Episode 2.4Episode Description:In Part 2 of our deep dive into Genesis 1, we ask the big question: Which creation view best fits both the Bible and the observable universe? Building on our discussion of yom in Part 1, we compare major views—Young Earth, Old Earth, Theistic Evolution, and more—and examine how broader creation passages across Scripture (Job, Psalms, Romans, etc.) shape our understanding of Genesis.Michael makes the case that Old Earth Creationism aligns best with the text's linguistic structure, theological depth, and scientific evidence—from radiometric dating to starlight travel to the Big Bang. Along the way, we answer common objections and emphasize that the goal isn't to compromise Scripture, but to read it faithfully while recognizing God's revelation in both Word and world.Find our videocast here: https://youtu.be/fZX1nZbaJIUMerch here: https://take-2-podcast.printify.me/Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!):https://uppbeat.io/t/reakt-music/deep-stoneLicense code: 2QZOZ2YHZ5UTE7C8Find more Take 2 Theology content at https://www.take2theology.com/

For over a century, mankind has been fed a steady diet of fake news regarding the origins of humankind. But what may surprise you is just how much of their evolutionary narrative is simply made up lies. On this ID the Future from the vault, Nancy Pearcey, professor and scholar in residence at Houston Baptist University, tells some of the political history of Darwinism, and explains how the same troubling issues persist today. Darwin was one of the first to say, if it isn't purely naturalistic, it isn't science. Others, then and now, have suggested that we can keep Darwinian evolution and just trust that God is at work behind the scenes. Pearcey, co-author of The Soul of Science: Christian Faith and Natural Philosophy, says that the problem with this tactic of wedding Darwinism and theism is that ultimately it turns one's understanding of God into something that is largely private and subjective. On this ID the Future from the vault, Nancy Pearcey, author of numerous books, including The Soul of Science (co-authored with Charles Thaxton) and Love Thy Body: Answering Hard Questions about Life and Sexuality, challenges the common belief that Darwin's leading early supporters were convinced of the main pillars of his theory. Many in the nineteenth century were already primed to accept a theory of evolution, but not necessarily by natural selection. As Pearcey explains, some of Darwin's chief supporters had grave doubts about natural selection's role, and some of them believed that God or a “vital force” guided evolution. But Darwin would have none of it. And what do evolutionary scientists think today? The disagreements persist and, if anything, have Read More › Source

On this ID the Future from the vault, host Mike Keas interviews Professor Emeritus Michael Flannery (U of Alabama-Birmingham) about evolutionist Kenneth Miller's book The Human Instinct: How We Evolved to Have Reason, Consciousness, and Free Will. Flannery, a historian of science, argues that Miller's attempt to defend human exceptionalism on neo-Darwinian grounds runs into fatal difficulties, as have similar attempts before.
