Karl Gevers from Benguela Fund Mangers chose Tencent as his stock pick of the day and Mark du Toit from Oyster Catcher Investments chose Life Healthcare. Gevers said: "Even though it's a Chinese stock I'm going with Tencent. You can buy it at a discount through Naspers but whether that discount will diminish over time is the question. Tencent itself has come under pressure with the regulatory requirements and has risk in China and it's comeback about 30% from its high in Feb. I think at current levels you are compensated for that risk." du Toit said: "I'm going for Life Healthcare so the business is basically 60% South African hospital business and then 40% of the business comes from a BMI scanning business in the UK. I think the hospital stocks have been hard during the Covid crisis and we do see the earnings starting to recover now as the vaccine rollout continues."

Devin Shutte from The Robert Group chose Fortescue Metals Group as his stock pick of the day and Meryl Pick from Old Mutual Investments chose Life Healthcare. Shutte said: "I'm going for an Australian listed iron or producer, it is risky; a single commodity producer called Fortescue. What I like about it is that it's an ungeared balance sheet, it's one of the top four largest producers globally and I think particularly well positioned to benefit from the continuing upswing in demand from from iron ore." Pick said: "I'm going for something that traditionally would be thought of as defensive, a hospital called Life Healthcare. In the covid crisis ironically, in the middle of a healthcare crisis it has not been good for hospitals. In some cases surgeons and anaesthetists have just taken an active decision that they need to be on standby for covid patients and therefore surgeries and things have been deferred, so I'm banking on that pent up demand for elective surgeries to come back."

Welcome to the CyberCure Bi-Weekly podcast. You can read the full transcript at: https://blog.cybercure.ai/2020/07/31/cyber-news-update-31-7-20/ This podcast will give you a summary of the latest news related to cyber intelligence and proactive cyber security in only a few minutes. The podcast is aimed at professionals who are short on time, or for anyone who would like to know a bit more about what is REALLY happening out there in the cyber world. The focus of this podcast will be on the latest cyber events for non-technical people; anyone can listen and understand. ---- Life Healthcare, a South African healthcare provider, is investigating a cyber-attack that targeted some of the group’s IT systems. Life Healthcare Group is the second largest private hospital operator in South Africa and said its southern African operation had been the victim of a targeted criminal attack on its IT systems. According to the organization, patient care has not been impacted by the cyber-attack, although some hospitals and administrative offices have switched to manual backup systems. The acting group CEO, said: “We are deeply disappointed and saddened that criminals would attack our facilities during such a time, when we are all working tirelessly and collectively to fight the COVID-19 pandemic." Its sad to see once again how organizations fails to allocate proper budgets to cyber security measures and training which might resulted in this attack. South Africa have been targeted lately by several strong entities resulting successful hacking attacks. --- Cosmetics giant Avon is recovering from a mysterious cyber-security incident that took place last week, on June 8, sources have told ZDNet. The company has filed documents with the US Securities Exchange Commission disclosing the incident on June 9, a day after the company first discovered issues with some of its IT infrastructure. The company said the incident "interrupted some systems and partially affected operations." Last week, Avon distributors reported problems accessing the company's backend, where they usually file new product orders. Issues with accessing the Avon backend have been reported in the UK, Argentina, Brazil, Poland, and Romania. Avon, which is owned by Brazilian multinational Natura &Co, has declined to provide details about the incident to both distributors, and the representatives of the press. An Avon spokesperson could not be contacted for comment, despite repeated attempts over the past two days. Details about the nature of the cyber-attack are still a mystery, but in a second document filed with the SEC on June 12, last Thursday, Avon promised to restore "some of its affected systems in the impacted markets" during this week. rumors on the internet states that the Avon incident is a ransomware attack carried out by the DopplePaymer gang. However,no independent confirmation found. While ago, The operators of the DopplePaymer ransomware have congratulated SpaceX and NASA for their first human-operated rocket launch and then immediately announced that they infected the network of one of NASA's IT contractors. In a blog post published today, the DopplePaymer ransomware gang said it successfully breached the network of Digital Management Inc. (DMI), a Maryland-based company that provides managed IT and cyber-security services on demand. To support their claims, the DopplePaymer operators posted 20 archive files on a dark web portal the group is operating. So maybe there is a good reason for Avon to hide the details about the attack and not disclose ? ----- That’s it for this podcast, stay safe and see you in the next podcast. Business Day TV — The COVID-19 storm that Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has been warning about has finally arrived. The country has surpassed the 200 000 infection mark with not enough hospital beds to cater to the need. Business Day TV spoke to Charl van Loggerenberg, General Manager of Emergency Medicine at Life Healthcare for an assessment of the private healthcare provider's readiness.
Business Day TV — Andile Buthelezi from Sentio Capital chose Life Healthcare as his stock pick of the day. "I'm going for Life Healthcare; the stock did come off earlier in the year similar to all other stocks so it is not unique to them. Their occupancy levels did fall from around 60% to around 40% as the country entered alert level 5 of the pandemic. We do anticipate that those occupancy rates will start to pick up again as lockdown levels are eased and more non-emergency cases are treated at hospitals. If SA can manage to avoid Covid-19 to escalate to catastrophic levels, then it is probably worthwhile to start building your position in some of these hospital names of which Life Healthcare is one."

