning with your mission, and maximizing the quality of each moment. I invite you to listen in and learn how to align your values with your to-do list, and why filling your cup first can save you time. Elena is on a mission to help YOU be the Sunrise In YOUR Pocket so that you can feel more peace, joy, and connection in your life. She believes that the only thing you need to be ALIVE and thriving in this world – is YOU. And that it is time to turn your walls into doors with fewer shoulds and more delight, one day at a time.Time Management Strategies for Success:  Quality of the moments - “It dawned on me that maybe it wasn't time that I needed to prioritize, but the quality of my moments. It's about getting to that place of knowing what's important to you, doing things that fill you up, and being present in each moment.”Filling up me - “Many women that I work with think that in order to prioritize themselves, they need more time. Sometimes that's true, and there are ways to fill ourselves up that don't require extra time and still make you feel good, even if it's as simple as wearing a special piece of jewelry.”Filling up on purpose  - “This is about coming back to the reason why you're doing what you're doing. So when I apply that to my to-do list, for instance- every day I look at the three things that matter most (everything else is a bonus), and those three things have to be connected to either my core values or my deep sense of purpose and mission. If they're not, then they're not on that top three.”Here's how Elena likes to spend her 25th Hour:In connection - “When I'm able to live purposefully and have that 25th hour, it's spent in connection. That might mean snuggling with my dog and my husband and my daughter, or it might mean that I'm in my garden, connecting with my plants. Connecting to nature and that sense of being together is what fills me up and propels me to all the things.”Want to accomplish more while working less?  Check out the Delegate Like a Pro Master Series: www.DelegateLikeAPro.com Are you ready to turn your walls into doors? So I know where to focus my time based on planner and priority and type of task.”White space for emergencies - “I make sure that there’s space in my calendar so I’m not putting everything on top of each other and checking emails from 8am-8pm. I make sure there’s space for emergencies.”Delegating - “I learned through delegating to my VP of business operations that it doesn’t take me as long as I think it does to pass along tasks. I was worried about overburdening them because that’s how mistakes happen, but it turns out they have the bandwidth to do it and they like the new responsibilities.”  Here’s how Diana likes to spend her 25th Hour:Opportunity to choose to be creative - “I think the most important thing is that having that space allows me the opportunity to choose - but I have been doing a lot more creative things. Welcome to the 25th Hour Podcast – where successful business owners talk about the magic of creating a 25th hour every day! We've all been there - your calendar is in great shape. Your to-do list is done. You are in the zone . . . All your balls in the air are being easily juggled. Then....something changes, and suddenly chaos reigns! This podcast will help you learn to up-level your time management strategies so you can get back in control of your day – and make an extra hour, your 25th hour, a reality - every day.Today’s guest is Kris Ward. Kris is the leading authority in building your business by building your team.  Kris is the founder of the Win The Hour, Win the Day philosophy.  She helps entrepreneurs create their W.I.N Team (what is next) team using her signature Super Tool Kits so you can get your Idea to execution and make your ambitions come alive!! In this episode, Kris shares why having a team is the backbone of everything, what it means to have a “time bank account”, and how to tell if you’re spending too much time in admin mode. Time Management Strategies for Success:  Hire a team - “Having a team is the backbone of everything. Because without a team in play, you're just playing defense, running around reacting, and being stressed all the time.”60% Creation, 40% Admin - “Most entrepreneurs and professionals are in admin mode 80% of the time. I believe you should be in creation mode 60% of the time and admin work 40% of the time. Calendar = Time Bank Account - “Many people miss the value of the calendar- I call it your time bank account. If it happens, it needs to go on your calendar, whether it’s related to work or outside forces.”1st Hour of the day - “The first hour is the work that you need to do that's most important. It requires the most focus most creativity, the most energy, whatever it is you're working on. So I do that first.” Here’s how Kris likes to spend her 25th Hour:Long bike rides - “In the spring and summer months I cut out early a lot to go for really lengthy bike rides at night.”Freedom to have unscheduled days - “I love that if the mood strikes, I can cut out on Friday afternoon. I love the freedom of not knowing what I’m going to do on Saturday.”Resources Referenced:FreeGiftFromKris.com Want to fix your productivity bottlenecks once and for all?  Check out my new program: https://impactivestrategies.com/fix If you’re ready to build your business by building your team, reach out to Kris:WebsiteFacebookLinkedIn TwitterPodcast

