DaveO runs solo today talking about that lovely thing we all do...procrastination. About 20% of adults in the U.S are chronic procrastinators. Today, we're digging deep into actually being there for your children. The world has shifted, and we need to as well. We work to put food on the table. We drag ourselves with busted knees, and bloody fingers to sacrifice ourselves for our family. That's what we have been conditioned to do. That's what we are told we have to do! That's just far from the truth. When we finally are home, and with our family, we are absent. We decompress, we think about what's going to happen, or what already happened. We forget to just enjoy the now. The moments we are building for not just our children, but for ourselves. This is a deep episode, to remind you to take a breath. Know that what you're doing is still good. Know that it's a time to shift through. The shift from being a zombie in life to being present. We challenge you today to really think and get uncomfortable. Sign up for our newsletter, and Get your free five secrets to harness the power of a Fearless Father. We've all seen the memes on social media. The nine-box lawful, neutral chaotic charts about x,y,z. They give us a laugh, and we find ourselves in them. They are normally used for Dungeons and Dragons character development, but today we're using them for parenthood. The joy of having a toddler is purely chaotic...but in a good way. Dave and Ryan discuss the alignment chart, and how it relates to your days as a dad? Are you Lawful neutral? Neutral Chaotic? Totally Neutral (Not buying that!). In today's world of weird stock market growth, money moving in and out, and everyone wanting to get rich quick, Dave O decided to run this episode today. Why is it we continue to think of money as the "root of all evil"? What if we looked at "money comes to me fluid and free". Money is just like Switzerland. It's neutral. It's a tangible object that we've given the power to. What if we could change our thoughts around money, and start seeing ourselves becoming "richer" than we would have thought? This is in no way financial or investment advice. This is to get you thinking about money differently or to grow your money mindset and learn or remember some tools. Join our growing community today! Dave Olander is the host of the Fearless Fathers Podcast along with his Co Host Ryan and their main objective is to share their experiences, their stories, their failures and understanding how all of those things are things that you need to go through to be a great father. New fathers especially have a lot of fears about parenting and what they should be doing and if you can learn a couple tricks from Dave O and Ryan than your in the right spot and they are doing their jobs as podcasts hosts Dave and I go down a few topics including:is it text or texted?how do you deal with days that your son wont eatwho has control of the TVArmy National GuardWhat does success mean to you and much more This was an amazing interview to have because I like talking to like minded people and Dave O walks that same lane as me that he embraces failure knowing that he isn't the smartest man in the room. But what he does have is what I enjoy most is honesty and you can tell by listening to the Fearless Fathers Podcast that the conversations are real and honest. Today, we discuss how 2020 gave us the tools as dads to excel further into 2021. What if all the strife, pain, and change we went through were set up for us to becoming stronger and better fathers? Dave talks about what 2020 meant to him and how to start using what you went through to spring into 2021 as a much more Fearless Father. Three points of today's episode. We gained perfect vision in 2020 to see our worth and self. What will 2021 bring you? Will you manifest fear, distance, and scarcity? Your audit will open up a world like never before. Do you want to be a guest on the show? Do you have a story to tell or a stigma you defeated? Head over to www.fearlessfathers.net/guest today and let's talk.
Today, as we begin to wrap up in 2020, we want you to start looking at the future. Doing things that will spring you further in your career, your life, for your family. For you. When the world is great, and the stars are aligned, everything is easy. But when we have a headache, when things just aren't "quite right", we bargain with ourselves. When we start doing things when we feel ok or have that headache, we feel better. Better about who we are as dads, men, humans. Today, Dave challenges you to go out there and start doing the things that are going to make you a Fearless Father when you have a headache. When the "man cold" isn't all that bad. We hope you start to see the shifts as we begin to close out in 2020.
