Is Toprak's WorldSBK title the most unexpected in the history of the series? Steve and Gordo look back at the final round of the 2024 campaign and Toprak Razgalioglu's confirmation as the Superbike World Champion for the second time. The Turkish rider is now unquestionably the best rider on the grid but what makes him special? We grabbed Phil Marron and Kenan Sofuglu to talk about when they believed they could win the title and the mentality of Toprak. Kenan's insight is very interesting as he talks about positivity rather than aggression being the key to winning in motorcycle racing. Steve also reminds Gordo of what we expected from Toprak back in January when they went to the the Spanish venue for pre-season testing. With Nicolo Bulega winning two races and Alvaro Bautista suffering another crash the future of Ducati is also a talking point. Who's the team leader for the red bikes in 2025? Alex Lowes' successful campaign is discussed as is the toughest season of Jonathan Rea's career. The show wraps up with title talk in WorldSSP, WorldSSP300 and the WorldWCR series
To tell the stories of Syrians living in the world's largest refugee camp, Karen Fisher collected their recipes. For Kim-Joy, one of The Great British Bake Off's most memorable contestants, baking isn't just about flavor or cuteness — it's also about mental health. Julie Guthman critiques tech entrepreneurs whose proposed food system "fixes" ignore the underlying problems they claim to address. Alvaro Bautista recovers more than half of his date harvest, which perished in last year's rain, while Companion, a new restaurant in Venice, opens with a Quarter Sheets alum.

Toprak Razgatlioglu made his return to WorldSBK, Alvaro Bautista returned to form and Andrea Iannone returned to winning ways at the Aragon Round of WorldSBK. It was an incredible weekend where everywhere you turned there was another storyline to follow.

This episode of the Paddock Pass Podcast was recording in the media centre of Motorland Aragon. With riders running past en-route to their media duties we grabbed five minutes with Danilo Petrucci to talk about his stunning weekend at Cremona, Alvaro Bautista gave us the latest on his rib injuries and Adrian Huertas talked to us about moving to the MotoGP paddock. The return of Toprak Razgatlioglu is the biggest talking in the paddock and we've got the Turkish superstar on the pod to get you up to date on his condition and how he feels ahead of this weekend. It's a break from the norm for our Superbike shows but Steve and Gordo get you all the latest news from WorldSBK!

Back to back rounds create a unique challenge. Co-ordinating recording is always a difficult task as we travel from one country to the next but for our review of the Cremona WorldSBK Round we decided to wait until we were assembled in Motorland Aragon. An added benefit of this is that we can recap the Italian action and grab five minutes with the riders as they go about their Thursday media duties. Danilo Petrucci was the star of the show at Round 9 and the Barni Ducati rider joins us to talk about winning, how his style of riding evolved from childhood and what it meant to win again after his training crash in April. He wasn't the only Ducati rider to appear as we grabbed Alvaro Bautista to talk about his Superpole struggles and whether he can still be a title contender. Adrian Huertas also stopped by to give us his thoughts on moving to Moto2 in 2025. The return of Toprak Razgatlioglu is the biggest story in Aragon and we couldn't record without getting ten minutes with the Superbike Superstar. After initially being rebuffed by BMW Toprak sat down with Steve and Gordo for ten minutes to talk about his injury, the frustrations of watching from home and his excitement of getting back to work!

The French Round of WorldSBK saw Toprak Razgatlioglu, Alvaro Bautista and Jonathan Rea all ruled out through injury. What lessons can be learned from Toprak's crash and what can we expect from upcoming rounds of WorldSBK. On track there was a popular winner with Michael van der Mark putting his pains of multiple injuries behind him to win again before Nicolo Bulega enjoyed a perfect Sunday. Is the Italian actually a title threat for Toprak now? Steve, Gordo and Ivo debate the merits of a title battle while also looking at the improved fortunes of Honda and the rider market moves being made in the Superbike Paddock.

