If you work in tech and or with startups and you haven't heard a dozen people say a version of “we need to add AI” ot “I'm building an AI product”, then well weve been in different meetings. It can feel like a mess of talk and buzzwords, and honestly a lot of it is, so how does the average founder navigate all the noise and work out what we really should be focusing on when it comes to AI? is here to help try to asnwer that question. Most founders don't see themselves as sales people, and many either try to avoid taking on that role altogether, or offloading it as soon as possible. What is the best way for founders to approach sales when its not a comfortable pair of shoes, how do you know when it's time to transition away from founder-led sales, and how do you do it?To help me unpack this host Scotty Allen is joined by Gavin Tye. When you hear the word crowdfunding you might think about that Kickstarter you backed for that groovy new gadget that you may or may not have ever received, or the GoFundMe that you donated to help someone going through something terrible, but until recently you may not think of it as viable option for funding your startup. One person who done much more than think about it is Kane Jackson, Kane is the cofounder and CEO of Maslow. A new fintech that is aiming to create a majority customer owned financial instution that serves and represents customers rather than profiting from them, and Maslow has just completed a very successful crowdfunding campaign. So, how does crowdfunding for startups work, who should try it, and what should you watch out for? At the start, every business is a bootstrapped business. Founders inject their own capital and/or sweat to get things rolling, and then work out what funding model or models is most likely to work for their idea. It's easy to want to skip through the hard bits and get to the moment where cash is raining down from the sky, but there are things about bootstrapping that give you insights into building businesses that you don't get anywhere else.To talk about the ways that bootstrapping can make you a better founder, we're joined by Yaniv Bernstein. Yaniv has had long tenures at Google and Airtasker and is co-host of The Startup Podcast which focuses on building Silicon-Valley style startups.--------The Bootstrap is a production of Swivol Media and The Product Bus. Bootstrapping a startup is not for the faint of heart. If you really commit to the journey, there are plenty of lows and setbacks to face before you reach a high - if you ever do.We know the success stories, but not always the pivots and failures that came before them. Do Startups have an Ageism Problem? We recorded our discussion with Kirstin Hunter prior to the WGEA gender pay gap report release, but the discussion couldn't be more timely. One element of the WGEA report showed that the pay gap for women increases by age range. While you might look at that stat and say it shows the gap is closing generationally, it's a stark reminder of the additional barriers that older women face in the workforce. 0:25 | People around the world are mourning one of the worst mass killings in Canadian history. Police say at least ten people are dead, and at least 18 more injured, after two brothers went on a stabbing spree at multiple locations across James Smith Cree Nation and nearby Weldon, Saskatchewan. Ryan shares an update on the manhunt and an email from Real Talker listener Joy, to open the show. 11:27 | Rob Clarke served as an RCMP Sergeant and Member of Parliament, so he's processing the tragedy out of Saskatchewan through a number of different lenses. The member of Muskeg Lake First Nation tells us why he established a GoFundMe fundraiser for victims of the attacks in Saskatchewan, and where he intends to transfer the nearly $100,000 raised (at the time of our interview). CHECK OUT THE GOFUNDME: https://www.gofundme.com/f/funerals-and-counseling 31:33 | For decades, Canadians have trusted Charles Adler to bring an informed, personal perspective to national news stories. Today is no different, as Chuck shares his thoughts on what occurred in Saskatchewan over the long weekend. We also take an introductory look at Britain's new PM Liz Truss, and evaluate UCP leadership candidate Brian Jean's recent posts about lockdowns and vaccinations. 1:01:44 | Every Tuesday, our friends at Leading Edge Physiotherapy shine the light on innovation in the world around us. Today, it's the remarkable (ocean-saving) Thaely shoes! Digital landscape is changing rapidly and it creates new challenges for the business to deliver the right customer experience while keeping privacy and governance in check. In this episode we have Rob Clarke the founder of digital experience platform Strala and now VP of Product at ObservePoint. We will have some exciting conversation about the following: What was the rational behind founding Strala, a customer experience measurement platform? How has digital experience evolved in the last 10 years? What is the future of digital customer experience? What is lacking in the Adobe's or Salesforce of the world when it comes to customer experience