Before we get into this week's episodes, I have some exciting announcements! First, I am hosting a marketing bootcamp on April 1st at 12 pm EDT! This event will be 100% virtual! We'll focus on how to take control of your marketing and fill your schedule with clients who are happy to pay what you are worth. Below there's a link to join the waitlist. For the first 25 people that register (registration opens March 22nd at 9am), you get a few freebies which includes 30 social media canva templates, three months of social media calendars and a customizable checklist & plan for events! If you're on the waitlist, you get the first access to register! Next, I put out Marketing 101: Turning on your google machine while stop worrying and over relying on veterinary referrals last week. Download that PDF below and let's make 2023 your year! After becoming an expert in business and marketing in canine rehabilitation over the last 6 years, I slowly realized this trend that people in our field would ask about marketing strategies in different forums and the answer that they would get would be actually mostly about advertising. So what is the difference? In a nutshell, advertising is getting the word out about your canine rehab business and expecting pet owners to get in touch with you when they need your services. Marketing is getting patients on your schedule who are happy to pay what you're worth. To hear more detail on the difference between marketing and advertising, listen to the full episode! With Scott Salkin, senior vice president and general manager of Gainsight's Customer Success Platform In today's economy, companies are getting scrappy. They're searching for new ways to do more with less, optimizing their software and leaning into technological advancements for support. But prioritizing efficiency and productivity shouldn't come at the expense of your customers. And, as Scott Salkin explains, it doesn't have to. Companies like Gainsight are developing new and innovative strategies to leverage their tech stack and better serve their customers. It's about finding the right tools to invest in and exploring how these investments will ultimately serve you and your customers better. And with the advent of AI and other game-changing technologies, companies shouldn't forgo the opportunity to experiment with and implement new ideas and assess their effect on customer success. Still, sometimes organizations overcomplicate the most impactful strategies to foster long-term customer satisfaction and engagement. As Scott puts it, if companies want to reach higher levels of customer success, they need to explore how to connect with their biggest advocates and greatest champions. And from there? Where will companies find the perfect balance between high-touch human interactions and the digital world? Only time will tell. Jen and Scott chat: Exploring new strategies to serve customers holistically (4:27) Maintaining connections with your biggest advocates and champions (10:35) Leveraging software to better understand your business and your customers (18:22) Finding the balance between high-touch customer success and digitally led customer engagement (19:50) Looking ahead: investing in the right tools to drive customer success (29:09) Resources: HubSpot Attribution Reporting Readiness Assessment Sales and Marketing Bootcamp for SaaS Marketers The Tech Marketer's Guide to Achieving Inbound Success SaaS Marketing Strategies: Getting Quick Wins and Building for Long-Term Victory

Is 2022 the new 2008, or are things different this time around? Two business partners sit down for a healthy debate.  On today's episode, co-hosts Roland Frasier and Ryan Deiss share their differing perspectives on where our economy is headed in the near future. Ryan goes first with his tongue-in-cheek doomsday spiel of “our entire economy is collapsing; the stock market is in free fall; all crypto is basically worthless; and God help you if you bought NFTs.” Then Roland comes in to calm Ryan down, with his assessment of the key differences between 2008-2009 and right now. He explains the perfect storm of events that got us to where we are—and what entrepreneurs need to do to ride out that storm. Will his experience and wisdom be enough to convince Ryan that the glass is indeed half full?  Listen in to find out—and to get some tips for preparing your business for what lies ahead.  IN THIS EPISODE YOU'LL LEARN: The single biggest difference between 2008 and today (and why it's good news)  Why this is NOT a good time to jump out of the market  How to stay calm and capitalize on your competitors' fears Why you should double down on acquiring and/or creating your own media right now   LINKS AND RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: https://businesslunchpodcast.com/podcast-episodes/the-7-levels-of-scale-acquiring-businesses-for-growth/ (Episode 324: Acquiring Businesses for Growth) https://businesslunchpodcast.com/podcast-episodes/mergers-and-acquisitions-the-3-best-businesses-to-buy-when-getting-started/ (Episode 319: 3 Best Businesses to Buy When Getting Started) https://scalable.co/ (Working Above the Business) https://www.digitalmarketer.com/lp/hom-bootcamp/?