Kalex Willzy is a radio presenter and content creator from London. When he's not busy with music and radio, he's making people laugh with his relatable type 1 diabetes Reels on Instagram, putting a humourous spotlight on the more ridiculous moments that living with type 1 diabetes brings.Diagnosed at the age of 23 in 2016, he describes himself as a 'lone ranger' when it comes to figuring out life with type 1 diabetes. After a less than informative diagnosis experience, he's always relied on himself to navigate the literal ups and downs of the condition. From food anxiety to fitness, to the responsibility of educating his family and navigating dates, Kalex covers it all in this episode that has some beautifully poignant moments as well as a healthy dose of realness - and of course, a generous dose of laughter. Kalex created his account @typewondiabetes after giving a talk on the condition and realising there was something missing from the online space. He's since made a virtue out of being what he describes as 'the odd one out', and helped thousands of people laugh along the way.
A special occasion for MotoGP as Le Mans came down with a record weekend attendance of 278,000 to witness the 1,000th MotoGP race. And with it, we saw another dominant weekend from the VR46 Academy's own, Marco Bezzecchi, who survived the chaos around him as Championship Leader Francesco Bagnaia crashed into the Aprilia of Maverick Vinales, and teammate Luca Marini and Alex Marquez collided at the Dunlop Chicane. Through it all, he dominated and we ask... "Why Not Bez?" We also talk deeply on the return of Marc Marquez, and once again, the man is box office. He almost sent his new Kalex chassis to the moon in practise, but it survived, he qualified 2nd, finished 5th in the Sprint and then was challenging Jorge Martin for second until an unfortunate crash with just a lap and a half to go split the room on the man's approach. Has he got it right? Is Kalex giving the Honda camp hope? And we also talk some of our favourite MotoGP Memories as the sport celebrates 1,000 GP's. All that and more on Imola's F1 Cancellation, on a new Motorsport101!

It's the final episode of Season Preview Season here on Motorsport101, and with MotoGP back in Portimao to kick off their 2023 season on Sunday, Dre and Cam sit down for a feature-length deep dive on the state of the sport heading into the new year. Now, we're going to be honest here, things look a little bleak. Ducati are set to dominate with eight bikes, a GP23 that broke Portimao's lap record in testing, and and a super-team with Enea Bastianini joining from Gresini. Can anyone stop them? Especially when their 7th best rider in their ranks is... Alex Marquez? Honda gets featured heavily at the start, as they're throwing EVERYTHING at the wall to keep Marc Marquez happy, including brining in Suzuki's former head of development, and outsourcing an entire chassis to Moto2 kings Kalex. A last roll of the dice to keep the legend happy? What about Aprilia? ALL the aero onboard with Aleix Espargaro already going under the knife with a fibrosis diagnosis, and now a second team with RNF, Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira joining. Can they stay at the front in a post-concession world? What about a revamped KTM? Jack Miller joins Brad Binder, and Pol Espargaro returning home after a horror stint with Honda. Is this really worth all the talent squandered, and can they develop their way into serious contenders of being just a flash in the pan? Yamaha are also all by themselves now, and Fabio Quartararo looks set to be their own challenger. Can be bounce back after the biggest title choke in the sport's history. And is there any hope for Franco Morbidelli? This and so much more in a feature-length season preview on Motorsport101!

In this week's episode, co-hosts Sami & Dobie go across the globe to meet with Kalex, a type 1 diabetic from London, UK. Kalex sheds some light on what life is like dealing with diabetes in London and the healthcare system there. Diagnosed in his mid twenties, Kalex had to shift his lifestyle and relationships to ones that encourage the prioritization of dealing with this chronic disease. For Kalex, this meant limiting take out meals to only 1-2 times per week instead of every meal. AND if you're listening in the UK, it's called ‘takeaway' not ‘take out'. Another educational moment for Sami and Dobie, to say the least. C'est la vie, baby!Question of the Pod: What is the healthcare system like in your country?Share it with us at:Instagram: @justmytypepod_Twitter: @justmytypepod_Tik Tok: @justmytypepod_Facebook: @justmytypepodHashtag: #justmytypepodThis episode of Just My Type is sponsored by The Diabetes App: a community platform for individuals living with all types of diabetes. For more information and to listen to more episodes check out our website:www.justmytypepodcast.comDisclaimerNothing expressed on the Just My Type podcast or on the Just My Type website is intended or should be interpreted or used as medical advice. Kara has returned from the Phantom Zone. It is a place where despair reigns supreme and time doesn't advance. Lena designed a yellow sun bomb to reinvigorate her best friend and break her out of that dark, hopeless place. Supergirl is home but the Phantom Zone still haunts her. Alex will not leave her side. They are stronger together. As an unstoppable force they will take on whatever National City has to face next. Andrea is irritated that Kara did not come back to work with a big story. Catco is falling behind the other news outlets and Ms. Rojas is desperate to get back on top. As Acrata she uses her shadow power to get a lead on Supergirl. If she can report on not only the Maid of Steel but her team as well that could put Catco back in the top spot. The Superfriends would be a great cover story. Kara has always been able to talk to Supergirl so Andrea puts her on the case. When Kara reads about the phantoms her team had to deal with in her absence her blood runs cold. Uncle Archie aka Zor-El is adjusting to life under a yellow sun. He is interested in learning what his daughter has been doing here on Earth. He flies with her to put out a garbage fire before it can become an ecological disaster. Zor-El is concerned because death of the oceans is what spelled doom for Krypton. Kara shows her father the fortress. That is where he develops an idea to modify Kalex to dispose of trash in a nontoxic way. The plan seems successful at first. Then the power core in the droid malfunctions causing the trash to not disappear but pile onto itself. This causes a giant being made of rubbish to form and threaten the city. The team must work together using their various strengths to vanquish “Bad Trash”. Zor-El decides it is time to head to Argo City to face Allura. Lena wants to go home and explore her roots on her mother's side. Kara and Alex return to the couch for some dinner and some wine. Alex reiterates to Kara that she will be with her every step of the way as she deals with the trauma caused by the Phantom Zone. Stronger together! Always and forever! This is the strength they will draw on as Nia is awakened by a dream of Nyxly. A maiden sure to cause some mischief as our story continues…

In this episode, I speak to Kalex, Kylene and Lauren. All three are black and living with type 1 diabetes. The backdrop to this episode is where we find ourselves in the world at the time of recording. This episode was recorded towards the end of June 2020. George Floyd's death in May 2020 shocked the world and highlighted the problems back people face with systematic and institutional racism in all areas of society. This includes the education system to the workplace and in healthcare environments. Growing up I always wondered if my experiences as a black person living with type 1 diabetes was just limited to me but I never spoke to others in my position. I'm not 24 years into my type 1 journey and a member of the diabetes community which has allowed me to have this conversation. This episode isn't just about me fulfilling a childhood dream this episode is so much more. This episode is four black people living with type 1 diabetes and sharing our experiences. There are both shared and unique experiences amongst the four of us. All my guests were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as adults which came with its own challenges which we discuss in our chat. We also talk about health discussions within the black culture and experiences within the health care system as a black person. Our conversation then leads to the diabetes community where we discuss diversity within the diabetes community and we talk about what it is like for us as black people in today's society. I appreciate Kalex, Kylene and Lauren sharing their experiences.
