The return of "What About?" Wednesdays! Text us your questions for apologist and pastor Robby Lashua!Today, Robby Lashua and Geoff Brown step right into the do-do.Christianity isn't meant to be a list of "don't do's" as so many in the world, and perhaps the church, perceive it.  Rather, Christianity defines its followers as individuals who are aware of the the do-do's.  It's all about what we do do.  Our faith is intended to be active, purposeful, vibrant, loving, and mission-driven.And all that do do stems from one thing:  "Imago Dei".Because we are created in the image and likeness of God, we are created "On Purpose" and "For a Purpose".  Further, when we defy the cultural norms, and live the lives we were designed, defined, and destined for, our fulfillment and joy go through the roof!Robby Lashua is the lead pastor at Palmcroft Church in Phoenix, Arizona.  Having also served with Stand to Reason, he's a leading apologist who brings the defense of scripture and Biblical truth to bear powerfully within his teaching.Today, Robby helps us to navigate away from the polarity of the creation vs. evolution debate (as truly fun as it is) and towards the reason for which we were created... The return of "What About?" Wednesdays! Text us your questions for apologist and pastor Robby Lashua!Today:Dinosaurs on Noah's Ark?  Dinosaur tracks and human artifacts within the same fossil layers?  Fresh biological material within excavated dinosaur bones?  We have found water-soluble dinosaur DNA that has survived? You better buckle up.  Today's Kingdom Culture Conversation is going to spur a lot of conversations...Background:In the summer of 2016, the annual Crusaders Charge into Summer Reading campaign introduced us to Russ Miller, a storied and established Biblical creationist who lives, believe it or not, off-the-grid in a crater in northern Arizona.  If that were not crazy enough, during that summer, Miller introduced us to his book, "The Cost", and he made two audacious claims.First, Russ Miller claimed that the universe and all of creation was established by God in six 24-hour days, less than 10,000 years ago.  He claimed he had scientific and scriptural evidence to back up his claims.Second, Miller claimed that if our nation continued to deny God the creator and the concept of "Imago Dei" -- that we are created in the image and likeness of God, on purpose, and for a purpose -- our culture would go into a freefall, losing all concept of right and wrong, falling into chaos and disorder. Now, ten years later, Russ Miller is back and his warnings and worries have exploded into reality.  Our country and our culture are mired in confusion about truth, gender, marriage, race, identity, spirituality, and more.We are paying what Miller called "The Cost" of losing track of who we are and whose we are.Miller's latest book is "Consider the Cost" -- an updated and expanded version of "The Cost" that is available at no cost in the three offices of Northwest Christian School -- and his message remains the same:  we must understand that we were created by God on purpose -- we are not biochemical happenstance -- and we were created for a purpose.  We are loved and valued.  The truth is knowable.  We have a reason.  We have a mission. This summer, we're going deep into creationism.  We are going to spend time with audacious individuals who believe in Young Earth, Old Earth, Theistic Evolution, Geocentricity, and, yes, a Flat Earth.  Our journey will be anchored in God's word as we enjoy some pretty amazing conversations. But, at the end of the day, diverse positions aside, every moment and every word of the KingdomCultureConversations.com episodes that we will hear this summer (between May 11th and September 28th) will be rooted in one truth:  You were created on purpose and for a purpose. To learn more about Russ Miller and his organization, "Creation and Evolution Science Ministries", please follow this link. The return of "What About?" Wednesdays! Text us your questions for apologist and pastor Robby Lashua!Although thoroughly secular in nature, the National Center for Science Education benignly labels it as the "Creation/Evolution Continuum".  Running from the extreme of Flat Earth creationism on the Biblical side to the extreme of atheistic evolution on the secular side, it is, however, anything but benign.  There are so many different views!  So many different perspectives! All the parties are looking at the same physical, natural evidence and the same passages of scripture.  Yet, along this continuum there has historically been so much heat and disagreement! It's almost like God never intended for us to fully understand...Wait.  Could that be it?And, if we were never intended to understand the particulars of creation, what did He intend for us to draw from the passages of scripture that encompass the topic?Robby Lashua is the lead pastor at Palmcroft Church in Phoenix, Arizona.  Having also served with Stand to Reason, he's a leading apologist who brings the defense of scripture and Biblical truth to bear powerfully within his teaching. In short, he's the perfect individual to help us answer these questions! The return of "What About?" Wednesdays! Text us your questions for apologist and pastor Robby Lashua!Today:There is no such thing as "settled science".  By its very definition, science cannot "prove" anything.  