Disclaimer: To avoid harmful polarization of important topics, this post is written in a non-partisan manner (in accordance with forum guidelines), and I'd encourage comments to be written similarly. US Presidential Elections are surprisingly tractable 1. US presidential elections are often extremely close. 1. Biden won the last election by 42,918 combined votes in three swing states. Trump won the election before that by 77,744 votes. 537 votes in Florida decided the 2000 election. 2. There's a good chance the 2024 election will be very close too. 1. Trump leads national polling by around 1% nationally, and polls are tighter than they were the last two elections. If polls were perfectly accurate (which of course, they aren't), the tipping point state would be Pennsylvania or Michigan, which are currently at +1-2% for Trump. 3. There is still low-hanging fruit. Estimates for how effectively top RCT-tested interventions to generate net swing-state votes this election range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars per vote. Top non-RCT-able interventions are likely even better. Many potentially useful strategies have not been sufficiently explored. Some examples: 1. mobilizing US citizens abroad (who vote at a ~10x lower rate than citizens in the country), or swing-state university students (perhaps through a walk-out-of-classes-to-the-polls demonstration). 2. There is no easily-searchable resource on how to best contribute to the election. (Look up the best ways to contribute to the election online - the answers are not very helpful.) 3. Anecdotally, people with little political background have been able to generate many ideas that haven't been tried and were received positively by experts. 4. Many top organizations in the space are only a few years old, which suggests they have room to grow and that more opportunities haven't been picked. 5. Incentives push talent away from political work: 1. Jobs in political campaigns are cyclical/temporary, very demanding, poorly compensated, and offer uncertain career capital (i.e. low rewards for working on losing campaigns). 2. How many of your most talented friends work in electoral politics? 6. The election is more tractable than a lot of other work: Feedback loops are more measurable and concrete, and the theory of change fairly straightforward. Many other efforts that significant resources have gone into have little positive impact to show for them (though of course ex-ante a lot of these efforts seemed very reasonable to prioritize) - e.g. efforts around OpenAI, longtermist branding, certain AI safety research directions, and more. Much more important than other elections This election seems unusually important for several reasons: There's arguably a decent chance that very critical decisions about transformative AI will be made in 2025-2028. The role of governments might be especially important for AI if other prominent (state and lab) actors cannot be trusted. Biden's administration issued a landmark executive order on AI in October 2023. Trump has vowed to repeal it on Day One. Compared to other governments, the US government is unusually influential. The US government spent over $6 trillion in the 2023 fiscal year, and makes key decisions involving billions of dollars each year for issues like global development, animal welfare, climate change, and international conflicts. Critics argue that Trump and his allies are unique in their response to the 2020 election, plans to fill the government with tens of thousands of vetted loyalists, and in how people who have worked with Trump have described him. On the other side, Biden's critics point to his age (81 years, four years older...

    Slam the Gavel welcomes back Brian Vukadinovich to the podcast. he is the author of Motion for Justice: I Rest My Case and Rogues in Black Robes. Brian was last on the podcast Season 4, Episodes 69, 99 and 119 and Season 5, Episodes 13 and 37.      On our show today and he will discuss his pending federal court lawsuit against a very famous judge, Richard A. Posner, formerly of the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit in Chicago where he was on the bench for almost 36 years before he retired in 2017 over disagreements with the other judges about how PRO SE'S were being TREATED in the Seventh Circuit.  He read about how Brian represented himself in a five day federal civil rights jury trial in 2016 and how Brian beat a team of corporation lawyers at the five day jury trial where he was awarded more than $200,000 by the jury for the school corporation's violation of his due process rights. When they terminated his employment as a teacher, and in 2018 Posner asked Brian to come work for him in his newly created company "Posner Center for Pro Se's" to help unrepresented litigants and agreed to pay Brian $120,000 a year to serve as the executive director of the Posner Center and to also provide advisory services to Posner in Posner's personal capacity.  But Posner REFUSED TO PAY  him for his work and Brian had to take him to court for BREACH OF CONTRACT.       