We're back in the brand new year of 2026, as the College Football Playoff narrows down to it's Final Four and the NFL playoffs get going this weekend. We discuss the coverage, the ratings and more with a guest on the "LWOS Media Podcast!"Host T.J. Rives returns with Tyler Jones of LWOS .com/Media, "The Jones Report Podcast" and Roundtable Sports to go over it all.First, T.J. has thoughts on the CFP New Year's Eve and New Year's Day games and ratings. Also, the end of the NFL regular season and the playoffs being set. Also, what's up with the trend of national pro football broadcasters still being allowed to "do TV" while taking front office jobs and will former Falcons QB turned CBS "NFL Today" studio analyst Matt Ryan become the next? Then, T.J. and Tyler go over the CFP semis and the storybook finish shaping up for the Indiana Hoosiers, etc. They also disucss whether it's a good idea or not to have so many alternate broadcasts of these two games on Thursday and Friday night?Next, some NFL playoff talk as the schedule of games and broadcast outlets/announcers is out. The guys give their takes on all of it and just how massive will the numbers be with the new measuring systems for TV audience?T.J. and Tyler also discuss NBC Sports getting back into Major League Baseball and what prominent brodcasters could be the guy to fill their role(s) as the top p x p announcers?Hear it all on the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple/Spreaker/Spotify, etc.!

Week 5 is a wrap, and we startin' to see who's real and who's not in the NFL. Trey and Maestro welcome Roundtable Sports contributor Chef Zae to the show! They'll do a recap of the important games, including another defensive collapse by the Ravens, a shootout in Seattle, Bills & Eagles get their first L's, and more. Plus, they share their thoughts on the Mark Sanchez situation, LeBron has a "second decision" to make, and more.
The Mariners haven't led the AL West this late in a season since 2001 and Cal Raleigh is rewriting baseball history in the process. On Episode 105 of Tablesetters, we welcome back Brady Farkas, host of the Refuse to Lose Mariners podcast and writer for Roundtable Sports. Brady last joined us on Episode 39 before the season began, and now he returns as Seattle's wild ride hits its peak. From Raleigh smashing Mantle's record and tying Griffey Jr. to Josh Naylor's free agency price tag, Bryan Woo's playoff case, and Dan Wilson's composure, Brady takes us inside the clubhouse pulse of a team chasing its first division crown in 24 years. We also hit on:
The national perspective would say the Seahawks aren't yet ready. Vegas projects the Seahawks at 7.5 wins total. People are sleeping on the Seattle. Yet, this is the same team, now a couple years removed from one of the biggest most lopsided trades in NFL history, those collected assets in that deal now developed and ready to roll. This a team that has had three straight winning seasons. Far from far away, the Seattle Seahawks are very close. Let me make my case. Defenses have skewed towards the recent trend of taking the passing attack away. Offenses across the NFL have begun to use two tight end sets more than ever before, and we are having a revitalization of the fullback position in recent years. It's no wonder new Seahawks Offensive Coordinator Klint Kubiak is making this a big point of emphasis. Since entering the league in 2018, Alexander has been one of the better cornerbacks in the sport. He can play man or zone, and so is a good fit for Mike Macdonald's scheme. The Seahawks also have plenty of money, though the cost should be somewhat inexpensive considering Alexander's recent injury history. Let's discuss whether this is the right big move to make at this time. The return yardage from the previous season doubled, and the amount of touchbacks went down. Well, the NFL is pushing this further, moving a ball downed in the end zone now to the 35-yard line in 2025. We might just see a true renaissance in regards to kick offs again, and this part of the game going from one that has been recently automatic to a key part of the game.
