How can the new guard of Australian defence technology companies accelerate development of autonomous maritime capability through rapid manufacturing and AI-enabled uncrewed systems? In this special Indian Ocean Defence & Security Conference & Exhibition episode of the Defence Connect Podcast, senior journalist Robert Dougherty is joined by Hyperion Systems CEO Josh Wigley and Greenroom Robotics co-founder and chief operations officer Harry Hubbert. Hyperion and Greenroom Robotics have partnered to develop the southern hemisphere's first 3D printed uncrewed surface vessel. The craft combines rapid additive manufacturing with Australian autonomy software to deliver a scalable and adaptable maritime platform. The podcast conversation includes the following topics: Development of the southern hemisphere's first 3D printed autonomous USV. The use of sovereign Australian autonomy software for navigation and mission control. Rapid manufacturing techniques and the role of additive manufacturing in accelerating defence capability delivery. Potential operational applications including ISR, persistent surveillance, logistics support and mine warfare. Melted butter on hot toast and served up on a plate. It seems like nothing, really, could be clearer or more straight. But though, in terms of things required, the number is just two, there is a lot of wiggle room for what there is to do. Cook and author Tara Wigley had been to cookery school, read hundreds of cookbooks and developed recipes for over a decade. Yet she found the fewer the ingredients in a recipe, the more confusion there was about how best to make it. The result is HOW TO BUTTER TOAST, a collection of rhymes that will enlighten and entertain, reassure and ultimately liberate the culinarily confused. The rhymes provide reassuring - and memorable - answers to the culinary conundrums we often face: How long should I boil an egg? What's the best way to crush garlic? How do I make mayonnaise, a martini or indeed the perfect cup of tea? Tara's playful take on these food quandaries seems effortless but belies her knowledgeable and carefully researched approach to cooking. Beautifully packaged with bold and witty illustrations throughout, HOW TO BUTTER TOAST is the perfect gift for cooks of all levels.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Keeping amphibians and reptiles enriches the lives of millions of people world-wide.  According to the National Institute of Health, "Interacting with animals has been shown to decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and lower blood pressure. Other studies have found that animals can reduce loneliness, increase feelings of social support, and boost your mood." (1) In addition, it should also be noted that private hobbyists and other entities maintaining captive amphibians have contributed substantially to conservation and preservation efforts. The AZA Amphibian Husbandry Guide states that, "There are many reasons to keep amphibians in captivity including for purposes of exhibition, education, conservation, preservation, and for hobby and personal interests." (2)However, despite all the benefits to both keepers and the species they work with, there are entities out there who aim to damage and destroy the world of responsible and ethical keeping . Full out bans, white lists, and harsh legislation are becoming more and more common nowadays.  As responsible keepers, we have an obligation to educate others and to advocate for ourselves before it's too late. This week I am joined by Tony Wigley of ResponsibleReptileKeeping.org  Tony's mission with the RRK is to advocate for the reptile and amphibian hobbies by educating others and to dispel the numerous myths that perpetuate within the anti reptile and amphibian hobby narratives.
