Welcome to this episode of The Fertility Podcast and joined by Betty Mukherjee, who you may know, if you're a fan of Channel 4's Race Across the World as she was in series 4 with her brother James and spoke about her condition MRKH (Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser) and is now doing amazing advocacy work on the topic and sharing her own experiences as she finds out more regarding her family building options. Betty opens up about receiving her MRKH diagnosis at 16, how it shattered the future she had imagined, and how sharing her story publicly on national TV changed her life. She reflects on the healing power of vulnerability, the support of her partner Dan, and the importance of balancing self-care, fitness, and mental wellbeing during fertility treatment. What we talk about: The challenges of being a teenager diagnosed with MRKHWhy conversations with siblings and friends were avoided for yearsThe reality of egg freezing, hormone injections, and physical side effectsThe role of mental health support—both professional and personalUsing YouTube and social media to share raw, vulnerable momentsFinding comfort in everyday rituals, like lighting candles, cooking, and walking her dog, MapleBetty's story is one of resilience, advocacy, and hope—and a reminder that “shame dies when stories are shared in safe spaces.”Resources & LinksFollow Betty on InstagramWatch Betty's journey on YouTubeLearn more about MRKH: MRKH Support ResourcesPrevious podcast episodes with Julianne Boutileb (psychological advisor mentioned in this episode)Andria Trigo shares her story of life with MRKH Sign up for support groups and advocacy through Fertility ActionExplore more about the Fertility Matters at Work initiative and tell your workplace about The F Word at Work Live

How well does the law serve women? That's a question Nuala puts to Brenda Marjorie Hale, The Rt. Hon. The Baroness Hale of Richmond, DBE a former judge who served as the first female President of the Supreme Court. She was the first woman and the youngest person to be appointed to the Law Commission, where she led the work on what became the 1989 Children Act. It is called Words for Life and each day you can read an entry, digest its meaning and maybe laugh at its sound. Susie gives Anita some examples and explains her interest in words.Presenter: Anita Rani Producer: Annette Wells Editor: Andrea Kidd
A group of cross-party MPs has called for root and branch transformation of the way mainstream education caters for children and young people with special educational needs and disablities, including new statutory minimum standards. Today's guest is no stranger to long miles. Dave Moulding is the kind of runner who doesn't just chase finish lines, he chases meaning, mishaps, and the occasional canal path detour. In 2020, Dave set a Fastest Known Time on the Lancaster Canal, clocking 9 hours and 49 minutes of pure determination & some questionable navigation. He's the kind of athlete who reminds us that endurance isn't just physical, it's emotional, logistical, and sometimes involves your support crew playing Jason Bourne with a brown paper bag of gels. We're diving into the mindset behind the miles, the grit, and why running through farmers' fields with 20 gates & styles is just another Tuesday. So lace up, settle in, and get ready for a conversation with Dave Moulding.XMILES UK - Listeners receive 10% of their order value back as store credit via the link below https://xmiles.avln.me/c/RiwxnARvfHeRRunderwear - Use code TEATRAILS15 for 15% off your orderhttps://runderwear.avln.me/c/GPVNMgMfYfLPSHOKZ - Use code TEA102025 to receive £10 offhttps://uk.shokz.com?sca_ref=7394994.MfsDQZBAeLQihiPrecision Fuel & Hydration https://visit.pfandh.com/3GKxHjUPrecision Fuel & Hydration Planner https://visit.pfandh.com/3RuP25zHarrier - Use code TEA10 for 10% off https://harrierrunfree.co.uk/Centurion Running - Use code TEAANDTRAILS10 to receive 10% off *Excluding Sale Items https://centurionrunning.com/GOODR - Use code GOTEAANDTRAILS to reveive 10% off your order https://goodr.avln.me/c/VLEmsAIZCDtmLIFE JACKET SKIN PROTECTION - Use code GOTYOURBACK for 10% off your first order https://lifejacketskin.com/PRIMUS UK - Use code TT-PRIMUS-20 for 20% off https://primusuk.avln.me/c/kBWmOJaEiByDProtein Rebel - Use code Tea15 for 15% off your first order https://proteinrebel.com/Fenixlight Limited - Use code T&T5 for 5% off your order https://www.fenixlight.co.uk/Content may contain affiliate links which can help support and grow this channel at no extra cost to you.Brew with the Coaches - CLICK HEREHardmoors - https://www.hardmoors110.org.uk/Ourea Events - https://www.oureaevents.com/Ultra Trails - https://www.ultratrails.co.uk/Hannah Walsh - https://www.hannahwalsh.co.uk/Punk Panther - https://www.punkpanther.co.uk/Pen Llyn Ultra - https://penllyn.niftyentries.com/Raw Adventures - https://www.raw-adventures.co.uk/
