Your Mental health is most important.

The Trauma Therapist | Podcast with Guy Macpherson, PhD | Inspiring interviews with thought-leaders in the field of trauma.

Gunny Sodhi's family roots in Ayurvedic medicine stretch across generations, but he didn't personally understand the power of Ayurveda until tragedy struck. The sudden death of his 16-year-old brother completely changed the course of his life, setting him on an unexpected path of self-discovery.Following his brother's passing, Gunny was consumed by debilitating panic attacks and bouts of deep depression. Diagnosed with PTSD and desperate for relief, he found no comfort in traditional Western therapy. He was lost.It was at that point that Gunny would rediscover his roots. On the advice of his family, he began supplementing his diet with Ashwagandha and other time-tested Ayurvedic remedies. Meditation and yoga became daily practices. Within six weeks, his anxiety faded and his depression lifted.Gunny had experienced the healing potential of Mother Nature first-hand and, in doing so, found a new purpose. Out of a desire to help change people's lives the way his life had been changed, YouVeda was born. Its mission is simple: produce the best Ayurvedic products on the planet. By tapping into the intelligence of Mother Nature, Gunny has found a way to honor the memory of his brother while helping others on their own journeys toward healing and happiness. In This Episode:YouVeda WebsiteInstagramLinkedInFacebookThe Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams, Deepak ChopraAwaken the Giant Within : How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Destiny!, Tony Robbins---If you'd like to support The Trauma Therapist Podcast and the work I do you can do that here with a monthly donation of $5, $7, or $10: Donate to The Trauma Therapist Podcast.Click here to join my email list and receive podcast updates and other news.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.

What do you want? What is your what? Most people ask how before they know what. And that's the problem, right?” - Mahima “Freedom is knowing who you are in the core and being able to rest, rejuvenate, restore, act, think and operate from that place of self in love.” - Mahima “If someone had asked me what freedom was 20 years ago, we would have said something completely different than I do now.” - Anna “My way of coping was to keep busy. The vision is there. The passion, too! But where are you going to find the time to launch your new business – especially when so many logistics stand in the way? Jeannine Thompson, CEO of FireLaunch, has been there and explains on this episode of She Turned Entrepreneur how she once wished for a resource like … well … her! As a nurse transitioning out of high-stress burnout towards her dream of helping others as a coach, the path seemed straightforward. But, as we all know, a lot of variables go into getting any kind of venture up and running. Mastering all the necessary technologies, platforms and systems can be paralyzing. If you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed, this is the show for you! FireLaunch offers entrepreneurs – especially women in the coaching space – the full complement of tools to get their practices up and running. Fast! In under three months, you'll go from articulating your vision to witnessing it all coming to life. Jeannine and her team take care of all the things that can really bog us down, both technologically and creatively. Among the services they offer: Logo design, website content, email marketing templates, lead generation, social media management and more. You'll enjoy learning why you don't have to figure it all out for yourself. Jeannine is here to provide the very service she once so badly wished for – and could not find – when she was trying to get her coaching business established. She's the knowledgeable and savvy friend you want in your corner! Click here if you'd like to book a free discovery call with Jeannine to discuss your business goals and how FireLaunch can help you achieve them! Click here to listen to, rate and review this or previous She Turned Entrepreneur episodes. Here are key takeaways from the conversation:· Sometimes the seeds of the business you're meant to launch are hidden in a need you yourself have been unable to fill with what's currently available.· If your offering isn't already out there, stay the course. You can create your own category of business!· It's okay to pivot. Sometimes you have to go through things that don't work out in order to reach the thing that does.· Technology can be a huge time sink. You don't have to wrestle with – or learn – it all.· Self-doubt and Imposter Syndrome are common among many of us just starting out, which is why it's so important to have a pro in our corner! Inertia can otherwise set in.· Another plus in asking for support? Your business will grow exponentially faster.· Find yourself stuck in first gear? Try writing down daily goals (or just a single goal) the night before and then commit – right from the start of the day – to getting the job done. Here's a quick look into the episode:· As a stressed-out nurse with a sleep disorder who knew she needed to make a change, Jeannine started researching options for using her skill set in an entrepreneurial way.· Health coaching made sense on every level. It was a process that involved a huge (if creative) learning curve and opportunity to explore what Jeannine did and didn't enjoy.· Technology over time started to become overwhelming and Jeannine just wanted a friend – someone who could come over and help her identify what was important, tools that were useful and how to access them. She wanted something she couldn't find – and her new coaching niche was born!