Dom welcomes in Michael Donohue, Special Counsel to Cape May County, back onto the Dom Giordano Program to hear about a new lawsuit filed by Ørsted, the Danish company responsible for the massive wind turbines being built off the Coast of Cape May County. Ørsted claims that county officials haven't fulfilled permitting requests and have repeatedly delayed their projects. Donohue takes us inside the negotiations between the company and the County, alleging that Ørsted would prefer to sue instead of meet for further negotiations. Donohue explains the impact on tourism that these windmills would have, claiming that there would be no view of the ocean from Cape May County that would not be obstructed by the giant eyesores. Also, Giordano and Donohue discuss the reaction to migratory birds, Piping Plovers, who were found on the beach, comparing the safety requirements of the bird to the continued refusal to even acknowledge whale and dolphin deaths at the shore.(Photo by Getty Images)
Full Hour | Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by breaking down new polling on policing in Philadelphia, broken down by demographic and neighborhood. Dom reveals that his beloved South Philadelphia has changed drastically, revealing that only 40% of South Philly residents support paying the police more. Then, Dom tells that he'll be joined by Mike Donohue, a Republican powerhouse in Cape May County, who has some information on the repeated whale deaths at the Jersey Shore. Then, Dom welcomes back J. Christian Adams of the Public Interest Legal Foundation onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss some questions that his foundation has about Al Schmidt and Pennsylvania voters who may not be United States citizens. Schmidt, who became prominent in the 2020 elections condemning any questions about election interference, called for transparency in voting rolls after testifying that he was briefed by the State Department on a study that determined there were over 100,000 non-citizens voting in Pennsylvania. PILF wrote an editorial for a Pittsburgh newspaper calling for Al Schmidt to fix the problem now that he sits as the Acting Secretary of State, with Christian explaining the runaround his organization has received when trying to understand why the issue has not been fixed by the person who raised the issue in the first place. Excerpt from Burn the Night Max had merged onto the highway, headed back downtown, when he realized what had happened. He sighed, checked his mirrors, and got off at the next exit. He’d dropped the three women off at an old Victorian in Manayunk. It was clear the three were drunk when he picked them up outside the bar, but only one of the three seemed very drunk. The fare from Center City was high enough that Max thought it was worth the risk that he’d be cleaning up vomit before he made the address. All three also seemed very young and it was getting late. He let them in the car. The drunkest girl had been predictably obnoxious and, given the increasingly sour faces of her friends as the trip progressed, Max guessed she was getting on their nerves, too. But, by the time he pulled up outside the slightly dilapidated, pink and white gingerbread on Carson, she’d kept down whatever she ate and drank that night. If it came up again, it would soon be someone else’s problem. He’d stayed and watched as her friends supported the woman up the steep set of stairs onto the house’s sagging front porch and navigated her inside. It was only now, approaching the city again from the northwest on 76E, with the green expanse of treetops from Fairmont Park to his right, that he realized she hadn’t kept it all in. She’d urinated all over the back seat. Max could almost see the statue of old Billy Penn shaking his head from atop City Hall at Max’s naivete. It explained the friends’ demeanors. With the drunk girl sandwiched in the middle, it must have gotten on both of them. At least he had their address, their actual address,
Often, in contemporary culture, we will hear talk of what is “my truth” and how we should never offer reasonable critiques of other worldviews. But is this subjective, relativistic approach to life actually true, let alone livable? Can we know what the objective meaning of the Bible is? How can we humbly approach what God communicated to us through the Old and New Testaments while also searching for what the author intended us to learn? It's time to Remember This Crap. Andy and Mike Donohue go over the long, distinguished history of the Atlanta Falcons, and mercifully do not mention Deion Sanders once. They do go through the strange history of Falcons' coaches committing career suicide, their impressive recent run of quarterbacks, a horrific day (for them) at Soldier(s) Field in 1985, why would any one name their kid Dick Shiner or June Sheldon Jones III? We relive a great Bears win over the Falcons in 2001 and a horrific loss to them in 2008, and that somehow detours in to a brief history of the Marc Trestman era. Luke 2:13-14/ Preacher: Mike Donohue
The hymn 'Make Me a Channel of Your Peace' found its way into weddings, funerals and school assemblies and in this week's 'Soul Music' we hear how it has also embedded itself into the hearts of peace campaigners, charity workers and reformed alcoholics. The simplicity of this hymn often belies the challenges at its heart. Its lyrics call for unconditional love and forgiveness in the toughest situations. The words are based on a poem which has often been attributed to St Francis of Assisi. However, Franciscan Historian, Dr Christian Renoux, suggests it was most likely to have been written by an anonymous French noble women. The poem travelled across the globe with translations published during the first and second world wars, subsequently bringing inspiration to public figures ranging from Mother Theresa to President Roosevelt. In 1967 it caught the eye of South African born musician and 'yogi' Sebastian Temple who put these words to its most famous musical arrangement. It's Sebastian's version that was played at Princess Diana's funeral and that has also touched the hearts of millions worldwide. Mathew Neville of children's charity 'World Vision' recalls his encounter with this hymn in the Democratic Republic of Congo, whilst closer to home Wendy and Colin Parry share their memories of this music and the role it played in remembering their son Tim, who was killed in the 1993 Warrington Bombings. In Minnesota former lawyer Mike Donohue reflects on how this hymn has guided him on a journey through alcohol abuse and dementia and Sarah Hershberg remembers her good friend Sebastian Temple, who first played this simple hymn in her front room before it went on to travel the world.