The tenth round of the Superbike World Championship saw a Sunday double for Alvaro Bautista but a crash in the opening race of the weekend made for interesting talking points. On today's pod we are joined by Paul Denning to talk about Jonathan Rea's move to Yamaha and we also have a special Renthal Street Session with Pere Riba, crew chief to Rea at Kawasaki
On today's Paddock Pass Podcast Steve and Gordo look back at the UK Round of the 2023 Superbike World Championship. We're joined on the show by the reigning WorldSBK champion Alvaro Bautista with the Ducati star giving us his thoughts on his recent MotoGP test as well as the lie of the land in WorldSBK

Welcome to Episode 17 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are back with another roundup of motorsport events from the past week! We had quite a few events this weekend, from WEC in Croatia, BTCC in Donington Park, Formula E in Berlin. We've had a reshuffle in the Mercedes F1 garage, plus Silverstone are changing turn 1 after last year's crash with Zhou Guanyu. World Rally Championship of course had a cloud after the passing of Craig Breen in Croatia. Winners Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin paid tribute to the former driver. There was controversy as a co driver had hit seatbelt stuck under his HANS device. The British Touring cars were racing at a very wet Donington Park! After several clashes, and with some comparisons to Formula 1 driver, Max Verstappen, Ash Sutton took the win, followed by Daniel Rowbottom in 2nd place and Dan Cammish in 3rd place. Berlin saw the Formula E racing this weekend. We had climate activists at the race on Sunday, which was rather ironic, but the win went to Nick Cassidy of Envision Racing, whilst second place went to Jake Dennis and 3rd to Jean-Eric Vergne. The World Fanatec GT Challenge took place at Monaco, with a fantastic grid made up of lots of different cars. World Superbikes were in Holland, with Alvaro Bautista winning all three races, Toprak Razgatlioglu and Jonathan Rea all continuing to dominate the season, but why is this? SuperFormula Japan was at Suzuka and NASCAR was at Talledega! Kyle Busch took the win, with Ryan Blaney pushing Bubba Wallace out of the way for 2nd place. We have a very hectic weekend ahead of us, with the first sprint race in Formula 1 2023 happening in Azerbaijan. Indycar are back racing at Birmingham road course. WEC are racing at Spa Francorchamps. MotoGP is also back in Spain, whilst the British Superbikes at Oulton Park and Aussie Supercars, and even the first weekend of the Formula 1 Academy at the Red Bull Ring! What will you be watching? Let us know in the comments!

2023 sees both Pecco Bagnaia and Alvaro Bautista running No. 1 on their MotoGP and World Superbike Ducati machines. In MotoGP, it's the first time the famous single digit has appeared on a bike for over ten years. With this in mind, should organisers make it mandatory for the top rider to use the lowest number? Alvaro Bautista was sublime on his quest to the 2022 World Superbike title. However, some cried foul and said the Spaniard had an unfair weight advantage. A case of sour grapes or is there some truth in it? Greg chats with aerospace engineer turned bike racing man Nico Sartori who gives in-depth analysis of whether he feels a minimum combined rider/bike weight limit is necessary. Welcome to the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast. Our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us a motorsport roundup with events from around the World! This week, we cover the Formula 1 finale in Abu Dhabi, plus F2 and news from the FIA! We kick off things with the Formula 1 race at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, which was a bit of a dull race, having already announced the Formula 1 Champion with Max Verstappen dominating the season. How can Abu Dhabi be more exciting? The battle for 2nd in the driver's championship was a tough one between Charles LeClerc and Sergio Perez though, with LeClerc beating the Red Bull driver. We of course have the retirement of Sebastian Vettel, whereas Pierre Gasly is moving to Alpine, with Alonso moving to Aston Martin Racing. The finale to the Formula 2 season was an exciting one too, as Logan Sargeant gets the final seat in F2 for Williams in the 2023 season. Elsewhere, Tiff has been making headlines following some Tweets he posted about Sergio Perez and comments from Max Verstappen's Mum! There's also news from the FIA on potentially starting a new, Women's driver's championship in a Gen 2 Formula Four Series. The World Superbikes Championship also came to an end at Phillip Island, crowning Alvaro Bautista as Champion for 2022. Next week, we have Extreme E in Uruguay, and have announced a raced in Scotland in May next year!
Lo consiguió: Álvaro Bautista es Campeón del Mundo de Superbikes 2022 con Ducati. Welcome to this week's episode of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are here to bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week. We've had an exciting weekend, with Formula 1, World Endurance Championships, WRC and British Superbikes! But first, we pay our respects to Simon Arron, a motorsport journalist who sadly passed away last week. Formula 1 was in Sao Paolo, Brazil this week, with a fantastic story for Mercedes driver and Winner, George Russell who took his first Grand Prix Win this weekend. The weekend was full of firsts as Haas driver, Kevin Magnussen took pole position in qualifying. We had many controversies during the race too. Starting with the incident between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen during the race restart. Who was at fault? We had controversy between Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso. The Alpine team told Ocon to allow Alonso to overtake as Alonso was on fresher tyres. Ocon refused to do so as he was trying to overtake Sebastian Vettel in the Aston Martin. Let's not forget the Red Bull team incident, where Verstappen wouldn't allow Perez past despite another team order! We have the final race of 2022 coming up in Abu Dhabi. It's already clear who the Winner of the driver's championship is, but who will come 2nd? Tiff finally spills the beans where he was filming last week, as he was filming an item with BBC's Top Gear, with Chris Harris, Paddy McGuinness and Freddy Flintoff! The final round of the World Endurance Championship took place in Bahrain this weekend. The Championship concluded with a final Toyota 1-2 win, with Alpine behind them in 3rd, just 2 laps behind the leaders. We had a dramatic rally in Japan for WRC, with a win for Hyundai on the tarmac with Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe. Indonesia saw the penultimate round of the World Superbikes. Alvaro Bautista took three wins and the overall Championship win with a round to spare, with Turkish rider, Toprak Razgatlioglu taking 2nd and British rider, Jonathan Rea in 3rd place. Next weekend, we have the Phillip Island round of the World Superbikes, plus the final round of Formula 1 in Abu Dhabi.