· The way Jeannine works to help coaching businesses launch:o First she elicits the dream – what is it that you want to build?o Within a matter of weeks, Jeannine and her team provide the plan and take care of all the start-up necessities: logo, branding, website copy, lead magnet creation, building out email marketing templates and CRM, social media content.o Skills that might take years to assimilate are immediately unleashed. o No need to reinvent the wheel or waste hours figuring things out.· An added bonus to using Jeannine's holistic approach: You don't have to rely on a piecemeal network of untested freelancers to fill holes in your startup framework.· Jeannine's model is based on that of a project manager (or even a general contractor) orchestrating the various elements that ultimately come together to create your dream.· Weekly one-on-one meetings ensure that the vision is being realized and that the entrepreneur has ample opportunity to participate and weigh in with feedback.· FireLaunch provides its startup service to all kinds of companies, but Jeannine is especially knowledgeable about the coaching industry and frequently works with women in the space (with whom she empathizes, having been there herself). · The biggest challenges that confront would-be entrepreneurs:o Lack of time and constrained resources.o Figuring out the right technologies.o Imposter Syndrome. · Jeannine's Best Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs:o Don't try to do it all on your own.o Doing it without help doesn't save money in the long run.o Don't let things you hate doing (which for Jeannine was figuring out technology) sap the joy out of the original vision and passion.o Get rid of the tasks you don't like doing in order to preserve excitement and momentum.· About Goal-setting: o Don't limit yourself to so-called “realistic” goals.o Dream big and go for things that really excite you, even if in little steps.o Write it all down! Codify in black and white what you intend to do, daily and beyond. It helps to set goals for your day the night before.· What's the key to chasing dreams on our own terms? Jeannine believes:o We need to condition ourselves to dream bigger than we have in the past.o Think big! It's a matter of striding forward confidently.o If we take one step at a time, the path forward will always open up to greet us.· Recommended Reading:o "Awaken the Giant Within: How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Destiny!" By Tony Robbins. An author whose work speaks to her, which is why Jeannine makes it a point to reread often.o "Designing Your Life: Build a Life that Works for You," by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans. It's a great book for brainstorming and creating a go-forward framework.

Paul has competed in two of the most competitive industries in the world: elite sport, and performance psychology. Paul played professional football at Premier League level, for both Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City FC. He realised though, early on in his career, that whilst he knew he wanted to play football, he also had a time limit on his career. This realisation sparked a career in his other passion—psychology. Paul is now a qualified psychologist; published author of ‘The Stupid Footballer is Dead'; and motivational speaker. He works worldwide, with companies such as Microsoft and Aviva, on performance psychology, the power of our beliefs, and how they form and get in the way of our success in business. Paul chats to James and Mark about the ‘growth mindset' that's needed in business. They discuss how improvement and progression only come from a certain type of mindset, and hinges on how you approach a situation, and then deal with it. They talk in depth about the power of beliefs. If we all spent time unpacking our beliefs, we'd realise just how many negative ones we have, and how much they get in our way! Paul also gives fascinating insight into what it takes mentally to play at the highest level of the beautiful game, and the imposter syndrome that can come with it, and how he came to realise that his Belfast accent was not a barrier after all! Today, I am blessed to have here with me Joel Evan. Before Joel became a coach for empowering people and sharing ‘biohacks' across the globe, he had his share of obstacles to overcome. From having an abnormal bone growth in his leg as a young child, to feeling lost and with no sense of purpose after high school and college, to starting a business twice and failing, and being $20k in debt, Joel's story is the perfect example of how anybody can overcome the obstacles in their life and achieve greatness. Fast forward a few short years, and Joel was featured in the hit Netflix show, A User's Guide to Cheating Death, and launched his podcast The Hacked Life. He is a high performance life coach, a health coach, and speaker. He's also a Neufit practitioner that uses a machine called a Neubie which utilizes a direct current electrical stimulation to provide the body the right signals, so your body has the opportunity to heal itself from injury, build muscle, and create good health. Joel is also a martial artist and a black belt in Tony Ramos Kajukenbo and has been training in various martial arts for over 20 years. Joel has been a first responder for over 13 years and understands the life threatening, high stake, stressful environment that debilitates many in the profession and has developed skills and systems to promote balance. While many are running away from the