Welcome to Passionate Life Church! Pastor Andrew continues our series on the importance of "Godly expectation". This week he addresses our lack of expectation and unanswered prayers. Welcome Home! ----------------------------------------------------- SERMON NOTES: Creating Godly Expectation part 3 The preparation to anticipation leads to Godly expectation. Four reasons why we don't expect God to do big things in our lives. 1. We complicate God. Instead of simple obedience we allow Satan's lies to complicate our faith. 2. We don't have the knowledge of who God is. God is a Father first. Psalm 103:13 NLT Matthew 6:25-30 NLT patḗr – father; one who imparts life and is committed to it. pa; nourisher, protector, upholder. Fail to uphold; to desert (abandon), especially what has already been trusted or embraced. 3. We feel we don't deserve to live in God's blessing. Romans 4:6-8 NIV When we don't believe our sins are no more, it restricts or stops us from believing for more. 4. We have prayed prayers that God did not answer. Five reasons why God might not be answering your prayers: 1. What you're asking for is not good for you and not aligned with God's will. 2. He has, but you don't like the answer. 3. God's not listening. Psalm 66:17-19 NLT 1 Peter 3:7 NLT 4. Timing Perseverance and Patience is important to us maturing in our trust in God. 5. Lack of faith James 1:5-8 NLT Psalm 34:9-11 NLT ------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for listening! 1 John 5:13 tells us this scripture is written for those who believe they share in the same nature of their Father, God. So that they can know they have eternal life. Most have been taught that this is "life" only after we lay down this garment of flesh sometime in the future. And they attribute "sonship" only to Jesus, and not themselves. Well this was written for you so you may know you share in the same nature and quality of God right now! Here is a question for you. If God wanted to do anything for someone or create a change, how does God do it? The Kingdom of God does not come with anything observable. So, change doesn't come from what we can experience with our physical senses. God simply decides what He would like to change or make happen and it becomes. He seemingly creates "something" from "nothing." As a son of God, you share in the nature of your Father, which is God. The scriptures were written so you may know you have eternal life right now. Which means they were written so you can know and experience the quality of God's life now as a present possession. I am searching for people who are absolutely passionate about each of the 12 Steps and come from any and all fellowships of recovery who would like to share with us their experience, strength, and hope on one of the Steps. Mid day word of GOD Creating the house for God
A two part sermon on Creation. The second part will follow in the evening service
In this episode, the hosts, Mike, Shauna, and Jeremy discuss the implications of both spiritual and physical exercise - how it can reveal and expose what an individual is worshiping. They discuss a biblical perspective towards exercise; all exercise is to glorify God, it reveals what a person values and treasures, and draws attention to deceitful desires and what they can produce. Lastly, they discuss the physical and emotional benefits of exercising. - Exercise - excerpt from the monthly (August) EquipU piece: - Exercise has wonderful potential to positively impact one’s mental state in various ways. It is also important to note that while not emphasized in Western culture, exercise at root, is a spiritual activity. It is a spiritual activity because one’s motives for doing anything, including exercise, are ultimately anchored in what an individual is worshipping. - 1 Cor. 10:31 - "Whatever you do" "do all" "to the glory of God" - Creating a purpose statement - placing God at the center of why you do a particular activity/exercise, etc. - Gal. 5:16-17 - competing desires - Matt. 6:21 - what does the person value - Eph. 4:22-24 - deceitful desires and what they can produce - The physical and emotional benefits of exercising - Endorphin release - improving sleep quality, mood, and cognitive function - Neurotropic release - learning ability - Adrenal functioning - improving mod, and ability to cope with stress - Habituation

In the beginning, the intention of God was to create man as His masterpiece, the crowning glory of His creation. But God could not create man in the waste land of chaos and darkness that was prevailing. If He did, man wouldn’t be able to achieve all that God wanted him to achieve. Therefore, God had to create a new reality. Listen as Pastor Agu shares on how to change one’s reality. For more info, visit Jesus House UK on www.jesushouse.org.uk and follow us @Jesushouseuk

What does it mean that humans are created in the image of God? In this episode, the guys discuss the biblical theme of the image of God and its implications for Jesus followers. As humans, we bear the image of God, but what is the purpose of this for us––what is the purpose for God? Creating images of gods was a fairly familiar concept in the ancient world, but representing the image of God, not through a statue or idol but through your very being, has profound significance. In the first part of the episode (01:31-13:58), the guys talk about Genesis 1. This passage tells us that humans were created in God’s image and then given the task to rule over creation. Compared to the Babylonian creation myth, the biblical story of creation gives a worldview and social order that is pretty unique. In the second part of the episode (14:14-26:10), Tim and Jon talk about the purpose behind God creating humans in his image. After God creates Adam and Eve, he tasks them with subduing creation? What does this mean? How should we be “subduing” God’s creation? In the final part of the episode (26:26-44:50), the guys talk about the ancient context of creating images of gods. What were images of gods in the ancient world? Statues or idols were viewed as a special connection to the god they represented. This is true of humans too. Humans are the realization of God’s presence––his temple on earth. God’s rule here on earth is not through elite kings, it is through humans multiplying, gardening, and making neighborhoods.