Steve English, Gordon Ritchie, and Charlie Hiscott are on the mics for this episode, as they discuss the WorldSBK round in Argentina. Topics include the special case of Ducati...and Alvaro Bautista; whether there should be more down for performance balancing; and the overall state and health of the SBK Championship. Ducati rider Michael Ruben Rinaldi also joins us on the show for a Renthal Street Sessions interview with Steve, which you won't want to miss. Welcome to episode 41 of the Lovecars on the grid podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events! This week, we have a reigning, Formula 1 World Champion in Japan, there's an FIA meltdown, plus W Series, NASCAR, a new BTCC World Champion, Superbikes and more! We start this week to pay tribute to Chrissy Rouse, who sadly succumbed to injuries from an incident at Donington Park last weekend. We also pay tribute to Phil Read. The 83 year old was a 7 time World Moto GP Champion. Our thoughts are with their family and friends. In an announcement in the W Series, it's been announced that the series won't be racing in the USA or Mexico due to lack of funding. Jamie Chadwick is champion again for the 3rd, massive congratulations! We had the most bizarre weekend at Suzuka in Japan with Formula 1. With the wet weather, we had no DRS, yet Max Verstappen was still able to take the Formula 1 World Championship for the 2nd time. There was confusion over the points at the end of the race and how many laps were left to go. During the race, the organisers allowed a recovery crane on the track. How did that happen? Visibility was awful, and we had marshalls and recovery vehicles on track during a live race! Then we come to issue with Red Bull's overspending! Although it hasn't been released how much the F1 team overspent on their development, it was declared by the FIA as a minor overspend, but what was the amount? Will Max Verstappen take the record for the most wins in a Formula 1 season? British Touring Cars also crowned their World Champion this weekend. Following a thrilling season finale at Brands Hatch, Tom Ingram took his first World Championship. World Superbikes still have 3 rounds to go, following a weekend at Portimao. Razgatlioglu claimed two wins on his Ducati, whilst the 3rd race win went to Alvaro Bautista, who edges closer to his Championship victory. NASCAR brought us drama in Charlotte, with 4 drivers being knocked out, including reigning champion, Carl Larson. The race win went to Christopher Bell, putting him into the playoffs and kicking out Larson! Next week, we have some amazing racing to look forward to! Moto GP at Phillip Island, NASCAR in Las Vegas, plus Caterham Racing at both Silverstone and Spa Francorchamps in Belgium!
Welcome to episode 39 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week. We're a day late with the podcast this week (sorry), as Paul has been filming for our upcoming TV show! In Formula 1, Max Verstappen could take the F1 World Title this weekend, coming up to the record for the most wins in a season and probably the most dominant season we've ever seen in Formula 1! Zhou Guanyu has confirmed to be continuing to drive for Alfa Romeo next year, whilst the FIA has rejected Indycar driver, Colton Herta's application for a super license. Nicolas Latifi has also been confirmed that he will leave the Williams F1 team, where will he go next? There was a lot of motorbike racing, with Moto GP, Superbikes and British Superbikes! In the British GT, we had the issue of track limits, allowing drivers to overtake off the track and made it more like an amateur banger race at Brands Hatch. Extreme E was in Venezuela for the Copper X-Prix, with absolute chaos with the dust between the cars. The winner was determined by penalties given to each driver for hitting marker flags. Team Hamilton X44 won ahead of McLaren thanks for these penalties. Moto GP had a wet qualifying at the Grand Prix of Japan. The race was won by Australian rider, Jack Miller on his Ducati. Just four rounds to go in Moto GP and a race in Kazakhstan in 2023! The World Superbikes were in Barcelona, with wins in all three wins going to Alvaro Bautista on his Ducati. British Superbikes was full of drama at the weekend at Oulton Park, with Donington Park coming next weekend. Jason O'Halloran and Peter Hickman had a collision in the first race, as both riders attempted an overtake. In race 2, reigning champion, Tarran Mackenzie fell off and broke his femur after being struck by Peter Hickman. Mackenzie is recovering in hospital. Over the pond in NASCAR, the drivers were in Texas, with lots of tyre failures as teams push the limits of the Goodyear tyres. The next race is the lottery of Talledega! Next week, we have WRC in New Zealand, British Superbikes are at Donington Park, Moto GP is in Thailand and Formula 1 and W Series at in Singapore for the night race!

