We're thrilled to mark this milestone with none other than Shareef Abdur-Rahim, a former NBA All-Star, Olympic gold medalist, and current President of the NBA G League. Shareef's incredible journey from professional athlete to business leader is packed with lessons on leadership, personal growth, and making an impact. Reflecting on the Journey Beyond the Court In this milestone episode, Shareef shares how he transitioned from a celebrated NBA career into a dynamic role on the business side of sports. From his time as a player to leading the NBA G League's expansion to 31 teams and its first international team in Mexico City, Shareef reveals how he embraced change and built on his strengths to create a meaningful second act. For leaders and entrepreneurs, Shareef offers valuable insights into the importance of setting a clear vision, leading by example, and building trust within a team. He emphasizes that leadership isn't always about charisma—it's about consistency, care, and a shared commitment to success. The Power of Personal Branding Shareef discusses the importance of personal branding, especially for young professionals and athletes. In today's social media-driven world, understanding and leveraging your brand can open doors to lifelong opportunities. Shareef shares practical advice on how to balance authenticity with strategy to build a brand that aligns with your values and goals. This episode also highlights the incredible ability of sports to bring people together, regardless of background or beliefs. Thank you for being part of our journey to 200 episodes! This special conversation with Shareef Abdur-Rahim is packed with inspiration, and we can't wait for you to listen. Soundbytes 11:54-12:20 "I think the ability to be able to one outline a vision for people, you know, I just think our coach meeting us at the beginning saying, Okay, this is our objective. So being able to outline a vision of where you want to go, a plan, to articulate a plan."  15:51-16:22 "I think it starts with education, especially for young people. We're in an era of name, image, and likeness opportunities, and the social media boom has opened so many doors. It's incredible to see young athletes, even as early as high school, learning to leverage these opportunities to build something lasting for their future." 20:55-21:20 "One of the great things about sport is how it humbles you naturally. Being part of a team teaches you that your success relies on others. It's about understanding the necessity of working together, recognizing the value of everyone's contributions, and staying grounded in the process." _____________________________________ Quotes "The power of sport is its ability to bring communities together, regardless of background or beliefs." "Leadership starts with outlining a vision, crafting a plan, and exemplifying the behavior you want to see." "As athletes, we must leverage our experiences to build something meaningful for life beyond the game." _____________________________________ Links mentioned in this episode: From Our Guest Visit Shareef Abdur-Rahim's Website: https://Shareefabdurrahim.com Connect with Shareef on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shareef-abdur-rahim/ Learn more about Future Foundation: https://future-foundation.com Connect with brandiD Download our free guide to learn 16 crucial website updates that attract more leads and convert visitors into clients: https://thebrandid.com/website-tweaks/ Ready to elevate your digital presence with a powerful brand or website? First issue of the new volume! Are you excited? Are you entertained? The answer is a surprising yes. I mean, Matt Fraction! C'mon now, this shall be interesting if not funny. Plus, more content!!!! Yeah, baby! New beginning, means new storyline and new characters? But, I just got to really know the Fantastic Four. It only took me 50 years to get to really know them...do I really need to learn about new people? I guess we need to talk about where the Terrific Three plus One are going and why they will not be here. But I think you should listen to our show or read the comic to figure out those reasons. That is my opinion, and I am making this web page, so that is what we will do. What about these new people....who are they, why are they here, what does mac and cheese taste like on the moon? Some of these questions can be answered now, some will never be known, unless we go back to the moon. I guess we can say that one guy is Ant Man. He changes sizes and steal things. We do have She Hulk back, so that is a big plus. It is great to have a little bit of green on the team. It would be better if they had green money, or gold, or a platinum credit card. Without that, a lawyer who can work some pro bono and punch villains is always a plus. Royalty time. We have Medusa from the Inhumans who is taking a bit of a sabbatical from being a queen to becoming one of four. She does bring a bit of class and conditioner into the team. She also brings along her own hair nets, so that is good. Val and Franklin are going with the Fantastic Four so I guess we don't need to talk about them. We should talk about Darla, but she really is showcased next issue, so we can ignore her for now. See, this is fun, right? I guess that leaves the rest of the Future Foundation. The kids are all still here, including our favorite boy, Alex Power...and our second favorite boys Leech and Artie. We like seeing them. They are nice. So, there we go. We have a new series, more issues, more storylines....and more fun! Let's suit up and riot!   