The Celtics beat the Pacers 103-95 in a Joe Mazzulla masterclass. Yes, this is a game that the Celtics should win BUT the Celtics did not come out playing well early. They found themselves down by as many as 20 and 3 minutes into the third quarter, Mazzulla pulled all of his starters and the bench goes OFF! They responded with a 10-2 run forcing a Pacers timeout and extended that run to 19-5 forcing another Pacers timeout! Eventually the bench magic ran out and Mazzulla brought his starters back in but instead of being down 20, they were down just 8 and then you had JB who just took over. JB out scored the Pacers 14-13 in the 4th quarter! The Pacers shot a ridiculous 12-20 from 3 in the first half and just 1-20 in the second so there is certainly a bit of luck in there but they do say water finds its level and the Pacers are the worst 3pt shooting team in the NBA so we will take it. The Celtics beat the Raptors 112-96 without JB!!! Pritchard went off for 33pts alongside 8reb and 10ast!!! He had 19pts in the 3rd quarter and was truly unstoppable. In a game where JB isn't there to leave his mark, you need guys to step up and while Pritchard surely did, he wasn't along. This was one of the more impressive wins of the year because of the contributions we got off the bench!Hugo left his mark with his defensive tenacity but also added a 10pt 10reb double double with some monster plays down the stretch. Luka Garza was an absolute monster on the glass also adding a 12pt 10reb double double with his9 Offensive Rebounds!!!! While Simons wasn't super efficient in this game, you also got 15pts from him too so this was a real team effort which you love to see! The Celtics BEAT THE HEAT 129-116 after an impressive 4th quarter stretch with contributions from a lot of guys. Derrick White was Mr Consistent in this game and seemed to hit every big shot imaginable on his way to a 33pt 5reb 6ast game with 9 3pt makes!!! JB, while it was certainly a slow start with just 6pts in the first half, added another 30pt game which he has done in 12 of his last 13 games! On top of his 30pts he also led the team with 9reb and 7ast along with a 10-11 FT performance to make up for last game lol. What makes this win more impressive is the performances we got from our bench. Hauser was 5-6 from 3 with 15pts, Simons added 14pts and Hugo had 10pts 8reb 2stl and a block. Hugo was absolutely key down the stretch on both sides of the ball and it made it impossible to take him out. He ended up with 29 minutes tonight which you just love to see. Send us a textThis episode was originally released as a Patreon-only special episode on the 10th May 2025.Mindfulness The 1970's Buddhist appropriation of Prayer and Reflection.Thích Nhất Hạnh, the Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk, peace activist, and prolific author, stands as one of the most influential contemporary figures in introducing Buddhist thought, particularly mindfulness meditation, to Western audiences. His 1975 work, "The Miracle of Mindfulness," offered an introduction to mindfulness, not merely as a spiritual technique but as an encompassing way of life. Hạnh's message, deeply rooted in Mahayana Buddhism and Vietnamese Zen traditions, is characterized by gentleness and commitment to nonviolence. While these teachings on presence and compassion have resonated with individuals across various religious and secular paths, their underlying metaphysical assumptions present significant divergences when viewed from a Christian worldview.Themes:1. The Nature of the Self: Created Dignity vs. Illusory Ego2. The Problem of Suffering: Moral Transgression vs. Karmic Ignorance3. The Path to Liberation: Divine Redemption vs. Self-Realization4. Temporal Presence and Eternal Hope: The Trajectory of Time5. The Nature of the Divine: Personal God vs. Non-Theistic InterbeingConclusion: Christians must be anchored in a Different NarrativeThích Nhất Hạnh's "The Miracle of Mindfulness" offers some insights into the idea of living in the moment, but in my opinion, not adding anything to what the Stoics taught 2000+ years ago. However, from a Christian theological perspective, its foundational assumptions about the self, suffering, salvation, time, and the nature of ultimate reality diverge significantly from the Christian worldview.Christianity anchors its understanding of life and its spiritual practices in a revealed narrative: the story of creation by a personal God, the tragic fall of humanity into sin, the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, and the promised hope of future restoration and eternal communion with God. This narrative provides a framework where the self is not an illusion to be overcome but a creation to be redeemed, where suffering finds its ultimate answer not in mindful detachment alone but in the sacrificial love of God, and where the present moment, while sacred, points towards an eternal future in relationship with a personal, loving Creator.A full essay presenting my views to an entirely secular readership/audience can be found on my Substack. In this episode, the Ski Moms welcome Chemmy Alcott, a British former World Cup alpine ski racer who competed in all five disciplines and represented Great Britain at four Olympic Games. Growing up in London, Chemmy's journey to elite ski racing is extraordinary, she trained on eight-second dry ski slopes made of plastic "hairbrushes" and at age 10 convinced her parents to let her travel alone to New Zealand for two months of training, a pattern she continued for eight years.Chemmy opens up about skiing at only 80% capacity for eight years due to fear of failure before her breakthrough at Sölden, where she embraced 100% effort and risk-taking. After coming within 1.8 seconds of an Olympic medal at Sochi 2014, her surgeon's warning about potential leg amputation led to her retirement. Now a mother of two boys (ages 8 and 6), she's achieved her childhood dream as presenter of BBC's iconic Ski Sunday and co-founded Carpe Diem Coaching with her husband Dougie, running camps across Europe for ages 6 to 89 focused on building confidence and resilience. She also founded Swiss Mountain Rescue after discovering CBD and meditation eliminated her chronic pain in just two weeks after 10 years of suffering.Resources:Carpe Diem Coaching: https://www.cdcperform.com/Instagram: @chemmyskiBBC Ski SundaySwiss Mountain Rescue (health and wellness brand)Imbrace (compression leggings)Key Quotes:"I always say that I was made to be a ski racer.