measurement? User privacy is now a buzz word and speaking from experience most organizations take it lightly just to satisfy the GDPR, CCPA and similar laws. How should a data analyst or marketer approach user privacy? Why is it important to capture every customer touchpoint when performing an audit and how do you get around the privacy issues when capturing the data? What advice should we give marketers and experience managers today who are trying to improve customer experience and market product and services? A BUMPER podcast for the 40th instalment of RobRyanRed as the owners come to town to see the Racecourse, peruse some DVDs down at the Butchers Market, do some shots in the Turf and get to experience a home game watching Wrexham. Rob Clarke, of Mad4Movies, was one of the lucky few who got some time with the pair in what was a whistle-stop tour and he fills Nathan and Rich in on his experience. Rob McElhenney shouted out the podcast, there was trouble in the stands, Rich has a bone to pick with chants and the lads pick their line-ups to face Harrogate Town in the FA Cup first round. Australian rugby has taken another blow with major sponsor Qantas cutting ties with the code after a 30-year partnership.Support for Cricket Australia and the Football Federation Australia by Qantas will also be reduced but the Wallabies will suffer the major pain. The national airline will end its financial support of the code in December due to spending cuts because of COVID-19 which has included massive job losses.Rugby Australia interim CEO Rob Clarke said Qantas' decision was "disappointing" but also "understandable"."There aren't many 30-year partnerships in Australian sport, and I want to thank Qantas for everything they have done for our great game," Clarke said."Alan (Joyce) and his team have been transparent and collaborative in their discussions with us and they have now given us the opportunity to prepare for 2021 and beyond."While we have all felt the effects of COVID-19, Rugby in Australia is entering a very exciting new chapter."Both CA and the FFA will still receive "in kind" benefits such as free flights and marketing, but Qantas will not pay any sponsorship fees for the next 12 months.Qantas chief customer officer, Stephanie Tully said: "In an environment where thousands of our people have lost jobs and thousands more are stood down while they wait for flying to restart, we can't maintain these sponsorships in the way we have in the past."While we're dealing with this crisis and its aftermath, the cash cost of our sponsorships has to be zero."Without exception, our partners have been incredibly understanding of the situation, particularly as most are facing their own COVID challenges."Qantas has had a very long association with Rugby Australia and the Wallabies ... Unfortunately, this pandemic has been the undoing."
Tense negotiations to bring the Rugby Championship to New Zealand were harpooned by the Government's unwillingness to negotiate — with officials making only one concession in almost three months. This, and not "Sanzaar politics" as suggested by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, led to Australia being awarded the hosting rights to the tournament, says New Zealand Rugby chairman Brent Impey."This came down to the quarantine regulations being too restrictive for the championship," Impey told the Weekend Herald."The situation in New South Wales is that all teams have to undertake the 14 days quarantine period, during which they can train at full capacity while in quarantine."They'll need to have testing during and after the quarantine period, as well as having daily wellness examinations to make sure there are no signs of illness."If they do seem ill, they're isolated and tested, and once a negative result is returned, they can join the group."New Zealand Rugby Chairman Brent Impey. Photo / PhotosportAccording to Impey, in all the weeks since July, there was just one Government concession over quarantine conditions.Originally Government officials demanded that throughout the 14 days of lockdown after squads from South Africa, Australia and Argentina arrived in New Zealand, they would never train in groups bigger than 15 players. After several meetings and phone calls, it was finally agreed that in the last six days of the 14 days in quarantine, the size of the training group could be increased from 15 to 25, Impey revealed."The New Zealand situation was that on days one to three there had to be individual isolation. Then, following a negative test, from days four to seven, they could form bubbles of 15 that can train inside the bubble. Then, after a second negative test, they could expand the bubble to 25 from days eight to 14. If there was a negative test, then it was all over."That's what the decision to go to Australia came down. The difference in quarantine regulations."The trickledown effect of losing the Rugby Championship will rob venues throughout the country of the chance to host sold out crowds, while New Zealand's hospitality businesses can appreciate exactly why federal and state Governments threw financial support behind Australia's