Check out the art we have been talking about here: https://jeffandrickpresent.wordpress.com/2024/11/27/ff-v2-1-parts-of-a-whole/   We also have some merchandise over at Redbubble. And we did it. We made it to the last issue of FF. What a fun little series. Hickman put together some compelling stories and weaved them through this and Fantastic Four. We should take a moment to think about what we learned from our review of this series, FF, over this past year or so. Time has been spent on this book, and beer has been drunk. That all being said, what has been read and what has been discussed. We started with everyone thinking that the Human Torch was dead, and the hiring of one Mr. Peter Parker aka Spider-Man. This changed the team dynamics and beat of the team. We started with the team at a low point, but we end with a stronger and more knowledgeable family. There was also the introduction of the Future Foundation. This is the team that has our boy Alex having something mover tangible than what happened to him in the New Warriors, but not by much. At least he was treated like he had intelligence and not just a paper weight. But the Future Foundation was a great idea. A group of smart kids solving the world's problems. They were a weird group of punks who brought something different to the conversation.  THe ensemble could have been used more effectively at certain points, but it was not bad.  We discovered that AIM (Advanced Idea Mechanics) having the bright idea to free The Wizard from prison and making him their leader proves that their ideas really aren't too advanced as they gave him back at the end of the series and asked for a do over. We learned that having Spider-man on your team is a great idea, while having Dr. Doom is an occasionally good idea if you can stand the Doomness of him. Also, inviting The Wizard, Diablo, The Mad Thinker and The High Evolutionary to stand with you for some out of the box thinking is a great way to to get betrayed and stabbed in the back when the chips are down by people that you just fed lunch to.  A surprising number of issues deal with Black Bolt and The Inhumans interacting with the Supreme Intelligence and the Kree...we both found these issues, storylines and interactions to be boring, unwelcome and a distraction from important things, like what the Future Foundation kids are up to in their own title. Unfortunately, what they are often up to is standing off to a side, quietly observing the actions of other characters while storylines unfurl around them and their contributions amount to them being able to say that they were there too. Speaking of surprises, a surprising number of beings were turned into pets. Dr. Doom to a multiversal Reed Richards, a couple of multiversal Reed Richards' to a Supreme Intelligence, Johnny Storm to Annihilus, Annihilus to a resurrected Johnny Storm, and Galactus to a Franklin Richards. All in all it was a fun series and a worthwhile read, but it really shined when it dealt with the title holders of this series, the kids. Their developments, their growths, their failings and their foibles, their interactions and all the things that make them the foundation of the future.    Check out the artwork at: https://jeffandrickpresent.wordpress.com/2024/10/29/ff-23-run/   We also have some merchandise over at Redbubble. Do you ever feel completely lost? Yeah… me too. But hey, that's why we have mall kiosks and little red dots to comfort us and tell us exactly where we are… and how far we must traverse to reach the Gap or the food court. For me, life has been this crazy twist of events that are beyond all measure of comprehension. Where I started, where I have been, what I am, what I am not, what I get to do, where I am, and to God knows where I am going - this life feels akin to a Jackson Pollock painting. To be direct, I don't understand it at all. And the older I find myself the more I find I am sure that I know much less than I ever really thought I knew. Hi… I'm Chris. We might have met somewhere along the way. Or perhaps we've known each other for some time now. Regulation, supply chains, climate justice, employee burnout: The big challenges facing sustainability professionals

ESG Insider: A podcast from S&P Global

Last week, a few thousand sustainability professionals gathered for the annual GreenBiz conference hosted by GreenBiz Group. In this episode of the ESG Insider podcast, we're on the ground talking with panelists and attendees about the biggest challenges and opportunities facing the space — from regulation, disclosure requirements and supply chains to environmental justice, employee wellbeing and burnout.   Many attendees expressed frustration and a general sense of being overwhelmed by the pace of change and the challenges facing the sustainability space. In the face of this uncertainty, the message from many panelists was: Whatever the topic, you have to start somewhere.   We hear from Kentaro Kawamori, CEO of climate software firm Persefoni, who urges companies to avoid “analysis paralysis.”  “You've just got to get started. And if you're searching for perfect, you're never going to find it,” Kentaro says.  We talk to Deloitte's Kristen Sullivan and Evan Harvey, who led a three-hour, standing-room-only climate disclosure bootcamp at the conference to help companies understand how proposed rules from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission could impact them.    “As we were wrapping up, we were trying to get a pulse on the audience in terms of... did this help you feel more prepared, this type of a session?” Kristen says. “The answer was ‘yes — and at the same time, I'm really scared.'”   We also speak to Yinka Bode-George, CEO of environmental justice-focused nonprofit Sustain our Future Foundation.   "People are getting the idea that environmental justice is not just this nice-to-have, it's actually a really central component of winning on the climate crisis and putting forward the most effective solutions," Yinka tells us.  In the episode, we also sit down with Tim Mohin, the former CEO of international standards organization the Global Reporting Initiative, or GRI; Nasdaq Global Head of ESG Solutions Randall Hopkins; UPS Sustainability Director Stakeholder Engagement Elba Pareja-Gallagher; Zack Parisa, CEO of forest carbon marketplace the Natural Capital Exchange, or NCX; and Jared Connors from supply chain sustainability management company Assent.  S&P Global Sustainable1 was a sponsor of the GreenBiz conference.  Listen to our episode on the SEC's climate disclosure rule here: https://www.spglobal.com/esg/podcasts/unpacking-implications-of-the-sec-s-proposed-climate-disclosure-rule  We'd love to hear from you. On this episode, Ami Kassar interviews Jeff Berkowitz, founder and CEO of Delve, on assessing political and reputational risks — and what those can do to businesses that don't take them seriously. Jeff is the founder and CEO of Delve, Washington's preeminent competitive intelligence and risk advisory firm. Delve helps heavily regulated and highly scrutinized sectors − including energy and utilities, life sciences, financial services, and beyond − anticipate and mitigate public affairs challenges. Founded in 2015, Delve specializes in helping companies, industry groups, and advocacy coalitions stay ahead of the curve on the political and reputational risks and opportunities at the intersection of policy and business. Today, the firm provides high-stakes counsel and insights to C-suite executives, public affairs professionals, and their teams across a range of sectors. Recognized by POLITICO as an “opposition research and policy ace” and "one of the best-known policy and opposition researchers in D.C." by The Daily Beast, Jeff previously served as the Research Director of the Republican National Committee (RNC), where he served three tours under four chairmen across five election cycles. At the RNC, Jeff helped to craft the GOP response to current events and long-term initiatives, ranging from Supreme Court nominations to Obamacare to the Dodd-Frank financial regulations. Jeff also served on staff or advised on five major presidential campaigns and has shepherded research and messaging operations at The White House, the U.S. Department of State, and several prominent private sector and non-profit organizations. As a member of the Forbes Business Council and a leader in the Entrepreneurs' Organization, Jeff provides both commentary and guidance to businesses and industries of all sizes. He also sits on the board of the America's Future Foundation, a nationwide network fostering the next generation of liberty-minded leaders. Recorded 11/18/2022.

Living within your means not only involves taking care of the expenses you incur today but also preparing for expenses you're likely to incur down the road. We'll talk about that today on MoneyWise. As we've said many times, there are only five basic things you can do with money: you can earn it, you can use it to live on, you can give some away, you can pay it to people you owe such as a debt payment or taxes or you can invest it so that it will grow for the future. Those five things are easy to remember: earn, live, give, owe, and grow. On our Monday programs as we start a new week, we often focus on one of those foundational five things. Today, it's the live category, using money to live on. When we say money to live on, you probably think of gas, groceries, your electric bill those regular expenses that occur day-to-day or month-to-month. But we want to focus on another aspect of money to live on, and that's paying for things that are not regular expenditures. And this is where many people get tripped up in their finances: they fail to set aside enough money for future expenses. PLANNING FOR THE UNPLANNED Sometimes, we don't know about those things in advance, at least not specifically. For example, you don't know if your car will develop transmission trouble six months from now. But you do know your car is likely to need some kind of maintenance in the months ahead. So it's wise to set aside a certain amount of money each month in an auto repair fund so that when that expense occurs, you have money to pay for it. The late Larry Burkett used to call this planning for unplanned expenses. You may not know what's going to happen or when it's going to happen, but you can be pretty sure that at some point, something will go wrong with a car, or a furnace, or a lawn mower, or something. And if you don't have money set aside, those unplanned expenses can create a bit of a financial crisis. This is why is so important that when you set up your budget, you build in savings for emergencies. An even better approach is to get more precise about it with separate savings accounts for different things, such as one