Hosted on Acast. Hi, it's Natalie here. After a bit of a summer pause (thanks to some tech drama), I'm thrilled to be back with a truly special episode. This one was recorded live at the Green Man Festival, on the Pandemonium Stage in Einstein's Garden, and it's a conversation I've been dreaming about for a long time. If you've been to a festival over the summer and think this type of conversation would fit, do let me know. Feel free to leave a comment wherever you listen or scroll to the bottom to find out more. We tackled one of the most common yet complicated questions many of us face:“So, do you have kids?” It seems innocent, but for so many, it opens the door to grief, awkwardness, and a whole lot of emotional weight. In this episode, we explore why that question can hurt and what we might ask instead.I was joined by four incredible guests who generously shared their personal stories and wisdom on stage:Mel Johnson, solo parent coach and founder of The Stork and IShema Tariq, academic, writer, baby loss advocate and Tommy's trusteeBetty Mukherjee, MRKH campaigner and Race Across the World finalistAnd my husband, Rich Silverman, who opened up publicly for the first time about our journey with male factor infertility and the mental health impact on himWhat we talked aboutWhy the question “Do you have kids?” can be so deeply painful when you're navigating infertility, baby loss, or childlessness not by choiceMel's journey to solo motherhood and the way people still make assumptions about women who choose that pathShema's IVF experience using donor eggs, the heart breaking loss of her baby at 21 weeks, and how her cultural background shaped her experienceBetty's diagnosis of MRKH at 16 and how she opened up about it during her time on national TVRich's journey with male factor infertility and how counselling helped him move forward, plus why more men need space to share tooThe words we use around fertility and family, and how language can uplift or hurtTalking to children about solo parenting and donor conception, and why openness mattersThe trauma of fertility treatment, especially for people of colour, and the inequalities that still existHow to truly show up for loved ones going through these journeys, and why "I'm here if you ever want to talk" is sometimes not enoughBetter ways to connectIf you're ever unsure of what to say instead of “Do you have kids?”, here are a few suggestions we shared:“What's been bringing you joy lately?”“What's been going on in your world?”“What are you passionate about these days?”And most importantly: ask twice. Sometimes people need that second invitation to feel safe opening up.Have a listen to my chat with Shema previously - way back in 2022What do I need to think about when going abroad for donor treatment? • The Fertility Podcast Let's keep the conversation goingConnect with me on Instagram: @fertilitypoddyShema's Insta: @drshematariqMel's Insta: @the_stork_and_iBetty's Insta: @bettymuk_Rich's Insta:
Silent attrition may be the biggest threat most banks aren't talking about — and the stakes are rising fast. The 2025 Generational Trends in Digital Banking study reveals that only 56% of digital banking consumers expect to maintain their current relationship over the next year, while the rest are quietly drifting toward stagnation or disengagement. This continuous erosion of loyalty comes just as the U.S. faces one of the largest intergenerational wealth transfers in history. Thirty-seven percent of Americans expect an inheritance in the next two decades, but if banks can't hold on to younger, digital-first customers now, those assets — and the loyalty — will walk out the door. Joining me today on the Banking Transformed podcast are two powerhouse experts – Jason Dorsey, President of The Center for Generational Kinetics, and Allison Cerra, Chief Marketing Officer at Alkami Technologies. They will unpack the findings from the 2025 Generational Trends in Digital Banking Study and share what banks must do now to stop the quiet exodus before it's too late. Remember, silent attrition doesn't announce itself — it's a quiet leak of loyalty, share of wallet, and future opportunity that can be devastating if ignored. This Episode of Banking Transformed is Sponsored by Alkami Alkami Technology, Inc. is a leading cloud-based digital banking solutions provider for financial institutions in the United States that enables clients to grow confidently, adapt quickly, and build thriving digital communities. Matt and Dawn welcome a new voice to the show, site contributor Ruthie Nugent, to review 4 brand new shows. First up, Jimmy McGovern's hard hitting single drama Unforgivable. Prime Video's The Assassin, which sees Keeley Hawes as a retired Assassin forced out of retirement just as her son arrives to visit. Next, Lena Dunham's first new project in years, this time for Netflix and London set RomCom homage Too Much. Lastly, the BBC are hoping they can continue their streak of popular reality series with Destination X, which, in theory, could be a Traitors and Race Across the World hybrid. That's the theory, anyway. Finally, Dawn challenges Matt and Ruthie to name as finalists of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here as they can.