pitch to largely stage the six-week, 12-match tournament in Sydney.Asked if New Zealand would lose millions from not hosting the Rugby Championship, NZR chief executive Mark Robinson said: "The economic impact is a bit higher than that for a tournament of this kind. There's a lot of business owners we certainly feel for at the moment."It was one way we felt rugby could put a whole lot of smiles on faces and improve the mood of the country but also for bars, cafes, hotels to be full, for people to be travelling into centres to watch these games."All that stuff we were hopeful we could see happen but it's not to be."NZR would still receive revenue from ticket sales, Rugby Australia's interim chief executive Rob Clarke confirmed last night."The way Sanzaar has approached this is very much a 'all hands in the middle' where all expenses will be pooled and all revenue will be pooled," Clarke said."The profit share will be split among the Sanzaar partners equally. It's a very fair approach. I think it incentivises everybody to make it more successful."- Additional reporting Liam Napier

I recently met Rob at the GC 50 in December and although he was unable to run because of an injury he was excited to be there watching and cheering on his fellow athletes. We managed to meet again a few weeks ago for a walk and talk around his local area. What I discovered on this walk is that Rob is a passionate runner who truly loves the sport that he pursues. And, his approach to running is a unique one - the way he uses his boxing background to work out how to race his opponents his fascinating to hear. I really felt that racing to Rob is a game and that running is something to be played at rather than something to do. Race day for him seems more like a boxer figuring out when to attack and when to defend than a runner aiming for a certain time. So, lace up the shoes and join Rob as he shares with us his love of running and his unique approach to the sprit that he loves.
A Special Edition of the Racing Review Podcast. We chat to a few runners after they had finished their events at the GC50 and got a few insights into how the day unfolded. Ben Dennien shared his view from the announces stage and Rob Clarke gave us an insight into the moment etc female lead changed at 49km with only 1 km to go. Other interviews include the winners of the 25km Mixed and Female Relay as well as finishes in the 50km and 30km events.Congratulations to all who competed - a full review will be discussed in the December Edition of the Racing Review Podcast later this month.

On this episode, we discuss creatively making money in Cannabis with genetics or without ever touching the plant at all. We also welcome Mojave Richmond to the show! Mojave is a long-time veteran of the cannabis business. His genetics and those of his partner Rob Clarke have gone on to become some of the most important medicine in the space ---including getting FDA approval in one instance., Mojave and his partner Rob, have also won their fair share of cannabis cups. Which for my audience --is the Oscar’s or Tony awards of the Cannabis business.
On episode 14 of the Suffer First Podcast I interview, Rob Clarke. Rob is a Navy veteran, a marathoner, ultramarathoner, and an Ironman. I’ve known Rob for roughly 20 years, give or take a year or two. He and I met and became friends while working at, InTech, an I.T. recruiting firm and subsidiary of, Merritt Hawkins, a physician recruiting firm in Dallas, TX. We worked together there for a few years then left and went in our own directions. We stayed in the recruiting world and even worked together again at a few different companies. Rob is 44 years old, grew up in Arlington, TX and married his high school sweetheart, Charisma (who is an ultrarunner and marathoner while being a mother and L&D nurse!). They have 2 boys Gabe (14) and Liam (8). After high school Rob joined the Navy- he was interested in the Navy SEALs, but he says he was definitely not SEALs material back then - a big part of that was his fear of swimming and open water. He barely passed the Navy swim test and likened his swimming back then to a controlled drowning. Fast forward many years later- those same fears would haunt him every summer. Finally determined - he met another Ironman who inspired him to sign up for his first triathlon…. just 70 days later…. while he still could not swim and did not even own a bike! Rob’s new Ironman friend suggested that, “not being able to swim and not owning a bike were just minor details. You need to take 2 steps to prepare for becoming a triathlete - Step 1- sign up, Step 2 – work on those minor details!” He persevered and went on to finish that triathlon. Just a year later he completed a half ironman and a year after that he completed a full Ironman! For the uninitiated an Ironman is a 2.4-mile swim, 112 miles on the bike, and a 26.2-mile run. This was a dream come true! He had watched the show as a kid and it took a ton of suffering and dedication to make it happen- all while having a full-time job, being a supportive husband and father. Please welcome Rob Clarke to the Suffer First podcast.
