We've brought back Mike McCormack, founder of one of the most celebrated (and kickass) mountain bike stage races in North America. The Breck Epic remains true to its roots, filled big, long backcountry rides at high elevation in Breckenridge, Colorado. In our last episode with Mike, we riffed on his diversity, equity and inclusion efforts to welcome all riders, regardless of age, race, creed, ethnicity or gender. In this conversation, we dive into what makes the Breck Epic the iconic race that it's become. Tipping off on Sunday, August 10th, 2025, the Breck will be celebrating its 17th year and it just keeps getting bigger and better—while keeping the rider numbers and thus the rider experience, stable. In this fireside chat, we explore Mike's concerted effort to promote women's cycling through the Breck Epic Women's Tour (they hosted 60 women in the pro field in 2024), along with his ecosystem approach to event organizing including 3-nights of sustainable fireworks (yep, fireworks at the Breck in '25), the Women's Cycling Summit and year two of Breck Bike Week. Quintessential Mike McCormack, his style is very much his own and he shows up raw, real, and willing to bare all. Affable, eccentric and honest, listening to Mike Mac flow on all things event organizing and bike racing is a trip worth taking.WNbL, Breck Epic Website : https://breckepic.com/Breck Epic Instagram: @breckepic Website: beaudacious.comMichael's Instagram: @michaelleachbaShow's Instagram: @thebounceforwardMichael's Mindset and Mental Endurance Coaching: https://beaudacious.com/coaching/

This week we're excited to present a conversation with Good One director India Donaldson and cast members Lily Collias and James Le Gros from the 2024 edition of New Directors/New Films. Good One opens at FLC on August 9 with Q&As opening weekend. Get tickets at filmlinc.org/goodone A seemingly small incident has monumental implications in the extraordinary feature debut of India Donaldson, a film of expertly harnessed naturalism and restrained emotional intensity. Seventeen-year-old high school senior Sam (a revelatory Lily Collias) has agreed to join her father Chris (James Le Gros) and his longtime buddy Matt (Danny McCarthy) on a camping trip in the Catskills, though she'd rather be hanging with her friends for the weekend. Affable and wise, Sam at first seems to enjoy the intergenerational bonding experience with the two divorced dads, yet the men's own festering, middle-aged resentments begin to change the emotional tenor of the trip—until something happens that alters Sam's perception of the men and her place in their orbit. Amidst the lush beauty and contemplative forest atmosphere in upstate New York, Good One asks provocative questions about the dynamics of family, friendship, and what it means to engage in or avoid conflict. A Metrograph Pictures release. This conversation was moderated by FLC Assistant Programmer Madeline Whittle.

To round out our Meet the Bonapartes series, we turn to Napoleon's eldest - and apparently coolest - brother, Joseph. Affable, charming, and comfortable in his own skin, he was a contrast to most of his siblings, including Napoleon. His easygoing nature made him popular even with political opponents, and Joseph was an important player in Napoleon's rise. As a reward, Emperor Napoleon named Joseph the King of Naples, where he fashioned himself a man of the people and governed them well, implementing various government reforms, fighting crime, and creating jobs by building infrastructure. His reign in Naples was short lived, however, as Napoleon replaced him with their sister Caroline and her husband, Joachim Murat. Napoleon then dispatched Joseph to govern occupied Spain, where the public mood was very different. Not only was Spain's King Joseph reviled by commoners and elites alike, he himself became fairly burned out with the family business in this era. After Napoleon's defeat, he hopped a boat for New York and in a lot of ways, never looked back. He spent decades mostly living a quiet, prosperous life in New Jersey, before returning to Europe to be closer to his remaining family in his later years. Everyone on the show is exhausted from a long week behind the scenes. Dan is on a mission to determine who the most athletic person is on the show, and he also has his first ever claim that a team quit mid-game. Then, Peter King loves to wash the dishes, Brandon Staley does yoga, and we were stolen of a moment. Plus, the always jubilant, affable, and jolly Chris Cote is ready to lose his mind. This week you are going to have the pleasure of hearing from another very affable and capable franchise executive, as my guest today is Stacey Ryan, Chief Operating Officer at The School of Rock, one of my favorite franchised brands. As their website describes them, "The School of Rock is a trailblazing global children's franchise concept, that has over 2 decades, established locations in 15 countries across the globe. Now, with more than 338 locations globally, they are also the largest music school franchise in the United States, helping aspiring musicians master skills, unleash creativity and develop tools they need to thrive in life. They do it all, with their patented, performance-based curriculum, improving people's lives with the power of Rock n' Roll. Stacey joined School of Rock as an Independent Consultant in 2015, and worked her way up the ropes to VP of Operations, and ultimately COO. Stacey oversees the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of School of Rock worldwide. As you will hear, after graduating from Rutgers University, she was set on becoming an elementary school teacher, but that was before she got bitten, by the "bug for business," and all bets were off. Her reputation is for redefining quality, raising standards, being people first, and driving results in everything she does. She's here this week, to tell us all about it.

