The latest episode of the PowettPlay Podcast sees hosts Jordan Shannon and Kieran Powell deliver a passionate and unfiltered assessment of the ongoing issues within Cricket West Indies. The pair react to the shocking delay surrounding the Regional Championship finals after a pitch was ruled unplayable due to dangerous levels of moisture despite ground staff reportedly having three weeks to prepare for one of the Caribbean's premier domestic cricket events. Jordan and Kieran question the lack of accountability and professionalism in West Indies cricket administration, calling the situation an embarrassment for Caribbean cricket on the global stage. The discussion also dives deep into the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) draft system, with both hosts criticising the process for its lack of transparency and its failure to allow players to achieve their true market value in franchise cricket. The episode explores wider concerns about the future of West Indies cricket, including player migration to overseas T20 leagues, declining standards in regional cricket, financial instability, and the urgent need for structural reform across the game. Kieran Powell offers insight from a former international player's perspective, while Jordan Shannon highlights how poor governance continues to damage the reputation and prestige of Caribbean cricket worldwide. This is a must-listen episode for fans of West Indies cricket, Caribbean Premier League analysis, cricket politics, player development, and the future of the sport in the region. #WestIndiesCricket #CricketWestIndies #CPL #CaribbeanPremierLeague #KieranPowell #JordanShannon #PowettPlayPodcast #CaribbeanCricket #CricketPodcast #CricketNews #T20Cricket #FranchiseCricket #WestIndies #CricketPolitics #RegionalChampionship #CPLDraft #CricketControversy #SportsPodcast #CricketFans #CaribbeanSports #CricketAnalysis #GlobalT20 #CricketAdministration #WindiesCricket Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode Bryan, Charles, and Marcos are joined by Brandon Welch, the Head Judge of the recent Regional Championship in Vegas to talk about a topic many HJs care a lot about: "End of Round". This episode goes deep into the tournament logistics of reducing people's least favorite part of the tournament: Waiting for the next round to begin.Turns out a lot more goes into making sure the next round starts as quickly as possible than harassing players to enter their results. But lets be clear, that absolutely *is* part of it.
"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to." Join Bryan, Charles, and Marcos as we talk about attending your first big event. Maybe its a MagicCon, or an SCGCon, or a Regional Championship, or maybe, your first large event isn't even Magic related. Judges new to these events have a lot of questions, and the JudgeCast crew take a stab at pre-answering many of them, or letting you know where to find the answers. While our background is in Magic Tournaments, many of these questions/answers are common across all game IPs, and as other games are entering the tournament space, we are having more and more folks staffing these events for the first time.
