Denis explains why leaders need to leverage the impact of journaling on their lives and business. Why Journaling is Helpful: We retain things. We take more information in. Something you capture may be life changing for you or your organization. How to Reflect and Review: What went well? Is there something you could have done better? What will you do differently moving forward? How to Build a Habit of Journaling: Get a book, calendar, or tablet device. Choose a consistent time to do it. Review on a weekly basis. Tweetable Quotes: Taking notes is important because we as human beings tend to forget things pretty quickly. When you journal, you’re setting yourself up with a toolkit for your future. The journal is your friend. Denis Gianoutsos: denis@leadingchangepartners.com https://my.captivate.fm/www.LeadingChangePartners.com%C2%A0 (www.LeadingChangePartners.com )

Preparing for Fast 20/20 Pt.2 Sunday, December 29, 2019 Schedule of the fast and important dates; Fast begins Sunday, Jan 5th and ends Jan 26th. Jan 26th we will have our fellowship lunch. Soups. Jan 8th, 15th, 22nd (Wednesday’s) Prayer and live worship. Jan 10th and 17th the church will be open for prayer from 6-8. We will use a playlist for this time. Come and go whenever. Friday, Jan 25th; prophetic worship service (full worship team). We will open this to people outside of our church family like before. No kids ministry, so that teachers can attend. People can bring their kids if they would like or they will have plenty of time to find a sitter. Review: What fasting is and is not? Fasting is a physical response to a spiritual prompting for a spiritual purpose. Biblical fasting is restraining from food for a spiritual purpose. Fasting is a spiritual exercise, a voluntary restraint from food for the purpose of SEEKING GOD! Physical obedience releases spiritual blessing! Fasting social media and distractions should be coupled with fasting food! Fasting is not a way to force God to hear you. Fasting is a way to get you to hear God. Fasting is not a way to force God to do something. Fasting is how we position ourselves to receive what He has already done. Fasting is not a way to prove how “spiritual” you are. Fasting is a way we grow spiritually. Fasting is how we humble ourselves before The Lord. Fasting is how we crucify our flesh. Your perspective will determine your response and what you can receive. God is supernatural! Expect supernatural things to happen! What to expect during and from the fast. Expect greater intimacy with The Father! God is no respecter of persons, but He is a respecter of pursuit. Intimacy comes with pursuit! There can be no consistent intimacy without consistent pursuit. James said draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Expect faith and power to increase! Matthew 17:14-21 Romans 12:1-2 Expect Clarity of vision! Acts 9:1- Saul found himself caught in the confusion of temporary blindness! The light of his past was extinguished and the light of his future not yet revealed. He was stuck between the certainty of what he THOUGHT he was called to do and the uncertainty of what his life was about to become. He knew he could no longer do what he had always done, but he did not know what he should do next. His darkness was disorienting. He needed direction. He needed clarity. He need vision! THIS IS WHERE MANY OF US FIND OURSELVES! Paul was religious but he had not true revelation! We live religiously but not revelationally! Fasting and prayer prepares our hearts to receive the grace of God’s revelation and direction for our life. When we fast, our spiritual eyes see clearer than usual. Because we have denied our flesh, our spiritual sensitivity increases and we are more receptive to the vision of God. Judah or Judas = "he shall be praised" Ananias = "whom Jehovah has graciously given" Acts 13:1-3 9:18 TPT All at once, the crusty substance that was over Saul’s eyes disappeared and he could see perfectly. 2020 vision!

Business Of Dance Podcast
#92 How I add zest & zing into my studio!