While it can "disprove" and show something to be false, the impetus of scientific methodology is to continue to accumulate observations and then classify that new information in such a way as to produce reliable predictions which, eventually, can become hypotheses. But, science is wont to continue collecting these observations -- if it is credible science, it must never stop -- and to account for those additional observations. So, why does the US National Park Service suggest that the Grand Canyon was formed over millions of years by erosion caused by the Colorado River when there is near unanimous agreement within the US Geologic Survey that such would not be possible?  Further, why is the US Geologic Survey content in reporting that the "millions and millions of years" narrative is not supported by the Canyon's geology?  "Unconformities are gaps in the geologic record that occur when rocks or sediments are eroded away and time elapses before new deposition occurs. New sediment eventually forms new rock layers on top of the eroded surface, but there is a period of geologic time that is not represented. You can think of unconformities as missing 'pages' in the book of the geologic record."Where did those pages go?  Or, is it possible that they were never written? Background:In the summer of 2016, the annual Crusaders Charge into Summer Reading campaign introduced us to Russ Miller, a storied and established Biblical creationist who lives, believe it or not, off-the-grid in a crater in northern Arizona. We are paying what Miller called "The Cost" of losing track of who we are and whose we are.To learn more about Russ Miller and his organization, "Creation and Evolution Science Ministries", please follow this link.To get a copy of "Consider the Cost", you can pick up a free copy of the book in the three offices of Northwest Christian School in Phoenix, Arizona or you can order a copy by clicking here. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "We must admit that we as Christians have often lagged behind at this point. Slavery could not have existed in America for more than two hundred and fifty years if the Church had not sanctioned it. Segregation and discrimination could not exist in America today without the sanction of the Church. I am ashamed and appalled at the fact that eleven o'clock on Sunday morning is the most segregated hour in Christian America. How tardy we have been! The Church has to often been an institution serving to crystalize the patterns of the status quo."Is the criticism fair?Or, as he goes on to say, are there underlying appeals within Communism that, although subtle, are having a profound impact on culture and the Church? To wrestle with those questions, today we are joined by Joy Watson whose school, in the International Academy of St. Petersburg, resides within the residue of a form of Russian communism that fell in 1991 but whose presence is still felt. Are we, as Americans who have just elected a socialist mayor in our nation's largest city, in danger of falling prey? The return of "What About?" Wednesdays! Text us your questions for apologist and pastor Robby Lashua! The U.S. Department of State describes the problem in jarringly acute terms:  "The Government of Cambodia does not fully meet the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking and is not making significant efforts to do so.  Despite the lack of significant efforts, the government took some steps to address trafficking, including opening a victim support center, cooperating with foreign governments on anti-trafficking investigations, and launching an online trafficking victim identification training course available to government officials. However, corruption and official complicity – including by high-level senior government officials – in trafficking crimes remained widespread and endemic during the reporting period; this included the exploitation of tens of thousands of victims in forced criminality in online scam operations in Cambodia. Officials actively impeded countervailing efforts, including reportedly undermining anti-trafficking law enforcement and victim protection efforts and dispelling reported accusations through minimization and denial in public messaging of the prevalence and severity of online scam operations, including reports of government complicity."It's for this reason that "Steven's" last name is redacted.  A young man, faithful to being attentive to God's voice, standing in the gap and, in spite of the threat of harm and the potential dangers, working to rescue children from within a culture entrenched in forced slavery and sex trafficking...Today, in a Kingdom Culture Conversation that you will not soon forget, you have the chance to hear about this young man's earnest pursuit of his calling, his first steps of obedience into a space rife with danger, and the success that he is encountering as he learns to wholly lean on God's provision and direction. To support Steven's family and ministry in Cambodia, please follow this link."Kingdom Culture Conversations" is a podcast created by Northwest Christian School in Phoenix, Arizona. For more information on Northwest Christian School, visit: https://www.ncsaz.org/To reach out to Geoff Brown, please email gbrown@ncsaz.org or you can reach him by cell phone: (623)225-5573.

