What are the 4Qs? (1) Three favorite films. (2) An underrated film. (3) An overrated film. (4) A lesser-known film people should seek out. Jared Hall is the epitome of an artist and he proved this when his beautiful short film, Anansi the Spider, played at Film Invasion Los Angeles in 2024 and took home the Filmmakers Award for Outstanding Short Film - Animation and for Outstanding Cast Performance Animation. I hope you get as much inspiration listening to our talk as I did partaking. I couldn't wait to get to what inspires Jared with his 4 Questions. Happy Talk with a Filmmaker Friday! I normally refer to people as filmmakers, but when I think about Jared Hall the word that actually comes to my mind is, “artist.” Jared is an animator, filmmaker, and illustrator, but what unifies all of his talents is that he's an artist. There you go... Artist! Jared's short film, Anansi the Spider, played at Film Invasion Los Angeles in 2024 and took home the Filmmakers Award for Outstanding Short Film - Animation and for Outstanding Cast Performance Animation. This film is beautiful and it was difficult for me to not make that word in all caps. And it's fun! And it's cool! Honestly, Anansi the Spider is one of those films I feel comfortable stealing a line from a childhood friend, “It's okay if you don't like it, but if you don't like it then I don't like you.” If you want to learn more about Jared, go to @thatishall (https://www.instagram.com/thatishall/) or his website at https://thatishall.myportfolio.com _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Discover Indie Film Links DIF Podcast Website - DIF Instagram - DIF BlueSky Discover Indie Film Foundation (nonprofit for the arts) Website Sherman Oaks Film Festival Film Invasion Los Angeles

It's been a busy week here at Ardenfell HQ, so we are playing a re-rerun this week. (Hey, if those greedy striking writers at the WGA can do it, so can we.) New episodes should be back next week! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this re-airing of a very special LIVE episode we did back in January. Speaking of LIVE shows, we hope to do more! There's a festival in late August we're shooting for -- more details on that soon. Be well! ******************************************** It's a very special LIVE episode of The Corporation, recorded in front of a small but mighty audience at Vermont Comedy Club! Dean is joined first by Teddy Burnbridge, who reflects on teaching schoolchildren about our great meritocracy by performing his autobiographical play for them. Then, Annette Gelby talks about what it takes to turn shuttered women's health clinics into businesses that are a little more, shall we say, “baby-positive.” ABOUT THE PERFORMERS Jared Hall (Teddy Burnbridge) is a standup comedian, improviser and writer based in Burlington, VT. He was the 2022 winner of the Vermont's Funniest Comedian contest, and produces the regular shows “Weird & Niche” at Vermont Comedy Club and “Free Stuff” at Lincoln's. Natalie Miller (Annette Gelby) is an improviser, teacher and the co-owner of Vermont Comedy Club. She performs monthly on the team “Kingdom Kids” at VCC and at festivals and theaters throughout the country. Nathan Hartswick (Dean Ardenfell) is a comedy performer, teacher, and the co-owner of Vermont Comedy Club in Burlington, VT. ABOUT THE PODCAST The Corporation is a podcast hosted by Dean Ardenfell (Nathan Hartswick), a superfan of the global corporation “Hogswood Cooper Media.” Each episode, Dean interviews folks who work for the many different subsidiaries of Hogswood Cooper.* * This podcast is improvised satire, “Hogswood Cooper Media” is fictitious, and the "employees" are comedians. Hop on a boat to international waters and leave your watches and clocks at the door cuz no matter where we are in the day, we know that it's Morbin' Time! Morbius AKA "What We DON'T in the Shadows" is the hellish Marvel-adjacent being toted today and joining your two favorite barely living bloodsacks Maisie and Tim this week is longtime Morb-head, watcher of every film, and recently crowned Vermont's Funniest Comedian 2022: Jared Hall! And if you think that's the only Jared being dragged out of hell to bless this timeline, you've got another two coming! Jared Leto! Jared Harris! Jared... from Subway? Nope! Only one man with (alleged) horrible behavior towards children allowed in this Morbfest! So grab a drink (blood), grab a snack (blood again), and sit and listen to three people talk about this abject failure of cinema because what else is going on but an endless slog of crude oil being force fed to us via tubes manufactured by children thanks to Amazon. MORB!

It's Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK (May 10th - 16th 2021) and I thought it would be a great time to speak about the mental health struggles of both current and former Jehovah's Witnesses and I've invited two guests onto the channel to help me do this. Jared Hall I'm joined by Jared Hall, a former Jehovah's Witness and a counselling and psychotherapy University student. Jared has recently become involved with the SAPUK organisation, which allows people to talk about their experiences with suicide. Jared is very passionate about good mental health and love for people. One thing Jared feels is so important is to speak to yourself internally as you would speak to someone you love, that is the start to self-love. Debbie Edwards I'm also joined by Debbie Edwards, a former Jehovah's Witness and CP/CAB Certified Counsellor who recently joined the Samaritans to lend counselling support in this peri-post pandemic world. Debbie has been a guest on the channel before where she told her experience of leaving the JW "religion" and subsequently waking up from her indoctrination. Debbie is very active in the ExJW community and is keen to help use her own experiences and her professional training to help all those who are struggling to overcome their cult experience.
