Las esperadas obras de conservación de la popular Subida Ecuador de Valparaíso comenzaron esta semana con trabajos focalizados en las calzadas, para luego avanzar por tramos en los mejoramientos que van desde la calle Guillermo Rivera hasta la Avenida Alemania en el cerro Cárcel. Ello con el objetivo de mitigar el impacto propio de la obra a los vecinos, locatarios y transeúntes. Se trata de una intervención que contempla la conservación en pavimentos, calzadas, evacuación de aguas lluvias, luminarias LED, mobiliario, jardineras y alcorques que se encuentran en mal estado, provocado principalmente por el uso, la falta de mantención y el clima. Se suma además la incorporación de barandas peatonales, defensas vehiculares, señalética, demarcación, paraderos, bolardos, muretes y limpieza de sumideros. Sobre la inversión y la longitud que contempla este proyecto, el seremi MINVU, Felipe Vergara, detalló que “sabemos que esta es una avenida concurrida que une a otros cerros con el casco histórico de Valparaíso, es decir, fomenta el turismo, la actividad económica y la cotidianidad de los vecinos del día a día. Hoy esta arteria tiene su asfalto destruido, en donde los vehículos tienen que avanzar con cuidado dificultando el acceso de vehículos de emergencia a hacia los cerros de manera expedita, situación que será revertida, ya que hemos comenzado con la ejecución de las obras de conservación que transformará la subida Ecuador en una calle de alto estándar como debe ser. Estamos hablando de una inversión de más de $617 millones por parte del MINVU que están destinados para 1,5 kilómetros de esta concurrida calle de Valparaíso”. Destacando la importancia de la obra para el tránsito peatonal y vehicular, el director regional de SERVIU, Tomás Ochoa, señaló que “vamos a mejorar la circulación en una arteria que hace años no es sujeta a reparaciones y que los vecinos esperan por años. Con los trabajos le daremos vida y seguridad a este sector tan concurrido por la actividad comercial y nocturna. Y como sabemos que por la pandemia los locatarios no lo han pasado nada bien, vamos a realizar los trabajos de manera parcial por tramos. Es así, que estamos ejecutando diversas obras en el plan de Valparaíso con una millonaria inversión que supera los $20 mil millones, como en Barrio Puerto, Plaza Victoria, El Almendral, Avenida Argentina, Parque Barón, entre otras, que están en la cartera del 2022 del presupuesto SERVIU, por ende, esperamos que pronto se empiecen a notar estos proyectos que van en directo beneficio de la comunidad porteña”. Contentos con las obras, la presidenta de Eje Ecuador y de la Junta de Vecinos n° 70 del Cerro La Loma, Delia Soto, en representación de la comunidad indicó que “es un anhelo que teníamos desde hace años, porque Ecuador está realmente en muy mal estado, hay hoyos sobre hoyos y por seguridad necesitábamos estos arreglos. Esta es una vía de evacuación donde sube y baja mucho vehículo de emergencia y locomoción, pues esta arteria une 11 cerros por lo que debe estar en buen estado. Estamos agradecidos de que se hayan concretado los trabajos”. Con optimismo afirmó Boris Kúleba, secretario del Eje Ecuador, el comienzo de los trabajos de mejoramiento, ya que “primera vez que vemos algo concreto. Nosotros llevábamos del 2017 y 2018 pidiendo que se solucione el problema de subida Ecuador por el estado de la calle que es intransitable no solamente para los autos sino también por las veredas. Entonces, desde el momento que se anunció esta licitación, hasta ahora que se concretan las obras, veÍamos con cierto escepticismo, pero que ahora estamos viendo con mucho más esperanza. Confiamos que por fin se va a mejorar.