Business Of Dance Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 14, 2019 9:33

Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of The Business of Dance Podcast. My name is Claire O’Shea and today I will be sharing with you some special tips and insight into how I add zest and zing to my studio. As business owners, we are always trying to keep things fun and fresh. It can be hard to come up with new things all the time which is why having some strategies to use time and time again is key, rather than starting from scratch or trying to keep up with every single “new thing or trend” studios may be doing. Each of us has our own limits with time, resources and imagination for new ideas. Although we are creative individuals, It isn’t our job necessarily to change elements of our studio regularly, but simply keep it fun, fresh, by adding that zing which keeps people excited to come back to our studio time and time again.   If you are a regular listener of the podcast you may hear me say words like glow, sparkle, zest, zing etc. To me, these words are far more than just fun jargon. It is about bringing back that excitement you had or have for your business and emanating that across your dance programs, classes and relationships. I discuss these topics because I essentially want to help others get recharged with that passion for their business. This podcast is called the business of dance, but there are elements that are a part of business ownership that go past automation and systems. It is that feeling we have inside about our love of dance and helping others; our core values. Today in this episode, I will be discussing how I personally add in the zest into my studio time and time again, which as a result helps grow my business and shape a well-rounded community. So let’s dive into the show. Try something new! Something simple is to try something new. It doesn’t have to be big or even cost you money, but simply doing something new, or different in order to keep that zest and zing alive at your studio. This can range from integrating new themes into your studio, having a workshop or event that is shaped around something relevant in dance or that particular time of year. A great place to start is to assign your team to research or brainstorm ideas for what they feel is “resh” right now. A way to do this is by keeping an eye on social media with Instagram, dance-themed Facebook groups as well as Pinterest pages. We can all get inspiration from others in similar fields and learn what is the new fun thing, and experiment for how you might integrate with within your business. This shows you are open to trying new things which in turn, always keep that zest and zing alive within your business. Review (What is, and isn’t working) A great way to spice things up a bit is to simply do a review So many of us can get stagnant as studio owners with doing the same things over and over. That isn’t to say to ever ditch what is currently working, but review what may not be working or converting the way you would like it to, and then adjust accordingly to match the other amazing aspects of your business. This can take place with your quarterly reviews, during team meetings or simply at the end of the year and look at everything from a bird's eye view. Sometimes to keep things fresh it isn’t about adding on but taking away or tweaking what already exists. This can be from a system that no longer serves your business or even an event or workshop you host every year that just isn’t seeing the attention it deserves. When we let go of what no longer serves us, we can make room for new and exciting things, while keeping that zest & zing alive! Take that extra time for your students/parents Sometimes the best way to keep up the zing within your business is working on your communication. After all, at the end of the day, we want our students, and their parents to feel heard, special and a part of the community. This can be as easy as sending out a weekly or even fortnightly email to ask them how they are doing, how was this week for them etc. Even taking the time to have a bit of a chat after class (if you are still teaching at this time) We all have such busy schedules, but a part of running a business is keeping up that standard of streamlined communication, as well as kindness. A thing to remember is that a little can go a long way, and that extra effort reminds them why that came to your studio in the first place.   Don’t be afraid to keep evolving. My last point goes hand in hand with my first 2 points. When we are willing to try something new and let go of what isn’t working in our business we allow the opportunity to evolve. You never know just where your business will go, when you allow it to grow and take shape into what it is meant to be. It isn’t about changing everything but simply understanding that businesses evolve over time. There are niches within owning a dance business that is still yet to be discovered! This can come in the form of you wanting to take a different direction; adding a new genre of dance, having your own location or be an onsite studio, integrating music or drama classes, sticking to a specific age bracket, or even something as small as adjusting your values as time goes on. Things can change over time, and allowing any changes to come when they do naturally, at a rate that is feasible, you will always keep things fun and fresh without too much stress!   BONUS: Try a live video Create a music video showing off all your students Use something like Canva to refresh your brand or add logos to your photos Do a survey - what are people wanting Hire a guest teacher So those are just a few tips on how I personally add zest and zing into my studio. Adding these elements that keep things fresh, fun and alive at your studio doesn’t have to come from drastic changes, but rather keeping an eye out and being mindful of what you feel may be missing or simply trying something new and fun! Again we don’t need to follow every trend to keep things up to date at our studio. It really just boils down to authenticity and spreading that throughout our businesses, and all those who come into contact with it. I hope you enjoyed today’s show, and that this episode inspires you to add some extra zing into your studio! Have a great day wherever you are in the world, and I will speak to you soon. Bye for now.   