Always a problem solver, Jamie looks at common everyday problems from a different perspective. After 17 years of working for a corporation, Jamie found herself unemployed in 2007. She saw this as an opportunity to follow her dream to become an entrepreneur. It was a simple vision "I wanted to create a company where I could work with my friends doing the things we like to do.” Over the years she and the team have received multiple patents and been able to commercialize a few of their inventions. In this episode, we discuss why having less on your list can help you get more done, how to effectively allocate your working hours, and Jamie shares her top time management strategies to win the day!Time Management Strategies for Success:  Track Time - “There are these buckets in your life - family, work, exercise - so I decide how much time should be devoted to each one, and then allocate hours to those particular areas.”Plan on Sunday - “On Sundays, I lay the next week out on a grid and understand what projects I’m working on and when. I also allocate time for things like exercise and making dinner.”Less on the List - “We all try to put like 20 items on our list without being realistic about how long a project might take - so I will put closer to 3 items on my list and cross them off when they’re done, then I feel like I’ve won the day.”Here’s how Jamie likes to spend her 25th Hour:Hiking - “In the past year, I’ve started hiking. I was surprised by how much I like it because I’m not a cold-weather person, but once you get into it, it’s not cold anymore.”Movies - “I used to love going to movies because no one bothers you for 2 hours and you can sit there and eat popcorn without checking your phone.”Theme Nights - “I have theme nights every month with my family, sometimes over Zoom, which has created a way for us to all do something together and stay connected even though we’re thousands of miles away from each other.”Resources Referenced:NAWBO: https://www.nawbo.org/Atomic Habits by James Clear: https://jamesclear.com/atomic-habitsReady to fix your productivity bottlenecks once and for all?  Check out my new program: https://impactivestrategies.com/fix-productivity-bottleneck/ If you’re ready to expand your perspective on everyday problems, reach out to Jamie:WebsiteJamie is doing a SureSwatch giveaway for 25th hour listeners! We can get a lot more done by adding in that space.DOD System- “It's either delegate, outsource, or ditch.”3 High-Value Activities per Day - “Your to-do list should only have three major things on it each day. This podcast will help you learn to up-level your time management strategies so you can get back in control of your day – and make an extra hour, your 25th hour, a reality - every day.Today’s guest is Freia Ramsey. Freia is a Yoga Therapist, studio owner, and entrepreneur. She works privately and in groups empowering her students with the tools of Yoga to release chronic tension and pain in the physical body and stress and anxiety that is held in the emotional and mental bodies. She believes that the practices should meet each person where they instead of trying to make the person fit a preconceived idea of what the body should look like or be able to do.In this interview, Freia shares her experience as a business owner and yoga therapist. Her teachings are rooted in a sincere desire to help people to alleviate suffering in their bodies and their minds. Tune in to learn how she manages her time and energy in order to get more done, and how you can do the same!Time Management Strategies for Success: Downregulate the nervous system - “The simplest strategy for this is diaphragmatic breathing. When you breathe down into your diaphragm, you slow down your breath, and you're slowing down your brainwaves, which calms and soothes your nervous system.”Meditation / yoga nidra - “ I do a morning meditation to develop a storehouse of equanimity, and then halfway through the day, I take a break and do a yoga nidra, which is a guided meditation.”High focus time - “I have two high focus times a day, morning and afternoon. Motivation is like a battery, so having those two chunks of time helps me hyperfocus and eliminate distractions.”External accountability - “I think, “When I meet with Lisa, she's gonna say, ‘Did you do your high focus today?’” There’s something about being accountable to someone outside of you to keep you on the straight narrow.”Here’s how Freia likes to spend her 25th Hour:Hiking - “I love to go hiking and just be in the woods, especially with my husband, and my daughter if we can drag her along, and our dogs.”Being in Nature - “This can look many different ways, sometimes