Today it's just you and Dave in a Mindset Mastery to altering your family legacy. This extends from Monday's episode, going more in-depth on the mindset of who we are, and getting more out of ourselves. This is for those that know they are destined for more. To those who ever questioned if they could leave the space they're in, who knows they can give more, who knows they the key to success. Today, we discuss the family legacy. No, not the Christmas Traditions. We're talking about the things you liked and didn't like growing in your family, the "status" you feel you're stuck in as a dad, the "right things" to do that your family did to be successful. This is an extended episode, where Thursday, Dave goes into a "Mindset Mastery" on altering (not forgetting) your legacy and building upon what's going to serve you as a dad. Today is the first Thursday Thoughts episode. Just a quick, on Dave's mind things to help relate to something or give some motivation. Dave goes over a quick story that happened when his son was throwing a terrible two tantrum (say that three times fast). Instead of matching emotion, there are ways to help defuse a situation. We have to remember that our children are learning. They don't understand, but we do. As dads, it's easy to match the emotion and get angry. The holidays are here and they are the most wonderful time of the year. But they can also be one of the most stressful times. This year in general, it's brought a lot of change, doubt, fear, and uncertainty. As a newer dad, you want the best memories for your kid(s). Working any which way to bring a smile to their face. But what people don't see is the pain you have inside. The dark hallway you're walking in your mind trying to find a way out. We all have our own rock bottom. Something that we feel we could never fall lower. But what if your "Rock Bottom" was your springboard to a better life? What if you had it in you to go and rise higher than you've ever seen? This episode is hoping to help in just that. Dave shares what was his rock bottom, and how his lowest point, helped propel him higher than ever before. How he felt like he was the only one, how he thought no one would understand what he felt, how he felt useless. Three things to take out of this episode: 1. We all have our rock bottom. It may be better than someone else's, but it's ours. 2. What if that spot you were in was the test to move you further than you've been? 3. Taking small steps will lead to a greater outcome. Taking a rebuilding year will be greater than you know. *bonus* Your past never defines you. It helps turn you into who you need to be. Today on the Fearless Fathers Podcast, Dave-O sits down with the father of 2 and personal trainer, Pat Davy. Pat hails from the land of cheese, (no not France, that would be cool) Wisconsin. Pat hosts a Podcast with his daughter, Alora “Beast Mode Kids” which focuses on bridging the gap of communication between parents and their preteens/teens. BMK began as a way for Pat and Alora to grow closer. But we aren't talking all BMK today. Pat agreed to sit down with us and talk about how he became Alora's dad. See, Pat had all intentions of being in the stepdad role, but when Alora was six, he adopted her as his own. We go in-depth with Pat's thoughts, feelings, and fears as he stepped from being content with being a stepdad to being a loving, true dad. Three things we hope you take away from today's episode. When stepping into the parent role from the outside, be receptive, and communicate with your spouse. Fear has a way to control us but uses it to grow. Don't be afraid to fail. No matter if you adopted your child, are a stepparent, or have your natural children, you will never love your kids all the same way. Be sure to check out “Beast Mode Kids Podcast” wherever you can find podcasts. You can find the Apple link here and Spotify here. Today on the show, we're talking about you and your little ones' first day of school. It can be an amazing, and difficult time for both parents and kids. This being the first time that you hope and pray everything you taught your kid will help them and putting your trust into a stranger to guide and grow your child. Both Ryan and Dave give their take on it, Ryan getting ready to send his kid off to school within the next year or so, and Dave-O a bit ways away yet. The emotions you feel when your little one just doesn't want to let go are perfectly normal, and we all feel them one way or another. We use two great pieces in the episode. The first one being a dad's thoughts as he sends his little girl to school for the first time, and a video of a dad that interviewed his daughter each year about her first day of school, up to her senior year. Today on the show, We use the Netflix documentary "Un-natural Selection" as a jumping point into our topic. The moral and ethical dilemma of human genetic enhancement. This episode is truly meant to get you thinking way outside the box of traditional thinking and question things that are going on in our world today. As a father, we strive to give a world for our kids where they can thrive. By taking the steps today, we can help change the world. After our week away (Which we'll discuss a bit today), we are back and running today on the podcast. We're talking about the stigma of social media and device use as a father. Recently, Dave and Ryan watched "The Social Dilemma" documentary on Netflix. The doc interviews former top social media execs and how the business model of social media turned humans into digital zombies. It goes in-depth on ad campaigns, fake news, mental health, and psychology that keeps us mindlessly scrolling and looking for attention. That's where this idea for today's episode stemmed from. Highly recommend watching it. It's up to us as fathers to understand and know within ourselves. Our kids are always watching us, learning what we do to form their own habits. We know our screens take us away, and social media keeps us sucked in, but feel like we just can't fully break away. Keep listening today, and take these takeaways. 