We are joined by Analyst, Jessica Van Slyke and Research Director, Rob Clarke to discuss how associated gas resource impacts the cost curve.
I had an epiphany talking to Rob Clarke, co-founder of Strala, at Martech West in early April. His company created a turnkey platform that allows you to standardize UTM parameters to track all your online and offline marketing outreach. He told me that marketers like to ask 3 questions: who, what and when. Marketing focuses on Who, What, and When Who are they? What did they do throughout their buying journey? When did they do it? If you have a standard tracking system that is integrated to your marketing automation, CRM, POS (point of sales), eCommerce and other platforms, you can see a series of actions that prospects do through their journeys. With all the information in one place, hopefully, you get some insights to determine the next steps to nurture and drive better conversions. If you tie that information to your budget, you can see which marketing channels perform better and adjust your marketing budget accordingly. My conversation with Rob prompted me to think what sales people would like to know when they talk to prospects. Are the questions the same like marketer’s who, what, and when or something different? Sales focuses on Why and How Much, in addition to Who, What, and When Working with sales for a long time, I realize they like to understand Why, How much and when? Why did they come to us? Why are they interested in us? How much budget do they have? When will they likely buy? Of course, who and what are also important, but these answers to these questions may be more in-depth than marketing want to know. Who are they? What challenges do they have? Which of our offerings can solve their challenges? What else can we do to help them? If you think about it, even if sales and marketing are talking to the same prospects, the way they communicate and the information they gather are fundamentally different. Obviously, one focuses on the top of the purchase funnel, while the other focuses on the bottom of the funnel. One emphasizes on awareness-building, while the other is all about how to move prospects to different sales stages to close deals. So, understanding the types of questions that sales asks will dictate how you support your sales team. You can’t take the marketing content and just dump it on the sales side and expect them to use it. Why? Because they ask different questions. If you work on ABM, don’t expect that the copy you use for mass marketing outreach will necessarily apply to the sales side. You have to consider accounts’ needs and the questions that sales wants to address. In previous episodes I talked about, in order to support sales as marketers, you need to understand how sales think and work. One of the key ways is to know the types of questions they ask at different stages. That piece of intelligence will help you determine your sales support approach and the content you can recommend for the sales processes. If you have any questions, you know where to reach me. Just google Pam Didner. Again, if you like the podcast, please leave comments on iTunes. So keep hustling, my friends. You got this.