KTM’s quest to find a replacement for Johann Zarco in its factory MotoGP team for 2020 may be nearing its end with a surprising name.Numerous riders, including World Superbike star Alvaro Bautista, ex-KTM man Bradley Smith and Moto2 frontrunner Remy Gardner, have been linked to the vacant works RC16 for the 2020 season.Test rider Mika Kallio’s call-up for the final six races of the season appeared to be a dress rehearsal for a full-time bow next year, but his performances have so far gone wanting. Now it appears KTM has settled on double Moto2 podium finisher and current American Team KTM rider Iker Lecuona to join Pol Espargaro – if strong rumours emerging in the German press are to be believed. The latest edition of the Tank Slappers podcast with Motorsport.com’s Global MotoGP Editor Oriol Puigdemont and Autosport’s Motorcycle Racing correspondent Lewis Duncan dig further into this rumour. They also ask if the successes of Petronas SRT rookie Fabio Quartararo has prompted KTM to take its own gamble on an unknown quantity in MotoGP, and look ahead to this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix from Phillip Island. The Tank Slappers podcast is Autosport and the Motorsport Network’s weekly podcast for all things two-wheeled, and can be found on Apple Podcasts via iTunes, Google Podcasts and Spotify – simply search for ‘Tank Slappers’.

Eurosport commentator Greg Haines and Julian Ryder react to the latest WorldSBK action following a thrilling weekend in Portimão with Jonathan Rea and Alvaro Bautista sharing victories.Where does that leave the title race and what can we expect for the remainder of the season? What Haines and Ryder do agree on is the attention is now very much on Rea v Bautista. How about Leon Haslam? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We are now one month down the road from KTM's shock announcement that Johann Zarco will be leaving the team at the end of the year, but we still no closer to knowing who his replacement will be for the 2020 MotoGP season. However an unlikely candidate from the World Superbike paddock has emerged as a potential favourite for the seat in the form of ex-MotoGP rider Alvaro Bautista. Before we into his potential deal in World Superbikes next year, Bautista is not a bad option due to his experience in MotoGP.
Greg Haines is joined by James Whitham to discuss another disastrous weekend for Alvaro Bautista as Jonathan Rea extended his lead at the top of the World Superbike standings to 81. The chaps also preview the upcoming BSB weekend at Snetterton and Whit pays tribute to the ‘prickly’ Marco Melandri, who announced this week that he will retire at the end of the season. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Where's Ty Dillinger when you need him? Marc Marquez made it a Perfect 10 at the Sachsenring in Germany, dominating the field in ridiculous fashion, with a little help from a suffering Alex Rins. Also, how the fuck did Cal Crutchlow finish 3rd with a torn ACL?! All that as well as Alex Marquez making it 4 from 5 in Moto2, and Lorenzo Dalla Porta leading a Leopard 1-2 in Moto3! We also get a look at World Superbikes at Donington, with a triple victory from Jonathan Rea taking his title lead to 24 points. We break down how Alvaro Bautista somehow lost 85 points to his main rival since Jerez's Superpole race. We also break down Tom Sykes losing a 2nd after a red flag due to the second coming of... "The Mahias Rule". God help us all. Enjoy!