The last full week of work in 2025 comes to an end today! We'll be around next Monday through Wednesday, but we'll both be off on Christmas & the day after. Same thing the following week for New Year's. In the news this morning, an absolute tragedy involving NASCAR Champion Greg Biffle & his family as they all died in a plane crash yesterday along with three others. Also in the news, the Brown University shooter has been found dead in NH, Wisconsin judge Hannah Dugan was found guilty of obstruction. And in more positive news…the $1.5 Billion Powerball drawing is tomorrow! To talk a bit more about the Greg Biffle disaster, we got Doc on the phone just after 8am, thanks to County Materials in Holmen. Elsewhere in sports, Week 16 in the NFL kicked off last night with a thrilling win in overtime for the Seahawks, the Bucks lost to the Raptors last night, the Badger volleyball team's run to a championship came to an end at the hands of Kentucky last night, and the Badger men's basketball team takes on Villanova tonight in Milwaukee. We also talked about the Bowl Game schedule and the entertainment at February's NBA All-Star weekend. Plus, more details about the firing of Ohio University's coach, and the details on next year's "Patriot Games". We let you know what's on TV and in theaters this weekend, and if you're planning on traveling for the holidays…here's some solid advice from the TSA. Discussed some of the worst gifts to get during the holidays. Had a story about a grandmother in Virginia who's trying to track down a woman who performed life-saving CPR on her back in November after she suffered a heart attack while in a park. And God bless strippers! They do the Lord's work! And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy on the run from the cops who hid in a nativity scene, a trucker who found a bunch of cocaine in his truck, a grocery store in Montreal that was robbed by a bunch of people dressed as Santas & elves, a baby Jesus statue from a town's nativity scene was stolen & then returned, and a former trooper in Missouri admitted trying to find nude pics on the phones of women he'd pull over.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

For 90 years, Yankee Magazine has been telling stories of and about New England. And for more than half of the magazine's life, Mel Allen has been Yankee's foremost storyteller. Allen wrote his first stories for Yankee in 1977, then held various editorial roles before becoming Yankee's fifth editor in 2006. He retired as editor earlier this year after 48 years with the magazine, which is based in Dublin, NH. I first got to know Mel Allen in the 1980s, when I began writing for Yankee. I had never had an editor quite like him. He didn't just assign stories. He coached, shaped, cajoled and encouraged me and countless other New England writers to do our best work. He even came to Vermont with his two sons to go backcountry skiing with me. They loved it, (he, not so much) and a friendship was kindled. Allen has taught magazine writing and creative nonfiction for the past 25 years at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and teaches in the MFA program at Bay Path University. In 2018, Mel Allen was inducted into the Folio Magazine Hall of Fame for editorial excellence.Mel Allen, 79, recently published a book of essays, Here in New England: Unforgettable Stories of People, Places, and Memories That Connect Us All. The stories take us along on his journey to meet the last horse-and-buggy egg delivery man; the tragic search for a lost boy in Maine; to a town in Maine that refused to die; to meet Stephen King, the “King of Horror”; and to the son of an undocumented Mexican immigrant who graduated at the top of his class at Bowdoin College and worked to bring his mother back home to Arizona where he was raised. Allen is sometimes a participant observer in his stories, as immortalized by Stephen King. “I may be the only writer who not only helped King round up pigs for the market when they escaped, but who also ended up as a character named Mel Allen from the Portland Sunday Telegram in 'The Dead Zone,'" Allen writes in his book.Allen believes in the power of stories to build bridges. These “are stories that transcend the current climate of disunity. That's why I believe these stories can connect us,” Allen told The Vermont Conversation. He said that there a “sense of place in New England that I don't know exists anywhere else.”I asked Allen what makes a good story. “You want to keep turning the page,” he said. “You want to know what's going to happen to this person. You want to care about the person.”With journalism in a state of upheaval, I asked Allen what his advice is to young journalists. “You are drawn to tell stories because of something in you. It's not something that somebody puts on your shoulders and says, Now I want you to go out and to tell those stories,” he said. “If you're called to do that, you follow that calling.”

The Celtics lost to the Pistons 112-105 in another game that they could've/should've won. The Celtics started this game shooting 5-11 from 3 and ended the game shooting 10-39 so in quarters 2-4 they shot just 5-28 which is 17%. Derrick White and JB seemed to be the only 2 that could get any sort of consistent scoring going especially down the stretch. White led the team with 14 4th quarter points alongside JBs 7 so between the 2 of them, they scored 21 of the teams 24 4th quarter pts... They both ended the night with 30+ point performances. The problem is, nobody else seemed to show up. Make sure to tune into the podcast for the full player breakdown and analysis! This podcast is brought to you by me, Guy DePlacido. With snow on the ground and as we head into winter, this episode focuses on the history and soul of the game. I talk with fellow NH resident and golf podcaster, AJ MacVie. We dig into hickory golf, golf course architecture, the roots of New England golf and golf in Scotland. And like I try to do with all my guests, we explore the big question - why are so many of us drawn to this game? Thank you for listening. And thanks to The Oaks for sponsoring the podcast this season. Song is Good Vibe by Ketsa is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0

In 1975, 22-year-old Judy Lord was suffocated and strangled in her Concord, NH apartment. From early on, police felt that they had a strong suspect, Ernie Gable, and even physical evidence that may help to prove it. But the case remained cold for decades. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the case of Judy Lord. The technology the authorities had at their disposal was extremely limited in 1975. In November of 2025, police finally announced that they had solved Judy Lord's murder. Many people had been suspected over the years, but technology left no doubt as to the identity of Judy's murderer. You can help support the show through Patreon.