threat, Joel is running towards it. In this episode, Joel opens up about what inspired him to get into the health space. Sadly, Joel realized that our healthcare system only cares about the effects of something rather than a cause. So, Joel set out to help all sorts of people, specifically, weight loss for men. However, Joel doesn't necessarily help men lose weight. Instead, he helps them transform their habits, lifestyle, and beliefs. Luckily, Joel gives us tips on creating lasting habits, controlling our beliefs, and he reveals his favorite biohacks. Tune in to hear Joel's book recommendations. The lack of that self-worth issue also fuels Joel and drives him to get better and do more. After having his first son, Joel saw that his son was not flourishing – it didn't make sense. Joel knew there had to be a better way to be healthy. Sadly, our current health system only looks at the effects instead of the cause. “There are so many people suffering that shouldn't be, and that just drives me nuts.” -Joel Evan [07:30] What Joel Would Tell Someone To Focus On Who Is Trying To Get Healthy Joel likes to help men with weight loss. However, when you help somebody with weight loss, there are so many other things going on with that person. A lot of times, Joel will help people emotionally and who they become as a person after their weight loss. After seeing Joel, people have a complete transformation. It's not necessarily about hitting the goal, but who we become along the way. [10:50] Joel Reveals The Best Ways To Create Healthy Habits The first step in any kind of habit is you need to have awareness. Next, make your habits tiny, easy, and achievable. The fastest way to get to a habit is you want to anchor it to something that you're already doing. For instance, brushing your teeth is a great anchor because you do that every single day. If you want to start reading more, then after you brush your teeth, open up the book and close the book. That's all you have to do! Eventually, you'll start reading a page every night. Down the road, that page will turn into a chapter every night. [14:10] How Your Beliefs Are Playing A Role In Your Health Creating a lifestyle will require a foundation. You should be able to tune back in and align yourself with core fundamentals and then get back and do what you got to do. People don't realize how much their beliefs play a role in their health and day-to-day life. As you go about your day, ask yourself why you do what you do. People don't question you because they are aligned with you. During Covid, people believed that if they didn't wear a mask, they would get sick. Well, if you take on that belief, you probably will get sick. Once you balance the body, the body can go and do whatever it wants. [22:10] Why Joel Recommends Wearing A Continuous Glucose Monitor If you're someone who is really interested in losing weight, then a CGM is the best way to get clean data on what foods are doing to you. Food sensitivities can have issues on the downstream effects in your body, cortisol, and anything like that. Joel loves coffee. However, it was pretty frightening to see what a cold brew coffee did to his blood glucose. Joel even saw 180 from drinking cold brew on his CGM. [29:50] Joel Reveals His Favorite Biohack - The NeuFit System The NeuFit System is one of Joel's favorite biohacks. One of the most influential and transformative ways to help people recover from pain and injury is to work with something often overlooked in the traditional medical model - the nervous system. The NeuFit System uses technology to help the body become more efficient with its own processes. Sadly, traditional rehab and training often have poor results because there is not enough of the right type of stimulation. That's why Joel loves NeuFit because our organs vibrate at a certain frequency or current. He was blessed with twin boys, which completely changed his priorities in life. He started reading books and became a personal development machine. He then found himself in a network marketing business, where he developed the confidence to approach people, resilience to rejection, and the ability to sell things. After working at a nuts and bolts company for 15 years, he decided to resign and start his own business. Entering the Copywriting Space After talking to some of the best marketers in Australia, Bret realized that his business model was bad. At first, he didn't believe them, but he ended up listening to them after losing all his money. He heard about copywriting at an event and thought it was the last thing he wanted to do. He later realized that copywriting was simply salesmanship in print. Since then, he studied up on how to write a good copy and started getting results. Soon, people were emailing him and asking him to write for them. Do Your Research Research is key to know how to write a good copy. Bret spends 70-80% of his time researching and only 20% writing. You don't have to be a wordsmith to know how to write a good copy. You simply have to understand the psychology of your clients. Talk to your clients to know what makes them tick. What the business owner thinks he knows about the market is generally completely different from reality. A campaign that might have worked a few years ago may not work today. Markets change and evolve, and so does people's awareness. Come Up with a Big Idea The second thing you should be good at is coming up with a big idea. Many people play it safe, but Bret prefers pushing things to the edge and going out of the box. The Importance of Headlines Most people stay on a page for only three seconds. They look at the headline and decide if it's worth their time. You could have the same ad with the same body and offer, but you will get different results with different headlines. One will outperform the other several times over. Writing email subjects is a good way to practice writing headlines.  