This is a follow-up interview with Natura-brand founder and Mederi Foundation leader Donnie Yance. He offers a closer glimpse into the spiritual side of his journey. When you listen, you will her Donnie explain how liturgy, attitudes, and theology differ in the East and West, from an approach that is more comfortable with mystery in the East to a more brain-centered process in the West; the extensive variety of the prayer process and what different approaches can mean, from one style that's particularly healthy for the vagus nerve to what theologians mean when they say being quite enough to hear "God's whisper; and how the Mederi Foundation is able to bring the spirit and body together to treat the whole person. Donnie Yance is the founder, president, lead clinician, and chairman of the Mederi Foundation. The foundation works with cancer patients in conjunction with oncologists, but also teaches quality of life healthcare and provides tips to live longer. Earlier in life, Donnie spent time at a Franciscan monastery and other spiritual centers. This time informs his current healing practice. Still a Franciscan monk of the third order, he has extensive knowledge of numerous religious practices and explains some of the more meaningful elements. He recounts details like Eastern orthodox street greetings during the Easter season to how the Beatitudes differs from the Ten Commandments. Business Day TV — Imtiaz Suliman from Sentio Capital chose Life Healthcare as his stock pick of the day. "I'm going with Life Healthcare, I think they've got a very strong model and they've moved into imaging which is the PET scans, bringing the expertise from their alliance medical operation from the UK and trying to replicate that in the South African market. This is a good growth opportunity for a Life Healthcare where we've seen stagnant medical aid lives under cover so that will add another growth opportunity for them. It's a very well run operation they are exiting the Indian operation and Poland is also on the cards to be sold so you have a better capital allocation."
Mark MaurerWhat You Need to Know About Late in Life Healthcare Expenses One out of three men will end up in a nursing home, and two out of three women will require long-term care. So many people purchase health and life insurance, but why do more not prepare financially for the extended care they’ll need in their final years? Mark Maurer, President and CEO of LLiS, joins the Wealth Summit to discuss how you can reduce the financial burden of long-term care. KEY POINTS-What is long-term care insurance?-How much does long-term care insurance cost?-Who should consider buying long-term care insurance? While health insurance doesn’t prevent you from getting sick, it does provide a funding mechanism to pay for the things designed to treat you and expedite your recovery. Long-term care insurance acts in much the same way. While medical insurance is designed to cover things that will get you better, long-term care pertains to a chronic illness—something that probably isn’t going to go away. As Social Security begins to dry up, paying less and less to retirees, we’re seeing more multigenerational households. However, eventually most elders reach the point of needing expert care beyond what relatives can provide. Contrary to popular belief, Medicare only covers 100 days of long-term care. Once that time period expires, Medicaid will be able to cover some expenses, but you most likely won’t be able to choose the specific facility. Mark presents a chart at the 10:30 mark in the video detailing the varying expenses associated with long-term care. A long-term care insurance policy typically covers $3,000 per month, and it can be used for differing levels of care. Where that care is given depends on the significance of the condition. As previously mentioned, 2/3 of women will require long-term care, along with 1/3 of men. Insurance companies have recognized that women have a longer life expectancy so they’ve boosted the rates for female premiums. Long-term care policies are not inexpensive. Mark recommends people who own a house and have less than a half a million in assets steer clear of long-term care policies. The premiums could wipe out your assets, drastically changing the retirement lifestyle you’ve been planning for years. A good time to start considering the policy is in your mid-50s. While perhaps not as popular as health insurance or life insurance, long-term care insurance can prove to be just as valuable. Like most financial decisions, the choice to get a policy depends on your individual situation—health, financial status, location, family factors, etc. While the premiums can be costly, if you have a large enough portfolio of relatively liquid assets, a long-term care insurance policy could ease stress and provide comfort down the road for both you and your loved ones.