Who better to have on our podcast ahead of a Rugby World Cup than someone who is regarded as one of the best referees the sport can offer? Luke Pearce has officiated on the world stage for many years and has an onfield persona that so many people admire. In this podcast, it is very easy to see why he commands the respect he does. Affable, knowledgable, self-deprecating and honest, Luke fills the time he has with us with an insight and appreciation of the sport of rugby that very few other people have. He also leaves us with (hopefully!) two pieces of unique memorabilia for our auction. It all adds up to another incredible episode! Every once in a while, there's an advancement in technology so profound that it impacts every aspect of human life and productivity. Automotives. Airplanes. Computer processors. And now, Artificial Intelligence... AI. While AI isn't new, recent developments have vastly improved and accelerated mainstream adoption of AI capabilities and enhancements - so much so that it can be, admittedly, overwhelming to keep up and understand how it's impacting areas of importance to us, such as partnerships and influencer marketing. That's what we're covering in today's episode of Partnership Unpacked. Welcome back to Partnership Unpacked, where I selfishly use this time to pick the brains of experts at strategic partnerships, channel programs, affiliates, influencer marketing, and relationship building… oh, and you get to learn too! The pervading character, voiced by the same narrator of The Christmas Story, always remarks after each decade on how much progress they've made and how easy they have it now. Imagine what we will be saying soon about how artificial intelligence has become a part of our everyday lives - particularly when it comes to business processes like content creation, optimization and, yes, even influencer marketing and partnerships. Wondering how AI can and should be a part of your organization? That's exactly what our guest today, Jeff Fransen, is here to help us with. Affable with Pointed Teeth, by YUNGMORPHEUS and eyedress, is an album I liked quite a bit, and loved in moments for years now. But then out of nowhere, as I prepped for my recent interview with YUNGMORPHEUS himself, the album completely hit a new level for me. There is a profound beauty that comes from instances like this, where months sometimes years later, a piece of music finally clicks. Since in this moment with Affable with Pointed Teeth, not only have I discovered another great album to listen to for the rest of my life, which is something I never take for granted... ... but more importantly, it serves as a reminder that patience is everything in life. TikTok may be in trouble in the United States. Our Congress has no fewer than four pieces of legislation in motion right now that in some form or fashion could ban the use of the platform in America. Most constitutional law experts are skeptical such a ban could survive scrutiny of the courts because it's a clear violation of freedom of speech, a first-amendment right in this country. Now, I'm the last person in the world interested in talking politics. I gave up on the possibility our elected officials actually represented the public's interests in the 1990s. I keep informed so my vote still counts for something, but have zero interest in discussing or debating our dysfunctional, two-parties with all the power system. So, that's not what we're going to do on this episode of Winfluence. We're going to actually look at a real TikTok ban and imagine the implications for the what-if scenario. India banned TikTok and more than 200 other apps three years ago. It was in response to Chinese military aggression along the border between the two countries in June of 2020. The Indian government cited privacy and national sovereignty as the main issues. The move abruptly turned off the app for 200 million Indian users. Once again, that was almost three years ago. So we've had time to see how such a ban would take hold. Yes, India and the U.S. are different countries and cultures. But we're not that far apart. Surely, we can glean some insights and peer into a possible future by understanding India now versus India with TikTok. Pooja ParasuRaman is my professional counterpart at Affable.ai. It is an end-to-end influencer marketing platform. While Affable is a competitor of CIPIO.ai, technically speaking, we both have different philosophical approaches to the practice. And a common level of respect for one