Starting our week off with a bang, as Galway based producer Intruder joins our ever growing premiere series, with a jittering broken beat thriller. This is straight power, as reverb drenched atmospheres meet pounding bass drums to great effect. Intruder burst into the Galway techno community in 2019 where he formed his identity of texture heavy and broken industrial sounds. Intruder's name was quickly associated with high octane distorted rhythms, pushing off kilter sounds, raw aggression and dynamic tension. His productions have appeared on labels such as Occult Rhythm's, Pure Hate and Crusade. Intruder's track have a comprehensive identity as his music is drenched in chewy kicks and clattering percussion while continually being moulded by his love for rhythm and power. Intruder is half of the brains of Galway's Sync Collective along with Elliot, who are pushing the Galway techno to tougher and darker territories. Constantly keeping a niche sound for the label and controlling the high caliber of artists that have come through while running night club events and illegal raves. Intruder has shared the stage with some of techno's finest including; Dahryl, Special Request, Charlie Sparks and SHXCXCHCXSH. Intruder also promises some more large announcements on the way for the later end of 2022. Intruder's debut on Four Four Magazine comes in the form of a murky broken techno slammer. Intruder calls on stepping rhythms, heading banging bass drums, growling percussive swings and mangled stabs to create a rather frenzied techno thriller. The track leads from high intensity hammering into murky submerged climates to great effect. This is industrial techno just how I like it. This week's Local Selection comes from Iva Mechakarova who has provided an hour of high octane bouncy techno, for those who like their beats fast, euphoric and trance infused. Iva show's exactly what she's about through razor sharp mixing and eagle eyed track selection. Iva Mechkarova is a Dublin-based DJ who focuses on the faster ends of electronic music. Her sound ranges from industrial techno, trance and EBM and everything that fall's in the middle. Iva's mixes are an almagamation o her experineces on the dance floor as she blends hard kicks and dark synths to euphoric melodies and uplifting vocals. Her years spent as a clubbing enthusiast have moulded her into the DJ she is today. Iva first spread her wings in Dublin's club circuit in February of 2020, she has been bursting through the scene and now holds a residency with Manifest. She has played gigs in Dublin and Cork, as well as internationally in Glasgow and Berlin. Iva has recently graced Cellar Club, The Soundhouse, Here and Now Club, Spailpin Fanach and more. The youngster has played alongside some industry heavyweights including SHXCXCHCXSH, Tred, Carmen Electro, Metaraph and more. Iva's contribution to the Local Selection Mix see's her dive deep into bouncing techno grooves at a blistering speed from start right through to finish. The Local Selection Mix returns for it's 170th edition courtesy of one of the most promising techno act's on our emerald isle, James Cherry. The young DJ & producer has provided an hour long expedition into deep and winding soundscapes, equipped rippling synth lines and dazzling textures. James Cherry has been loitering around the fringes of the Irish techno scene for some time, with multiple stand out performances in the seminal Hangar club and some recent show's in Dublin's newest techno fortress, Cellar. The young DJ offers a divergent sound to the rumbling kicks and screeches that often inhabit Dublin's sound systems from week to week. James Cherry delves into deeper territories with trippy melodies, metallic percussive grooves, pulsating modulations and direct techno power. Having recently released on coveted label's such as Berlin's Corpus, Dublins Delinquent Delivery and most notably an album on the fabled Subsist Records which has been home to instrumental techno figures such as Stanislav Tolkachev, SHXCXCHCXSH, Ritzi Lee, Mike Storm & more. It's clear that James Cherry is carving his name into history of Irish techno. For James's contribution to the Local Selection Mix he stay's true to his clean-cut and spaced out sound, whilst delivering with power and precision. The youngster lyes on hypnotising rhythms and quivering energy shifts, as he keeps his finger on the trigger throughout the mix. Dancing around 90's inspired rhythms and melodies, Cherry doesn't trail too far pulsating modern sound, but somewhat hint's at classic techno nostalgia. This is proper techno, from one of the leading driving forces in quality techno in Ireland. His impeccable mixing techniques and experience had given him the pleasure to perform along side known international artists like Polar Inertía, Amotik, Reeko, Zadig, Ricardo Garduno, Antigone, Lewis Fautzi, Speedy J, Xhei, fixon, Developer, Luis Flores, Farceb, Aleja Sanchez, Zemög, Gotshell Traversable Message, among others. All this trajectory gave him the opportunity to be the resident of Kowell Club in Manizales, Colombia and to perform in clubs