for general emergencies and one each for home repair and auto repair. That may sound complicated, but it's not. Several online banks including Capital One and Discover Bank allow you to easily set up multiple savings accounts with no minimums or fees so you can segregate your savings for different types of unplanned expenses and keep it all straight. Well, let's move now from unplanned expenses to expenses we know about in advance and often don't prepare for. PLANNING FOR OTHER EXPENSES This is September, and we have news for you: Christmas is just a little more than three months away! Now, from when you and I were little kids we've always known when Christmas is, and yet every year, it seems to take people by surprise financially. Christmas comes, but they're not ready for Christmas-related spending. Extra expenses at Christmas are common, not only for gifts but for things like a Christmas tree, replacement lights, maybe seasonal entertainment, or a trip to visit relatives. It adds up. Are you preparing for those expenses? People who are really good at managing money often start setting funds aside in January for Christmas-related expenses. And that's not a bad idea. But even if you didn't start back then, you can start now. By setting aside money in September, October, November, and early December, you'll have a pool of money for Christmas-related things. So, where do you get the money to set aside for Christmas? There's only one way: Adjust your spending. You have to not spend money on other discretionary expenses between now and Christmas. This involves making a commitment: I am not going to spend money on this or that now because I am saving it for Christmas spending later. Or, We're not going to go out to eat this week. Instead, we're going to save that money for Christmas. We understand that restraining your spending can be challenging, so it helps to have a clear goal in mind, such as being able to buy gifts and do other things you want to do at Christmastime without going into debt. So here is what we want you to remember today: When you think about money to live on, think beyond your regular expenses to those that occur only every so often, whether it's fixing your furnace or buying gifts at Christmas. Being able to live in the future, so to speak, is crucial to achieving long-term financial health and stability. On today's program, Rob also answers listener questions: ● How do you determine the value of a business and go about selling a business? ● What should you consider when trying to determine whether to purchase an investment home? ● How do you figure out the wisest way to use savings? Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000 or email them to Questions@MoneyWise.org. 0:20 LincFrozen 2 has been accused by South Korea of breaching their monopoly laws, and have talked about limiting films to no more than 50% of their screens at any time. The potential snowball effect of this could affect Marvel films, given the action is directed at Disney writ large. The worse long-term effect is that other countries may follow suit, and if big Marvel consumers such as China, Germany and Mexico do, it could seriously impact the future box office potential. You've opined that Endgame will likely never be beaten in the box office due to market forces. So you think this is another previously unseen one? Are you concerned for what this might portend?8:58 David RosenIn addition to your theory about the vest that Natasha is sporting in Infinity War, do you think her blonde hair could also a tribute to Yelena? And whether it is or not, do you think the movie ends with her blonde hair?16:10 Steven84Who are your favorite picks for Fantastic Four villains aside from Doctor Doom?18:02 Woo S KimWhen do you think the first Eternals teaser will come out?18:41 Steven 84How would you feel if the term Fantastic 4 was only played as a light hearted joke, and the FF were only referred to “in universe “ as members of the Future Foundation?21:48 Woo S KimNot that this is a new concept in The Marvel Cinematic Universe, but do you think with even more characters in the MCU, do you think for example if Storm marries T'Chalia she will be more a member of The Avengers going forward or Ben Grimm becomes a Guardian of The Galaxy like in the comics, did you enjoy this type of mixing and matching in the comics or do you think for the sake of a more non True Believer audience there will not be so many changes to MCU team rosters?25:49 LincGiven the talk of the dollar signs on the characters in Endgame, to ensure they'd maintain audience's interest, do you think this kind of calculated attention will be given to screentime for future teamups? There are many candidates as to which team might get the next major event movie, from Dark Avengers, Young Avengers, Champions, Thunderbolts, not to mention F4 and X-Men, but if the use of dollar signs is anything to go by, would you speculate that making Spider-Man even more central and integral to the next one is likely? Can you see him taking a leadership (or co-leadership) role in the next teamup, alongside (presumably) Strange, T'Challa and Danvers? And maybe even Richards?36:49 Woo S KimI can't shake this thought/feeling Sean that "Doctor Strange in The Multiverse" along with "WandaVision" is going to reveal the next Avengers level threat who and or whatever that will be, just due to how many characters will be in both, am I way off here, what say you, Sean?