another. Pooja operates out of India. So she not only has first-hand experience with what the TikTok ban has done to her country, but she's working in the influencer marketing world where TikTok is for many creators, a primary source of income, and for brands engaging in influencer marketing, a fairly effective channel on which to market. I asked Pooja to join and educate us on the ban and its effects in India so we can have a peek at what might soon be our own reality in the States …or perhaps your reality in your country should a TikTok ban be in the offing. This episode of Winfluence is presented by CIPIO.ai. the community commerce marketing platform. You brands out there probably have a content problem. You need more and better performing content for paid social campaigns. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok … the ad creative that performs best is user-generated content. CIPIO.ai does two things really well. We source authentic UGC from your community of customers, fans and followers and fill those content coffers. The other thing … identify the influential people in your community and have them also post on their channels, sharing valuable word-of-mouth recommendations with their friends, family and followers. Karter Baughan of KarterKast joins us for a quick 15 minutes to discuss NCAA basketball and something a bit more specific to the ACC. Perhaps you've heard of the kerfuffle that arose from Bracketologist Joe Lunardi responding to ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips comments on college basketball this weekend? Baughan gives us a take on what he thinks is going on and if you read the story in the Lunardi link above you get a feeling the sports pundit may have walked into a field full of dairy cows without watching where he was stepping. Subscribe To ACC Nation On YouTube After dispensing with that Baughan moves on to the NCAA tournament and how he sees basketball evolving. When the 15th year COVID seniors are gone will NIL and the Transfer Portal be a good thing or a bad thing? What about conference realignment? How does he see that impacting the ACC? Craig Price IS the bogeyman, he stabbed a neighbor fifty-eight times, after breaking into her house in 1987, Craig was thirteen years old at the time. Seemingly, he got away with this vicious homicide. Two years later he'd strike again, savaging more neighbors and their children. He went on to kill Joan Heaton 39, her daughter Jennifer age 10 and Melissa age 7. He butchered this family stabbing them in excess of 126 times, between the three of them. He then picked up a kitchen stool and split Melissa's skull open, before skulking off into the night. Craig was soon a suspect as he had stabbed himself during his murderous spree. He would soon confess to the four murders. He thought he'd serve three years, until he reached the age of 18, Craig Price was wrong, thankfully he is still in prison today.Murderpedia-https://bit.ly/3LYbIK6Crimewire-https://bit.ly/40hFbTzMedium-https://bit.ly/40p5k2X

The son of a firefighter and grandson of a cattle rancher, he married his high school sweetheart. 麥卡錫代表加州的保守派飛地貝克斯菲爾德,他從十多歲就踏入政壇。 他是消防員之子、養牛場主之孫,娶了高中時代的戀人為妻。 His career has soared since he became the minority Republican leader in the California Assembly in 2003, just one year after being elected. 當選加州議員僅一年後,他在2003年成為加州議會的少數派共和黨領袖,自此他的從政之路步步高升。 Four years later, he was elected to Washington, and moved rapidly up the ladder in the House as a team player and organizer who readily bared his ambition to become party leader. 四年後,他獲選進入華盛頓國會殿堂,並作為合群的團隊成員及動員者在眾議院迅速晉升,並毫不遲疑展現成為黨魁的抱負。 Affable in the face of adversity, and a prolific fundraiser for his fellow lawmakers, McCarthy is no policy strategist or conservative ideologue. 麥卡錫在逆境中表現得和藹可親,且經常為其他議員募款,他既不是政策戰略家,也不是保守派思想家。 Instead, his rise has come from his willingness to tackle the tricky task of trying to keep his party -- which has been turned upside down by Trump -- on the rails and focused on opposing the Democrats' agenda. 相反地,他的崛起是因為他願意解決一項棘手的任務,即試圖讓他的政黨——已經被川普搞得天翻地覆——保持正常運轉,並聚焦反對民主黨的議程。 But it remains to be seen if he can charm hardline conservative dissidents. McCarthy's seeming lack of deep ideological underpinnings and his skepticism of party hardliners has made him a regular target of the Republican right, especially Trump supporters. Source article: https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/lang/archives/2023/01/10/2003792288 Powered by Firstory Hosting

