In this episode, Rebekah & Jennedy talk about their shared experiences as St. Louis natives. They address the challenges of motherhood and working full-time while also emphasizing the importance of connecting with other moms through St. Louis Mom. Both express gratitude for the support they've received from their villages, which has given them the confidence to reach out to other moms in the greater St. Louis area.Jennedy Lombard grew up in West County, attended Mizzou, and now works as a full-time School Counselor. At home, her life moves along at a quick pace to a lovely soundtrack of music provided by her husband, Kyle, who is a classical musician and her two young sons. When time allows, Jennedy loves a project- whether it be tiling a bathroom, decorating, gardening, meal planning, learning to sew, or finding new and efficient ways to manage her household. Jennedy is hoping to figure out the magic formula of work, life, and self-care balance. She'll be sure to write a blog for St. Louis Mom Collective when she does.We hope you enjoyed this podcast episode! You really put it into perspective when you don't play anymore.” 28:35“You gotta find the things that matter within that journey.  The journey ends up being the final destination because we can't really control the outcome, we can't really control the end goal, but we can control small things throughout and we can control what we're paying attention to.” 29:20“I do come from more humble beginnings so I do have to kinda have to work harder to accomplish my goals.  Putting in that work gives me confidence to succeed.  Kinda like I can do that.  I've proven myself wrong many times, so I can continue doing it.”  42:34“One thing that I've learned and one thing I would go back and tell my younger self to do and my younger athletes: you can be confident without being cocky in the sense that you believe you are good and you're not comparing yourself to anyone else.” 43:35“Compete with yourself, collaborate with your community.” - Wendy @ 45:40 Guest Bio - Melissa Fuchs Powell played D1 indoor volleyball for Central Michigan and Houston Baptist University. So as I'm recording this, it is the week of Christmas. And I'm feeling all the feels. I focus on what brings joy this time of the year and I make a cake. Every year for breakfast on Christmas morning I have made cake for my kids. It wasn't always this way. I share my struggle with having peace with food and what has changed for me and my family. MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: Email Jen: jennifer@healthcoach4life.com Enroll in Group About enrollment is open for my annual Mom Group, but I am offering TWO GIFTS to anyone who enrolls before January 4th and pays in full. 1. Two 45 minute private sessions with me 2. A copy of Evelyn Tribole's Intuitive Eating for Everyday sent to your doorstep Here's a little bit about it: I created this program to help you stop stressing, stop obsessing about everything that you eat. What you're going to end up being able to do is trust your body around food. Even feel like a normal eater again. You're going to learn how to let go of the need to diet. You're going to overcome this focus you've had on your weight and on your body. You'll even learn how to cope without overeating, binge eating. And, and, and this is the part I know you're waiting for, you'll be able to talk with your kids (or grandkids) about a healthy relationship with food. And you'll be able to stop passing on those old food rules to your children and experience food freedom, and the life you desire without dieting. I love this group. I love working with moms because my mission is to change generations. Mom groups. They are totally a life changing experience for parents, involving hilarious group texts, potluck lunches in the park, and instant BFFs. Right? Not always. Sure, parent groups are an amazing resource for community and parental bonding, but unfortunately you're not assigned a village as you shuffle out of the hospital and make your way home with a brand new family member. Instead, new parenting is often isolating, lonely, and hard, especially when you feel like you don't have a solid group you can count on to be there for you in times of (parental) need. This week's guest, Nicole, is trying to change that; Kaila talks with this mom group creator about the importance of having a village for yourself, your partner, and your child as well as the need to recognize and normalize getting the support you deserve.

Are you ready for some real talk? The kind that drops all facades and welcomes even the stuff that’s hard to talk about? But don’t worry, we’re throwing in some humor too, as we always do on the podcast! This month is a personally reflective month for Randi with her 40th bday just around the corner as well as some other monumental dates in her life. And with our upcoming retreat and live podcast event just around the corner, it felt like the time to go even deeper into conversations that move us to the next level. During October, we are stripping away the hesitation and the perfection and speaking from our hearts even more than ever. In this episode Randi reflects on the truths about getting older, observing the changes in her body, thought patterns, relationships and more. She also introduces the incredible interviews this month with three mamas who are challenging the predictable voices of motherhood: Founder of Not Safe for Mom Group, Alexis Barad Cutler, lifestyle expert, TV host and mompreneur, Pamela Pekerman and founder of Revolution Motherhood, Rachel Welch. These three women are uniquely different from one another, but their commitment to TRUTH aligns them as three of my favorite interviews of all time. Enjoy these episodes and let's dive deep into truth, soul-searching, and growth TOGETHER! Tune in!

“Impostor Syndrome” is all about not feeling confident about your accomplishments, skills, or capabilities, especially when you’re setting off to do something new in your career or life. The term was first coined by clinical psychologists Pauline Clance and Suzanne Imes, in 1978, who described individuals who had a persistent fear of being exposed as a “fraud.” This concept has always been a discussion among successful women, and it is gaining more traction as girls outperform boys in the classroom, more women graduate college and are obtaining executive positions typically held by men. Sheryl Sandberg’s book, “Lean In” comes to mind with Impostor Syndrome. Let’s discuss Impostor Syndrome and what it means as a mom and especially as a black woman.   Episode Sponsor: First Stream Cleaning Service Isn’t it time you got your house or apartment cleaned?  Maybe you need an extra pair of hands? Philanthropy is the desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes. Wealth is directed correlated to he level of giving. Although the level of wealth is far less than the white household, African Americans have a long standing history of providing to philanthropic causes. We (Black/African Americans) don’t consider ourselves as such. Blacks and African Americans actually donated a higher percentage of their incomes to charity than any other ethnic group in this country. Most notably the new Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) was constructed in part by fundraising and established philanthropies. Today, we will discuss the state of philanthropy among African American women. Welcome our guest, Akilah Wallace.   Guest Momologist: Akilah S. Wallace Akilah is Executive Director for Faith in Texas, a multi-racial faith based, social justice organization. She has 17+ years of experience as a relationship manager, with expertise in fund development, event planning & promotions, marketing, multicultural media sales and project management. Akilah’s love for connecting community organizations with financial and in-kind resources has resulted in over $5 million in revenue support. She is currently pursuing a degree in Human Services Management & Leadership at the University of North Texas at Dallas, and has earned a Nonprofit Management Certificate from the Center for Nonprofit Management. In 2013, Akilah launched Distinguished Ones: A Philanthropic Initiative, respectfully known as #BlackDFWGives, an educational and inspiring, online initiative seeking to heighten the platform for philanthropy education and the next generation of philanthropists of color throughout North Texas. Her philanthropic leadership includes the founding of Texas’ first Black/African-American giving circle HERitage Giving Fund at Dallas Women’s Foundation, awarding nearly $30,000 in grants to Black and women-led organizations.
