Locked On Big 12 - Daily College Football & Basketball Podcast
The addition of BYU and Houston to the Big 12 certainly bolstered the conference's competitiveness in basketball. Both schools have strong basketball programs with a history of success. Here are a few reasons why the Big 12 became even more competitive with their inclusion:Strong Basketball Programs: Both BYU and Houston have historically successful basketball programs with strong coaching staff, talented players, and passionate fan bases. Their addition adds depth and quality to the conference's basketball lineup.Increased Depth: Adding two strong programs increases the overall depth of the conference, providing more challenging competition for every team in the Big 12. This heightened competition forces teams to elevate their game, leading to a more competitive environment overall.Geographical Fit: Both BYU and Houston are located in regions with a strong basketball culture. Houston, in particular, is in Texas, which is known for producing top basketball talent. This geographical fit enhances the competitiveness of the conference.TV Market and Revenue: Houston is a major media market, and BYU has a strong nationwide following, especially within the West. The addition of these schools not only strengthens the conference competitively but also increases its appeal to television networks, potentially leading to more lucrative broadcasting deals and increased revenue for all member schools.Recruitment Opportunities: Being part of a competitive conference can attract top-tier recruits who want to play against the best competition. The addition of BYU and Houston provides more opportunities for exposure and high-profile matchups, which can be enticing for recruits.Overall, the addition of BYU and Houston to the Big 12 significantly enhances the conference's competitiveness in basketball, making it one of the premier basketball conferences in college sports.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Episode 227 - Miss March (2009) Join Ben & Rob as they finish up some filmographies that they've previously started, and what better way to kick it off than with "Miss March"! Being Zach Cregger's only directorial effort before "Barbarian", it certainly is an incredibly different movie. But does it stand the test of time? Why was Playboy involved in this movie? Today on Art of the Cut, one of the most talked about films at the moment, the horror film, Barbarian, currently on HBOMax. With us to discuss this film today is Art of the Cut's first-ever guest host: multi-Emmy-winning editor, Stephanie Filo, ACE. Steph has been a guest on the show before and I saw her post several times about this film on Twitter as a self-proclaimed "fan-girl" of the film, so I thought with her knowledge of editing and her love of the film, she'd be the perfect co-host. Also with me are the film's writer/director, Zach Cregger and the film's editor Joe Murphy. Joe and I have one degree of imdb separation as we've both co-edited with Jamie Kirkpatrick. Stephanie Filo, ACE - my co-host - has edited A Black Lady Sketch Show, for which she won multiple Emmys and was nominated for an ACE Eddie. She also won a Peabody Award for her editing of the documentary Surviving R. Kelly. And edited the recent Dahmer series available on Netflix. Zach Cregger is probably best-known as an actor in TV series like The Whitest Kids U Know, and Wrecked, and the feature films, Miss March and College. Joe Murphy's credits as editor include the feature films Swallow, Don't Come Back from the Moon, We Summon the Darkness and The Sound and the Fury. Also, TV series like Kingpin and A Friend of the Family.
AJ and Steve sit down to discuss one of the best horror movies of the year! Barbarian directed by The Whitest Kids U' Know alum Zack Cregger who was also a co-director on the so bad it's good ‘Miss March' we take a look at how bonkers this horror film is and AJ discusses how this proves that comedy is the hardest genre of them all. We also believe Zack is an up and coming director that everyone should pay attention to. **Spoy Luh Hers** If you haven't seen this movie, and don't want to get it spoiled for you don't listen. It's a movie worth seeing blind. If you don't care and want to hear the good Zac Efron and booby jokes, hit play. We're talking about the feature debut of Zach Cregger, BARBARIAN (if you participate in Miss March erasure which Steve doesn't.) From the Whitest Kids U Know to the Bulgarian extras you don't, Zach delivers a film that is tense and paranoid. Then turns it on its head with ludicrous scenarios. Excellent performances from Bill Skarsgard, Georgina Campbell, and Justin Long, plus an impressive synth score elevate the film. Special guest Ryan Oliver joins the show this week for a bonus review of Barbarian, the newest film from Zach Cregger of Whitest Kids U Know Fame and of course, like we all remember in detail, Miss March. The horror film stars Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård and Justin Long, and many critics are considering it this year's Malignant. Is that an accurate assessment? Hell if I know, since I wasn't on this recording and haven't seen the movie. But I'm sure Will Ashton and Ryan Oliver have a wonderful conversation about how I was too scared to watch Barbarian, which is now playing in theaters through 20th Century Studios. It looks less likely agencies will meet the March 31 deadline to release solicitations under the $50 billion telecommunications contract known as Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions. This is especially true because the first provider just last week received its authority to operate for their business systems, which would let agencies award deals under EIS. In his weekly feature, the Reporter's Notebook, Federal News Network Executive Editor Jason Miller wrote about why EIS may need a shot of urgency to get agencies and vendors moving faster. He joined Federal Drive with Tom Temin to discuss.

On this weeks episode of Behind the Scenes, we delve into Twilight, which was recently released on DVD, followed by a look at the movies Miss MarchControl-Alt-Delete. First off we check out the movie Twilight starring Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan. It's an action-packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human. When her mother remarries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn’t expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen, a boy unlike any she’s ever met. and Once back from the twilight zone, we talk about the latest teen flick "Miss March", featuring an interview with Zach Cregger. Its the story of a young man who awakens from a four-year coma to hear that his once virginal high-school sweetheart has since become a centerfold in one of the world's most famous men's magazines. Playboy magazine. He and his sex-crazed best friend decide to take a cross-country road trip in order to crash a party at the magazine's legendary mansion headquarters and win back the girl. Starring Writer/Directors Zach Cregger and Trevor Moore, hotties Raquel Alessi and Molly Stanton and a guest appearance by the playboy himself Hugh Hefner, this is certainly a summer movie you don't want to miss. Finally we close out the show with a discussion about the new movie Control-Alt-Delete. It's 1999 and lovable computer geek Lewis Henderson is dumped by his long time girlfriend Sarah. So he does what any young urban slacker would: work less and beat off more to Internet porn. But with the added pressures of his buggy Y2K software and repeated romantic rejection, Lewis discovers that the website images no longer turn him on... and thus begins his strangely satisfying sexual relationship with the machine itself. This production is starting to gain a lot of traction and MovieSet is proud to have followed it since its inception. We have tons more content on the sitelet!