Welcome to another episode of 7-Minute Marketing with Pam. My name is Pam Didner. I love sharing a little dose of B2B, digital, content marketing and sales enablement, seven minutes at a time. In my previous episode, I talked about the importance of keeping up with marketing technology. One of the best ways I mentioned is to talk to various vendors at marketing conferences. When I went to Martech West in the San Jose Convention Center early April, I did my rounds and talked to different vendors. I am not affiliated with any of these vendors but I want to tell you about 3 vendors that caught my eye and share with you what they offer. Voicify You can use their platform to create a voice-enabled application which can be downloaded to Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Microsoft Cortana and your chatbots. It allows brands to seamlessly create and manage their voice content across any number of smart speakers & devices. This is similar to Libsyn, which some of you may use to manage your podcast episodes. Libsyn lets you upload your audio files and then automatically syndicate to iTunes, iHeart radio and other podcast or radio channels. The Voicify platform is the Libsyn version for voice and more. For Libsyn, you upload the finished audio files. For Voicify, you can manage your content and a list of questions and answers all in one platform. You can update and refresh your content on a regular basis and you can also customize and deploy your content for different voice assistants and chatbots. This is the first voice management platform I have come across. Again, it’s called Voicify. Strala The next one is Strala. I enjoyed talking to the co-founder, Rob Clarke. He is incredibly passionate about tracking customers’ online and offline touch points to improve customer journeys and quantify ROI, basically tracking all your marketing efforts end-to-end. He said if you really want to track each touch point, you need to standardize your touch points’ tracking mechanism with consistent marketing taxonomies across all channels, publishers, content and messaging. I 100% agree with him. Most marketing organizations are divided by marketing functions. Marketers tend to focus on measuring the marketing they manage. But someone needs to have a holistic view and take ownership of automating the tracking beyond basic UTM parameters. They offer 3 products: Touchpoint, I just mentioned. Journey Stream that shows customers’ touchpoints throughout their journeys. And, Prism is their standard dashboard. I know many vendors offer similar tools. I just thought their approach is sound for standardizing all the tracking, not just using APIs to pull data from various sources. Again, it’s called Strala. They position themselves as “Turnkey Insights and attributions across all online and offline touchpoints.” Very cool. Alyce Ok, this company caught my eye because they want to help you pick the perfect gifts for your customers. Alyce bases its gift suggestions on information that is pulled from customers’ social media accounts. The company can also provide popular gift options on their platform. Apparently, they have more than 30,000 gift options. Their platform uses AI to select the gift options, and is integrated with SalesForce.com to track conversions. The company will also manage your direct mail logistics. Here is a nice caveat: You can’t go wrong with gift selection. Whatever you choose, your recipient will always be able to donate the value to a meaningful charity or exchange for another equally valued gift. I think Alyce is a great option if you plan to do one-to-one hyper-personalized account-based marketing (ABM) for strategic accounts. I talked to over 30 vendors and got a good understanding of how each one of them wants to fit into the overall sales and marketing processes. Understanding martech is overwhelming. The key is to understand what challenges you aim to solve and take it from there. If you have any questions, you know where to reach me. Just google Pam Didner. Again, if you like the podcast, please leave comments on iTunes. So keep hustling, my friends. You got this.

It's weird how much of a difference a single letter makes. Changing an M to a W turned Mario from an athletic Princess rescuing plumber to a money-obsessed games designer who stinks of garlic. Similar changing an A to an E makes Parko no longer a diaeresis-obsessed games journalist who constantly loses his shoes to Jason 'Perko' Perkins - the managing director of Curve Studios who, along with Rob Clarke, is this episode's Super-Special Guest. And we perhaps weren't in the best frame of mind, with this episode being recorded after Ann and Ste got the All Tomorrow's Parties festival shut down. The Curve boys did appear to be better prepared than us at the beginning of the show, but we soon found out that they had trouble with electronic devices. Which probably isn't the best inside of the Resonance FM studio with all of its electronic devices.Inspired by Jeremy Paxman and his beard we tried a new method of interviewing, which immediately paid absolutely no dividends. So then Simon tried being nice which seemed to work much better. Perhaps we should try to be nicer to everyone (We agree - Parko and Keith Stuart). We did find out some exclusive gossip about Mike Bithell that blows apart what we previously knew about the creation of Thomas Was Alone. As usual at this time of year we talk about the forthcoming Christmas party which is close to selling out despite Keith not keeping up with his end of the bargain. If you're coming please remember to bring some games for Secret Santa (and put what games system the games are for) and also be fully prepared for the Pipmas Anntomime that we'll be premiering that night (with a view to transferring to Broadway). If you're not coming then please feel free to provide us with more karaoke songs for us to sing. Not only did we have all that in the show but we also had Local News and a returning Science Officer. The rest was all down to Ann, who scared her flatmate by playing a game, became a YouTube Superstar and also came up with the equation that six PS4s are the same as no PS4s.Cheerio!Team OLL xLinks:http://oll.eventbrite.com (last time, promise)https://twitter.com/curvestudioshttp://www.curve-studios.com/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Q-73eWgUP0Tracklist:1.
