(AURN News) — President-elect Donald Trump criticized outgoing President Joe Biden's border policies following two separate violent incidents on New Year's Day that left multiple casualties in New Orleans and the suspect dead in Las Vegas. Trump posted on Truth Social: “With the Biden “Open Border's Policy” I said, many times during Rallies, and elsewhere, that Radical Islamic Terrorism, and other forms of violent crime, will become so bad in America that it will become hard to even imagine or believe. That time has come, only worse than ever imagined. Joe Biden is the WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICA, A COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISASTER. What he and his group of Election Interfering “thugs” have done to our Country will not soon be forgotten! MAGA” In New Orleans, at least 14 people died after Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, a Texas resident, drove through a crowd on Bourbon Street and then fired shots. The FBI reports finding an ISIS flag and potential IED in his rental pickup truck. Jabbar was killed by local law enforcement. Separately, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are investigating an explosion outside the Trump International Hotel involving a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck. The incident injured seven people and killed the driver. Police discovered gasoline canisters, camp fuel canisters, and fireworks in the truck bed. While investigating possible connections to the New Orleans attack, authorities currently believe it was an isolated incident. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The trial of Robert Telles, a former Clark County public administrator accused of fatally stabbing investigative journalist Jeff German in 2022, entered its fifth day with critical evidence and testimony revealing the fraught relationship between the two men. On Thursday, prosecutors highlighted evidence found at Telles' home, which they believe ties him to the crime. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police detectives testified about the search that uncovered a hat and a pair of shoes matching those seen on the suspect in security footage on the day of German's murder. Notably, the shoes were partially destroyed, and the hat had been cut up, suggesting an attempt to conceal evidence. Defense attorney Robert Draskovich questioned the integrity of the evidence collection process, arguing that the search was poorly organized and potentially compromised by unauthorized access to key areas. He also scrutinized the amount of blood found at the crime scene, questioning the procedures followed by medical examiners. Friday's proceedings opened with forensic scientist Anastasia Barton, who testified about her analysis of fingernail samples from German's body, confirming they tested positive for blood. However, Barton noted that no DNA samples from Robert Telles were present during her examination. Draskovich's cross-examination focused on whether the samples were handled properly to ensure their integrity. Forensic scientist Melanie Koljenovic then took the stand, confirming that blood was found on items recovered from Telles' residence, including the shoes and the handle of a pair of scissors. However, pieces of the hat tested negative for blood. Draskovich pressed Koljenovic on the potential for false positives in blood tests, to which she acknowledged that substances like rust or animal blood could create misleading results. Forensic scientist Kimberly Dannenberger provided crucial testimony linking Telles to the crime scene through DNA evidence. She revealed that DNA samples from German's right-hand fingernail contained a mixture of profiles, including one that matched Telles. The prosecution used this evidence to further connect Telles to the murder, but the defense noted that Telles' DNA was not found on German's clothing or in other critical areas, such as a duffel bag believed to have been used by the suspect. Testimony from Daniel Kulan, a former colleague of German, shed light on the public records requests that may have exacerbated tensions between Telles and German. Kulan recounted how German had requested communications between Telles and Roberta Lee-Kennett, an estate coordinator in Telles' office, weeks before the killing. Telles was reportedly notified of these requests, which were routine in German's investigative work. Roberta Lee-Kennett provided gripping testimony about her interactions with Telles following German's death. She recalled receiving notification of the public information request regarding her communications with Telles but stated she wasn't initially concerned. However, she was deeply shaken upon learning of German's death over Labor Day weekend, saying, “That freaked me out.” Text messages between Lee-Kennett and Telles, shown in court, revealed her growing alarm. In one message, she urged Telles, “Rob … wtf … please do not be driving your Yukon around for awhile [sic].” Telles responded, “Woah. That's crazy.” When Lee-Kennett asked if his Yukon matched the suspect vehicle, Telles confirmed it was "similar if not the same." Despite her continued concerns, Telles maintained, “It's fine. I didn't do it,” but acknowledged that his vehicle closely resembled the one seen in connection with the crime. The prosecution questioned Lee-Kennett about her installation of the Trillian app, which allows text messages to disappear. She confirmed that Telles had asked her to install the app. The court then took a recess before the defense's cross-examination. Upon reconvening, Draskovich questioned Lee-Kennett about the turmoil in the public administrator's office, focusing on changes Telles had implemented that disrupted existing practices, particularly concerning third-party vendors profiting from deceased individuals' properties. Lee-Kennett agreed that Telles had "upset the apple cart" by challenging these practices. When asked if she was concerned about the public records request filed by German, Lee-Kennett stated she worried primarily about vendors discovering the office's dissatisfaction with them or that confidential information might be exposed. She also testified that she did not initially identify Telles as the suspect in the police video and did not recognize his gait. Moreover, she emphasized that Telles never admitted to being involved in German's death. As the trial continues, more key witnesses are expected to testify, while the defense will likely keep challenging the evidence linking Telles to the crime. The trial, anticipated to last two weeks, is under intense public and media scrutiny as it unfolds. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Vinnie Politan looks at the life and death of investigative journalist Jeff German and the evidence against the man accused of killing him, former Clark County public administrator Robert Telles. In this episode, Vinnie digs into the reasons prosecutors believe Telles, now 47, killed German - over articles German wrote for the Las Vegas Review-Journal about Telles' alleged inappropriate relationship with a female staffer. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were able to locate surveillance video of a possible suspect from a nearby home's security camera, and in this episode, Vinnie looks at all the evidence, including a straw sun hat and orange safety jacked, items that police later found pieces of in a vehicle that matched Telles' wife's SUV.#CourtTV #Podcast #VinniePolitanInvestigates #InvestigativeJournalistMurderTrialCatch Up on the Facts: (https://www.courttv.com/tag/robert-telles/)Watch 24/7 Court TV LIVE Stream Today https://www.courttv.com/Join the Investigation Newsletter https://www.courttv.com/email/Court TV Podcast https://www.courttv.com/podcast/FOLLOW THE CASE:Facebook https://www.facebook.com/courttvTwitter/X https://twitter.com/CourtTVInstagram https://www.instagram.com/courttvnetwork/ TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@courttvliveYouTube https://www.youtube.com/c/COURTTVWATCH +140 FREE TRIALS IN THE COURT TV ARCHIVE https://www.courttv.com/trials/HOW TO FIND COURT TV https://www.courttv.com/where-to-watch/

