We're back with another packed episode of the AFTN Soccer Show for your listening pleasure as we talk Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, and Panini stickers, with our usual splattering of fine tunes thrown in for your aural pleasure. After the Whitecaps' latest loss, the season is all but mathematically over and the regression and recent form has been sad to see. We look back over the 'Caps loss in Colorado and the goals and controversial moment that got them there. So what now for Vancouver? How safe is Vanni Sartini's job? How secure are the players and how many do you even want back? How much of a rebuild is needed and why are the club going through this again? With four games remaining, how should the 'Caps approach these final matches and what will it take to get the fans back in the stands? We chat about all of that and a lot more and talk about the ever rising cost of completing Panini sticker albums and talk about some of our favourites from through the years. And there's even time for some Wrexham chat. Here's the rundown for the main segments from the episode: 02.00: The rising costs of Panini sticker albums 11.27: Wavelength - My Brother Woody - Panini Sticker Album Blues (1987) 17.48: More Panini sticker chat 28.27: Whitecaps latest loss in Colorado 60.05: What now for the Whitecaps, this season and next?

Nowhere Fast were a pop punk band from New Jersey. You may remember them from their 2 songs that were on the Pinball Records comp and their split with LWL. You may also remember their cover of Crowded House's “Don't Dream It's Over” on the Making Decisions about Punk compilation. They had a short lifespan and 2 of their members (Heath and Tyler) went on to join Gabe Saporta's brain child, Midtown. We talk about this at the end of the interview which is quite entertaining. Side note, the band I'm trying to think of later on in the interview who was from Chicago is Man Dingo. I've had many many many people ask for this interview so luckily I got in touch with Ryan and this is what we chat about: His new book out that's called Nimrod The Bound Brook flood Jay Turon Matt Haick Big Wig The Heathcliff cover Breaking up before the split with LWL Heath and Tyler going off to be in Midtown Gabe Saporta Ben from Dillinger managing Merciana being the light guy for Dillinger for a tour And a ton more Go check out his new book “Nimrod” And go hire his dog walking business if you have a pet that needs to be taken care of. Dog Days NJ Check out my new book The Couples' Checklist for my webcomic dailyBred. It's a great gift for Valentine's Day. I also have an Instagram for it. This week I catch up with Seth Robinson from the Louisville KY power band NOWHERE FAST. Seth and I connected on many levels of our lives in music and our interests in the same things, but it always led back to NOWHERE FAST. The band stoked a fire in me when I heard a song that I didn't know I was searching for. The creators of that song were NOWHERE FAST and that fire led me straight to Seth. Seth added fuel to that fire with his pure soul and love of all things music. While some find a formula and stick to it, NOWHERE FAST bucks that trend and created what was meant to be. The maturation between albums is a tale of life changing and experiences evolving in ones self. Those are just some of the things that leave me on the edge of my seat wanting more. That is exactly what NOWHERE FAST is doing, making more for me to light my way with and yours too. Join Seth and I as we try to be "Soft Spoken" while traversing some "Haunted" "Dark Towns" together.

Shock Treatment (1981) The follow-up to Rocky Horror Picture show is a sequel to the cult classic but not a direct sequel. Many Rocky Horror cast members returned for the film, but only Jeremy Newson reprised his role as Ralph Hapschatt. However, due to his title of "Judge", some fans have speculated that Gray is also reprising his role of the unnamed Criminologist. In addition to actors from Rocky Horror, other alums filled out the cast. Many of the original film's Transylvanians appeared as audience members, while Imogen Claire was given the slightly-larger part of the Wardrobe Mistress. Raynor Bourton, who originated the titular role of Rocky in the stage production, portrayed one of the singing soldiers in "Thank God I'm a Man", and Chris Malcolm, who originated the role of Brad Majors, was cast as Vance Parker, a local police officer. Founder and long-time president of Rocky Horror fan club, Sal Piro, also has a silent cameo appearance as the man using the payphone during the opening sequence. The film would later be turned into a stage musical in 2017 in London, England Streets of Fire (1984) A 1984 American neo-noir rock musical film directed by Walter Hill and co-written by Hill and Larry Gross. The film is described in its opening credits and posters as "A Rock & Roll Fable" and is a mix of various movie genres with elements of retro-1950s woven into then-current 1980s themes. According to Hill, the film's origins came out of a desire to make what he thought was a perfect film when he was a teenager, and put in all of the things that he thought were "great then and which I still have great affection for: custom cars, kissing in the rain, neon, trains in the night, high-speed pursuit, rumbles, rock stars, motorcycles, jokes in tough situations, leather jackets and questions of honor" It would inspire Capcom's video game Final Fight. Your mind is constantly filtering and bringing to your attention information that affirms your preexisting beliefs as well as presenting you with repeated thoughts and impulses that mirrors what you've done in the past. These thoughts are hidden beliefs that dictate the direction you go in and at which speed. Most of them are not actually serving you. I like to think of these thoughts as little duck feet pedaling feverishly in the water but going nowhere fast. The duck feet are your internalized thoughts underneath your awareness, your consciousness that you actually get to question. So if you ever feel like you're just going in circles, it's these hidden thoughts that are directing you and that is one of the reasons why you are not making any progress towards your goals. So listen in as we discuss a few ways to start retraining your mind to be your ally, not your enemy. Country music songwriter and Old Dominion frontman Matt Ramsey comes by the cellar to catch up with Phil and share stories from early in his career. He reminisces on his first trip to Nashville, brought by Phil's sister, and getting to see some of his songwriting idols perform at The Bluebird before meeting Phil at the same cellar they're recording this episode in. They connect over the importance of honing the songwriting craft, as the greatest success lies in the greatest songs. Ramsey shares stories of meeting his country music heroes early in Old Dominion's career, including both comedic and generous run ins with Charlie Daniels and Trace Adkins. He performs one of their smash hits, “Make It Sweet,” with Phil after telling the story of it's last minute creation. Matt dishes the inside scoop behind the creation of their hilarious Meow Mix album - a joke which was not instantly recognized by their record label. He ends their visit by mashing up one of their non-radio hits with one of Phil's classic jams.Performances:“Make It Sweet” - Matt Ramsey“Nowhere Fast” - Matt RamseyTo stay up to date with Matt Ramsey and Old Dominion, head on over to https://www.weareolddominion.comMore info on Songs From The Cellar & details on how to watch the TV series can be found at https://www.songsfromthecellar.comKeep up with Matt Ramsey on Social media at:InstagramTwitterKeep up with Old Dominion on Social media at:FacebookInstagramTwitterYouTubeSpotifyFollow Phil Vassar and Songs From The Cellar at:FacebookInstagramTwitterYouTubeSpotifyCheck out more awesome podcasts at:American Songwriter Podcast NetworkAnd go!