While we have covered a lot about influencer marketing on this podcast, there is one facet that we haven't looked at: The cost-effectiveness of influencer marketing. As we head towards a potential recession in 2023 and marketing budgets are tight, this becomes even more important. That's why on this episode we will focus on why influencer marketing is such a great marketing investment when budgets are tight.Topics we will cover include:Why Influencer Marketing is the most flexible form of marketing investment through payment, product gifting, mentions, and moreThe value of more authentic and relatable content to spend on vs. advertising push done directly by youThe fact that during a recession, people turn toward trusted voicesInfluencers as affiliates = Measurable ROI + Massive ReachKey Highlights[02:30] Introduction of Podcast Guest, Nisarg Shah[04:30] How Nisarg Got Into Influencer Marketing[06:22] The Gaps Nisarg Found In Influencer Marketing in 2017[09:08] Influencer Marketing's Flexibility[13:25] How Influencer Marketing Can Help Brands Into Recession[19:22] Affiliate Marketing in Affable.ai Tool[22:35] The Hybrid Structure of Influencers and Affiliates[26:35] Reasons Why Third-Party Platforms Still Add Value[29:33] Best Practices in Influencer Marketing Industry[31:46] Connect with Nisarg[32:21] Affable.ai Price PointNotable QuotesThe value you get from a creator is much more. And in this in these uncertain times. Brands are definitely kind of going back to the creators they trust and the creators they have a long-standing relationship with.People typically tend to trust other people. And that's just our nature, that's word of mouth. I trust you because you talk about something. Entity pushing me a product. So just marketing works, because we trust people who are creating this content. And in these times, influencer, marketing works even better, because now, users are careful about who they trust, and they turn towards trusted advisors.I think who we trust online has really evolved. at the end of the day, this raw and real content and the people behind it, those seem to be the ones that we trust more right? Than those shiny looking, whether they're an ad or they're like a shiny looking mega celebrity influencer. Influencers are amazing affiliates because they give you both gives you an ability to reach massive, massive scale, even if people don't die, but at the same time, they give you an ability to convert. If you are a brand, and you're listening to this and planning to work with influencers, certain guidelines, but let them come up with the content, because they know what resonates with their followers, the best, and different influencers would have a different tone and message that they know works best. When the team here at First Name Basis was doing the research for our recent episode “Alcatraz: An Untold Story of Indigenous Resistance,” we came across the story of the Tammany Society — and we knew right away that story was too wild not to share! The Tammany Society — also known as the Tammany Hall or the Columbian Order — was organized in the late 1780s right alongside the founding of the United States. It was a group of white men who were influencing the politics in New York at the time and then spread out geographically from there. Their story is one rampant with cultural appropriation that directly relates to injustices and racism we still see in this country today. And to make the story even more bonkers, one of the most notable members of the society is someone who has become a household name in recent years. “Pardon me. Are you Aaron Burr, sir?” The twists, turns and wild connections in this story are something you're not going to want to miss. In this episode, we'll tell you more about: The origins of the Tammany Society. How it's creation was in response to the creation of the Society of the Cincinnati (Spoiler alert: Alexander Hamilton enters in the story here too) The Tammany Society's many instances of appropriation of Indigenous culture. A look at a specific example of the Tammany Society's appropriation that we still see today (Spoiler alert #2: It's the Atlanta Braves) Get your Voting Action Plan Whether it's for a primary election or a general election, if you‘re voting for your local school board or president of the United States, being an informed voter is crucial — and takes more effort than just skimming headlines or reading one-off articles on social media. Meaning, people were buying more and more off, scrolling through Instagram and watching YouTube.