1. Having just will power to break away may not be enough. Realize yourself and take small micro-steps. 2. Internet Junk Food is delicious and we want more, but it's not the best thing for you. 3. Learn to not see yourself as the smartest person in the room. Be willing to hear someone else's beliefs. This episode's audio is unedited. Due to a rough week for both hosts, you are getting uncut audio including umm and ahhs. We hope you gain value out of this episode, and appreciate the authenticity of this episode. Today on the show, Dave and Ryan are building upon the "nontraditional families" episode with the stigma of being a step-dad. Coming into a new parenting role with children having established roots can be an extremely challenging time for both you and the children. We hope that today's episode gives you the tools to excel in being the step-dad. Take away these 3 points. 1. Communication is massive when you enter a new family. 2. Although the stigma of being a step-parent is real, so many people have had step-parents 3. Working to nurture, grow and excel the children with new ideals/experiences is a great tool! Today on the show, Dave-O sits down with Stephen Voehl. Stephen is the father of one and working on becoming a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Coach. Stephen traveled around the world in his younger years and worked many jobs from Janitor to director of a multinational company. Dave and Steve sit down and talk about mindset, and understanding your true self. Three things you need to take away are 1. Have a solid foundation in your life. Know that true North Star. 2. When our fight or flight response kicks in, we need to sit back and evaluate. 3. Our future can blind where it is we are going in life. If you want to chat with Steve or learn more about what he does, you can find him on Instagram or email @ svoehl@gmail.com. This episode topic has been requested in one or another by you guys. So today, Dave and Ryan are scratching the surface of the stigma surrounding the "Nontraditional family". The one's that aren't the "Mad Men" style household. More than 42% of people have stated they have some type of step-relative. Yet, this style of familyhood is looked at by some as "broken" or "not good for a child's upbringing". Again, this is just scratching the surface of this stigma, with more episodes to come down the line. We are hosting our first ever live show! Come join us on October 22nd at 8:30 pm EST. HEAR YEE, HEAR YEE! FEARLESS FATHERS HAS HIT 50! It's episode 50 today, and part 2 of our Greatest Dad series. Today we're talking the stigma around being "World's Greatest Dad". From taking those small steps to raising a child to become the world's greatest dad. For a short episode, there is a TON of value here. Be sure to check out www.fearlessfathers.net. It's not quite episode 50, but we wanted to do something to celebrate our 50th episode dropping! That's why we're doing a two-part mini-series on the stigma of being "World's Greatest Dad". Today is part 1 of what we're calling "Greatest Dad's of History". We found six dads through different periods of time and a brief overview of what made them the best dads (in their own right) of history. As if you could get away from it, here are the three things to keep in mind for today's episode. 1. No matter what life throws at you, you will always find a way for your children. 2. Your legacy will live on well after you have left this Earth. 3. Remember those we look up to and judge are dads too. They're trying their best just like you. Be sure to tune in for Part 2 on Thursday (Episode 50) where we talk about the "stigma" surrounding being "World's Greatest Dad". Be sure to check out www.fearlessfathers.net. Today, Dave-O sits down with retired US Army veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and father of 3 girls Martin Vasquez. Martin spent his younger years growing up in Brooklyn NY during the 80s and 90s when crime in the city was at it's worst. What he learned growing in a tough neighborhood, allowed him to excel in the Army where he deployed multiple times. Martin has traveled all around the East Coast, finally settling down in Georgia. Being a father to Martin is knowing how to effectively lead. Being a leader and parent share similar traits and the conversation has some major value. Take these three points home with you today. 1. Lead by example. Your kids will do as you do, not as you say. 2. Balance in your life is everything. Especially as a dad. 3. The impact you make now, will live on for generations to come. Be sure to become an official member of the Fearless Family. By signing up, you'll get 5 simple tips to becoming a Fearless Father for free. We'll also keep you up to date on new episodes, first to know for giveaways and new product launches, special discounts, and more.
