Nico & TK take a special holiday break -- to recover from last holiday break -- by examining two issues that intersect with their project -- one MC2 adjacent and the other a response to last episode! First up, join the two for a look at Amazing Spider-Man #420, a holiday issue featuring a very gay Nate Grey (0:00:00)! Then, it's a look at the Marvel Holiday Special 2011's 4th story focusing on the Jewish heroes of the Marvel Universe celebrating in their own way! It's all this and more on an all new X Is For Podcast -- we hope you survive the experience!

Time to break out that holly, eggnog, and mistletoe, we need to have ourselves a merry little holiday party with The Loners. Don't be too confused, this all makes perfect sense. See, we are releasing this July, with the sun blazing and the total lack of snow. This is the perfect time to think about all things winter, and cold, and not hot. OK, I am stretching to make this make sense, but whatever...just go with it. You know, I do a lot for you people. I give and I give and I give....and I try to make things original. You know, sitting here writing is really hard. Maybe I am just whining. Maybe I just want to be out and about. Maybe I am antsy to go camping but I decided to tie myself up with a couple of recordings right before I was supposed to leave. Maybe I should just kick someone in the face. Nah, that is too mean. I should just be like Julie, happy to be hanging with my friends...and flying. Wait a minute! I CAN'T FLY! Happy (non) Holidays to you all. Marvel Holiday Special (1991)Happy holidays everyone! In the spirit of the season, we are taking a look at Marvel's — apparently — first-ever holiday special. It's a collection of short, relatively wholesome stories but there's some insanity in here as well. Like Santa being a mutant. Or Captain America finding out Bucky has an estranged sister. Or the Blob having a fetish for department store mannequins. Bet you didn't see that one coming. Also, SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME spoilers exist within....take noteContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield and email the show at worstcollectionever@gmail.com

It's another deep dive into a Holiday Special. This time Jace takes a look at Marvel's 1992 seasonal offering with tons of stories rooted in the 90's. Many of the stories have context for the characters ongoing title of the time with the same creative teams that are on those titles. It makes for an interesting read at times and will certainly be a trip down memory lane for fans who were reading those title at the time, especially the New Warriors story. Meanwhile the silent Wolverine Story that kicks off the book is outstanding and an instant classic. The Spider-Man has some great Steve Lightle art & the Doc Samson story is good for a few laughs. All in all, not the best holiday offering from Marvel but definitely worth a read.
The holidays are all about tradition and nostalgia, and for this week's episode Comfort Food Comics: The Podcast is taking everyone back to the bygone era of 1991. Join us as we discuss and rank the first Marvel Christmas anthology with Marvel's Holiday Special (1991).

Now, we look at where later writers guided both the evolution of Marvel’s Merry Mutants and Kitty Pryde’s own Judaism. Excelsior! This episode we review: 1. Marvel Holiday Special 1996 2. It's Xmas in July! X-Men #48, back in 1968, ended with a promise that Beast and Iceman would fight Metoxo the Lava Man the very next issue, but it never happened... until 1994, when Kurt Busiek told the story of this Xmas tale from years before. Join Chad and returning guests Connor Goldsmith (of Cerebro!) and Sara Century (of Bitches on Comics!) as they interview the wonderful Marvel Comics editor Annalise Bissa! Tons of nerdy X-Men goodness from all corners of the X-universe, and then classic Beast and Iceman in both the 60s and 90s! And some fine X-Men poetry to finish it off!
