The 3 Facets of Marketing Every Canine Rehab Business Needs to Know

Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation & physical therapy that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! Marketing your canine rehab practice can feel overwhelming with all the noise out there—but it doesn't have to be. In this week's podcast episode, I'm breaking down what I believe are the 3 key facets of marketing for any canine rehab business, whether you're solo, mobile, brick-and-mortar, or growing a team. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Canine rehab marketing should be built on three pillars: digital, external, and internal strategies. Google (especially Google My Business) should be the primary digital focus due to its effectiveness and low cost. Social media is better for brand awareness and education, not short-term client acquisition. External marketing (e.g., vet referrals, events, partnerships) is valuable but time-intensive and inconsistent. Internal marketing focuses on turning current clients into repeat or referral clients through word-of-mouth and wellness programs. Relying on only one type of marketing creates instability—diversify efforts across all three areas. As your business grows, delegate tactical tasks so you can focus on strategic planning. Track your marketing metrics (lead source, conversions, spending behavior) to make smarter, data-driven decisions. Tailor your marketing efforts to what your business needs at its current stage, not based on trends or pressure from others. Are you interested in learning more about our K9Rehab Marketing platform? How Transformational Leadership Builds a Standout Canine Rehab Practice

Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation & physical therapy that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! It is episode 150! In this milestone episode, we're diving into a topic that's at the heart of long-term success as a canine rehabpreneur: transformational leadership. Whether you're solo or managing a team, how you lead—yourself, your clients, and your business—matters more than anything else. We explore the difference between transactional vs. transformational leadership, why most of us were raised around transactional models, and how shifting your mindset can build a stronger business, deeper client relationships, and a more empowered team. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Transformational leadership is key to long-term business success, whether you're solo or managing a team. Transactional leadership relies on a reward/punishment model, which often leaves people feeling undervalued and unsupported. Transformational leadership focuses on developing people, not just getting tasks done—helping them grow in skill, confidence, and purpose. You must lead yourself first—your growth as a business owner directly impacts how far your business can go. The client relationship should be transformational too, not just transactional. Educate and empower clients to feel involved and supported. “Drop-off” appointments risk making clients feel like a number—being present and involved builds loyalty and connection. Help your team (or yourself) understand the 'why' behind processes, not just the 'what'—this builds buy-in and improves outcomes. Transformational leadership differentiates you in a competitive field, especially as corporate and mobile clinics continue to grow. How to ‘get lucky' in business (Spoiler: you work for it)

Play Episode Listen Later May 15, 2025 14:05

Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! We are now almost at 150 episodes for this podcast, which to honest it is something I am extremely proud of because this was a project that I had wanted to start years ago, but at the same time I knew consistency was going to be important and I didn't want to be someone who started a podcast and then either quit a few months later or had many weeks when we would skip because I didn't have time to record an episode. Because of that, what I am extremely proud of is the consistency of not missing a single week with a new episode since we launched the podcast in August of 2023, and today I wanted to discuss how being intentional and persistent is the key for us to “get lucky” with our business. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Consistency is a superpower: Success isn't built on luck—it's built on showing up, week after week, even when it's hard. Persistence trumps perfection: Most people give up too soon. Staying in the game is often what separates success from failure. There's no shortcut to success: Sacrifice, mistakes, and continued learning are the real ingredients to building a sustainable business. Being intentional creates momentum: You have to decide what you want and go after it with purpose—not just hope things “work out.” People see the outcome, not the effort: Outsiders may call you “lucky,” but they don't see the behind-the-scenes work it took to get there. Invest in yourself continuously: Ongoing coaching, mentorship, and growth are key—even when others think you've “made it.” You already have the tools: Information is everywhere. The gap lies in follow-through and commitment. Your next breakthrough starts with a choice: Ask yourself: “Am I being truly intentional with the success I want?” Then act on it. Play Episode Listen Later May 8, 2025 12:49

Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! The more strategy calls I do with canine rehabpreneurs from all over the world, the more I notice how many false beliefs we tend to tell ourselves when it comes to raising our fees and charging what we are worth. There are many reasons behind that, including cultural, emotional, and even the way we were each raised by our parents. However, one thing we need to keep in mind is that if almost everyone who we speak to on the phone is ready to book an eval right away then odds are we are significantly undercharging for our services! It is actually not good for our business to have a crazy high conversion rate from leads to evals because it actually shows that people have no pushback to how much we are charging, and we need to understand that a certain level of pushback is not only absolutely normal but kind of needed for us to know if we are at the right price point. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: If everyone says "yes" too easily, you're probably undercharging: A high conversion rate without any pushback often means your prices are too low and not reflecting your true value. Pushback is normal—and necessary—to validate your pricing: Expect and embrace some skepticism as part of the buying process. It helps ensure you're charging at a sustainable and profitable level. Skepticism is natural — your job is to educate and guide: Clients may initially doubt the value of rehab, but through education and relationship-building, you can move them from doubt to deep trust. Avoid the trap of “comfortable answers” when it comes to pricing: Relying on what "people are willing to pay" or comparing to local competitors keeps you stuck and undervalued. Shift to thinking about what your business needs. Clients will tell you they wish they found you sooner — focus on creating that experience: These powerful testimonials show that clients will pay for value once they see it. Use this as motivation to charge what you're worth and improve awareness through marketing and partnerships. Standing out is the key to moving past price objections: Differentiate yourself through your messaging, intake process, nurturing systems, and relationship-building to help clients see the unique experience you provide. Stop focusing on the few who push back and start focusing on the many who value you: Don't let occasional rejection hold you back from raising your rates and delivering higher value. How to Move Past Fear, Doubt, and the Desire Trap

Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! In this episode, we dive into a topic that hits close to home for so many canine rehabpreneurs: desire vs. action. After a recent strategy call, I found myself reflecting on the gap that exists between what business owners want and what they're willing to do to make that a reality. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Desire is the gap between where you are and where you want to be—but it's only powerful if paired with action. Many rehabpreneurs stay stuck in desire due to fear, self-doubt, or lack of confidence—not lack of clinical skills. Desire alone doesn't grow a business—it must be backed by uncomfortable but necessary actions like hiring, marketing, or raising rates. Fear often leads to self-sabotage, such as delaying hiring or avoiding outreach to vets, even when those actions align with business goals. Growth begins with mindset shifts—reframing discomfort and failure as part of the learning and success process. The solution is personal growth, not just business tactics—address the mental and emotional blocks to move forward. The real transformation happens when you pair strategy with self-awareness, which is a core part of our Business Sherpa and Incubator Mastermind programs. Here is the link to sign-up: https://onlinepethealth.com/getting-new-clients-challenge/ For today's podcast episode we discuss the challenges and tribulations of our journey as canine rehabpreneurs, focusing on strategies to make it through and succeed regardless of what life throws at us. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Business ownership = problem solving: Running a canine rehab business is a constant game of solving problems — the key is choosing the right problems to solve. Don't fear problems — create better ones: Rather than reacting to problems outside your control, aim to create problems that move your business forward, like needing to hire help because you're too busy. Busy schedule? That's a good problem: If your marketing works too well and you're overbooked, it gives you leverage to raise rates, hire help, or refine your services — all growth opportunities. Pricing fears are holding you back: Most rehabpreneurs undercharge due to fear of pushback. But starting with stronger rates creates better challenges to tackle (like demand management) rather than burnout from overworking. There's no prize for playing small: Choosing comfort over discomfort stunts your business. Growth requires leaning into uncomfortable situations like pricing, hiring, and marketing yourself. You can always adjust: Worried about setting prices too high? You can always course-correct — but most of the time, clients adapt when you focus on education and value. Surround yourself with a growth-minded community: Being around others who challenge your thinking and raise the bar helps shift your mindset from scarcity to confidence and expansion. You're always going to have problems — choose ones that create opportunity: The goal isn't a problem-free business. The goal is a business that creates better problems that lead to growth, freedom, and fulfillment. Are you interested in learning more about our K9Rehab Marketing platform? We will go live each day from Monday through Friday inside a private Facebook group, each day diving deep on one particular area of marketing that will help your canine rehab business. Here is the link to sign-up: https://onlinepethealth.com/getting-new-clients-challenge/ For today's podcast episode we touch base on the importance of measuring and tracking our numbers and KPIs when it comes to many aspects of the business, but in particular when it comes to marketing so we know what strategies are working or not working so we can adjust our marketing plan moving forward. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Numbers Tell a Story — So Track Them: Marketing isn't about guessing — it's about tracking what's working and what's not so you can make data-driven decisions. Avoid the Trap of the “Power of One”: Diversify like you would your financial portfolio — don't put all your eggs in one marketing basket. Use the 40/30/30 Rule for Lead Balance: Aim for 40% of leads from your primary source, 30% from a secondary source, and the final 30% from all other sources combined. Growth Comes from Long-Term Strategy: Diversifying lead sources takes time — especially building vet referrals — but it pays off in business stability and reduces risk. “Feeling Like” is Not a Marketing Strategy: Emotional decision-making based on gut feelings holds businesses back. Tracking real numbers creates clarity and direction. Start Measuring What Matters: Commit to tracking consistently to avoid emotional guesswork and build a resilient business. Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! Last fall we had a training inside our K9Rehabpreneur Community discussing the 5 pillars of a successful and sustainable canine rehab business, and given some of the economic and political landscape I thought it would be helpful to share that with all of our listeners. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: The tide has changed in the economy, and businesses that thrived in 2021–2022 without solid foundations are now being exposed. Sustainable growth depends on how we operate during hard times. Build relationships through marketing and nurture – Pet owners are still spending money, but only with businesses they trust. Relationship-based marketing that makes people feel heard is key to standing out and justifying your rates. Don't rely solely on word-of-mouth or vet referrals – They're great but unpredictable. Create a predictable lead generation system (e.g., Google ads, SEO) to maintain steady growth. Educate and nurture your leads – Offer helpful, free content (emails, blogs, workshops). Guide them with consistent follow-up after inquiry calls or form submissions, because people need time and reminders to make decisions. Keep investing in marketing, even during slow times – Marketing is the lifeblood of your business. Budget 5% of your desired revenue and treat it as an investment, not an expense. You're selling confidence and clarity – Especially now, clients need to feel confident in you and understand exactly how you'll help their pet. Use simple language and a clear framework to communicate your value. Are you interested in learning more about our K9Rehab Marketing platform? Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! We talk a lot about marketing and everything the comes with it because marketing is always going to be the driving force of any business, regardless if it is a canine rehab clinic or not. Without marketing there are no leads, without leads there aren't new customers, and without new customers there isn't revenue coming into the business. But, one thing I don't believe I have emphasized enough is how important it is for us to automate, and at times depending on where you are at with your business, delegate some of that marketing to someone else. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Marketing is the Driving Force: Without marketing, there are no leads, no new customers, and no revenue. Marketing is essential for sustainable business growth. Automate and Delegate Your Marketing: Automating marketing tasks and delegating them to skilled individuals can help you stay consistent without sacrificing patient care. Hiring Help Can Boost Marketing Efforts: Hiring people to manage tasks like blog writing, social media, and Google Ads can free up your time and improve your marketing impact. The Power of a Comprehensive CRM: Implementing a CRM system can streamline client management, automate follow-ups, and enhance client satisfaction. Integrated Marketing Platforms Save Time: Tools like the K9Rehab Marketing Platform offer social media management, email automation, and reputation management in one place, making marketing more efficient and effective. Last podcast episode focused on when and how to hire, and changing our mindset on it so we get the most from that situation. I got some great feedback from many of you, and with that mind I wanted to build up on that topic today and discuss how we can create an environment that will allow our team members to grow and succeed in their role. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Hiring is just the start — the real work is creating an environment where your team can grow and succeed. Managing people is a skill most of us haven't learned, but it's essential to grow a sustainable business. Culture matters as much as performance — a high-performing team member with poor culture can do more harm than good. Understand who you're working with — A, B, C, and D players all require different leadership approaches. People change over time — the “Twin A vs Twin B” concept shows why continued personal growth is critical. Personal accountability leads to growth — leaders must own their mistakes to improve team dynamics. The right fit leads to opportunity — when a role is aligned, team members look for ways to grow, not things to complain about. You can't do the work for them — you can create the space and support, but their success is ultimately up to them. Scaling Smart: When and How to Hire for Your Canine Rehab Business

Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! Through the years we have mentored and helped many different canine rehabpreneurs in a variety of different business models. Some of them were just getting started, others were growing and working through going solo to having a team, and others already had a facility with multiple staff members and were trying to figure out how to make their business more efficient and profitable. The thing to keep in mind is that regardless of the circumstances we need to develop a business model that works for us, keeping in mind our personal goals and how the business aligns with that. Because of that, some of us may want to stay small, either as mobile therapists or with a small space, while others may want to grow a larger space with many staff members. However, no matter if you are big or small, at one point you will encounter a challenge with business growth and sustainability so the business doesn't necessarily revolve 100% around you, and usually speaking those challenges with be related to finances or staff. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Business Growth Comes with Challenges – Whether you're just starting, hiring your first team member, or scaling an established practice, business growth requires financial and strategic planning. Hiring Should Solve a Problem, Not Just Add a Role – Instead of asking "How much should I pay?", focus on what hiring someone will allow you to do and what problems they will solve for your business. Your Time is Your Most Valuable Asset – Hiring should eventually free up your time, but it won't happen instantly. You need to invest in onboarding and training before you can truly reap the benefits. You Can Only Optimize for One Business Phase at a Time – Choose between revenue/survival, profit, growth, or stability. Trying to grow while maintaining the same level of profit is a common mistake. Growth Requires Investment – Expanding your business often means spending money before making more money. You may need to reinvest profits, secure a loan, or bring in an investor, each with its own trade-offs. Avoid Funding Growth from Your Operations Account – If you deplete your financial cushion without a solid plan, it leads to stress and instability. Be strategic with financial decisions. Success Comes from Having a Clear Plan – Hoping things will change by taking things day by day creates unnecessary stress. A clear growth strategy will help you stay focused and reduce financial anxiety. Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! The life of a rehabpreneur can be extremely fulfilling yet at the same time extremely challenging. Owning a business certainly isn't easy, and it brings a set of challenges that that will be different than any other job or position we had before. But what can we do to face those challenges? Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Three Solutions to Any Business Challenge – Accept it, walk away, or change your perspective. Every problem falls into one of these categories. The Illusion of Shortcuts – Many business owners look for an easy way out, but real success comes from accountability, not convenience. Challenges Don't Get Easier—You Get Stronger – The moment you stop waiting for things to get easier and start taking ownership, you'll make better decisions. Business Should Support Your Life, Not Take From It – Build a model that aligns with your vision, rather than allowing your business to become a burden. Success Requires Patience and Long-Term Commitment – Instant gratification doesn't lead to sustainable success. Growth takes time, persistence, and consistency. Accountability is the Key to Progress – Be accountable to yourself, your purpose, and your daily actions to achieve your definition of success. Stop Kicking the Can Down the Road – Address challenges head-on instead of delaying decisions that could move your business forward. Evolving Leadership: Why Yesterday's Strategies Won't Build Tomorrow's Success

Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! No matter if you are just starting your business, already have an established business along with a team, or you are growing your solo practice and hiring your 1st or 2nd team member, it is important for all of us business owners to understand that in order for us to move our business forward we will need to always be working on becoming a better leader. But how can we do so? What things do we need to focus on to make sure that we are leading with integrity? Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Leadership is a Skill You Must Continuously Develop – No matter what stage your business is in, becoming a better leader is key to moving forward. Growth requires making decisions even when you don't have all the answers. Momentum is Critical – An object in motion stays in motion. Keep moving forward, even when things feel uncertain. Losing momentum makes it much harder to restart. Courage is a Muscle – Every time you avoid a tough decision, you weaken your ability to lead with confidence. Just like building physical strength, consistently challenging yourself strengthens your "courage muscle." You Can't Win Today's Game with Yesterday's Strategies – The business decisions that worked when you started won't necessarily work as you grow. Evolve your approach as your business and responsibilities expand. Take Advice from Those Who've Walked the Path – Seek mentorship and guidance from people who have successfully navigated the challenges you're facing, not just those who talk about it. Your Next Level is on the Other Side of the Decision You're Avoiding – Fear, comfort, and hesitation often hold us back from making the choices that will truly move our business forward. If You Want More, You Need to Plan for More – Success doesn't happen by accident. Set time aside to reflect, plan, and take strategic action. No One Else Can Make the Decision for You – The path to growth is yours to choose, but it requires courage, commitment, and a willingness to step into the unknown. Money Mindset Mastery - How to Charge What You're Worth in Canine Rehab

