We're back with the last 16 of USA 94.  Klinsmann and Voller come up with the old magic as Germany find their touch.  Spain produce a performance that suggests they might finally be ready to end their decades of underachievement (yeah right).  Sweden's Three Amigos – Brolin, Dahlin, Andersson – end Saudi Arabia's dream run.  Romania and Argentina produce a match for the ages.  Packie Bonner's butter fingers end Ireland's hopes of a second successive quarter-final.  Independence Day is memorable in more ways than one as Team USA face the might of Brazil. Roberto Baggio's divine intervention finally kickstarts Italy's campaign.  Bulgaria break new ground as Mexico break the goal frame.  Hanging over the last 16 is the brutal murder of Andres Escobar and arguments over refereeing standards, as some games are plagued by controversial decisions, with FIFA giving several referees their marching orders.   Subscribe to World Cup Rambling on your podcast platform.  TWITTER/X @MatthewOkot @WorldCupRamble

It's 30 years since the murder of Colombian footballer, Andres Escobar. Just days before his fatal shooting, Escobar had scored an own goal for Colombia at the 1994 World Cup.He had been blamed for his country's early exit from the tournament and many linked his death directly to his mistake on the pitch. Matt Pintus has been through the BBC World Service archive, listening to interviews with the Colombian journalist Luis Fernando Restrepo, a friend of Escobar's who saw him on the night he was killed.(Photo: Andres Escobar playing for Colombia. Reviews are a way to take your business to next level! Do you agree? Not only this they benefit businesses in multiple ways. Positive reviews are a great way to gain potential consumers' trust and credibility. Customers are more likely to make a purchase from a company that has received favorable feedback. Having positive reviews posted online can boost a company's visibility in search engine results. When assessing a business's rating, search engines like Google consider both the number and quality of reviews available for that firm. Positivity in customer feedback can boost business. Customers are influenced to buy more by reviews they read, especially those that are positive. In sum, reviews are an integral aspect of a company's online identity and can significantly affect its performance. In today's episode, we welcome Reviewbiz's Andres Escobar for part two of our conversation. While part one focused on Andres's software Reviewbiz.io, this week is all about Salesmsg, the two-way texting tool to convert leads from warm to hot. What is Salesmsg? Salesmsg is the two-way text messaging platform ideal for businesses that want to increase their conversion of warm leads. How does it do that? By automating reach-out to warm leads through SMS messaging. Targeted to people who run their own sales team (and especially those team leaders who digitally generate leads), Salesmsg offers an instant communication line to a warm lead that starts building the relationship that later leads to a sale. Sales Msg offers greater usability than other SMS companies. The big perk of working with Salesmsg is integrations - think of it as a WhatsApp that can integrate with Zapier, HubSpot, and other CRM platforms like Active Campaign. With an app available through both desktop and mobile, users can directly see what conversations were started through Salesmsg and offer a place to communicate and follow up with leads instantly. Want to get started with Sales Msg for your business? The platform offers a $1 trial for 14 days, giving you a full-feature version of the platform to create a maximum of 25 texts. This gives you the perfect opportunity to see how Salesmsg can impact your lead conversion efforts. After all, anyone can generate leads. But the tricky part is converting those leads to sales. And that's exactly what Salesmsg can help accomplish. Andres's tips for using Sales Msg? Don't just promote yourself. The lead opted in to the service for a reason - use the opportunity to connect with them! Engagement can change a lead from warm to hot - keep them engaged. Today's episode of Changing features Andres Escobar as he shares his journey that led him both away and back to Christ.   Andres grew up in faith. However, he struggled to fit in with those around him while maintaining his faith.    When he reached high school, he was determined to fit in with those around him. He turned to drugs, porn, and other vices that led him away from God.   Andres liked how these vices made him feel. He didn't want to address the consequences associated with his actions. But he knew his current path wasn't fulfilling, and he was living without purpose.   What changed?   At his lowest point in 2009, Andres had an emotional love affair. His wife, however, was able to forgive him, thinking, “if Jesus can forgive, so can I.” Her forgiveness inspired Andres and allowed him to develop his own relationship with Christ after seeing her strength. While his relationship with Christ was growing, Andres was still unable to give up porn.  How did Andres surrender his vice?   At a church retreat in November of 2018, Andres found the right path. In a retreat activity, each attendee wrote something they wanted to surrender to God. Different people then threw one another's struggles onto a fire. Andres chose porn.   Shortly after the retreat, he got fired from his job. Andres realized that fruit doesn't grow in the mountains, but in the valleys - God was leading him on this path for a reason.   He met a man at a business conference, and that man eventually offered Andres his next job. That same man even credits Andres for leading him on his own path to God.   Now, Andres and his family live through Christ and live by the message “We must preach the gospel, and when necessary, use words.” - St. Francis.   Andres's advice for someone starting a relationship with God? Find a few people with whom you connect, and do life with them. Be accountable for one another in your relationships with God, and be yourself.   Check out Andres's business reviewbiz.io, and reach out to him via reviewbiz.io's Instagram.