For more Business Of Dance please, like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram @claireosheacoaching. Hello listeners! Last episode of 2017 and I wanted to bring you an episode to help you end the end right: a goal setting episode! As a recovering procrastinator, I have researched many ways of goal setting and I have found a formula that works for me. First, we start with a 2017 review. We must acknowledge the year and be prepared to let it go. If you were to name 2017. What would that name be? 2017 Review: What did you accomplish? What can you celebrate? What lessons did you learn? If you can categorize them, that’s great What meaningful connections did you make that helped you reach your goals? What habits did you create or cultivate that help you spark your mind and body? What are you excited to carry over from 2017 to 2018? Then we set our intentions for each of the categories of our life wheel: Relationships Family Personal Passions Spiritual Health Business / Career Now we're ready to set our 2018 goals. We're going to use the S.M.A.R.T. method: S - SPECIFIC OR SIGNIFICANT As many details as possible. What is it that you really want and why? For example, some people say go to the gym. Okay, a specific goal would be go to the gym 3x per week before work for 1 hour each time for the rest of the year. M - MEASURABLE OR MEANINGFUL This is the how. How will I know I completed the goal? How much change do I need to create in my life to make this happen? In the example we’re using, we can measure our small accomplishments each week, each month and ultimately by the year. We can establish parameters also, life happens. Using the gym example, you can say that you’re allowed to miss 2 workouts per month. A - ATTAINABLE OR ACTIONABLE Is this possible? Is it a reasonable stretch? Am I setting myself up for success? R - RELEVANT OR REWARDING Is this goal meaningful to me? Is this complimenting a slice of my life wheel? Is succeeding at this goal make me feel whole? Is this going to prevent me from achieving a more important goal? Am I ready to commit to these goals? T - TIME-BOUND OR TRACKABLE When will this goal be considered complete/accomplished? When do I start taking action? What immediate deadlines do I have to do today to get this goal started? After we have our S.M.A.R.T. goals set, then we determine our rewards and feelings when the goal is achieved and we begin our milestone plan. Lastly, we're going to write a contract where we commit to finish these goals! Don't forget to sign up to the Cafe con Pam Accountability group where we go over goal setting and we have a community of people that are willing to complete their goals too! Because of his Podcast: He Discovered a Niche Who Needed A Product Got a note from Corey Fineran I just handed my boss my resignation letter! This podcasting journey started 7 1/2 years ago and it's now allowed me to leave my job and start my own business! You've probably heard me talk about Ivy Envy (my podcast on the Chicago Cubs) more than the one I did for my employer. Since 2012, I've been able to call myself a "professional podcast producer" as my employer created a new position for me to do video podcasts for teachers to play in their classrooms to help high school students with disabilities in their transition from high school to life after high school (primarily through work/employment). Well, there is a huge need for this type of curriculum and schools all over the state of Illinois have started using that podcast. I saw a need and last summer, I started working on starting my own business, creating innovative and interactive online transition curriculum and marketing it to schools all over the country. After receiving contracts from school districts and cooperatives, I'm able to leave my job at the end of this school year. Many of the people in this group have influenced me (whether they know it or not) to take this scary jump. +Bob Zerull +Ray Ortega +Daniel Hayes +Nick Seuberling  +David Jackson  and of course, +Tawny Fineran who has been insanely supportive over the last year as I've worked on building this. If you're curious to check out what I've been working on, you can find it here: http://transitioncurriculum.com Another Problem with Your Show's Title Headline As I now work for Libsyn (where you can get a free month using the coupon code sopfree), and I get to see some mistakes that people are making. Now I'm doing a bit of a repeat, and that is people make horrible headlines. In the past I've talked about starting off a headline with the date. What I am seeing now is people putting the name of their show at the beginning of the headline. Why this makes no sens, is any place you can see the headline (your website, a listing in iTunes) you already see the name of the show. Also here is another thing to keep in mind, on the podcasts app from Apple, you can only see 45 characters of the headline if you're not subscribed to it. Once you subscribe you see the entire headline. However, would you subscribe if every headline was:  School of Podcasting - How to Podcast Today w  School of Podcasting - How to Podcast Today w  School of Podcasting - How to Podcast Today w  You're wasting really, really valuable space.  Why do we care? I had a client who had a respected media outlet that wanted to put their RSS feed on their site. They tested it and the headlines were horrible, and they wanted the producer to change all of their headlines.  Want to make great Headlines, check out my Free Headlines Resources Multiple Websites Question Revisited Paul said, " Heard your comments about updating multiple websites. I have 7 x WordPress sites, have used ManageWP for a couple of years now, love it! VERY easy to update all sites at once, gives you immediate admin access to all sites without login and very simple to add and take new WP installations, with dynamic pricing.  Daniel said, " I use iThemes Sync. ]But you should also check out JetPack’s built-in module for plugin updates. Then, you can login to wordpress.com/plugins (I think) and update all your plugins from there. It’s not as thorough as Sync or others. But it’s free with no limit on sites. Is Blab.Im Going Away? The quick answer is no. However, the CEO stated this week "Blab is not doubling down on broadcaster tools.” They want to focus more on equipping people to hang out. We talked about this on the Ask the Podcast Coach show that I do every Saturday at 10:30 AM EST and here are some theories of what this might really mean. They can't make it reliable Podcasters are perfectionists They are working on other projects (an app for teens) This is as good as it gets.  For me it means, I'm not leaving the platform until it doesn't work for me. I will be scouting other options.  Thanks For the Review "What a fantastic resource this show has been for me. As a 51 year old professional in the entertainment industry, I knew nothing about podcasting when I decided to have my own show. The School of Podcasting has and will continue to be my GPS (great podcasting source). Thanks Dave for doing your homework! Alan Bruess, Tailgate Entertainer" from AlanB-Tractor Guy. This review was sent to me automatically from My Podcast Reviews (have all reviews from all countries, as well as sticher be sent to your email ) Advanced Podcasting Recording Tools in Plain English Today I'm joined by Chris Curran of the podcastengineeringschool.com and http://fractalrecording.com/ who has spent years as an audio engineer in the music business, and is now turning his skills on podcasting.  Now keep in mind, you do NOT need these items to get started. Next week I'm doing a podcast with just a microphone and audacity. No effects at all.  Today we talk through  What is a compressor? What do the knobs do? What does it sound like if I messed up? What is a noise gate? What do the knobs do? What does it sound like if I messed up? What is a De-Esser? What do the knobs do? What does it sound like if I messed up? Thinking of Starting a Podcast?
