Today's Kingdom Culture Conversation is going to spur a lot of conversations...Background:In the summer of 2016, the annual Crusaders Charge into Summer Reading campaign introduced us to Russ Miller, a storied and established Biblical creationist who lives, believe it or not, off-the-grid in a crater in northern Arizona. If that were not crazy enough, during that summer, Miller introduced us to his book, "The Cost", and he made two audacious claims.First, Russ Miller claimed that the universe and all of creation was established by God in six 24-hour days, less than 10,000 years ago. He claimed he had scientific and scriptural evidence to back up his claims.Second, Miller claimed that if our nation continued to deny God the creator and the concept of "Imago Dei" -- that we are created in the image and likeness of God, on purpose, and for a purpose -- our culture would go into a freefall, losing all concept of right and wrong, falling into chaos and disorder. Now, ten years later, Russ Miller is back and his warnings and worries have exploded into reality. Our country and our culture are mired in confusion about truth, gender, marriage, race, identity, spirituality, and more.We are paying what Miller called "The Cost" of losing track of who we are and whose we are.Miller's latest book is "Consider the Cost" -- an updated and expanded version of "The Cost" that is available at no cost in the three offices of Northwest Christian School -- and his message remains the same: we must understand that we were created by God on purpose -- we are not biochemical happenstance -- and we were created for a purpose. We are going to spend time with audacious individuals who believe in Young Earth, Old Earth, Theistic Evolution, Geocentricity, and, yes, a Flat Earth. The return of "What About?" Wednesdays! Text us your questions for apologist and pastor Robby Lashua!Today:As we press forward within "Consider the Cost" with author Russ Miller, he drops a bombshell: "We have reached a point within the contemporary church wherein we will hardly allow iron to sharpen iron."When asked where the chief opposition to the notion of a young Earth arises, Russ is straightforward and blunt. The church. Why? If the lion's share of Scripture seems to point towards a young Earth and the theology of sin and death -- in the view of respectable theologians like Wayne Grudem -- is dependent upon it, why would we not at least be intellectually honest and search both the Word (the Bible) and the World (secular science) for reasons to dismiss it? Can we so casually dismiss this notion if we have not taken the time to be sure? The summer of 2026 just got very, very awkward! Background:In the summer of 2016, the annual Crusaders Charge into Summer Reading campaign introduced us to Russ Miller, a storied and established Biblical creationist who lives, believe it or not, off-the-grid in a crater in northern Arizona. The return of "What About?" Wednesdays! Text us your questions for apologist and pastor Robby Lashua!Today:"Can we draw a distinction between 'creationism' generally and 'Biblical creationism' specifically?"Wait. Read that question again. Author Russ Miller isn't just suggesting that creationism generally, within all its forms, or young Earth creationism specifically aren't Biblical, he's suggesting that there is a Biblical approach and perspective of Young Earth creationism rooted in a global reading of Noah's flood. He's advocating for a view in which he suggests the Bible is clear and Christian confusion about varied schools of thinking about creationism is rooted in a haphazard approach to God's word.Controversial? What makes the Adventist understanding of creation both distinctive and deeply relevant today? This article explores how a recent, literal Creation week shapes Adventist theology, worship, mission, and engagement with science—while also highlighting the challenges of faithfulness in a world of competing origins narratives.
Did God use evolution to create life? On this ID The Future, we're sharing the second half of a recent conversation with Dr. Casey Luskin that originally aired on the Truthful Hope podcast. Casey is critiquing theistic evolution, the view that God used evolutionary mechanisms to create life. In today's episode, he continues by next addressing the inadequacy of natural selection and random mutation to generate biological complexity. Luskin also points out that even non-ID scientists have expressed skepticism about the explanatory power of neo-Darwinism. All this makes it very hard to justify the position of theistic evolutionists, who claim God uses evolution to create life. In reality, the more we learn about the complexity and design of life, the less adequate neo-Darwinism is as an explanation. This is Part 2 of a two-part conversation. Source
Some people attempt to reconcile belief in God with the standard evolutionary account of life's origins by combining the two. Theistic evolution is the view that God used evolutionary mechanisms to create life. But does this view stand up to scrutiny? Today, Dr. Casey Luskin critiques this perspective in the first half of a conversation that originally aired on the Truthful Hope podcast. The conversation kicks off with some clarity over terms, including what is meant by “evolution.” The theistic evolution perspective, also sometimes called evolutionary creation, accepts the standard scientific evolutionary account—the same view held by atheists—and simply adds the theological claim, "but this is how God did it". Critically, these proponents reject the idea that design can be empirically or scientifically detected in nature. As Luskin highlights, the central scientific problem with theistic evolution is that it inherits all the numerous scientific problems associated with the standard evolutionary account. This first half of the conversation rounds out with examples of those problems, specifically from the issue of the origin of life. This is Part 1 of a two-part conversation. Source
This week, we tackle an attempt to compromise theology in favor of culture.
What you believe about where we come from changes everything. In this episode of Worldview Wednesday, Joel Settecase walks through the four dominant views on origins—Naturalistic Evolution, Theistic Evolution, Old Earth Creationism, and Young Earth Creationism—explaining how each view shapes theology, science, and your everyday worldview. Why God Of The Gaps Is A Bad Objection While finishing our discussion on why methodological naturalism should be rejected, we deal with another bad objection to Christians having a place in the science world. This week Profile we continue our conversation with former nurse, author, and Christian apologist Dr. Tricia Scribner about how theistic evolution impacts a traditional, orthodox understanding of God. Jesus said to the Jews of His day that if they really believed in Moses they would believe in Him, but if they did not believe in Moses, He asked how they could really believe in His words (John 5:46-47). Jesus said that Moses testified of Him. And foundational to Moses' testimony is the creation account of Genesis, including the creation of the first human beings, Adam and Eve. Can Moses then be compatible with Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by means of natural selection? Many Christians who hold to "theistic evolution," a combination of evolutionary ideas and God as the Creator, believe Darwin is compatible with Moses. Episode 2.4Episode Description:In Part 2 of our deep dive into Genesis 1, we ask the big question: Which creation view best fits both the Bible and the observable universe? Building on our discussion of yom in Part 1, we compare major views—Young Earth, Old Earth, Theistic Evolution, and more—and examine how broader creation passages across Scripture (Job, Psalms, Romans, etc.) shape our understanding of Genesis.Michael makes the case that Old Earth Creationism aligns best with the text's linguistic structure, theological depth, and scientific evidence—from radiometric dating to starlight travel to the Big Bang. Along the way, we answer common objections and emphasize that the goal isn't to compromise Scripture, but to read it faithfully while recognizing God's revelation in both Word and world.Find our videocast here: https://youtu.be/fZX1nZbaJIUMerch here: https://take-2-podcast.printify.me/Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!):https://uppbeat.io/t/reakt-music/deep-stoneLicense code: 2QZOZ2YHZ5UTE7C8Find more Take 2 Theology content at https://www.take2theology.com/