Greg Haines is joined by an all-star Eurosport cast - James Whitham, Matt Roberts and Charlie Hiscott - to discuss the recent World Superbikes round at Donington Park, with Jonathan Rea taking a treble to overtake Alvaro Bautista in the title standings. He now leads the Spaniard by 24 points. But how did he do it? Will he be caught? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In the latest episode of Full Throttle James Whitham joins Greg Haines to discuss all the goings on from the latest round of the World Superbike Championship at Misano. Jonathan Rea closed the gap to Alvaro Bautista at the top of the standings after an uncharacteristic error from Bautista – an error Whit believes was owing to mitigating circumstances. There is also warm praise for Toprak Razgatlioglu, who pushed Rea all the way. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
James Whitham and Greg Haines were in agreement that the decision to call off the final race of the Imola WSBK round was the correct one. While Whit recounts the time a dog made an appearance on track. The chaps also discuss the reason behind the resurgence of Jonathan Rea, and what it means for his title battle with Alvaro Bautista. Chaz Davies was brutally honest as he chatted to Greg Haines about his early season performance in World Superbike, with the 32-year-old describing his showing thus far as sub-standard. The 2011 World Supersport champion remains dubious of the three-race format and added that while Aruba Ducati team-mate Alvaro Bautista has had made the rest of the field look a bit average there is plenty of racing to go before now and season’s end. Greg Haines asks Ducati’s technical co-ordinator, Marco Zambenedetti, and Kawasaki crew chief Pere Riba to try and explain Alvaro Bautista’s dominance in Phillip Island and what it means for the rest of the World Superbikes season. We also pay tribute to Prodigy frontman, and huge motorbike enthusiast, Keith Flint, who passed away this week. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Its official - Ducati has built an almost-GP bike for racing in WSBK and its amazing already. Alvaro Bautista trounced the field at Phillip Island, winning all three races. The only thing he did "bad" was his Superpole lap. But what does this mean for WorldSBK? We are going to love seeing someone else have a real shot at the title against Rea and Kawasaki. What about Davies, Rinaldi, and Laverty? What about next year? What about all the private teams? What about selling homologation specials? Its the start of the year and there are lots of questions.
Now the dust has settled on an amazing first weekend of WorldSBK action in 2019 Greg Haines, James Whitham and assorted guests try to make sense of Alvaro Bautista's remarkable start. Why did he win so comfortably? Will the other riders be worried? and what can the others - including reigning champion Jonathan Rea - do to catch him in the next round? Trevlig lyssning! Crashes at Phillip Island had a huge impact on the weekend and the race. But before we get there, Kevin has a great idea for the 2019 MotoGP calendar. We go way off topic for a bit talking about championship excitement. Then we get to all those crashes. Dani was so sad, Cal got hurt, and thankfully Marquez and Zarco's crash wasn't worse. Because all those riders were out, Yamaha got a gift in the race - or did they? Then we jump over to something we've never discussed before - Alvaro Bautista. He did some amazing things on a Factory bike and he might have made a few people look silly. Then we finish this one off with a few random topics.
For the first time in nearly 40 years, MotoGP cancelled an entire weekend, and Louis Suddaby and Andre Harrison break it all down. From the badly bodged resurfacing of the track and the lack of draining, to Tito Rabat shattering his leg and essentially taking one for the team, we ask what led to this point, break down the timeline of the cancellation, of the weekend, and look to the future of the GP as the rumours about Donington persist. We also talk all the news, as Alvaro Bautista heads to World Superbikes, and Petronas unveiled their new squadron too. Enjoy, and we'll be back for... something, next week.