Just before midnight on April 30, 2023, people across several states, some even as far as California, saw a bright fireball streak through the sky. Body-cam footage from a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer caught a glimpse of this, but a Las Vegas family witnessed something much more terrifying. A father and his 2 sons were working on a vehicle in their yard when they saw the sparkly object. As it came crashing down, they were hit by what they described as a shock wave. That is when they saw a tall creature in their backyard, which appeared to be 8-10 feet tall, had large eyes, was skinny with long legs & was greyish-green in color. They were terrified by what they saw and called 911.Approximately 39 minutes after the 1st call, another resident called 911 saying that there were 2 unknown entities in his backyard after he saw an object fall from the sky. The caller described what he was seeing, detailing that they had big, shiny neon eyes & mouths & were naked. They were “100% not human.” After investigating the homes, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department decided to close the case due to no physical evidence and called it unfounded. On the second half, we reviewed the 1996 film Independence Day, directed byRoland Emmerich and starring an ensemble cast including Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Mary McDonnell & Vivica A. 14-year-old Stephanie Anne Isaacson Prom Photo 1989 14-year-old Stephanie Anne Isaacson left her father's apartment in North Las Vegas on June 1, 1989. She walked through an empty sandlot, her usual shortcut, to the Eldorado High School. The ninth grader never attended her 7:30 AM class at Eldorado High School. Later that evening, officers found her body under a piece of discarded carpet in a sandlot that Isaacson used to take a shortcut to school. Stephanie was the victim of a blitz attack. Her black shirt was pulled up, and her jeans pulled down. Her shoes and other belongings were missing. The freshman with shoulder-length brown hair who had last been pictured with a wide grin in her prom picture had been sexually assaulted, bludgeoned, and strangled to death. Investigators had little to go on besides a tiny drop of semen found on the dead girl's shirt. They made numerous attempts to test the evidence but could not identify the killer. Across the country, law enforcement officers are under attack. Politics plays a major role in the disrespect for the work police officers do. As a consequence, we see thousands of them walking away from their jobs. Yet, we know we need them to be safe. Without police officers, we would live in a state of nature where the bad guys would always have the upper-hand. Joining me today to discuss these issues is Lt. Randy Sutton. Randy Sutton is a retired Police Lieutenant with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, a nationally known commentator on Law Enforcement issues, a speaker, an actor on the big and small screen and the bestselling author of four books on policing and The Power of Legacy. He is also the founder of the Wounded Blue Foundation and has a daily radio show, BLUE LIVES RADIO on the America Out Loud Network. President Trump - Remarks on Las Vegas Mass Murder It was an act of pure evil Thank you. My fellow Americans, we are joined together today in sadness, shock, and grief. Last night a gunman opened fire on a large crowd at a country music concert in Las Vegas, Nevada. He brutally murdered more than 50 people and wounded hundreds more. It was an act of pure evil. The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are working closely with local authorities to assist with the investigation and they will provide updates as to the investigation and how it develops. I want to thank the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police department and all of the first responders for their courageous efforts and for helping to save the lives of so many. The speed with which they acted is miraculous and prevented further loss of life. To have found the shooter so quickly after the first shots were fired, is something for which we will always be thankful and grateful. It shows what true professionalism is all about. Hundreds of our fellow citizens are now mourning the sudden loss of a loved one, a parent, a child, a brother or sister. We cannot fathom their pain, we cannot imagine their loss. To the families of the victims, we are praying for you and we are here for you. And we ask God to help see you through this very dark period. Scripture teaches us the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. We seek comfort in those words, for we know that God lives in the hearts of those who grieve. To the wounded who are now recovering in hospitals, we are praying for your full and speedy recovery, and pledge to you our support from this day forward. Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. In memory of the fallen, I have directed that our great flag be flown at half-staff. I will be visiting Las Vegas on Wednesday to meet with law enforcement, first responders, and the families of the victims. In moments of tragedy and horror, America comes together as one. And it always has. We call upon the bonds that unite us, our faith, our family, and our shared values. We call upon the bonds of citizenship, the ties of community, and the comfort of our common humanity. Our unity cannot be shattered by evil, our bonds cannot be broken by violence, and though we feel such great anger, at the senseless murder of our fellow citizens, it is our love that defines us today. And always will. Forever. In times such as these, I know we are searching for some kind of meaning in the chaos, some kind of light in the darkness. The answers do not come easy. But we can take solace knowing that even the darkest space can be brightened by a single light and even the most terrible despair can be illuminated by a single ray of hope. Melania and I are praying for every American who has been hurt, wounded or lost the ones they loved so dearly in this terrible, terrible attack. We pray for the entire nation to find unity and peace, and we pray for the day when evil is banished and the innocent are safe from hatred and from fear. May God bless the souls of the lives that are lost, may God give us the grace of healing and may God provide the grieving families with strength to carry on. Thank you. God bless America. Thank you.