Brian is representing himself and is battling lawyers from 3 DIFFERENT STATES (New York, Chicago and Indiana) in the case.  Recently, there was a hearing in the federal court and Brian tried to get the judge to take JUDICIAL NOTICE of a PERJURED AFFIDAVIT that the New York lawyer, Justin M. Ellis, signed under penalty of perjury.  When Brian tried to submit into evidence a CRUCIAL DOCUMENT that proved that the lawyer committed perjury on his affidavit, the magistrate judge, Joshua Kolar, initially didn't want to allow the document into evidence and abruptly adjourned the hearing.  EVERYONE was almost on their way out of the courthouse and to the door. Out of nowhere, a U.S. MARSHALL approached him and told him that the judge wanted everybody back in the courtroom.  The judge, after rethinking things over DECIDED TO ADMIT THE DOCUMENT into the record, and that's when it hit the fan: when the New York Lawyer started to WHINE and BACKPEDAL, trying to cover the perjury.       HOWEVER, magistrate judge, Joshua Kolar, has been NOMINATED to be a federal court of appeals judge at the U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago, the SAME COURT that Posner was at.  Brian gave us some thoughts about what he thinks about the nomination of Kolar for the U.S. Court of Appeals and gave information about the process involved with federal judge nominations and what takes place before they can be seated on the federal judiciary. What is a man? It's a question that can be both super easy and quite complex (depending on this context) but it is also one that demands an answer (ESPECIALLY in this current time)! You know we here on We Hate You Internet don't shy away from the hard stuff so we're going to do just that!!

IF.   I've been thinking about the word IF.  It a very small word.  Two letters.    But, such an important life-changing word as well.   Let me explain my thoughts behind this.   And no pun intended but IF you apply the condition of the word IF in your life, that is when action comes, rubber meets the road, results happen, growth happens, or things just get done.    What does that even mean?   Well, most recently I was using it in the context of the Bible.  The word IF just became that much more interesting to me as I began to see it once again as a very important word.  A vital word.  And a “this can be a life changer” word IF we do the right actions, the right results will come.   “IF” appears in the BIBLE a lot.  I mean a lot.  Promises are conditional on the “IF” we do. Now, that IF can be good, bad, wisdom filled or just the wrong decision. Possibly, no action at all on our part.  The results of that IF action will show in our life.   So, in our daily life, how important is what I will now coin the “IF” condition application of our life.  Let me be the first to say it to you…….It is VERY IMPORTANT!!   Do you have goals?  IF you do the steps, you will reach your goals.  If you don't, you won't.  That is pretty simple, right?   The principle is simple.  Sometimes the actions are not.  AHHH, there it is. The power of choice.   Do you have something you want in life?  IF you have a job, or spend the time, or do what it takes, can you not get the thing you want in life?   Do you have relationships?  IF you nurture them, spend time strengthening them, and caring for them, can they not improve? Can they suffer or even fail if not paid attention to or worked on?   Do you have a test to pass?  School or just a life test?  IF you study, improve skills, practice, will the grade improve?  Will you pass the test? Most likely yes, at least one time or another.   Do you have an issue in your life right now that you want to resolve?  IF you pray, choose right actions, get wisdom to make right choices, do research and use resources, could that issue become less of an issue or be resolved? I say an absolute yes.  If we ignore the issue and do nothing, could it get bigger? Absolutely.   Do you want health in your life?  IF you do healthy things in small ways and grow and practice in those, will your life not begin to get healthier?   Do you want to learn something new?  Trade or skill?  Hobby or just learn?  IF you surround yourself with people who could help you, support you, enroll in a class, read, could you not learn whatever you want?   Does this make our life perfect? No.  The truth is there are all kinds of scenarios if our life, all kinds of “but…...this, or but that” in our lives to argue any statement that I said in this podcast.   There always will be.  That will not change. This remains a fact in our lives.  Every day, we have choices to make, decisions to stay committed to, obstacles even in our mind and thoughts, and the IFS become choices that we make for ourselves consistently.   Do you have a challenge, an obstacle, a roadblock, or are having a bad month or year?    Here is the last IF of the podcast…..ready for it?   IF you choose to use obstacles as an opportunity to take the power of your choice, reflect on it to see different perspectives, and be determined to grow in the mess, that mess will become a message for others and your life will forever be changed.   That I will promise.   Thanks for joining!