like the mythical Garden Underground Club in Pereira, Colombia and Festivals like Nuit Sonores in 2 ocations, Selva Azul and Zero Gravity Fest where he shared booth with artists like Sigha, Peter Van Hoesen, SHXCXCHCXSH etc. He is now working on his project as a producer that it will be released on Seis Records. About: Tristan/Iseult is a nihilistic techno project that explores mythology sonically through modular synthesis. The project emerged first in a live setting back in 2015 at Der Bunker Teknobar in Phoenix, Arizona opening for SHXCXCHCXSH. That ethos of live sound exploration is reinforced with this set for Data Cult Audio, which was recorded in one take with no overdubs or post-production work. Up to this point, Tristan/Iseult has sought to give a nihilist reading of Dante’s Inferno, a profane understanding of moral sentiment as expressed through the narrative of sin and damnation. While modular synthesizers are the primary instruments used, cello and voice provide additional layers of sound — sometimes obvious, though at other times sampled and synthesized. SHXCXCHCXSH’s techno is as mysterious and abstract as their artist alias. The Swedish duo has remained anonymous since their debut in 2012, largely because they believe that existing in isolation makes it easier to be creative. And they sure have been that, with a spotless run of EPs and LPs on Avian and Rösten that balance light with dark, noise with groove. Though the pair produce famously heavy, dense and gritty soundtracks, they never forget a powerful underlying groove that makes them an equal part artful noise band and compelling techno duo. Their mix for us is made entirely of their own new compositions and is aimed directly at the club after a few years making non dance floor material. It bares that out across an idiosyncratic hour of broken rhythms, fizzing synths and distorted textures "but we didn’t want to repeat tired old patterns and processes and tried something new. This experiment gave us a new way of working with rhythms and we never had as much fun in the studio. Much of the material that came out of the experiment is in this mix and much more will come out as one album called OUFOUFOF on our own Rösten in October, and one EP on Mord in November." As such the mix has all the dynamism of a impromptu live set as it shifts from the sound of malfunctioning machines to apocalyptic techno and back to anxious ambient. Unpredictable and challenging, it’s the sort of mix that leaves you thinking WTF and immediately heading back to the start for a second run, just to try and work out what you just heard.

The Swedish experimental techno artist SSTROM releases his first solo LP Otider with Rösten label. The album is a result of a long process taking place between the years 2007 and 2017. SSTROM is also known as the other half SHXCXCHCXSH. The duo's sound is characterised as techno featuring for example industrial, noise and glitch elements combined with broken beats. Otider, instead, is a more light - yet experimental - example of SSTROM's solo soundscapes. Monument is exclusively previewing track Vinden from the LP. The organic, industrial and lo-fi track is a great sample of the coming release, that has been described as a combination of rediscovered experiences of the artist's life. Here we are again, after the last Christmas and a well-deserved rest, we return with the fifth season. After this winter break, we thought it was the best to invite close friend to play some records and tell us the story behind them and so it was. Redwan who has been a resident in Madrid since 2011, has worked closely with several media as Geometrika FM, Abysmal, Forward, XXXO, Turntables, Electromagnetic Radio and Clubbingspain. He is currently a member of Trauma, the collective which has brought to Madrid some of the best talents of the most risky techno. You should have read about Trauma before, if not, here you have some artists who have been involved in their events: SHXCXCHCXSH, Cassegrain, Kareem, Stanislav Tolkachev, Talker, Zosima, Codex Empire, Blush Response, SSTROM, Lofthaus, Oake, Domenico Crisci, SØS Gunver Ryberg , Delusions, No Parfum or Sam KDC. As for Redwan, his influences come from Detroit (UR) to Berlin (Basic Channel, Tresor), through Birmingham, but always with the spotlight on the new mutations that techno offers. A really nice technique in the mix that in his own words, "the only premise has been to select some techno at a very low BPM, showing how it can be so mental and deep, and making body and mind dance together." Smoke is a newly formed techno duo delivering an onslaught of bass driven, reverb heavy, dark and choleric techno by SFBM and Alter Mind. This Bomphcast is mixed on Traktor, however the duo also perform using hardware setups and produce in the studio as well. As well as citing Oscar Mulero, Shifted, Regis, SHXCXCHCXSH, Developer, Ancient Methods and Headless Horseman as their major influences, they also draw inspiration "from the wider concepts of science, engineering and technology" for the productions and vibe towards techno music in general.