Matthew Lefthand is a record-breaking ultra-endurance cyclist who's redefining what's possible on two wheels. In this episode, we dive into his journey from a 270-pound marathon runner to one of the fastest ultra bikers in the world. He recently shattered the Race Across the West course record, completing the brutal 860-mile route from Oceanside to Durango in just 1 day, 21 hours, and 39 minutes, averaging nearly 19 mph through desert heat and mountain climbs. Earlier this year, he also set the highest 24-hour mileage ever recorded by an American—576 miles at the Sebring 24. But beyond the numbers, this conversation is about the mental, physical, and spiritual transformation that fuels those rides. Matthew talks about what it means to suffer with purpose, how his Navajo heritage and family drive him forward, and what it takes to truly give everything you have. If you're chasing big goals or need a reminder of what the human body and spirit are capable of, this one's for you.
In this episode of The Virtual Velo Podcast, co-hosts Emma Martin and Chris Schwenker welcome Matthew Lefthand—the newly crowned world-record holder for the greatest virtual cycling distance in 24 hours—and Larry Oslund, Records Chair of the World Ultra Cycling Association (WUCA).Lefthand's transformation from 280 pounds to elite ultra-cyclist is nothing short of inspirational. Just two years after discovering cycling, he became one of only a handful of athletes to surpass the 500-mile mark in 24 hours on the road—eclipsing it on his first attempt, and then followed it up with 658.31 certified record-setting miles on Zwift. Along the way, he's crushed course records at the Hoodoo 500 and Race Across the West, beating not only solo competitors but entire relay teams. With his blend of mental resilience, untapped physiological potential, and scientific precision, Lefthand may just be getting started. As Oslund puts it, he has the potential to rewrite the ultra-cycling record books.Don't miss out on the unique opportunity to delve even deeper into the intriguing topics discussed in this episode. The anatomy of a record-setting 24-hour virtual ride [Escape Collective, May 16, 2025] Join us for a conversational ride as we lend a voice to the digital athlete and bridge the gap between athlete and avatar.Statements made by guests are their own and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the podcast, its hosts, or its partners. Matt, Dawn and Mo are back to review the new shows available this week. On ITV, there's a second series of medical thriller Malpractice. It's an odd show to bring back given that it wasn't a big show or overly discussed but it would appear that ITV are hoping this will be a returning series featuring a team who are brought in to investigate medical malpractice. On Prime Video, Amy Sherman Paladino is back for ballet drama Étoile. As a big fan of the Gilmore Girls, Bunheads and The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, how to the trio feel about this new show which sees fictional dance schools in New York and Paris swap dancers. Finally, on Netflix, there's relationship drama The Four Seasons which sees three couple spend four holidays together. Spoiler, its one of the warmest and surprising shows of the year with a great cast which includes Tina Fey, Colman Domingo and Steve Carell. There's also discussion on Doctor Who, Race Across the World, Andor and Hacks.