Recently, a poll was conducted by the Wall Street Journal. To the extent it was accurate and representative, the poll contained some very interesting and alarming statistics.The poll revealed that only:38%Of Americans say that patriotism is:VERY IMPORTANT TO THEM.That alarming statistic, my fellow Americans, that incredibly low percentage is down from that of 1998 which at that time was:70%.38%, only somewhat more than 1 out of 3 Americans think that patriotism, loyalty to and belief in the one-of-a-kind America is very important. That to me is shocking. Are you one of those 3 or are you one of the 2 out of 3 who really don't think that patriotism matters that much? How sad, rather how tragic is this lack of loyalty and commitment to the greatest nation in the history of humankind.Small wonder we are adrift as a nation, deeply divided, woke to the point where this new way of thinking is destroying everything once assumed to be American, and in danger of losing our very country itself.President Thomas Jefferson once said that America from time to time needs to be REFRESHED, the tree of liberty did with the blood of real patriots. That is, we true Americans should be willing to fight for our country and our freedom if necessary. But if only 1 out of 3 of us really care about and believe in America, the other two and their different way of thinking will certainly prevail. The America we have known and loved and lived in for almost 250 years will be gone with the wind.This Wall Street Journal poll also found that only about 40% of all Americans believed that religion of any kind was:VERY IMPORTANT TO THEM. Two out of five Americans only, 2 OUT OF 5 believed that religion, that broad and all-inclusive word was very important to them. That lack of belief was literally unbelievable!Twenty-five years ago, 2 out of 3 Americans, some 65% believed that religion was VERY IMPORTANT to them. Now, says this poll, only 2 out of 5 Americans believe that instead of 2 out of 3. Small wonder, my fellow Americans and Christians, that theologians predict the END TIMES and surely the end of America as we know it.Further, found the poll, only 27% of Americans said that their community was VERY IMPORTANT to them, a percentage down from 62% in 2019. Don't you find that unbelievable, as I do? Similarly, tolerance for other people, the poll found, was very important to 80% of Americans just four years ago. Today it is, says the Wall Street Journal, just 58%!Twenty-five years ago it was normal, expected that Americans would feel pride in their country. Proud of America was the normal belief of the vast majority of WE THE PEOPLE. We were, America was, the country unrivaled, a dominant force in the world. We were proud of our ancestors, our history, our constitution, our rule of law. But now, woke and radically progressive teaching, teaches our children that America was founded in “sin” and essentially irredeemable. If children, become adults, are taught to believe that there is little or nothing good in our history and our past, that America is irredeemably evil, small wonder that so many Americans do not feel a proud and aggressive sense of:PATRIOTISM.For example, trans-gender extremists recently called for a:“DAY OF VENGENCE”in America. Politician Marjorie Taylor-Greene recently insisted that the Untied States must break up, blue states divorced from red. That is simply just another way of saying that America is hopeless, irredeemable and must be destroyed or at least divided. I hope that you are aware of these incredibly satanic forces at work in our country, that you resist and defend whenever you can, and that you are proud of and willing to fight the fight of faith as necessary as the radical changes in America predicted by Barack Hussein Obama, the incredibly evil George Soros and others occur and grow every day. Our, YOUR future is at stake.And yet another Wall Street Journal finding. Only 23% of American adults said that having children was very important to them. Less than 1 out of 4! Stunned at that finding, I discussed the finding with a very intelligent and bright woman who said to me point blank:“I REFUSE TO HAVE AND RAISE CHILDREN IN THE AMERICA AND THE WORLD IN WHICH WE LIVE!” Conservatives are silenced. They keep quiet out of fear of losing their jobs and other retribution from woke-progressives-radicals. Conservatives fear being shut out of advancement opportunities at work, mistreated by co-workers and bosses and even fired for voicing their beliefs. Censorship is everywhere. It affects everything and everyone.The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) reported that 88% of four-year colleges and universities now restrict the free expression of their students.The New York City Teachers Union sponsors a virtual workshop on fighting against the, are you ready for this:HARMFUL EFFECTS OF WHITENESS IN OUR LIVES.The bottom-line objective of course is the vague and misleading:DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION.I suppose it is not good today to be white, is it? It seems as though every other skin color matters except white. I, for one white, politely and passionately disagree!What a world! There seems to have been such radical change in values, morals, ethics and beliefs in our great country and the world at large. We are, my fellow Americans, like it or not, engaged in a spiritual, political, cultural and historical warfare like never before which threatens to tear our country apart and even destroy it. I am no prophet of doom, but a realist, I see what is happening as I am sure you do, knowing that there are so many who have no hope for this great country.I DO! I still believe the majority, perhaps the vast majority of Americans, are patriotic, are religious, and I hope that means Christian-Born-again, care about community and their fellow brothers and sisters and would count it an honor to bear and raise God-given children. I have that hope because I have:FAITH-HOPE-LOVEin the risen savior:JESUS CHRIST!HE is perhaps the only hope for peace, understanding, equity, and love. And of course, salvation and freedom, REAL FREEDOM.I love America and I am one of Thomas Jefferson's patriots who is willing to shed blood if necessary for the Tree of Liberty, for the America I love, and more importantly for:THE LORD I LOVE.I PRAY THAT YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE AS WELL!