Today, on this lightly edited, raw episode of Fearless Fathers, Dave and Ryan are going over the state of the podcast (and Ryan swears 30 seconds into recording). It's been five months since we started this journey, and wanted to recap a bit on what it like getting the podcast going from the beginning (and the borderline anxiety), where we're at now, and what we have planned in the future for our family. We wanted to keep this one as raw as possible (but still listenable) to have a feeling of what it was like when we released our first few episodes. The future is looking bright for Fearless Fathers, and that has to do with you, our listeners. As always, here are three takeaways for today. 1. Take those imperfect steps, harness your anxiety for positive gain. 2. Be willing to learn from your mistakes. Take everything as a test to become better. 3. Go out and continue to embrace the fear. The show wouldn't be where it is now if it wasn't for you. We would just be two dads, talking into a microphone for no one. So THANK YOU. We have some great stuff in the works, but we want to hear from YOU! Share your ideas, stories, topics, or just say what's up. Today on Fearless Fathers, we're talking about when is the right time for "me time" as a dad. No, not talking about that. We're talking about the time to just be you and step away (if even for a little while). Three things we want you to think about during today's episode: 1. Having your time is a good thing. We all need it. 2. Know the difference between "productive me time" and "busy me time". 3. Just be in the now, not in the future. That's not all we're talking about either. We have our first giveaway going on, where you can win over $40+ of Fearless Father's merchandise! We have a great friend launching an amazing product soon, and looking to help him out! Today on Fearless Fathers, We have Arnulfo (Nufo) Perez. He is the creator of the "Being a Present Father" Podcast. His podcast centers on just being present in your children's lives, breaking the traditional roles of fatherhood, in more of an active role. Nufo agreed to sit down and swap seats and let Dave pick his brain on what makes him a "Fearless Father". Nufo brings some AMAZING insight into his life as a dad. From where his mind was when his wife was pregnant after only knowing each other six months, to how he learned from his past mistakes and adapted to his kids, to breaking his stigmas and being not just a father, but a mentor to his kids. There is so much in this episode, but we want you to hold on to these three takeaways: 1. Don't just be supportive, be present. 2. Your kids learn by your actions, not your words. 3. Discipline your kids, but don't instill fear. You can find Nufo, and the "Being A Present Father" Podcast on Anchor.fm, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and anywhere you catch podcasts. Today on the Fearless Fathers Podcast, we have Chris Castillo. Chris is a 28-year-old father of 19-month-old Leo and engaged to his fiancé Val. Chris is a traveling construction worker finding his way in music. Chris agreed to sit down with Dave and Ryan and answer on what makes him a "Fearless Father". Three massive takeaways Chris drops 1. It's easy to fall back into negative traps. 2. Being a dad is a full-time job, be the best at your job. 3. Your passions will make an incredible career. Don't be afraid to attain it. Dave O sits down with a 22-year-old father of two Matt Painter. Matt lives with Tourette's Syndrome, a disorder that causes repetitive movements or unwanted sounds (tics). (Per our guest, majority of tics have been left in) Matt doesn't let his diagnosis stop him from being a Fearless Father. Matt brings the heat in today's episode, and if there is anything you take away from this episode, it's these three things. 1. Just smile when it's tough and your kids will radiate that. 2. When you think positive, negative thoughts start to fade. 3. When you study for what's on the test, you miss the things that truly matter. It's Episode 25! For the quarter episode we're doing something slightly different, but keeping with being a Fearless Father. Kids Leashes, Tethers, anything that keeps your little one close by. Are they worth it? Is it cruel? Are they worth the Karen side eyes? You decide. This one stays pretty lighthearded Ryan and Dave have differing views on this, for good reason. If your little one is wanting more independence, its something you'll have to decide. Three takeaways for today: 1. Having a plan when you take your child out is priority one 2. Today, Dave-O sits down and talks to Ethan Shean, Chief Retail Officer of Strawberry Cannabis, based out of Colorado. A good friend of his, who moved halfway around the country to follow his passions and live his best life with his family. What he didn't see, was how his family didn't make it there with him. Ethan drops a TON of value in today's episode. Three takeaways for today: 1. Be there for your child, even if you're halfway across the country. 2. Don't put your children in the middle of you and your significant others battles. 3. When it comes to your passions, go out and get in the white van even if it feels sketchy. A few days ago I got a message from LinkedIn, congratulating me on 1 year being the founder of Become a Fearless Father. The journey so far has been amazing and I can't wait to see what the second year has in store for me. During this first year I realized even more how well the name of my business is. Let me explain.
So many fathers that reach out to me are struggling with time. Time enough, to work on their business, to make an impact in the world, to spend with their wife, to spend with their children and to mention to spend on themselves... If this is you, make you you click on the link, it's the first step towards planning out your week. The template I use during my first call with my clients, that helps them the most. You can make a copy of it right here, no email address needed: http://bit.ly/weekplanning
Stop making the same mistakes over and over again. This is what I keep telling myself, but sometimes... This is why I invite great examples, so I can learn from them on my journey to become a Fearless Father. Want to learn from more then 60+ Amazingly successful people? Become a Fearless Father is all about being a dadpreneur, having the capacity to decide what you do with your time. And of course spend it as much with your kids as possible.