On today's episode of MORE, we're joined by the founder of reviewbiz.io, Andres Escobar. Andres created this marketing and sales tool to help companies generate authentic reviews for their business, and we're thrilled he joined us to share his platform. How did Andres Create reviewbiz.io, and what does it do? A friend of his introduced him to marketing and review platforms. Andres asked himself, “how can I do this better?” and launched his company. He attributes his friend and mentor Chris Brisson from Salesmsg for guiding Andres through his company's development. Reviewbiz.io generates the only thing better than word-of-mouth marketing: digital word-of-mouth marketing. His company reaches out to a client's current customer list via text and email and prompts them to complete a review. What makes his company different from every other review company? Reviewbiz doesn't just push people to complete a Facebook or Google review (platforms an audience might not have.) Instead, they offer multiple methods to generate a higher return. Reviewbiz also provides clean water to a family for an entire year upon completing a review, which gives people an opportunity to give back. There are methods to using reviews and testimonials properly. Reviews provide crucial information about a business's perception. They reveal problems an owner might not be aware of, like a mean receptionist or broken equipment. You can use reviews to supplement your entire digital footprint. Think about incorporating them on your website, social media, and even email campaigns. People buy from businesses they like, know, and trust. Reviews help bridge that gap. A big perk of Reviewbiz is that it provides easy integration with CRMs like Salesforce, Mailchimp, and Hubspot. They also offer integration with Quickbooks and other platforms to help incorporate review information across your business. Reviewbiz offers a free 14-day trial, so you can see firsthand if the platform is right for you. Demo bookings are also available on the website. What's next for them? They plan to create software that allows customers to create video reviews.  Recommendations by Andres: Check Google My Business for any business owners out there; you'll be able to discover a ton of interesting information. Andres Escobar was a quality international footballer. He had won domestic silverware and was now part of a promising Colombian national team who were heading for the World Cup Finals in the USA ranked fourth in the world. Even the Brazilian legend Pele tipped them as favourites. Under the pressure of huge expectations the Columbians underperformed and Escobar scored an own goal against the USA. The goal proved fatal to Columbia's chances of qualification and deadly to Escobar who was assassinated on his return to his home country. This is the story of Andres Escobar. Hosted on Acast. It's July 4 2014 and national team defender Mario Yepes has just scored a goal against Brazil in the stadium in Fortaleza. Had the goal stood, Brazil, the hosts would have gone out, alas no, the goal was wrongly disallowed and Colombia were sent home in the Quarter Finals, their best ever showing. With historian Miguel Cuadros, we reflect on this momentous occasion in Colombia's footballing history, an event which brought - despite the undesirable loss - the joy back into the beautiful game for Colombia. The murder of Andres Escobar was pushed back as a distant memory and James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao showed what the cafeteros were capable of. On a political level, would a victory against Brazil have led to national euphoria and a change in the Colombian mentality and psyche. Anything could have been possible? Would people have taken to the peace accords differently, would they have had a positivity about the country? It's worth considering. Tune in for a fascinating discussion on what could have been...

Á 10. áratugnum setti eiturlyfjabaróninn Pablo Escobar miklar fjárhæðir í fótboltann og lét byggja knattspyrnuvelli víða um Kólumbíu, einna helst í Medellín. Það leiddi til þess að mikill uppgangur varð í boltanum og komst Kólumbía á þrjú stórmót í röð eftir langa bið. Escobar hafði mikinn áhuga á íþróttinni og notaði völd sín óspart í eigin hag. Í Kólumbíu sameinaði fótbolti þjóðina á þrotatímum og gaf þeim von sem skjótt breyttist í sorg. Þá olli sterkt lið Kólumbíu miklum vonbrigðum á HM 1994, meðal annars með því að tapa á móti heimamönnum í Bandaríkjunum þar sem varnarmaðurinn Andres Escobar skoraði frægt sjálfsmark.