This will undoubtedly be a two part series. Because I am unpacking a year long experience that I think has unending golden nuggets for all of you even if you never take this particular approach to your business. This is the story of me going all in with Facebook Ads for a year. Between the ads and the agency fee for the agency I worked with, I paid over $80,000.00 and they made me a grand total of $6,000.00 - that's me being generous. I can only confirm $4,000.00 but regardless. It was a clear loss. Now, I will not be mentioning the agency. That's here nor there. They certainly had their faults, but today is about MY LESSONS, TAKEAWAYS and most importantly WHAT YOU CAN LEARN FROM THEM. Much context is needed, so let's dive in and lay down a clear background. In January 2021 I launched my free on demand workshop, Your Biz Your Way - 3 steps to build a profitable online health and fitness business. It was a massive hit. Massive hit being the profitability of the workshop's 24 hour fast action bonuses driving workshop attendees to buy my FitsPRO Foundations Course. I hit my revenue and enrollment goals easily for the first half of the year, then it was clear I needed to venture into paid traffic - or so I thought. The woman who built my funnel was amazing. She saw my numbers after month one and said I was ready for ads right away. But the first month of anything is deceiving right? We see real, more indicative trends over time. So in June 2021 I set up a call with a Facebook ads agency that a friend and colleague of mine had used and was recommended by more than one person. The context of why this agency had been successful for these people became much clearer after a year of lessons. I seemed to be their ideal client and we began Facebook ads in September 2021. Why did I do ads? And what approach did we take? The reason and driving factor for pursuing ads was to create SPACE. I needed time and space to create Pure PROgramming and set up some other back end things I had planned for 2022 and beyond. I needed to be done with live launching. That was my driver. I was willing to lose all the money in order to definitively say this did or didn't work. I needed this particular “what if” off the table one way or the other. Let me tell you it is now off the table for a very good while. The agency handled EVERYTHING - I chose the completely done for you package - because again, I needed that. But this was ultimately a mistake. We targeting cold traffic most of the time. That was the plan. And this is VERY IMPORTANT to note and remember as I unpack all of my lessons. I generally prefer working with ONE HUMAN than a team or agency This is a very general lesson that I have learned from two clear cut experiences now in growing my business. I worked with a tax agency that I highly disliked, and now this. Perhaps it's a me thing. I don't deny that. But also I do think I just prefer a 1:1 interpersonal relationship, even if it IS with someone on a team or within an agency. I want a go to person and open communication. That's something that is unequivocally needed for me and the way my brain functions. I need education, to be a part of the process, and to understand things via information to feel safe and informed. This has become undeniable to me through these particular experiences. Knowing this about yourself is vital as a biz owner. And it may have to come through some less than ideal experiences. But good news is, it's data to help you move forward and make more aligned decisions. In hiring an “expert” in something, I need to keep one hand on the steering wheel. I need to keep MY VISION clear and be more forward with questions rather than “trusting them because they're the expert” In fact, fun story - it felt very much so like this agency and creative team was trying to fit me and my brand into their box or system and it wasn't working.