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 27, 2025 29:12

Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! Recently we had an Incubator Mastermind call where we focused on Money Mindset Shifts for Canine Rehabpreneurs. I have mentioned this before, but shifting my money mindset was something I really struggled with during my 1st or so year in business, and personally I really enjoy talking about that topic with clients, mentees, or during any training session or lecture because it is a topic so many canine rehabpreneurs really struggle with regardless of how long they have been in business. During that call we covered many different topics related to money mindset, and I wanted to discuss a few of those things with you all today. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Charge Based on Value, Not Time: Stop selling minutes and start selling transformation and outcomes for your clients and their pets. Reframe Selling as Helping: Selling isn't about convincing; it's about offering a solution to someone who genuinely needs your expertise. Understand Why Potential Clients Say No: The main reasons are often a lack of trust and, surprisingly, prices that are too low. Selling is a Transfer of Trust: Focus on building trust, clarity, confidence, and positive energy during every interaction. Nurture Relationships Over Time: Not every lead is ready to buy immediately. Build a follow-up and nurturing system to convert hesitant leads over time. The Danger of Being ‘Too Cheap': Low prices can lead to distrust and undervaluing your services. Pricing higher can actually attract the right clients. You Are the Specialist: Stand out by positioning yourself as a rehab specialist, not just another option among general practices. Charge What You Need to Charge: Set prices that allow you to build a sustainable business, hire staff, and create a work-life balance that prevents burnout. Mindset is Everything: Overcome the fear of rejection and the false beliefs that may hold you back from charging what you're worth. Embrace a Real Marketing Strategy: Focus on educating potential clients about your unique value and nurturing trust, rather than just advertising services. Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! One of the things I often hear from canine rehabpreneurs is the challenging on managing our time in an efficient and effective way, especially when we are seeing patients while trying to run a business at the same time. Yes, that is a challenge, and it often gets in the way of us doing the things we need to do to help our business grow because we end up getting so ingrained with the day-to-day of what needs to be done, both with patients but also with administrative tasks. The reality is that our biggest challenge is not the time it takes to complete a certain task, but usually the time it takes for us to get emotionally ready or in the right head space to do so. That is the key concept to understand and the reason why we so often think “I don't have the time”... we do have the time, but we don't have the time to get emotionally ready to do so. Most of us are familiar with P.T. Barnum due to movie "The Greatest Showman" with Hugh Jackman, and just from that movie alone there is already so many lessons that we can take away. However, as you start to read and learn more about P.T. Barnum and understand how ahead of his time he was you realize that there is a lot more to him beyond the movie which helps us understand how much of a visionary he truly was. For today's episode we discuss some of those business and marketing lessons there are still super relevant today, even though that all took place 150+ years ago! Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! I bet many of us will have goals and aspirations of what we want to achieve in 2025, and a lot of us will get excited for a new year and the premise of a new beginning, but at the same time, we must ask ourselves "what are we doing to plan for that?". If you want 2025 to be different than 2024, then the first step you need to take is review what you have accomplished this year, both from a number and metrics perspective, and reflect back on what went right and why that worked, what went wrong and why it went wrong, what you can learn from it, what stopped you from having a better year….basically, before we look forward we need to look backwards, and then we can start planning as to how we want 2025 to pan out. With that being said, a goal without a plan is just a wish and at the same time as we make our plans, we also need to some things in mind that I wanted to share with you all today. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: How do we keep momentum going and why our daily actions will lead us towards our goals Why we need to be careful with instant gratification, and instead need to set realistic timelines and expectations Why achieving what we want requires a series of continuous, steady, consistent actions How generalizations kills clarity and the importance of setting up a game plan The difference between tactical and strategic planning, and how to leverage them to our advantage Join our Canine Rehabpreneur Community: www.facebook.com/groups/k9rehabpreneur/ Download our fee calculator and training: https://thek9pt.mykajabi.com/Fee-calculator Download our 'marketing done easy' worksheet and training: https://www.k9ptacademy.com/marketing-done-easy ... Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! Over the last few months, I have chatted with many canine rehab therapists who are thinking about opening their own business, some of them are not even finished with their certification yet, and a common question I get is when do I think would be a good time to start working on their business. To be honest, when starting a business the easy part is creating the LLC, getting the equipment that you need, and make sure you have the basics set up so you can start seeing patients… the hardest part is actually building up the marketing and sales strategies that will be vital for someone to build a successful business, and of course those things don't happen overnight, and just as important will be for someone to start working on their mindset and personal development which will also shift when we go from being an employee to becoming a business owner. Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! During a recent call I had with our Incubator Mastermind mentees we discuss the concept of embracing our reality so we can turn our pain and challenges into growth opportunities. Personally, I am not a big fan of the whole “no pain, no gain” mentality. I get where it came from and how that is meant to make us want to push harder, but that mentality with entrepreneurs and business owners usually leads towards a mindset of simply working harder and harder rather than focusing on working on the right things, and ultimately this mindset of simply thinking that working harder and harder will get us where we want to be is what often lead towards us getting stuck in a hamster wheel of business ownership where we are just going through the motions. I wanted to share with you all a couple of takeaways from that call with our mentees, so listen to the full episode as we discuss: The importance of accepting reality as it is, and not as we wish it to be How failure to accept our reality will lead towards cloudy judgement and decisions Why we need to seek our truth as uncomfortable as that may be How our pain and challenges reveal our limitations and help expose our own weaknesses Turning our pain and challenges into growth opportunities Join our Canine Rehabpreneur Community: www.facebook.com/groups/k9rehabpreneur/ Download our fee calculator and training: https://thek9pt.mykajabi.com/Fee-calculator Download our 'marketing done easy' worksheet and training: https://www.k9ptacademy.com/marketing-done-easy ... The Key to Success in Entrepreneurship

Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! I am back from vacation and during that break I had the opportunity to do some reading and reflecting, and for today's episode I wanted to share some of my thoughts about the key to success in entrepreneurship. When I first became an entrepreneur and business owner my mindset was about “owning a job”, meaning having enough clients and patients on my own to simply cover the take home pay that I would otherwise have as a human physical therapist. However, 1-2 years into this journey I realized that I had to elevate my mindset when it came to it, otherwise I ran the danger of getting caught in a hamster wheel of simply owning a job rather than owning a true business. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: Why most of the success in your life will come from understanding how and why to do the thing, and not from doing the thing itself The importance of understanding that we are not in the canine rehab business but in the customer service business and we just happen to provide canine rehab as that service How the fundamental principles of how to be successful has never changed, and why we need to master those principles How to shift our mindset from simply working harder and harder, and stop wearing the "busiest person" badge of honor The fallacy of developing passive income, and why that pursuit often gets in the way of us achieving the success that we want with our business ... Time vs Choice Management

It is safe to say that one of our biggest struggles as entrepreneurs and business owners is time management, especially when it comes to work-life balance and setting our boundaries. The year of 2023 and the first few months into 2024 were challenging due to changes we had at the clinic, especially when it came to staff which pulled me back into spending more time directly on patient care compared to what I had planned, and that made me realize that before parenthood I was able to compensate and push forward because I simply had more available time on my day… on my week.. or my month. Well, that was no longer the case and I had to be more direct and purposeful with my time, which has led me to reflect back on something I have discussed with our Incubator Mastermind students before: time management vs choice management. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: how to shift our priorities and why it is more about choice rather than time management why we should get extreme clear on our goals and priorities the importance of expanding the box around us rather than setting hard boundaries how to maximize our energy my defining our non-negotiables how to become more productive with our time ... What false beliefs are we telling ourselves

Let's dive deep into a personal development topic that I feel can make such a huge impact into how we operate our lives and our businesses: false beliefs. In today's world we are bombarded with information from social media, news, TV, etc... although that is not a bad thing, it can also lead towards us hearing some the same false beliefs over and over again. Technology has also helped us surround ourselves with colleagues who are online, which is great because sometimes it can feel very lonely out there as a canine rehab therapist and business owner, but we also need to be careful with what is getting discussed on those forums so we don't feel trapped by false beliefs. Listen to today's episode as we discuss: why our brain wants to keep us in the "comfort zone" allowing us to create these false beliefs we tell ourselves how to rise above false beliefs, and prove everyone (including ourselves) wrong The #1 false belief for canine rehab therapists: raising our prices and worrying about people's willingness to pay what we are worth will people spend money on rehab during harder economic times? Yes, but they will want to make sure they are getting value in return why selling a commodity or modality of treatment is not the answer how to put systems in place and develop a mindset that will lead towards a thriving and sustainable canine rehab business ...