just laying in the grass and staring up at the leaves of a tree.”Resources Referenced:Board of Directors: https://hbr.org/2017/01/your-career-needs-many-mentors-not-just-oneRed Key Network: https://redkeynetwork.org NAWBO: https://www.nawbo.org Ready to accomplish more while working less? Laura is the founder of Elite Virtual Assistants, a virtual assistant agency that helps attorneys, busy professionals, and small business owners go from busy to productive by helping them delegate work that is keeping them from working IN their business instead of ON their business. In this interview, Laura shares her strategies for staying on top of tasks as a busy AND productive business owner along with her top tips for saving time by delegating to remote workers. Time Management Strategies for Success: Timer - “My best strategy is using a timer. I decide which project I’m going to focus on, set a timer, then I get as much done as I can until the timer goes off. And when it goes off, I have to stop.” Buffer Time - I schedule buffer time every morning and I designate it as either “to-do list time” or “working on a project” time. If I have a project I'm working on, then I break that up throughout the week, but I always make sure I have time every day to work through my to-do list.”Routines - “Having a routine helps me the most. I have to have time to myself, at least 30 minutes that I’m exercising or meditating, doing yoga, whatever it is. Otherwise, I’ll think all day long, “When am I going to fit this in?” and if I wait, something’s going to pop up and I’m not going to get to it.”Clear Communication Channels - “We use a mix of email and Slack, sometimes texting, but I prefer channels that are trackable. It’s important to have that chain of command - so if something isn’t urgent, send it in an email. If it’s semi-urgent, throw it on Slack, and if I miss a Slack or someone needs an urgent answer they can text me. “Here’s how Laura likes to spend her 25th Hour:Family Time - “We are a very active, close, tight-knit family, and that's where my time goes. We just get together and have fun, there’s not just one thing that we do. If it’s summer, we’re outside all the time. My daughter and I walk a lot with our two dogs, and I also love being anywhere near water.”Resources Referenced:Trello: https://trello.com Calendly: https://calendly.com Slack: https://slack.com Ready to accomplish more while working less? Listen in for some words of wisdom - and to hear about the love/hate relationship they have with newsletters!Strategies: Heartset & Boundaries - “It's easy to think of boundaries as keeping stuff out. But it's also possible to look at it as it's protecting what’s inside.”Mindset - “[Mindset is] the lens that you see everything in your world through. So when you're making a decision, it's a very powerful way to lay the foundation.”Skillset (habits, structure, and support) - “When you practice doing something different, you have to be something different . . . use whatever keeps you on the path and keeps that visibility because we're human and we get busy.”Delegating - “We were just spinning our wheels and going in circles when we realized that we could get outside support and what it needed to look like. We hired Nicole and SocialBeMc.com and it's changed everything.”Here’s how Logan and Anna like to spend their 25th Hour:Logan - “It's all about wellbeing. So the freedom to have time to go for a walk, or go for a hike, or take a dance lesson, or meditate, or do just whatever the heck I want.”Anna - “I have managed to make time for artwork. I like to do collage.”Resources Referenced:The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results by Gary Keller: https://amzn.to/32ELfu4 Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear: https://amzn.to/3calW6jSocial B Marketing & Communications: https://www.socialbmc.com Art of Boundaries Worksheet: http://bit.ly/CMUboundaries Art of Boundaries How-to Video: https://vimeo.com/439770231/9430813fb5 National Association of Women Business Owners: https://www.nawbo.org Ready to be unstoppable? I really have that particular time I'm going to focus on that particular task.” Time Blocking - “ Mondays are our big client prep day. We can focus on what needs to be done for these clients.” Delegation - “Delegation is an evolving muscle. Everybody has to work on it, but we're working on it as a team to say, “Who really needs to be doing that job? What's my role at the company?”Email - “One of my big issues, and I think for a lot of people, is email. Using filters is huge.” Office hours - “We have office hours for team questions. Once a week, usually on a Wednesday, there is a time blocked on the calendar. Anybody can show up, anybody can sit in, you might not even have a question, but you just want to learn from somebody else.”Systems / processes - “When it's just you, or you and one other person, it's easy to have systems in place. It’s easy to tweak them and easy to follow through on them. When you start adding team members, you