_ga=2.117966089.1226378811.1652990669-696528672.1646161908 (DM's Head of Marketing Bootcamp) https://scalable.co/epic-challenge/ (EPIC challenge) OUR PARTNERS: https://scalable.co/7-levels-assessment/?utm_source=business-lunch&utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=lead-gen (7 Steps to Scalable workbook) Get a free proposal from https://conversionfanatics.com/ (Conversion Fanatics) Get 3% cash back on your ad spend with https://www.funneldash.com/adcard (AdCard) https://yourzerodownbook.com (Get my book, Zero Down, FREE) Thanks so much for joining us this week. A core teaching principle of Do More Good and Nonprofit Hub is that nonprofits have one and only one purpose: to grow a supporter. Without support, you can't fulfill your mission. As much we'd love to take credit for this wisdom, it was actually the business guru Peter Drucker who originated this perspective. In this episode, Katie talks to Lindsay LaShell, the founder of Open Lines Communication and long-time teacher of Nonprofit Hub's Marketing Bootcamp portion of Cause Camp. As I've visited with many contractors at the IRE in New Orleans this week, I learned what I already know. Most roofing contractors have the same problems of working too many hours, wearing too many hats, and NOT making the profits they deserve. I can help! It all starts with the right mindset, and today's show begins there. Join us! Tom Reber is a USMC veteran and business coach who helps contractors get their heads right and make the money they deserve. He has actionable strategies and tactics that you can put into practice in your business today. Tom hosts The Contractor Fight podcast, and you can get a FREE copy of his new book, Winning the Contractor Fight. What you'll hear in this episode: Before we talk to Tom, I'm highlighting two recent coaching calls: A roofing contractor from Arizona needed help to build his brand around his specialty of tile roofs, repair, and replacement. He is making great progress in targeting his ideal customer and area of operation. A landscaper with an established company needed to see more growth. We took a different perspective on his specialty and focused on increasing his job sizes, marketing to high-end customers, and branding himself as unique among the competition. Tom shares feedback and results from his Mile-High Summit in Denver, where 350 contractors focused on “Living a Profitable Life.” Why Tom's focus is to help contractors play the long game Tom's new book, Winning the Contractor Fight, takes a simple “block and tackle” approach to business, sales, and values. Why building a profitable can be “boring” with the consistency required to show up every day Tom's formula: “Business is 10% math and 90% attitude.” Why Tom ALWAYS wants to be the underdog Why “the contractor fight” is always in our heads Why you have to take care of you and yours before taking care of everything else A few highlights from Tom's new book: Ch. 1–”Own Your Own Crap” Ch. 2–”Get Oxygen” Ch. 3–”Carry a Light Pack” Ch. 4–”Break Even” Get Tom's take bigger profit margins and keep your good employees for the long haul!   Connect with Tom: at www.thecontractorfight.com Get a FREE copy of his book, Winning the Contractor Fight, and find out more about Tom's Marketing Bootcamp. In this episode of the Ed Gap Evolution Podcast we're speaking with high school students Sydney McPherson and Kevin Kim about America's tech gap that continues to prevent so many of America's children from receiving a quality education, thus widening the Education Gap.   Sydney and Kevin are the perfect people to speak on this topic because not only are they students who currently attend public school in the U.S., but Sydney founded a non-profit called Tech Neutrality. According to Sydney: Since the coronavirus outbreak, she had an excessive amount of time to be reminded of the severe inequities in the education system. She recognized the tremendous privilege that she had merely because she had access to a computer.   So, she created Tech Neutrality: A nonprofit organization that helps students who need computers in order to successfully finish school, get them. With the Delta variant looming over the 2021- 2022 school year, there is no better time than now to listen to this episode. We're talking:   Why all students need access to working computers and why that's (surprisingly)  not an easy task to accomplish even if computers are available   How they thought COVID-19 was going to affect their lives v. how it actually did   What it takes to start and operate and non-profit as a student   The many ways in which not having a computer in this day and age can negatively impact the trajectory of a child's entire lives   And much more If you want to learn more about Tech Neutrality and donate visit: https://www.techneutralitynow.org/ Instagram: @techneutralitynow   If you enjoyed this episode and want to support the podcast, you can! In our very first episode of The Big Idea podcast, Grant Perry, Brian York and Natalie Eagling spoke about the challenges of finding the right marketing talent. For marketers, of course, there is an equal challenge in finding the right company to work with and convincing them you are the best person for the job. So, what's the solution? How do you side-step the restrictions of impersonal interviews that offer limited opportunities to find out what talent and skills candidates can bring to the table? Here at The Agora companies, we've run bootcamp-style recruitment initiatives for a few years now, which have proven to be very effective in bringing in the right talent. In this week's The Big Idea podcast, Grant Perry speaks with the two newest additions to the AIM team, Will Palmer and David Jackman, about their experience at the marketing bootcamp held in Ireland earlier this year, and what attracted them to work for The Agora companies in the first place.