The return of "What About?" Wednesdays! Our friend, Robby Lashua, from the ministry, Stand to Reason, writes this, "I love meeting with Latter-day Saints, especially the young men and women who are serving on their mission. I often invite them to my house to discuss their beliefs and ask questions about what Joseph Smith taught. After a few meetings, they usually ask if they can bring their bishop along with them to help answer some of my questions. I always say yes.” Want to hear how this usually goes? https://www.str.org/w/ground-your-faith-in-reality To effectively engage Latter-day Saints... https://training.str.org/indexDonate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshow/wkesSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Robby is here to discuss Lizzy's questions about the Bible and how to approach it. Lizzy was unable to make it to this recording. She's a college student from Chelan, Washington. Lizzy grew up in a loving Christian home but has a lot of questions about God, identity, and purpose. She is a very curious person and is someone who often takes things literally. She admits she struggles with anxiety and wonders why God pursues her when it's hard for her to trust Him. She says she's sensed Him trying to get her attention but is not sure about having experienced His love. Lizzy and Janell have known each other for seven years.  We hope you enjoy this week's episode!   About Robby Lashua: Robby Lashua is the newest Apologist at Stand to Reason. SummaryRobbie Lashua discusses the Stand to Reason (STR) Outposts initiative, its purpose, and the process of starting one at a local church. He shares his journey of getting involved with STR and his role as the outpost coordinator. The conversation also covers the flexibility of outposts, the target audience, and the use of STRU courses for small group discussions. Robbie is interviewed about STR's Outpost program, which equips local churches with apologetics resources. The program allows flexibility for churches to use other materials but requires adherence to STR's mission statement. Outposts are not meant to teach doctrinal distinctives, and the local church is responsible for indoctrinating its members. Outpost directors have access to resources and support from STR for managing difficult personalities and theological issues. As you will hear discussed in today's Kingdom Culture Conversation, there are a host of theological issues that our foundational to the Christian faith.  Conversely, there are other issues that, while important, are not as pressing as others. Some issues represent prerequisites to salvation.  Others represent preferences. But, as our student question goes today, where does baptism lie?  Is it a necessary point in the journey towards eternity with Christ?  Or, is it simply a point along the journey we all take in pursuit of Christ. The difference may seem subtle.  But does eternity hang in the balance? For more information on Robby and Stand to Reason, please visit this link! At first glance, Luke 2:52 seems harmless enough."Jesus increased in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man."But, wait a minute...Jesus increased in wisdom?  In other words, the pre-incarnate Word from John 1 "grew in wisdom" over the course of time?  How?  Or, Colossians 1's pre-existent, uncreated God-in-the-flesh became more wise?Further, how did Jesus increase in favor with God?  Is Luke suggesting that at one point God favored Jesus less and then, at another point, He favored Him more?  How does that work? And, so the argument goes:  as the Gospels were written, the early church had a developing agenda for Jesus and therefore, over time, they began to exaggerate who He was and His significance.  Is it possible that there are internal clues within Scripture that reveal an evolving Christology? To the rescue:  Robby Lashua, an apologist with Stand to Reason!  Robby helps us to understand Luke 2:52...Fore more information on Robby and Stand to Reason, please visit this link!