When you go through your emails, scan the subject lines and see if anything catches your attention. Motion beats meditation, so permit yourself to write lots of bad headlines. That's how you get in the flow. Writing in a Conversational Style People usually feel compelled to use big words to sound intelligent, but doing this just puts readers to sleep. The best way to learn how to write conversationally is to sell an idea to a person you feel comfortable with. Ask them to give feedback and deal with these on the spot. There are a certain number of boxes you have to tick in people's minds to make a sale. If you miss one, they are not going to buy it.  One objection missed is a sale missed. Tune in to discover how to write a good copy, one that ticks people's boxes.  Keep Everything Short The more people read, the more they buy. Unfortunately, people don't like reading nowadays. Bret usually makes his paragraphs only one sentence long, especially in emails, to ease people into it. He also tries to limit his sentences to seven words, excluding the short ones. When you write, make everything as short as possible—short words, short sentences, short paragraphs. Long and convoluted texts allow your readers to trip up and start to skim-read, breaking the flow. How to Improve Readability Layout design is truly important. The worst thing that can happen when someone comes to your site is if they don't know where to look. This causes instant sales friction. Take out the clutter. Ask yourself: what is the soul and the priority of my website? Make sure these dominate your web pages.  Long vs. Short Copy Always write to heavy users. They are fanatics but write to them as if they're skeptics. Write copy in the same mindset as the one you'd have if you were in court fighting to keep your kids. Don't leave anything out to get your case across. Instead of pleasing those who are never going to buy in the first place, write to the enthusiasts. In the sales process, you don't want your readers to think. By writing longer copies, you avoid creating an opportunity for readers to stop and think about the negative things. It's about knowing how to present everything in digestible, bite-sized pieces laid out in a format that is easy on the eyes and in a way that speaks to your audience. 5 Powerful Quotes from this Episode “I learned very quickly that you can have one good idea on one side, but unless you know marketing, then it can just flop and you can lose a lot of money.” “Good marketing can sell a nonexistent product, while bad marketing can't give away free gold.” “Copywriting is a skill that will pay for life, and it's because it's about just really articulating what it is you offer to people in simple language.” “If you don't know the conversation going on inside your customer's head, you're going to spend a lot of money to get a lot of data, but you need to know how to improve it.” “To be a real business and grow in scale, you actually have to advertise.” About the Guest Bret Thomson is a best-selling author, speaker, coach, and mentor to thousands. Chris also gave an interesting perspective as a business owner offering a sport service to parents as well as being a parent himself. I learnt loads and so could you – take some time to listen in! Below is a bit more of a background to Chris… After competing for Great Britain for nearly 10 years, Chris hung up the trunks and retired from international swimming and began working with businesses/organisations far and wide to help inspire, mentor and coach people to embrace 'challenge and change' for their optimal performance. Chris has built a reputation as a motivational speaker throughout the last 7 years working from referral to referral, sharing his story and the lessons learnt from the journey with over 400,000 people. Throughout this time, Chris designed and delivered an Olympic Inspiration Programme for children to schools across Kent (UK) which reached over 300 schools spanning 6 years. In 2011 Chris was a lead mentor on a the 'Sky Sports Living for Sport' - inspiration programme across the UK & Ireland. The programme was designed to assist disengaged people from society to get back on track. This role involved training up former Olympians and World Class Athletes to deliver inspirational talks and mentoring/coaching programmes. The role involved working with the most challenging of young people whilst coaching athletes to transition from sport to mentoring. During the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Chris was selected to mentor and coach the next generation of Olympians on the 'Ambition Programme'. This programme involved taking 350 potential Olympians to experience an Olympic games (London). Chris's role was mentor the athletes to maximise the whole experience and to expand their personal development. Here and now .... Currently, Chris and his wife Erica, run their own Learn to swim business - 'Swim Buddies' which has seen the business (located in Darlington, UK) grow from 7 swimmers in their first week in September 2014 through to over 900 children swimming with Swim Buddies every week.

In this episode:YouVeda WebsiteInstagramLinkedInFacebookThe Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams, Deepak ChopraAwaken the Giant Within : How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Destiny!, Tony RobbinsSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