find that many of those systems were great for one or two people, but you have to modify them when more and more team members start to become involved in that process.”Here’s how Amy likes to spend her 25th Hour:Learning about wine, going to wineriesResources Referenced:Wine and Dime PodcastClockwork: Design Your Business to Run Itself by Mike MichalowiczReady to chat with Amy? Every week it is my goal to share stories from successful business owners and their relationship with time. Today’s guest is Molly Balunek. Molly has practiced as an advocate for successful financial management for over 25 years. She has found that striving to help clients make smart money decisions begins with building a foundation based on an understanding of what truly motivates each client and the individual core values and beliefs which drive their goals.Molly knows that building relationships is the key to a successful business. Having a strategy around how to easily connect and add value to her ideal clients has helped her be more effective and efficient as she enters the next stage in her business. This is why she created Women With Goals in the early years of her business and is reimagining how this group can look in our new virtual world. Molly has tons of experience in creating meaningful relationships - this episode is well worth your time.Strategies: Clear Emails - “When I contact people by email to ask for a meeting, instead of saying, “Hey, let's meet for coffee” I would say, “Let's meet for coffee and I'm available on these three dates, does Panera in Independence (Ohio) work for you?” Knowing which marketing strategies work - “I had a group, Women With Goals. It was a community conversation where women can learn from each other. . . it's long-lasting. It's not transactional. It's relational.”Here’s how Molly likes to spend her 25th Hour:Refining her marketing plan - “I want to spend it working on refining our marketing plan and not just putting pushing the snooze button indefinitely - thinking about ways in which we could be innovative and using tools that other folks in our marketplace haven't been using yet.”Looking for a caring, competent, and connected Financial Advisor in NE Ohio? Every week it is my goal to share stories from successful business owners and their relationship with time. Today’s guest is Megan Patton. Megan is a business strategist who has been a management consultant, trainer, and business coach for most of her career. She spends her time working with individuals, companies, and non-profits to help define and implement strategies that enable peak performance and growth. She looks at the way something is done (process); who is doing the work (people); and whether something should be done at all (strategy). Megan approaches client situations from a perspective of what is working well, measured against company goals, and works hand in hand with her clients to develop workable and positive solutions to improving performance.Megan realizes that the “traditional version” of work/life balance is a myth, so she has developed a strategy of intentionally filling her calendar with the activities that are important to both her business growth and her personal life to achieve work/life integration. For additional strategies to keep your business and your life aligned, join Megan and me in this thought-provoking conversation. Strategies to be Productive: Biological Prime Time - “I try really hard to preserve that thinking time. I know that I think pretty well first thing in the morning, so I tried to put those blocks of time where I can sit, read something, think about it, or I'm creating a new program or I'm writing articles or I'm getting ready to shoot a video so I need to have my notes for that video. That for me, it happens the best early in the morning.”Creating work-life integration - “Work-life balance is a myth. We've all been taught throughout our careers to find that work-life balance. Well, as an entrepreneur and a small business owner, for me, work-life balance isn't an actual thing. Because I have to bring my whole self to my business. I bring my whole self to my volunteer work. I bring my whole self to my family. I can't just say, “Okay, this is business and it's in this little block. And now I'm going to be a community volunteer. And that's this little block. Oh, and now I'm Mom. It flows back and forth.”Here’s how Megan likes to spend her 25th Hour: Hanging out near water - “Right now it's summer. I would like to use that extra hour to go to the beach and just sit. I love water, water gives me energy. I would love to just go and kind of pull up my chair right to the edge and just put my feet in.”Reading a good book - “Curl up with a good book in front of the fire.”Resources Referenced: National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) If you are ready to create a business plan that focuses on your strengths - and that you actually use to guide your business instead of sitting on the shelf, reach out to Megan via the links below.
